Kirsten Dunst attended last night’s Met Gala, and I think it’s fair to state that Kiki is not into this sh-t. She looks awful, and it’s not the outfit, which is a quite lovely custom Rodarte gown in red-orange crepe wool that’s paired with a double-lapel jacket and a black belt. The outfit has a flattering shape and is clearly meant to be worn with a ton of confidence, but Kirsten just isn’t bringing it.
Quite frankly, Kirsten looks like a mannequin here. Her makeup is flat and uninspired, and her facial expression clearly demonstrates that she’d rather be elsewhere. However, I could be interpreting her attitude at this event entirely wrong because I just rewatched Melancholia over the weekend and might be projecting a “depressed” aura onto Kirsten. Am I seeing things, or does Kirsten look like she could topple over at any moment due to the sheer weight of the world?
You know who would’ve worn the hell out of this outfit? Tilda Swinton.
I will say that (in concept) Kirsten’s hair looks pretty good in retro waves with a lovely star-patterned, mega clip to pin back the sides. The execution is a bit sloppy, but that might have to do with the sour expression on Kirsten’s face that is throwing me off the scent of the whole look.

Awful she looks like a granny.
Hmm…very 20’s looking. Not too sure I like this either. I kinda of like the hair however.
She has that hard Fraulein dry look that we’ve seen in many World War II movies. I like the concept, but it does not flatter Kiki. Makes her look… harsh and sort of churlish.
I hate the whole look.
You and I are on different planes today. You like THIS, but hate Emma Stones dress????? Are you serious????
Much worse than Sofia’s dress. This is awful on her.
I love her face, so beautiful
Why would she wear this? Why?
She Always Does this: Fugness and Horror, Jesus Himself couldn’t save this Dress, that color, the white on top… is Horrible
lol @ “fugness & Horror”! Seriously though…she needs help…
In defense of Kirsten, there were some photogs yelling and hurling insults at her for not looking “their way”. So yeah, I would look mad too.
I love this look. Very Schiaparelli. The hairpiece is gorgeous. Dress looks even better on video. Too bad Garrett walked the red carpet separately. Guess we have to wait for Cannes.
Ummm.. no Kiki :/
Hahahahaha! Uh, no…
Kirsten Dunst, circa 1928.
Classic Golden Age Hollywood star .. her skin is to die for.. woo..
Yes…beautiful skin but this ensemble is a complete & total fail. It looks like she is wearing someone else’s clothes.
no, just no..
i like the tomato red. i can’t believe it but i think i like it. maybe because it was so different, you know, tits not pushed up and out or side dangling.
it did look very period-y, more 30s/40s than 1920s.
Looks like a Santa Claus suit!
Yep! She just never gets it right.
Yes! That was my first thought- um she dressed as santa? well, that is unexpected, at least. Maybe its more orange than red in person, but I can’t imagine the thought process here.
Bless her lil pea pickin’ heart! I really love her as an actress. Not an annoying or fameho’ing young lady. I like the roles she chooses. I’d rather see her in something younger looking.
This is a dress age proper for someone like Helen Mirren but not for Kirsten, definitely to matronly for her.
I think her outfit could have looked good, but you’re right, her btch-face is kind of ruining it. Also, the belt is ruining it. Looks too big or not the original belt or something……..LOVE the hair on her, very 1920s. That’s the right era for her looks.
Not digging the color on her, it’s too ‘warm’ for her skin tone IMO.
I love KK look: vintage, elegant, perfect fitting. I adore her since forever but I have to admite that she rarely gets good red carpet photos. She’s very pale and the flashes do nothing for her and they might even hurt her eyes. .
I really liked this look on her. It was one of the most interesting dresses of the evening. Very Coco Chanel of her.
Doesn’t do it for me. Agree that Tilda would rock this look. Kiki just doesn’t have the panache to carry it off.
Um I actually love this…But then again, I’m obsessed with the 20s.
That said, it’s the wrong look for the occasion. It’s a little more mother-of-the-bride, rather than Gala.
Is it halloween? The dress is not a good look on her – bad color. And her hair is silly.
She looks like a German frau circa 1939 Berlin.
I love this dress. Seriously love it. It looks totally vintage but absolutely contemporary.
This shapeless dress ages her so much and does absolutely nothing for her cute figure. I don’t like her hair either. It’s too severe looking. That gigantic star haircomb thingy is dreadful.
I’m not crazy about the colour but I love the style of the jacket. Maybe it needs a pencil skirt? I don’t know, I do kind of like the idea.
My grandma has a skirt suit from the 50’s that looks just like this. Same tone of orange and polyester fabric and everything. Not many people can pull off a mature look like this.
You’re absolutely right, Tilda would have rocked it.
jesus! How old is she????
It’s an almost, in the photograph. Modern tailoring and maybe in like, navy blue, and…it would have been perfect. I love the hair piece.
I love it.
I LOVE this, but her face looks busted.
Jesus what a horrible look. Just a big pile of NO. It’s like if Miss Hannigan raided little orphan Annie’s closet.
Only Dita Von Teese could have pulled off this dress.
Exactly! You are so spot on Eleonor.
NOT a pretty girl. And she cant dress for the life of her. She looks 50 plus!
I like the dress alot – but maybe not on her? Sometimes Kristen’s face is gorgeous and sometimes it looks pretty rough – here I’m thinking rough, and I’m not sure if it’s the hair (I suspect that’s part of it) the makeup, or the color of the dress…
I happen to love Kirsten, but I’m not sure the color of this flatters her. I don’t hate it, just think the color is all wrong and it’s kind of too old for her. Her hair looks beautiful.
Creamsicle. Her face (not the dour pic) looks clean, minimal; and I like the hair, minus the stars).
oh wow you can REALLY tell she likes to drink never seen more alcoholic face…well maybe outside a pub in london
I like the look a LOT.
Love her skin! amazing!
I mean, this is wildly fantastic. Almost hilarious, in a way. She lives in Germany now, right? This girl marches to the beat of her own drum, that’s for sure. Reminds me of what my grandmother’s wearing in our family portrait taken in Sweden around 1919. This ensemble is transporting and she rocks. (Kirsten that is…oh, and my grandma, too!)
