Less than a week ago, Heather Locklear’s family called 911 and Heather ended up being hospitalized overnight after an alleged overdose, a mixture of alcohol and pills. There are different versions of the story, so I’m just going with People Mag’s version, which seems close to official – I think People has good sources in Heather’s family. People claimed that Heather was “out of control” last Thursday night after drinking heavily at a Lakers game and then going home and taking pills. One of the reasons for this relapse (Heather had similar problems in 2008) seems to be her broken engagement to Jack Wagner. Sources tell People that Jack is sober, and he disliked Heather’s continued usage of drugs and alcohol. People reported yesterday that Heather’s friends and family are encouraging her to go back into rehab (she went in 2008):
The initial scare is over. Now comes a difficult question for Heather Locklear.
After the Melrose Place actress was briefly hospitalized for reportedly mixing prescription drugs and alcohol, friends and family are hoping she’ll seek rehab, sources tell PEOPLE.
“She’s weighing her options right now,” says one source. “Her family is all over her with concern, and that’s a hard thing to hear.”
According another source, her battles with alcohol “go back a long time” but that “she was able to handle it and be in social situations and just fine.”
But turning 50 and having her engagement to Jack Wagner end has only exacerbated longtime insecurities, says the source. Then came the 911 call from her sister on Jan. 12.

In a trashier addendum to this story, Radar/Star Mag is reporting this week that the catalyst for last week’s breakdown was a fight Heather had with Jack Wagner:
It has been anything but a happy new year for troubled actress Heather Locklear, and the new issue of Star magazine has exclusive details on the former Melrose Place star’s recent meltdown.
Just days before being rushed to the hospital on January 12, the 50-year-old beauty had a blowout altercation with ex-fiancé, Jack Wagner, after he drove to her Sherman Oaks, California home to return some belongings.
“A huge argument erupted as they insulted each other’s families,” a source exclusively told Star. “As Heather went to her car, Jack lunged at her, trying to grab or push her. Her reaction was to swing. She caught Jack with a right hook across his face, knocking him to the ground.”
Wagner, 52,t hen put his hands around her and Heather slammed into the car, while he ran into the house, revealed the insider. Locklear quickly fled, but not before grabbing Jack’s dog and putting it in the car.
According to Star’s source, the drama didn’t end there. The police arrived and after speaking to them both they realized the gash across Wagner’s face was caused in self defense. “Heather didn’t want to press charges, so she left.”
The former co-stars called off their engagement in November after being together since 2007, and it’s been downhill for Heather ever since.
To manage her anxiety, “She used her doctor-prescribed pills…[and] would have an occasional drink to calm her nerves,” but as RadarOnline.com previously reported, the mixture of drugs and alcohol concerned her family and caused worried sister Colleen to call 911.

Good God, this is a hot mess. Heather is in a different position than most of the “starlets” who have similar hot-mess/drug problems though – Heather seems to have a lot of people around her who care about her well-being. I hope she’s listening to her family, and I hope she’s thinking about the messages she’s been sending to her daughter Ava, who is only 14 years old.

How sad – she seems very likable and down to earth. I’ve always liked her – maybe not so much as an “actress” but as a personality. Seems like she could turn things around if her partner is sober and her family cares….

I like Heather, always have. She is going through a tough period now and not being a doctor I don’t know the cause. I do that if you mix anti-depressants and anti-anxiety drugs with booze and continue to do so you will die. It has happened in my circle of friends. So I hope someone in her family can force her to get the help she needs, but I won’t hold my breath. Now as for People magazine, I used to look at it as a good magazine, now I look at it as less reliable than the National Enquirer because it allows people to plant their own stories and tell their own lies. And it too often takes sides between celebrities when they break up. God I hate that. I believe nothing I read in that rag that has to do with any type of celebrity. But that’s just me.
I hope she gets it together, for her sake and her daughter’s. And I think she needs to stay out of romantic relationships for a while, she seems to lose it when they end. Her daughter and her own health are far more important.
Ugh-the poor daughter-both of her parents are a mess. Get it together, Heather! Off to rehab stat!
Heather does not live in Sherman Oaks, so it makes me wonder how much of Star’s story is b.s.
Obviously the story was written incorrect as it says he went to her house but then everything else makes it seem like she was at his house, she went to her car,.she took his dog, he went into the house, she finally left after cops were there. Weird..

Neither is Wagner, I had to take a second look at him he does not look like the Frisco Jones I remember and I know everyone ages, but not into another person without the help of doctors.

Hee! I was just going to say, based on the second picture, that I love her crow’s feet! She may be botoxing, but it looks like she hasn’t gone under the knife.
I like the crow’s feet too. So preferable to that weird, plasticy look that many stars get when trying to rid themselves of all signs of aging.
Totally disagree. I think she’s aging very well and looks great! A little bloat, perhaps, but give her a break already. She has shown remrkable restraint given her profession.
Also disagree she just needs to “grow up.” If it were that simple, people wouldn’t struggle with addiction and recovery. It’s complicated and it sucks – and I do hate it for her daughter. Hope she manages to pull through and get her daughter in counseling.
Look, I can’t speak for other posters, but I will clarify what I meant when I said Heather needs to grow up. By that, I meant that, when a woman becomes a mother, it is time to stop putting yourself first and put that child’s needs ahead of your own. Doing this is the mature, responsible, necessary thing; Heather’s continued drinking/drugging behavior is incredibly selfish and proves that she isn’t as concerned about her daughter as she should be.

It’s easy to see why things wouldn’t work out if he’s sober and she’s having difficulties managing her own drinking and pill taking. I think that Story B sounds totally fabricated. Story A sounds much more plausible – he’d had enough of her drinking and moved on. She reacted badly (hey, turning 50 isn’t a piece of cake) and indulged when she shouldn’t have. She needs to get herself in check and get the drinking and drugging handled. Is that the legacy she wants to pass on to her young daughter? And it looks like she lost a cute and nice guy due to her bad habits. Time to clear house, Miss Locklear. Get thee to rehab!
The story is b.s. In california, if there is evidence of injury during a domestic dispute, somebody is arrested. Period. End of story. If he has the only evidence of injury, then she’s going to get picked up, regardless of whether she’s famous or not. Cops can’t take the chance that somebody ends up dead and then people want to know why they had the chance to step in and didn’t.

I really don’t care how “nice” a person Heather may seem to be. This is tough love here….this woman has been through this BEFORE..and she never seems to learn. She has a daughter, for God’s sake, & she’s still guzzling alcohol & taking pills! Her daughter is a teenager, & teenagers need ROLE MODELS & GUIDANCE…of which Heather seems to be oblivious.

Holy cow, I have never seen two rolls of fat on her before. From menopause depression hit a lot of middle-aged women and they abuse alcohol. I was surprised by the article I read on how many middle-aged women turned to alcohol.
I would never marry an alcoholic or someone who drinks excessively. They just get that dull, slack-eyed look on their face. Ughhhh. He was right to back out.
Heather is such a sweet person. I really hope she comes through this, but she seems to keep doing it these last few years.

Me, too..I’ve always liked her. She has to quit ruining her life. I agree, the black satin dress looks bad, ouch! The alcohol will ruin her body and add all that weight..and she’s probably not working out either. She’s apparently not happy and she’s sunk pretty low already. The drugs/drinking may have caused her relationship issues, too, but I don’t really know this guy. He could have done something unfortunate, or they don’t get along well. Too bad, but she can still turn over a new leaf anytime and get on the right track.
i can’t help but be reminded of how she jokingly cried on wayne’s world saying “i just want my life back”… it was funny then, and feels sad now 🙁
This might have nothing to do with the story whatsoever…but I think she is aging quite gracefully. She is not looking a plasticy as in the earlier years and rather more relaxed in the face, perhaps eased off the botox.
Jack Wagner is having an inappropriate relationship with his biological daughter he just met. That caused the breakup and Heather’s breakdown. I know this because my husband just reunited with his biological daughter who is in her 30’s. he never met her before but as soon as they reunited there were sparks and they started the same kind of relationship. I lashed out the same way because there is no recourse for the wife.
