Beyonce appeared on 20/20 on Friday to promote her new live album and, of course, to talk about her Bump of Mysteries and Conspiracies. Thus far, Beyonce – through her rep – has only bothered to comment on all of the conspiracy theories once, when just after Beyonce’s bump “collapsed” on an Australian television show, the rep said the conspiracies were “stupid, ridiculous and false.” In this new 20/20 interview, Bey tells Katie Couric that, “You know there are certain things that are so far, it doesn’t even affect me. I am cool, it is so ridiculous and over the top.” Here’s the full video interview and some quotes from the piece:
Since announcing her pregnancy to the world back in August 2011 at the MTV Video Music Awards, Beyonce fans have eagerly been on baby bump watch. But in October the singer sparked rumours that she was wearing a prosthetic belly after her stomach appeared to collapse as she sat down during a live TV appearance in Australia.
Now the 30-year-old star, who has branded the stories as ‘ridiculous’, has spoken out for the first time about how she feels about the reports. In an interview with Katie Couric for ABC’s 20/20, she said she treated the stories like water off a ducks back.
‘You know there are certain things that are so far, it doesn’t even affect me,’ she said.
‘I am cool, it is so ridiculous and over the top.’In fact the Love On Top singer revealed that it was her mother, Tina Knowles, that needed to be calmed down the most.
‘She’s like “no one is going to talk about my gran-baby.”‘ she said. ‘I was like calm down mom, it’s OK.’
In her interview with Couric last night, Beyonce was certainly more eager to discuss other things. She talked openly about her pregnancy in detail and her new DVD Live At Roseland. She also explained why she decided to reveal her pregnancy on stage at the MTV Awards, the moment in which she stripped off her jacket and rubbed her belly after performing her hit song, Love On Top.
‘News that is that big… it is hard to keep to yourself,’ she explained to Couric. ‘I felt so liberated and I could breathe and be happy. I went straight off the stage, I hugged Jay and I hugged my mom’ she explained.
Beyonce told Couric that she would soon be taking time off to prepare for the birth of her baby, and then afterwards to care for the tot and also to lose her baby weight. ‘I am not looking forward to that because I am having a good time!’ she said.
‘I’ve been really conscious [about food],’ she told Couric. ‘I’ve been trying my best not to lose control. Because I’ve met so many people that say, “My second baby, my third baby, I’ve learned my lesson,”‘ she explains of other mothers who struggled to lose their baby weight. ‘So I haven’t been going crazy. I know it’s important that I don’t lose myself.’
Beyonce told the 54-year-old TV journalist that she couldn’t wait to get her hands on her bundle of joy.
‘I am so anxious I want to hold the baby!’ she laughed. ‘The best thing is knowing that my favourite person in the world… I haven’t met them yet. It’s exciting.’
And she revealed that her husband Jay-Z was equally waiting with anticipation, when Couric asked about his no doubt huge excitement.
‘You can only imagine and multiply that,’ she said.
In the interview Couric also tried her hand at getting the singer to reveal the sex of the baby.
‘Should I get you a pink baby present or a blue baby present?’ she asked.
But Beyonce only coyly put her finger to her mouth and replied: ‘Hmm…’
However Couric pressed, telling her that her bestfriend Kelly Rowland had already let the sex of the baby slip.
‘Really?’ Beyonce asked.
‘She said that you were going to have a girl,’ Couric laughed.
‘Did she?’ the singer hummed, once again holding her finger to her mouth.

Yeah, I don’t even know at this point. Apparently, she’s eight months pregnant, and her bump keeps going up and down, up and down. I had my conspiracy theories all locked up a few months ago when I thought she was genuinely pregnant, but I’ll admit that at this point, I kind of doubt she’s even pregnant.

The interview was painful to watch. She looked uncomfortable, fake ( trying to be happy, smiley) and just ..not right.
She never even answered the question of what she craves — it was what the tabloids said or internet blogs said she craves. You could tell she was trying to bat Katies hand away from her.
She never touches her stomach like most pregnant women do, unless you count the time she was on stage to show it off or on the red carpet.
For a couple that is usually so VERY private about everything even their wedding date, it’s really odd they are so promoting this pregnancy. They don’t need to promote it, it can be announced if need be and left alone.

For a minute I did question her pregnancy but for the most part I agree that she is pregnant but has used a prosthetic bump to make the bump more “attractive” and fashionable when she is on stage or wants to garner attention from the paps. The conspiracy theories is exactly what Bey and her PR manager wanted. Does anyone really think some as starved for attention as Beyonce wanted to go into hiding during her pregnancy? Beyonce’s 4 was a failure by superstar standards and it doesn’t deserve a Grammy nomination. Her pregnancy is the only thing keeping her in the spotlight until her next album comes out.
I really don’t understand why people think Beyonce is faking her pregnancy. She’s been too public. I really have no opinion on whether she’s prego or not, but it’s true that different clothes really can change how your bump looks. When I was pregnant I had one dress that made me look HUGE! If Katie did touch her tummy and felt something strange, she wouldn’t say it during the interview anyway. Lawsuit. So Miss Thang is 8 mos? Really? I don’t know what to believe now, because the bump goes up and down and she hasn’t gained weight anywhere except in her stomach (allegedly). No nose spread, nothing and we ALL know what Miss Thang looks when she gains weight, so how is it she managed to only have a slight belly bulge (at times) and nothing else? It was kind of, to me, a “knee-jerk” reaction…kind of like Beyonce, in a nanosecond, thought to herself, “OMG, OMG, WTF is she doing?!” Then…her hand automatically goes toward Katie’s hand…in a “protective-like” measure/gesture. That pretty much said IT ALL for me.
Fake bump or not, I think Katie Couric’s action (touching her stomach/baby/whatever it is) was NOT IN GOOD TASTE. Katie is a REPORTER…not a family member of Beyonce’s, not a “good friend,” either. To me, it was an obvious violation of personal boundaries, and an obvious grab for attention (“newsworthy” to watch), & I was a little disgusted. I agree. I hadn’t seen a friend for a few years and when we saw each other, she was pregnant, so of course, my first instinct was to touch the belly. She moved back, not offended, but taken aback. It took her her a moment to collect herself. She said she was sorry and that she was tired of everyone trying to touch her belly, which is a very personal thing, and I apologised for not asking first. You just can’t go around touching someone just because they’re pregnant, and it might take a minute for them to think it’s okay.
Agreed on the belly-touching. I did it too when a family member got pregnant for the first time (I was 15 and overly enthusiastic). Needless to say, she taught me some manners :). When I think of it now, I can’t imagine what on earth I was thinking so for a grown woman like Couric to be doing this to somebody she doesn’t even know, is impolite and very tactless.

I was doubting she was preggers, but looking at that picture she now has ‘pregnancy face’. So now I think she is. I had it from 12 weeks onwards, so Beyonce’s face just puffed up a little later. She is really loving all this attention so much.

^^That can easily be faked, moonbump.com’s site sells various types of baby bumps that you can wear with bikinis and under your clothes as well. They even let you choose which type of material your bump can be made out of such as silicone, foam, etc…strange but true.
And there was a poster a few days ago who said she worked for one of Jay’s companies and that Beyonce has a surrogate and I believe her because Bey has never looked really pregnant to me. And as Trisha said at various points in the Katie Couric video like shortly after the 7 minute mark her bump seems to disappear/deflate altogether and she leans forward a lot which I’ve heard is near impossible to do when you’re allegedly that far along. That along with the folding dress fiasco, the changing due dates, the changing bump sizes and refusal to even give a month the baby might be due because now she wants privacy in order to “protect” her baby even though she made the pregnancy announcement in the most public way possible leads me to believe she’s not really pregnant at all.

No one wants to nit pick at Beyonce but when you are in the public eye you have to be very careful of the things you say and do about yourself. When Beyonce announced her pregnancy to millions of viewers her stomach looked as if she was about 6 months along, shortly after that, they were rumors that Jessica Simpson was pregnant and at that time Jessica Simpson was not even showing. Look at Jessica Simpson today and look at Beyonce, Ms Simpson coming from behind is huge, while Beyonce’s stomach is the same size she revealed it on TV, way back when. I don’t have anything personal against B, and her situation but her pregnancy is very perplexing and B is the one who threw it out to the public.
