Madonna has made no secret of the fact that she wants to snatch a baby girl as soon as she can mail order one to “redress the balance” in her family. She had little Davie Banda shipped to her after just a couple of weeks, flouting the laws of Malawai which require adoptive parents to stay in the country for at least 18 months.
An Australian Missionary family who has lived in Malawai for seven years is going through the lengthy, frustrating adoption process to gain custody of a little 18 month-old girl who happened to catch Madonna’s eye during her brief visit. The family has two biological sons and four adoptive children and are close to being approved to adopt Jessica Kondanani. Officials claim Madonna wants to add Jessica to her family, and the Australians are worried that she’ll get her first.
Malawian officials revealed the singer had been planning to adopt 18-month-old Jessica Kondanani before choosing David Banda after discovering how ill he was.
They still expect her to return to the impoverished African country to formalise her adoption of Jessica, who was found abandoned under a bush.
However her plans are likely to be thwarted because an Australian couple are already in the middle of adopting the youngster.
Australian missionaries Angela and John Wilmot spoke of their fears that their plans could be put in jeopardy by the 48-year-old pop queen.
Madonna recently revealed that she plans to adopt a baby girl as soon as possible, and they have been told she was referring to Jessica.
In an interview with Closer magazine Mrs Wilmot, 34, said: ‘We heard that Madonna was interested in a child, who we now hear is Jessica – but we are quite far down the line with our adoption’.
The couple, who moved to Malawi seven years ago with their two sons and have already adopted four children there, already had the adoption process underway when the singer lodged her intention to give Jessica a home.
Madonna spent two hours with the little girl at the Kondanani Orphan Care Centre at Blantyre earlier this year.
Penstone Kilembe, Malawi’s Minister of Child Welfare, said: ‘Her first choice, before David, was Jessica Kondanani. We suspect she was abandoned by her mother – possibly a schoolgirl’.
Mrs Wilmot said: ‘We knew Madonna was at the orphanage and she had met all the kids but we were already in the process of adopting Jessica and we hope we will be successful’.
David’s father, Yohane Banda, plays with his three year-old stepbrother
Rumor had it that a Canadian woman wanted to adopt David Banda first, and that Madonna was told of those plans and still had the infant overnighted to her in London. That rumor didn’t seem substantial to me, but Madonna was definitely told Davie had a father. (David’s father recently married his 3-months pregnant wife, a woman he met on one of his regular bike rides to see his son at the orphanage. He says he now gives Madonna his blessing.)
If Madonna does want to adopt Jessica, I hope she rethinks her choice considering that a caring Australian family is going through all the proper channels to gain custody of her – at least according to the dubious magazine source, Closer. Given Madonna’s history, it’s doubtful she’ll give it more than a moment’s thought.
A Malawian judge has postponed a hearing requested by multiple human rights groups that seek to challenge Madonna’s adoption of Davie Banda. He says he doesn’t want to deal with that shit right now and will do it next week once the Americans are busy with the holidays.

There ought to be LAWS against Madonna.
eh, Madge is becoming completely irrelevant. I think she knows this and just generating more publicity to keep her face in the news. Madge, Madge, go away and adopt a baby another day.
***There ought to be LAWS against Madonna.***
Hear, hear!
You guys shouldnt believe everything you read.
Mr T. I love the song, that’s hilarious.
I think she did a great job to adopt the boy, and God should bless her for that.Giving a good chance for a better future to those orphans is more important than a publicity stunt. People should encourage those stars, for doing the right things
Athena,
With all due respect, Madonna is doing a diservice to adoption. Adoption begins at home. Why not adopt a homeless child from America or England? This Africa thing does not help either Africa or your home country. These are media outings at the expense of a poor child. Why not donate money to the orphanage and improve the plight of the country? Blah, its a media stunt done by a media whore plain and simple.
Athena, i think you must e cracked. Life in an orphanage is not the same as that in a family! David is better off in a family than in that place. The American/English kids might as well live in an orphanage and perhaps would even spend better time here than in a home. You should go to Africa and see how many kids die in orphanges. In Europe/America that doesn’t happen.
L love you Madonna! Keep this up!
Ops sorry Athena, my previous mail was adressed to Mr. T!…i do agree with you Athens…Luv ya!

An adopted baby adoption can take some characteristics from its adopted parents, studies have shown that the longer you are around someone the more you tend to act like them and favor them. Children adoption will of course begin taking characteristics of their adopted parents once they have been about them for some time. After trying unsuccessfully for years, a lot of couples decide to look into infant adoption.
