Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt talk about their kids and lives

Angelina Jolie is doing the press junket in England for Changeling, which opens there next week. Her partner Brad Pitt is promoting his film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button which is out this Christmas in the US.

Angelina talked to GMTV in the UK in an interview that’s making the rounds. You have to hand it to her, she really answers questions thoroughly and is pretty open with journalists. The mother of six talked about her imperviousness to the tabloid media and said that it’s a subject that they just don’t really consider in their household. She also said that not all of her children were with her in London but that they had brought four month old twins, Knox and Vivienne, with them.

On the tabloid headlines:
I don’t know about them. Fortunately the newspapers I read or the television programs I watch I’m not mentioned. I have nobody around me that brings up anything. It’s kind of rule around the house that we just ignore all that stuff.

Says the paparazzi don’t bother them:
It never worries us… we’re here and we’ve got our babies up in the room and we have to think about how we get them to the car and into the airport and hoping nobody pushes or shoves… We’re only here for one night. We just brought the twins.

On breastfeeding the twins: she stopped at three months
I stopped at three months. That was about as much as I could do. It’s very hard. You look at the books and see ‘oh there’s the football hold.’ It’s a lot harder than it looks in the book. I did that a few times, but I would take turns and it just takes a long time.

On getting pregnant during filming
We decided to start trying [to get pregnant] at the beginning and by the end I was. We shot the mental institution [scenes] last, so by the mental institution I was.

On ‘fading away’: never say never
Nobody should ever say “I’m retiring…” so it’s not as dramatic as that. It’s been a year since I’ve worked and I’ll work for a few months and maybe it will be another year, maybe two, and I’ll just work every once in a while… I feel very lucky… that I’m financially able to not work all the time.

On marriage: it’s not that important to her
It’s not [that important]. We jumped into being a family first and that seems like the biggest commitment you could make anyway. It doesn’t feel like anything is lacking.

On the media attention
We really just don’t talk about it. The only time it ever collides is if we’re trying to get ready for some event where we have to walk the carpet and somebody gets peed on.

Brad Pitt’s interview with Oprah airs today and everyone is jumping on the cute advance details that have come out. Oprah has a clip on her website in which Pitt says Angelina “has the biggest heart” and talks about how he’s become comfortable with the messy aspects of fatherhood and says “I’m impervious to poo, snot, urine, vomit… You can’t break me down.” Just Jared has a few more of Brad’s quotes, which are covered in brief advance segments that are available on People.com and US Weekly.

Brad is definitely less comfortable with interviews than Angelina but he’s doing what he has to do to promote his films, and he is giving out some personal information that people crave. It’s not too personal though and doesn’t seem out of the ordinary. Which parent hasn’t dealt with poo, pee and puke? We do have a friend who’s never changed his son’s diaper, though. That was just unbelievable to my husband and me.

Here’s Brad on Oprah, thanks to US Weekly. There are two more brief clips at People.com.

  4. Celebitchy says:

I know this is going to be a long thread, and I tried to put both stories together instead of dragging it out. These are top on People and US Weekly today and I didn’t think we could avoid them.

  5. geronimo says:

Wise move, CB. Contain the beast. 8)

  6. Mairead says:

Time to get the paracetamol in then CB πŸ˜†

How about we stage an intervention for their own good BADettes? One team distract Angie with a set of Waris dIrie books and the rest kidnap Brad and place him safely within the confines of the underground chamber in the German Pavillion in Barcelona until the promotion season is over? πŸ˜‰

In AJ’s defence before everyone starts tearing into her, GMTV is typical early-morning viewing (in between 5-minute segments on bullying and sock-sorting) with quite nicey-nicey presenters, so asking questions about the family is what they do.

Remember they cater to a huge, diverse, audience who don’t follow the celebgossip news as avidly as we do.

  7. GrnMtGirl says:

    Whatev… πŸ™„

  8. heddi says:

can these two shut up already?
    please?

we don’t care about you and your kids.
    we just don’t care.

  9. roller says:

im pretty much sure angelina knows what the papers say about her. or else she wouldnt be trying too hard to prove how happy she is and how perfect her life is. brad needs to get rid of his stache, it makes him look like a perverted internet flasher

  10. Rose says:

Yep, you don’t care SOOO much you had to comment.

  11. vdantev says:

*beats his head against the keyboard*

    Not Again !!

    AJ fatigue….rising…….

  12. Tess says:

I’ll comment on Brad’s appearance and leave the sturm und drang for those more emotionally invested in this particular psychodrama.

Back to Brad…he’s reminding me of Marlon Brando in the Godfather, esp when he’s wears “The Hat”.

  13. xiaoecho says:

“Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt talk about their kids and their lives”

    ….ad nauseum

  14. Kaiser says:

I saw that clip from Oprah yesterday – Brad’s comments are really funny. He makes Shiloh sound like a hellraiser.

G, Mairead – Sometimes, as I read one of these Jolie/Pitt posts, I have a brief moment where I think, “Surely this will be an utterly unscandalous thread where the insane rantings will die down.” And then I get to the comments. 😯

  15. 88modesty88 says:

Oh ding dang… I’m not feeling up to this!

    I’m all for the intervention!

  16. James Davis says:

Oh my god….I am SO SICK of hearing about these two. Everywhere I go..everywhere I surf..please please..no more!!!

  17. Mia says:

This is getting pathetic by a minute! πŸ™„

  18. OMG says:

    boring…..

  19. Syko says:

Where, in all the rules CB has for this site (you know, where you can’t post twice or pick on other posters) does it say “Thou must read every post”? Nor does it say “Thou must respond to every post.” If you don’t like hearing about their family, then skip those threads.

I like hearing about their family. That’s the coolest thing about either one of them, and I like the stories about Empress Z and the other kids. Like watching them grow. My grandkids are big and hulky now, so I enjoy watching all these toddlers from a distance. Keep on talking, Brad and Angie!

  20. vdantev says:

I’d also like to register a complaint about this dead parrot I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique !!

Syko, some of us just want a little moratorium from AJ/Brad/JA thing, until something interesting actually happens to them- like an explosion.

  21. dr.grrl says:

i’m with you Syko! i don’t mind hearing what the JP’s are up to.

it seems that they are dammned if they do speak about their families or if they don’t.

it’s their jobs to promote each movie and questions will inevitably turn to the personal information. it’s not like these two are seeking out the paps to talk to randomly.

they have a cute family and do much for the country and world at large. maybe if people could get over the gossip and focus on the good work they wouldn’t be so tired of these two.

there is way more to AJ and BP than being two beautiful people. too bad peoples blinders only focus in on the minute details!

  22. Codzilla says:

The critical issue we’re really facing here is knowing for sure whether or not Brad dyes his eyebrows.

  23. Lore says:

What else is there to say?????

  24. Michelle says:

    Codzilla πŸ˜†

  25. Megan says:

“I’d also like to register a complaint about this dead parrot I purchased not half an hour ago from this very boutique !!

Syko, some of us just want a little moratorium from AJ/Brad/JA thing, until something interesting actually happens to them- like an explosion. ”

^ ^ ^ This entire comment made me laugh!

  26. Granger says:

Hey, I’m a die-hard fan, but the longer this press junket plays out, the less original Angelina’s comments get, so I can see why non-fans are sick of them. Having said that, I’m with Syko — if you don’t want to hear anymore, don’t read the article!

It’s weird that people are so up in arms about Brad’s stache. Isn’t it for a film role???

  27. kate says:

didn’t they promise to “fade away” soon?!

  28. Alecto says:

I thought the headline was going to read:
“Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt talk about their kids and lives again.”

I’m a Brangalina fan too but aren’t they worried that all this over exposure is going to have the opposite effect. How many times can they do interviews on how “perfect and happy” their lives are. It seems like that’s what all the interviews are about.

  29. Cheyenne says:

To everybody who is “sick and tired” of hearing about them — evidently you weren’t too sick and tired to tell everybody how sick and tired you are. If you don’t want to read about them, don’t click on the thread. It ain’t rocket science.

  30. monica says:

she says almost the exact same thing every time, even the things about her mother except last time she she cried!
i like reading about them, even the mundane stuff but they are getting…boring (OMG…i said it…boring).

  31. sauvage says:

I never had anything against Brad and Angelina, but now they start getting on my nerves. Is it just me or is she saying the same things in every g**d*mn interview?

  32. TC says:

Hey, I am just thanking the powers that be that we aren’t reading about stupid Paris or stupid Heidi/Spencer anymore. I can read about Brad/AJ/JA all day long. If you want to see them fade away, then you have to be part of the solution and quit reading/commenting/buying their stories. I like it, kindof sad for the kids, but I will take them any day over the celebutard crowd.

  33. IMO says:

I love her hair. The waves and the dark hue are awesome (The more waves and curls the better), but I think she should change her style.

The black thing is so old and she has done it like a million times.

  34. devilgirl says:

    Codzilla-Lol! πŸ˜†

  35. miss_kitteh says:

I actually like reading about them, and I’m not on either ‘team’. Maybe my interest stems from my belief that they’ve built their house of love on a foundation of betrayal, and I’m just waiting to see what karma has in store for them. Is it just another on-set romance? Are they soulmates for eternity? Will Jen ever have her own babies? I just enjoy watching it all play out. πŸ™‚

  36. Mairead says:

Again, we’ll explain that Karma is to do with future lives, not this one. If it’s more immediate “retribution” that the karma-mongers want, then just stick to the wiccan return-by-threes belief, or trite sayings like “what goes around comes around”

Given the dogged belief so many people here have in karma divvying out punishment in future lives, I wonder if they’ve ever stopped to consider that perhaps poor unfortunate Jennifer’s percieved woes are due to her behaviour in previous lives?

    No. Thought not.

I’m not a believer in karma, but I think that wishing bad karma on anyone is a rotten thing to do as one’s condeming a future child and person to misery to satisfy their own morals. Which i think is highly immoral, ironically. πŸ™„

  37. Amy says:

I don’t understand people who hate AG/JA/Brad Pitt and who keep commenting their annoyance about how much we’ve heard about them lately. While this is true, nobody is forcing you to click the link or to read the article. Just. Don’t. Read. It.

  38. daisy424 says:

Benjamin Button looks like a great film, looking forward to seeing it.

    Codilla πŸ˜‰

  39. someone says:

Theres nothing new about this, every time Angelina opens her mouth, its something about her lovely famil;y…STFU..I know personal stuff about her and Brad that no one should know, because of her big mouth!

  40. Henny Penny says:

What’s with his stache & pleated front jeans?? Gag. Oh & Brangelina, STFU about your family already.

  41. xiaoecho says:

    Mairead…….. what’s the “..return-by-threes” Wiccan thing?? 😐

  42. ff says:

Hey, thanks CB – you tried. It’s the thought.

Black would be relatively impervious to spills and drool and whatnot. It makes sense with six kids.

When I get tired of these two I stop reading their threads – although chatter about them is hard to avoid even when they’re not involved in the main article.

I’m glad she didn’t say she was retiring and gave herself wriggling room.

  43. monica says:

wiccian rule of three_ do unto other and you shall receive in the same form , three times good or three times bad

  44. Mairead says:

Sorry for the confusion xiaoecho – didn’t have time to research my answer properly earlier, and probably should have left it out. I think that there’s a Wiccan belief that whatever you send out into the universe, universe, it’s returned to you three-times as much. So if you cast a spell for good, the good intent will return to you three-times as strong.

Now. I could be entirely wrong and if there are any wiccans or more knowledgeable types here, feel free to tell me I’m talking out of my a*re on this one πŸ˜€

  45. xiaoecho says:

Oh, OK Mairead thanx. Sort of like karma but scarier πŸ˜†

  46. Mairead says:

πŸ˜† for sure. And presumably applicable in this lifetime as opposed to some undefined future reincarnation. πŸ˜‰

@ monica, bless your cotton socks for defining it better

  47. Anne says:

Hmmm…when isn’t she talking about Brad, her kids and their lives??? I guess if people are asking she will answer the same question a thousand times.

  48. morgs says:

Why doesn’t she have any wrinkles? I want her makeup artist and esthetician. Even when people say she looks tired she looks awesome. Her “tired” and my “tired” are on two different planets.

  49. Buttercup says:

I’m looking forward to Brads new film, its got a good cast and looks original and interesting, which is more than can be said for most new movies these days!

  50. Tricky says:

I love reading about Angelina Jolie, she at least does useful things for the community unlike most of the people talked about in the internet gossip world.

The way some of you act and talk about this family is pretty disgusting. Seriously, if you’re oh so annoyed by them, just don’t read the stories, leave your pissy comments out of it, it’s rather immature and shows poor taste.

  51. Ter says:

I enjoy reading about them and Angie is always a treat to look at, but I often blow past a story because of sheer overload. I wish them well but if they break up I can’t see that it would be anything but messy, you just factor in all the kids and trying to sort that issue out alone, and well, WOW!

  52. Cheyenne says:

Wow, did anybody see Brad Pitt on Oprah today and listen to him talk about his life with Angelina and their children? It’s as if Aniston never existed!

  53. Paloma says:

If you were to follow a famous author on a book tour or a politician doing town hall meetings you would more or less hear the same questions and therefore the same answers. The Jolie-Pitts are answering questions that the interviewers are asking. I expect the media blitz will continue for several months. Just expect it. Eventually it becomes white noise.

  54. DD says:

These family questions seem so repetitive, I think AJ also keeps popping them into most of her answers too. When asking how they deal with the paparazzi “brouhaha” Did she really have to say that her twins are up in the room? Isn’t she worried about security? Maybe it’s just me, I personally wouldn’t reveal all these details about my kids, there’s a lot of sickos in this world.

  55. Kim says:

*SIGH. When did she say she was going away? I hope that is before she starts telling us about how her farts smell or the size of her last poo.

May be she should read her own press and visit the blogs more often. Then she would realise that every one is effing tired of her super botoxed face and soulless eyes. Notice that no one is that eager to see the twins again.

BTW, what happened to that huge vein on her large forehead? I see her hands still look like a chicken foot.

DD Angelina is not stupid, she knows that if she says the twins are with them, it will increase the interest. That is all she is interested in. She pulled out all stops including crocodile tears to sell a movie that is doing dismally at the box office.

  56. WTF?!?! says:

    Kim:

ROFLMAO!!! You pretty much hit every point square on the head. Brava!!!!

  57. jacqueline says:

    o ye of little faith . . .

    this is how it goes:

Brad & AJ get the funding for health & education projects for children in war-torn countries.
They hope their children will eventaully want to help support these projects also.
They both love their family and each other.
They choose lucrative work (for the minimum uphevel) to elicit the above.

It used to be called philanthropy; helping those less well-off than yourself.
It requires compassion, empathy and sympathy . . . . and loadsa money.

  58. keltilass says:

I like seeing and hearing about the JPs.

The only reason they sound repetitive is due to the questions they are asked. Blame the interviewers for not having better questions.

I recall reading one article claiming Angelina and Brad said if they were going to be hounded by the paps they should take them to interesting places. Looks like they’ve done that just fine.

  59. wise_adviser says:

She is saying she will leave acting because every time she does a movie and needs to promote it she either adopts or has a baby!! comme on! how many kids can they handle??

“…I will fade away…” putt in the titanic music in there and it really looks funny

    =)

  60. boring says:

brad look like Marlon Brando ha. he does not even compare to Brando when he was fat
