A month ago, the rumors began – Jessica Simpson was already looking to profit from her post-pregnancy figure. This means that Jessica knows she’s going to gain a lot of weight during her pregnancy, and she’s already preparing to make a big deal about taking the weight off. Anyway, Jessica was already in negotiations with Weight Watchers, and now Page Six is reporting that a deal has been struck – $3 million for Jessica’s Weight Watchers endorsement! Good God.
Pregnant Jessica Simpson has just inked an estimated $3 million deal with Weight Watchers, Page Six can reveal. Sources tell us the blond star has been fielding offers from a number of weight-loss programs.
One source said, “The deal is in place, and after having her baby, she’ll start with Weight Watchers to lose her baby weight.” Simpson has another reason to get in shape fast — she hopes to wed her fiancé, Eric Johnson, soon after she gives birth.

On one side, I think it’s a good idea for Jessica to get ahead of what I’m sure will be endless tabloid stories about her weight, like always. On the other side, it’s very funny to me. Earlier this year, Jessica was all about training with Tracy Anderson, she of the chipmunk-cheeked eating disorders, 800-calorie diets and three-hour daily workouts. Jessica seemed to get more toned working with Tracy, but Jessica didn’t really change her diet of “lots of liquor, desserts, fried food, etc” so the weight loss obviously didn’t stick. It will be interesting to see Jessica do Weight Watchers, and I’ll find it hilarious if and when she can’t stick to it.

Hair hair looks freshly bleached – isn’t that a no-no when preggo? Or is there a timeframe; a safe window?
I’d guess it might be like the occasional glass of wine… okay in the later stages of pregnancy after the development stuff has been taken care of and baby’s just getting bigger.
It would be great if WW works for her.
I think that “no hair coloring while preggo” business is bullshit. I color my hair and my OB (who is a close friend who knows I color my hair) never said a word to me about ceasing colorings during either of my pregnancies.
Second that! My hairdresser says your hair may react differently, changing the time it takes to color or the resulting shade, but there is no affect on the baby. I know she’s a hairdresser not a doctor, but she is a mom and hair color is her business so…
I agree. My mid wife and doctor both said that the hair color, bleach, shampoo, conditioner, etc. would have to go into your BLOODSTREAM for it to affect the baby. Come on people, get over yourselves. Breathing the polluted air and inhaling McDonald’s is worse than what you do to your hair.
So you want her to fail? How nice of you.
Yeah, that seemed a bit harsh for someone as innocently dumb as Jessica.
I get it — it would be a sort of ironic dose of schadenfreude if she can’t stick to it with the huge incentive of a $3 million dollar payday. Not that we maliciously want her to fail, but it would be worth a giggle if 3 million dollars still couldn’t do the trick…….
Look, losing weight is hard work and takes discipline and commitment. I just don’t see Jessica having the attention span to make this a lifetime lifestyle change. That’s just reality.
Why? Why does anyone care what this dim bulb has to say about anything? I can’t believe how much attention she’s getting while being pregnant. I can’t wait for her to write a book about raising a child. Wait…..she probably doesn’t know how to write.
Her baby daddy is the one who looks like he is going to need weight watchers. He looks like he has put on 20 pounds or so.
Holy crap! $3 million?!?! This woman just FARTS money, doesn’t she? Where can I get her flatulence pills?
She is next Kirstie Alley. She will take that money, will lose some weight and then will gain all back. Thats the way it is. She and Mariah (and others) are the queens of yoyo effect. Without drastic gastric surgery it will not last forever. Ask Jennifer Hudson or Kelly Osbourne.
Hey, don’t put it past her. I mean, she has gotten super skinny before and she knows what it took to get there. I think when she really wants to lose, she can.
I agree. I just remember what she did for the Dukes of Hazzard!
My thoughts exactly. She did it before. With wedding, 3 mil AND public eye/opinion on her I’m sure that’s enough motivation for her to lose the weight if she also wants to lose the weight. In fact, I’m a bit jealous and fearful that she’ll go through pregnancy, post-pregnancy and weight loss with all her resources and support and I’ll STILL be struggling to shed these same 10 lbs even though tight clothes, attachment to said clothes and limited budget should be incentive enough to do so!
Predictable. Jessica’s PR denied the US Weekly story at the time of course. Maybe because the eventual deal was for $3 mill not $4 mill.
My wish for Jessica, in addition to a happy and healthy baby (boy, because I think she’d raise a girl with the same major self esteem issues and poor decision making tools she has), is for a stable and healthy weight whatever that may be for her. I hope she can stick to a healthy routine after the Weight Watchers publicity bit dies down.
Something nice: she is an absolutely gorgeous pregnant woman. She looks healthy and happy and just beautiful. All the best to her.
I agree. And also, she hasn’t put on much pregnancy weight. I was easily five times the size of her….
I second that – her skin looks amazing, and she seems so genuinely happy.
She is gorgeous! Pregnancy is def suiting her!
Agree! Pregnancy obviously agrees with her. So beautiful.
She is adorable. And from what I can tell, FAR from stupid. Jealous haters.
weird observation: Eric Johnson is really cute in profile.
…and congrats to Jessica, and best of luck to her 🙂
Ugh, freaking, ugh.
Clearly WW has more money than sense. It’s not like the franchise is hurting for exposure or endorsements, so why this? I’m interested in seeing how well she would fare if all of the bonus amenities afforded to celebrities were stripped away. Yeah, not so easy when you don’t have servants whose profession is making you look better than everyone else and practically putting the food in your gob for you. Maybe that three million would be better served if the true cause of rapid celebrity weight loss (lipo, voodoo, liquid diet, cigarettes, cocaine drip) got the credit that is due them. But no, good for her. It warms the cockles of my heart to see money wasted on stupid crap like this on someone so wealthy she probably pays the urchin equivalent of twelve cents per year in taxes. So it goes. Of course, before everyone starts jumping down my throat for being mean to ‘po’ widdle’, can you say with confidence that this isn’t…stupid? And isn’t anyone who sees her shed the weight with the help of her rarefied air and giant payout and believes that s/he can achieve the same results with nothing and for nothing…also stupid? We can dream, we can say we’re doing it for our health and two or three people might not be lying when they state this, but come the shit on! Celebrities routinely have their thought bubbles Photoshopped, so I’m not looking in that direction for real world results. Hindsight isn’t 20/20, vision is.
Well said. And, Truth.
LOL. I absolutely love what you have written Jo Mama! You are spot on. I find it hard to be ‘influenced’ by a ‘celebrity’ (whatever that means…I think it may mean superficial overpaid human who makes no real contribution to society). I see better value in weight related shows like Biggest Loser and Too Fat at Fifteen, than a ‘celebrity’ being paid a bunch of money to lose weight. I sure as h3ll won’t be ‘influenced by Jessica Simpson.
I think that Weight Watchers is the only sensible and safe weight loss plan. I have tried every diet ever invented in order to lose weight. You lose weight on all of them, however Weight Watchers allows you to learn how to eat without depriving yourself. I think this will be a wonderful way for Jessica to learn to control her impulses with food. One point most people don’t get is this – in order to be slim, you will be on a diet for the rest of your life. Not a highly restrictive diet, but you must change your way of thinking about food and give up mindless snacking.
I second, Weight Watchers can really work.
Of course she did!
I have an aunt whose done WW several times and has gained the weight back every time. You truly do have to have discipline and stick to it for your lifetime.
I see Jess gaining it back.
Is the payout dependent on Jess reaching a certain weight and/or keeping herself at that weight for a certain period of time? If so, this will be an epic fail and mega embarrassment for WW…Jess has been shown to not have the willpower to do it.
I was wondering the same thing. Maybe the deal she inked was WW would pick her up as their spokesperson IF she lost a certain amount of weight first. This announcement is not from WW. It is from a “source” which always means Joe Simpson. He just couldn’t resist speed dialing the tabloids to spill his guts about the possibility of wringing some more cash out of his daughter’s personal life.
If she doesn’t make weight (a very real possibility) and doesn’t get the job, Joe’s left her an out by reporting this as a “source”. Nothing has been confirmed by either side, but Joe got her name in the tabloids for another week.
Okay, I find this weird. Signing up to be a weight-loss spokesperson before you have even tried their program? before you even know if you will need the service? Don’t get me wrong, many women, myself included, have used WW to lose baby-weight. But she hasn’t even HAD the baby yet! The weight might come right off (I’ve heard this happens). She may decide she likes, or doesn’t care about, the extra weight. She might not even like the WW plan.
It just p*sses me off that celebrities make gajillions of dollars for “endorsing” products and services that they likely never use. J.Lo drives a Fiat? Sarah Jessica Parker colors her hair with Garnier?
I could see her taking the weight off. She obviously has the ability to stick to a routine when she needed to get in shape- her body was amazing for dukes of hazard. How long she can maintain the weight loss is the big question.
anyone who belives she’s getting $3 million isxas dimwitted as she is! Her creepy father is continually releasing this type of false information and the entertainment press just picks it up and prints it without questioning it. Remember the one about her being a billionaire?
She looks GREAT! Love her!!!!!!!!!!!!
Talk about motivation.
Jessica Simpson is rightfully gaining weight while she’s pregnant with her first child, but as Page Six reports, the pregnant celebrity is ready to drop those pounds to the tune of $3 million, as soon as she gives birth.
Sources tell the newspaper, the blonde singer inked the deal with Weight Watchers, which should help her speed up the process for her wedding to Eric Johnson.
Simpson’s weight fluctuations have proved to be of great interest to the public, so it’s somewhat surprising the 31-year-old isn’t relishing one of the only times she can gain weight (relatively) free of public criticism.
Still, this isn’t the first time the star has promised to slim down for cash — and is currently in litigation over it.
In 2005, Simpson was reportedly paid $500,000 to take part in an (unreleased) exercise video about losing weight, and instead, chose to gain weight and reap those benefits, alleges the CEO of the company that produced the video.
Following comments Simpson made to Lucky magazine about how gaining weight made her more relatable to the average woman, and helped in creating a billion dollar fashion empire, Speedfit’s CEO, Alex Astilean told the Huffington Post, he believes it was never Simpson’s intention to be the spokesperson for the video.
One thing is for sure, Simpson seems determined to make as much money off this pregnancy as possible. From unsuccessfully trying to wrangle $500,000 out of the tabloids to announce Hollywood’s worst kept secret, to the first photos of the child (which aren’t thought to bring in much money), to dropping the post-baby weight, the singer is making it clear her body and this baby is a business.
