Here’s the first teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises. It looks… um…er… is this a movie about prison gangs? Because the prison scenes in the first Nolan-Batman movie were the lowest, most boring parts of the whole series, in my opinion. Anyway, I’m getting a whole “this is an allegory of the American Prison State” vibe. Just like The Dark Knight was an allegory of the murky Iraq War and its post-Saddam descent into hell, with the Joker as the living embodiment of anarchistic chaos and the faceless insurgency. Maybe Bane is a living embodiment of the violent rejection of America’s white, elitist, entitled ruling class and the physical, emotional and economical imprisonment of the working and middle classes? So what’s Catwoman then? The Robin Hood figure? I don’t know.
I don’t mean to get so down on it – I’ll definitely be seeing it, and it totally looks good. Judging solely by who gets the screen time, I’m saying that Michael Caine is really doing some “proper acting” and that I’m not really afraid of Anne Hathaway’s portrayal of Selina Kyle/Catwoman. I’m a little bit afraid that they’re styling Selina to look like Audrey Hepburn, though.
As for Bane and his mask and how you can’t really understand him… maybe you get used to translating him after his first scenes. Or maybe Nolan will hear our bitching and redub Bane’s scenes.
On last thing – OMG, Matthew Modine! Who did he blow to get a part in this movie?

I’m excited about her too! Nolan sure likes her, but she’s talented!
Also, I was meh on Anne as Catwoman because I couldn’t see her in the role but I am freaking in love with that lace mask. love.
Can’t wait to see this. I’m not a comic book movie fan at all but I do love this current Batman incarnation. Probably because I love Christian Bale. And Michael Caine.
I do have to admit I haven’t seen many of the other Batmans… mainly because of the aforementioned lack of interest in comic book movies. But I liked Batman Begins a LOT so… here I am.
Anne is just not sexy, also that scene with the mask is copy of Batman Returns with Michelle Pfeiffer and she was better at being seductive.
This isn’t even close to the great trailer for Dark Knight.
Don’t think Nolan’s interpretation of Catwoman will be sexy. Sexy just doesn’t fit into Nolans versions of Batman. Think she will be cunning, more than sexy.
Looks good. I’ll be interested to see what they do with Catwoman and how Marion Cotillard and JGL are relevant to the plot.

Totally agree. They retained the silly comic book element – dark, but still campy and funny and weird.

Totally psyched!!! While I love all the guys (and girls) in it indiscriminately, I’m rooting for Tom Hardy. You just know Bane will be the most badass villain ever. “When Gotham is ashes, you have my permission to die.” Burn.
It is a fantastic line. And Hardy’s delivery gave me a chill.
Looks great, but I loved the first two so I’m definitely biased towards wanting it to be awesome.
Great cast – like that Nolan added some of his Inception crew with JGL and Marion.
Anne was a poor choise. I know she is in high demand (don’t understand why) but Eva Green or another sultry actress would have been a better choise.
Oh my goodness–imagining Eva Green is giving me chills. Yep. Total miscast. She’s not sexy at all. And that’s Catwoman’s defining characteristic. Aside from being crazy. That said…I watched this trailer 4 times in a row. SO EXCITED!!!

I don’t think this movie will be as good as the first two in the series. I just don’t see Bane as a very compelling or entertaining villain.
Bane of the comic books is awesome; Bane of Batman & Robin, i.e. Poison Ivy’s (hey!) bitch not so much – I’m guessing Chris Nolan is going with the former.
I do hate trailers that make me wait 7 months for a film I really wanna see, though.
I was surprised by the early preview, too. I understand wanting to build up hype, but when it’s this early the hype will dissipate before the movie’s released.

I’m trying to love Hathaway as Catwoman but there’s a part in me that goes “no, just no”. Probably because of the Pfeiffer performance, she rocked! I don’t want to have high expectations aboout it because then the letdown will be even harder.

i agree bane of the comic series, is really great.
now i really want to be excited for this but, the last one was a mess with the exception of heath ledger, and anne hathway as catwoman is really not not working for me.

I think Christopher Nolan is completely overrated as a director. I don’t like that he made Batman into another one of his cerebral films. The only reason the last one was as good was due to an awesome final preformance by Heath Ledger as The Joker, otherwise it sucked. I’m also still bitter about Catwoman going to Anne Hathaway. Of course I’ll go see it because I believe in supporting comic book films but I’m glad it’s over after this.
he made batman way too dark-not even goth or horror like some of the comic books were, but dark like a war movie for the lack of a better analogy. yes it feels like his movies are taking themselves too seriously at times. and the last film would have sucked if it wasn’t for heath ledger’s brilliant performance.
i can’t wait: i even like Anne Hathaway in the trailer and i LOVE how Caine delivers his line (i always liked the relation between Wayne and Alfred in Nolan’s Batman movies) but Bane is not very audible in my opinion

Nolan’s Batman movies are my favorites because it’s more than comic movies and his Batman/Wayne is the first that i really liked
I love Nolan and love his version of Batman!!! Burton gave Gotham a deliciously noirish feel, and there were some wonderful elements in his version, but IMO it is Nolan who brought Batman to life.
That said, Anne Hathaway has the sex appeal of a boiled carrot. I really, REALLY want her to pull Selina/CW off, but I just don’t see it. The clip above just struck me as too
“try hard” with her. Smh…
And I get a whole OWS vibe which I don’t like. The scene of Bane releasing the prisoners is straight out of Batman story called “Knightfall” and is part of Bane’s overall plan to weaken and break the Bat. That will be awesome! And if the rumors are true about who Marion is really supposed to be, this movie will be great. Hathaway is the only weak link I see.

I’m actually really shocked that I didn’t cringe when Hathaway popped on screen. Her delivery of her line seemed to have a little feline hiss to it, and the cut of her walking by the train with that big hat actually serves as a better promo image of “Selina Kyle/Catwoman” than that stupid image they put out of her riding the batcycle (cat-cycle?).
Im not terribly worried about understanding Tom Hardy. Bane’s speaking through a mask so it makes sense he’d be hard to understand, and I’m sure they tested the movie with small audiences to gauge whether or not they should clear it up in post-production.
Nolan was making the same trailer for his movies, so he switched it up… and it’s boring.

I have to sat I think Anna was a great choice. She looks fantastic in the trailer and I didn’t cringe at her acting. The girl can act to be honest so we’ll finally have a love interest that will be sexy and smart for Batman.
No offence to Maggie G, she’s a great actress but she and Bale had no chemistry together. It was so awkward seeing them try to be close when they looked like brother and sister.
catwoman should have been marion. but hathaway is delivering nicely to my surprise. who knows i always thought batman is overrated but i’ll see this ’cause everybody will talk about it and i’ll be left curious again… in the end
Can’t wait to see it and love what Nolan has does with the series. Tom Hardy is a beast of an actor, he’s one of the reasons I want to see it. Its not just normal prisoners escaping, probably the mobsters Harvey Dent put into prison. Prisoners that hate Gotham and want revenge. Bane will control the city through them. Bane is going to represent the violence and darkness of the city. Joker wanted the citizens and Gotham to turn one one another, reveal their degradation. Bane will force it, and just blow it the fark up. Won’t play games like the joker. Probably take out Batman in the process.
