Kristen Stewart covers the July issue of Vanity Fair magazine. These are some selected photos from the Mario Testino shoot – thoughts? I’ve praised Kristen’s makeup artist before, and once again, I think her makeup looks great… but I’m gradually coming to the opinion that Kristen simply has a face that “takes” extreme makeup. You know, some girls can’t DO dramatic makeup – I’m one of them. I look better when my makeup is natural and “dewy” – not “dramatic”. Kristen can pull off extreme makeup looks. I think the little dog on her lap is kind of dumb, though. She’s not Paris Hilton. She’s not a fashion girl carrying around a little dog in her Birkin.
As for the VF interview… well, VF really went out of their way to release some of the best quotes. It feels like VF is really trying to win over the all-powerful Twihard contingent, especially when Kristen goes off, yelling at her biggest critics (although I don’t think she accurately assesses her critics’ arguments).
“I have been criticized a lot for not looking perfect in every photograph,” Kristen Stewart tells Vanity Fair contributing editor Ingrid Sischy in July’s cover story. “I get some serious sh-t about it. I’m not embarrassed about it. I’m proud of it. If I took perfect pictures all the time, the people standing in the room with me, or on the carpet, would think, What an actress! What a faker! That thought embarrasses me so much that I look like sh-t in half my photos, and I don’t give a f–k. What matters to me is that the people in the room leave and say, ‘She was cool. She had a good time. She was honest.’ I don’t care about the voracious, starving sh-t eaters who want to turn truth into sh-t. Not that you can say that in Vanity Fair!”
On top of battling personal reluctance, Stewart also struggles with the public’s preconceived notions about her personality. “People have decided how they are going to perceive her,” Robert Pattinson tells V.F. of Stewart. “No matter how many times she smiles, they’ll put in the one picture where she’s not smiling.”
But for all her nose-thumbing at critics who demand perfection, she looks pretty perfect in the photographs from July’s Vanity Fair, in which she poses at locations across Paris in spring’s couture for contributing photographer Mario Testino. In some of the most glamorous photographs, Stewart wears haute couture at the ballet, posing with dancer Jérémie Bélingard in a pantless Jean Gaultier corset and dripping in Fabergé diamonds and emeralds, at right.
Of her personal style, she tells us she’s evolved into loving wearing “some cool sh-t” from the world’s most respected and avant-garde designers, although she wasn’t always attuned to the power of fashion. “Look at a picture of me before I was 15. I am a boy. I wore my brother’s clothes, dude! Not like I cared that much, but I remember being made fun of because I wasn’t wearing Juicy jeans. I didn’t even think about it. I wore my gym clothes. But it’s not like I didn’t care that they made fun of me. It really bothered me. I remember this girl in sixth grade looked at me in gym and was like, ‘Oh my God! That’s disgusting—you don’t shave your legs!”
Now past the initial sting of her harsh childhood critics, Stewart has developed into a wry and at-ease adult, and Sischy caught her in the mood for modest adventures—like when she takes the actress to a quiet, tucked-away table in the back of a Parisian seafood restaurant, where they are offered escargot, a dish that Stewart has never tried. After warily eyeing the snails, she dives right in—washing them down with white wine and bread—and says with a grin, “Pretty good. Though I just don’t want to eat a whole plate of them.”
Of her life as a major star, she reflects on the moment when she realized that Twilight had changed her life. “You can Google my name and one of the first things that comes up is images of me sitting on my front porch smoking a pipe with my ex-boyfriend and my dog. It was [taken] the day the movie came out. I was no one. I was a kid. I had just turned 18. In [the tabloids] the next day it was like I was a delinquent slimy idiot, whereas I’m kind of a weirdo, creative Valley Girl who smokes pot. Big deal. But that changed my daily life instantly. I didn’t go out in my underwear anymore.”
For her part, author Sischy sees “something so endearing, so human, about [Stewart’s] combination of bravado, kindness, self-preservation, self-assertion, and revved-up fierceness that I found her cheering. Of course, her idealism and drive to tell it as she sees it—the voracious, starving shit eaters be damned!–could be just a product of her youth. She could grow up to be another narcissistic snore, but my sense is that’s not in the cards here.”
[From Vanity Fair]
In case you missed it, the word of the day was “sh-t”. When she was interviewed in Elle, the word of the day was “f-ck”. I know she’s super-cool and somewhat intelligent (I go back and forth on that), but she really needs to change up her vocabulary. I cuss like a sailor too, but every other word out of my mouth isn’t “sh-t” and “f–k”. Also: did anyone else not really see Kristen’s delineation from “delinquent slimy idiot” and “a weirdo, creative Valley Girl who smokes pot”? Plus, I just don’t think anyone should refer to themselves as “a weirdo, creative Valley Girl who smokes pot.” That’s like Rooney Mara calling herself “aloof”.
Here’s the Vanity Fair behind-the-scenes video for the K-Stew-stans.

For someone who claims to not give a crap, she sure seems to know exactly what everyone is saying about her. She has a dour and miserable persona and is a horrific actor at worst and average at best. She should work on that before calling out other people.
This.
For someone who doesn’t give a fuck, how come she Googles herself so often (or at least often enough to know what’s usually going to come up first)
Agree. If she really didn’t give a s*it, she wouldn’t always talk about how she’s misunderstood and wouldn’t get her feelings hurt by what she finds when she googles herself. But KS wants it both ways. She wants to be “cool”, swear inappropriately, and give the finger to whoever and she wants to complain about the people who criticize such actions. KS wants to do what she wants without having to answer for childish actions and comments. She really is very stunted.
It couldn’t have been said better. I completely agree.
Exactly! She cares. She cares a lot.
Yes! If she truly didn’t care…she wouldn’t care! Instead that seems to be all she talks about. I’m sure that’s all she asked about, but it’s time for her to change the conversation.
Word. Typical teenage emo stuff.
I agree. I think she is a beautiful girl, but she tries so hard to be the “cool girl who doesn’t give a crap”. It comes off as an act and not something that is real.
I don’t think Twilight is a horrible movie or that the books are horrid to read, but she was horrible in these movies. She always looked so miserable, kind of like how she acts in real life.
I get that she is young. I said a lot of stupid things too, but it gets rather tiring hearing her act so above it all. She is trying so hard to act like she doesn’t care.
She cares, and she wants people to think she is so cool. It comes off as fake.
proving that women can be very good douchebags too!
Agreed. This reminded me of Rooney Mara’s aloof comment – anyone who is constantly trying to get across that they don’t care is overcompensating.
Edit: Sorry, didn’t see the Mara reference at the end!
x1000. You Said it brilliantly.
Lainey said critics were being threatened into losing their jobs if they do not give her good reviews. It explains many things.
A measure of class and maturity would have prevented her from blabbing about being a pot smoker. That may come back and bite her on her bored little ass.
Personally, I believe in practicing discretion when breaking the law.
“For someone who claims to not give a crap, she sure seems to know exactly what everyone is saying about her.” I get the feeling she reads celebitchy. (I agree with the rest of your comment, as well).
I love K-stew. I think she is one of the most genuine younger actress. Some people think she is not grateful for her opportunities, but maybe she just sees things differently.
She’s very pretty too.
Most genuine younger actresses? Oh yes, she’s totally on par with Carey Mulligan, Mia Wasikowska, Elizabeth Olsen, Saoirse Ronan…
And the Fanning sisters…
But I do think she is unbelievably gorgeous though
How is Kristen not genuine. And how are those girls more genuine than her? They are different that’s all.
And Evan Rachel Wood and Ellen Page, etc. This bitch is at the bottom of the barrel. Only above Lindsay Lohan.
she’s on the short list with a lot of these actresses for the same roles. She’s on the list in part cause she’s so famous, and I think Mia and Carey in particular are her superiors in acting. I think she’s more on par with Emma Watson, who shows some weaknesses too with her acting. But that doesn’t stop the fact she’s still short listed for a lot of the plum roles offered for her age group.
THANK YOU for interrupting the hate-fest that has been simmering above.
I, too, like KStew. A LOT. I think she’s such a refreshing breath of air compared to most of these idiot celebutards who routinely get press. I also love that she’s a budding fashionista who is just beginning to flex her muscle.
I ADORE Celebitchy, and I revel in the fact that I can get on here and do a drive by with a pissy comment or snarky opinion. However, a few of the folks who posted earlier were a real turn off in their vitriol.
Maybe they need to, well…go smoke some pot.
Genevieve- Hatefest? Seriously?
Drive-by posting on the Celebitchy you ADORE, is not what keeps a blog running, is it?
It’s the regular commenters who keep conversations going and interact with each other that make a successful blog (and the writing and moderating of course). You ‘drive by’ just to criticise others and stan, that’s cool I suppose.
I love her eye make-up on the cover.
I just see her as a sour not so great actress who thinks she deserves more. The girl NEVER seems happy no matter what she is doing. It is a good thing she doesn’t give a s**t what people think because most think she is a b***h who doesn’t dress well.
I’m raising my hand.
I’m raising both hands and a foot. Lighten up dear, the world won’t end when you have a laugh about something.
…or will it?
Sorry, feeling world-endy and in a bit of a horror movie mood. Waiting to see Prometheus and le Fassdong.
But who says she isn’t happy? She doesn’t say she’s unhappy. In fact she says she’s content with her life. She is asked questions in an interview and she answers. And when most of the questions are “how do you deal with fame”, she is going to answer honestly. The girl has been smiling and happy all throughout this press tour. I don’t get why people perceive her to be unhappy. She has no reason to be.
Her actions speak volumes. Why do you think people constanly say this about her.
@bobo, but it seems to be people who DON’T know her that always make that assertion. People who have worked with her don’t say she’s dour and ungrateful. In fact, it seems just the opposite. As I’ve said before, she’s a harmless kid.
She has no reason to slouch around wearing a constant bitch-face either, but she does. It’s just part of her.
The last photo of her is nice, that is all..
Nice..for a mouth breather ._.
ha ha, well I tried to say something nice..
Same dull blank expression, just like in all of her photos. The girl is a one trick pony. She is a pretty woman, but her cursing makes her very unattractive.
Eeek, harsh much. I think her VF shoot looks amazing, and her interview was perfectly fine. At least she’s honest and what you see is what you get with her. No sugar coating her personality and being “on” during interviews. I like that. And who cares if she drops a few swear words. Don’t we all?!
There is something wrong when people keep calling themselves honest and real, and pointing it out at every opportunity.
In her case, honest and real = no social skills. She needs to stop doing interviews.
@Mary Simon: totally agree. She’s very pretty but somehow I find her incredibly off-putting. She always has this bitch=face and generally has this really miserable vibe around her
@cookie: “who cares if she drops a few swear words, dont we all”
YA, not ALL of us drop swear words when talking to people. I dont, 99% of my friends dont. I would be able to take her more seriously if she cut out all that sailor language and acted more like a lady. on top of that, she should learn how to shower more often too.
i personally don’t find her attractive. she has boyish looks. however, her i don’t give a shit what you think about me attitude is pretty cool.
‘stewart has developed into a wry and at-ease adult’
interesting…all i ever see is a stunted 15 year old.
I like her cursing. I know at her age I was not concerned with my ‘filter’. I would rather read her cussing and what not, than read those well rehearsed bs articles most celebrities give…
Also, we seem to praise types like Fassbender for being pretty opinionated and personable in his interviews. He seems to have no filter at all and sure he might be perceived as charming but he did bitch out a waiter in the GQ article (I believe it was GQ I could be wrong) and no one thought much of it.
I’ll take fu*k and sh*t over nitpicking at a restaurant lol
Look at it this way… these interviews are a part of the job she picked. Her career. I know if I go to MY job and drop f-bombs, and other unprofessional words I’ll get crap for it- as I should. Why should she not have to act like a civilized adult? Why should she get to act like a trashy teenager? I know that I can have a bit of a potty mouth at times, but not in professional settings. Not for something as public as an interview.
Nitpicking at a restaurant can be obnoxious too, though not as crass. It’s in public, but I’m sure it wasn’t MEANT for a public audience such as a magazine interview.
Fassbender at least has some life to him. KStew acts so sullen and lifeless all the time… he comes off as a more charismatic individual, and people like that.
Finally, someone agrees with me that you shouldn’t act like that in public. It’s fine if you want to act like that in your personal life, but to curse like that in…every…single…interview is just very unprofessional. Yeah, I get that she is trying to be cool and edgy, but there are other ways to get your point across.
That’s just it. If you’re cool and edgy, it will come across without you even trying. You wouldn’t have to be so obvious about it. You wouldn’t even care. But she does, so much.
In my opinion likening swearing to being unprofessional is just the same as saying it’s unlady-like. What is lady like in this day in age and what really is professionalism given the range of different expectations in every profession?
I don’t buy that cussing reflects on either frankly.
However, singling a guy out who is only doing is job, in the case of the waiter, is much worse when given the fact that there was a much bigger microscope focused on him. I mean Fassbender didn’t give the guy an option to be excluded, he just threw him into the mix and thoughtlessly had the waiter’s gaffe put into print. Forever.
Small beans, sure, on the surface but so is swearing. Swearing is a personal thing or a quirk if you will. Being a nitpicking b*tch in front of an interviewer, and shining a light that big on something so small…a lot more telling and lame.
So, it’s totally ok with you to show up at your favorite restaurant and have the server ask “What the fvck do you want?”
Or go to the auto repair shop and have them ask “Can I fvcking help you?”
Yes, of course, it’s a matter of professionalism. The guy at Burger King abides by it, the garbage man abides by it, anyone with a job in today’s society abides by it, particularly when your job involves dealing with the public. Are YOU a working woman? Would you be allowed to get away with it?
This is Kristen Stewart’s JOB, and quite a fortunate one at that. Like it or not, she is selling herself in these interviews. She needs to act like a responsible fvcking adult like the rest of us hardworking Americans, and put a filter on it when she’s working.
Her cursing like this shows a lack of respect for not only the interviewer, but also the American public, as a whole. She’s a beautiful girl, but that nasty mouth needs to go.
Neither behavior is worth this much dissection. She cursed like a sailor, he said he hated hovering waiters…big effin deal to both.
I don’t know who Michael Fassbender is, and it doesn’t matter anyway, since he has not one thing to do with this subject matter. Bringing him into it doesn’t win any arguments. It’s a deflection tactic. Jaye- your comment is irrelevant, as the whole point of these sorts of websites is to scrutinize and do just this. The name Celebitchy should be pretty self explanatory.
It reminds me of the scene in Shame where Brandon gets irked at a waiter’s overfussiness. It’s a weird peeve that both McQueen and his actor have talked about, making parallels with that scene and in everyday life. Reel life catching up with real life?
I didn’t read into it as much as you did — but then again it depends how we all differently interpret interviews.
It’s always the same over and over again. Open mouth, dead eyes and stiff, bizarre poses.
She isn’t a model though. She’s taking direction and they pick the pictures that look best. Most models pose like this. Not sure what the big deal is.
When you work with one of these big name photographers, you do what they say. If they ask you to look serious, distant, whatever – you don’t stand there and grin like Miss America.
And sometimes that is just the best even the “big name” photographer can get out of his subject.
I think that Kaiser is right. She does looks better with extreme make up. I think it has something to do with her skin color and her face that doesn’t really has a strong feature so it’s easily transform to look different with bolder make up. This is a praise so twi hard, don’t start throwing the stone at me. 😉
The reason why she looks better with extreme make-up is because it helps distract from her rather expersionless face. It gives the viewer something striking and interesting to look at since she has no presence. Less make-up reveals more of her dead eyes and slack-jawed appearence.
+1
Yes, it makes perfect sense. Seconded.
@Jinni : Still, if she could learn using that face to her advantage in the future, she would be easily morphed for every character she played later on. Example like Jessica Chastain.
Often times, it’s very hard for the audience to believe in the character that an actress played because they can only see the actress NOT the character. (I believe it happens with Jolie since she has a very strong facial features and the media exposed her private life too much so a lot of people who criticize her acting as not believable, are actually being influenced by the perception that they got from the media before even watching the movie and having a hard time to be objective in her acting).
Stewart still young, so hopefully she could learn more about acting and maybe she wouldn’t be the best actress out there but at least she could be a better actress in the future.
Some people born with the talent, but some people need to learn by experience first. She seems to be the last one.
“That’s like Rooney Mara calling herself aloof.”
I literally laughed out loud.
Is she incapable of breathing through her nose? I feel like her mouth is open in EVERY picture I see of her.
I don’t really get the hate for her. She comes off as awkward rather than bitchy. Giselle gets far more love and she’s waaayyyy more offensive than Kristin.
I totes agree, i think she’s great, and the photo shoot looked magical. She’s been in the biz for a long time, i think she knows what she’s doing. Plus, she keeps her limelight to the minimum, so most of the people criticising her are just projecting their own self hate on her. Personally, i can’t find anything to hate on her, i reserve that right for other fame ho’s who are even more famous(notorious) but with a thimble full of her talent.
Agreed. I used to hate her and find her annoying–now I just think she’s awkward, and potentially someone I’d go to my dive bar with.
I’ve come around on her, and like how she avoids getting her actual personal life into the tabloids. Plus her legs are ridiculous, so that’s hard to hate.
Me too. And considering how successful her career is we’re not the only ones. And she’s very young with a constant spotlight, asked for her opinion on everything.
She’s not THAT young. She’s not a child anymore. She’s an adult. God, I hate when people pull the “she’s so young” card. She’s like a month older than I am. She’s old enough to have graduated with a bachelor degree this year, old enough to be applying for grad schools.
She is 22, an adult, and she has been in the business a long time, long enough to see how other adults in that business act. She once stated that she looked up to Jodie Foster. She should take lessons from Jodie, who has always been the consumate professional and doesn’t seek the limelight by doing photoshoots and interviews. I really feel the way that Kristen acts, defensive and stating too often that she doesn’t give a $h!t, is just a front for low self esteem or immaturity.
@Erinn, To some of us “old heads” she’s still a kid. Hell, YOU’RE still a kid…in my eyes. It depends on your frame of reference.
She has an incredibly beautiful face!
Having said that, she’s not dumb and I think she has an idea of what life is all about, but she’s young and inexperienced and came of pretty arrogant in recent interviews. She should work on that.
And I disagree with her boyfriend, if she’d be more comfortable on red carpets or interviews people would receive her differently. She presents herself very badly.
“Incredibly beautiful face”? Hardly.
If you saw her walking down the street without makeup you wouldn’t look at her twice. You can see a hundred girls who are ten times prettier than she is any day in the mall.
She looks beautiful here but all of the profanity is just a huge turn off for me. Is that why in tv interviews she seems so inarticulate? Because she can’t curse so she’s searching for other words to use?
I think it is hit or miss with her on camera interviews. If you watch the video posted above, she actually sounds articulate and comes across pretty well. I’ve seen ET and other interviews where she is very personable and joking around.
I think Kaiser might have said it in another post that it’s Stewart “live” TV interviews that seem most awkward. They are pretty painful to watch.
I’d agree, she seems to do fine in a taped one on one type interview. But something that’s live, in front of an audience, she seems to freeze up.
I think so too Kate. She’s searching for words to replace the eff and sheet. I’ve learned to like her over the past year. This interview she comes across as a complete idiot trying too hard to be cool. I don’t care what people say about me blah, blah, blah. I hate when people critic me about blah, blah, blah.
Everytime I see her in gorgeous clothing or in a photoshoot that could be amazing, I just feel that they are wasted on her. She brings nothing to them and she really makes me long for the days when only models got the covers and fashion spreads.
Also, she trying far too hard to convince everyone that she’s cool and above the hollywood bs. I wish people would just understand that if you truly are a certain way than people will just see that for themselves without you having to tell them.
“….people would just understand that if you truly are a certain way than people will just see that for themselves without you having to tell them.”
—> Like Tilda Swinton??? God!! She’s the coolest of them all!!!! XD
Like whoever said “If you have to say you’re a lady, you probably are not.”
People can discern for themselves.
If someone says they don’t give a sh-t and that they do their own thing, others be damned, but then goes on to mention that they google themselves, and want people to see them in a certain way, I will immediately think they’re full of sh-t. I’d be well in my right to do so, too.
But everyone interviewer asked her about being anti-hollywood. It’s not like Kristen makes a point of saying this stuff out of nowhere. She’s constantly told she is a “rebel” which is stupid. She even disagrees. But every celebrity has a public persona and hers is “rebel unsmiley hollywood chick”.
Yes, I agree. Every person who interviews her asks her about the paps and her anti-Hollywood attitude. She’s only answering their repetitive and boring questions. Can you imagine how boring it is for her to be asked the same qestion a zillion times? During the Snow White interviews, every person asked her about accidently punching Chris Hemsworth on set. It was driving me crazy. I think every creature on this planet has heard her punching Chris Hemsworth story! I do admire her for trying to not answer the same boring questions word for word in each interview. That I will give her credit for. I love when she goes off and starts rambling in interviews. Robert does that too. Sometimes when they are finished speaking, the answer has nothing to do with the original question asked! I love when that happens.
That last picture is stunning.
She is dreadfully boring.
Yes, she is very intelligent…
An intelligent person doesn’t have to resort to saying a cuss word in every sentence. They are smart enough to think of other words to use to express themselves. Kristen actually makes herself look dumb in most of these interviews.
They make her up, comb her hair, put some pooch on her lap and take some pictures…then she opens her mouth and her true self spews forward.
God if any one of my 3 sons’ brought home some “cool” chick like her I’d have him taken and deprogramed quickly! She is toxic on many levels. Nothing beautiful about a spoiled, self centered, obnoxious person. Being 22 yo is no excuse what-so-ever. She is who she is…a big bitch.
Yet anyone who meets and works with her will say otherwise. This girl is far from being a bitch.
Lara – Celebs don’t usually say negative things about other celebs they’ve worked with and likely may work with again. Some of them have the same PR reps and managers, even.
Dominic Monaghan’s recent tweets about Michael Fox is the exception.
having said that, KS seems to have a good work ethic, at least.
Nice photos, but the more someone talks about how they don’t care what people think, well you know they really really care.
That was a pretty biog slice of the interview, i imagine, but all i got from it was that she’s hung up on criticisms. Was there nothing else to talk about? Was that the best they could get out of her? I know this is not a ‘special’ actress, but i still expected more.
her & lea Michelle always have that bitch face look lol
The swearing is really grating but I think that she’s just very young and rather unpolished. The fact that she tried escargot is pretty commendable though. I love adventurous eaters.
I also wore my brother’s hand-me-downs as a kid and was a rebellious, foul-mouthed teen so I guess I feel like I understand her to a point…*shrugs*
Kitten…my potty mouth can get ahead of me at times as well but she is not a teen, she is 22 and she is being interviewed for millions of readers to offer “insight” about her (tongue in cheek). Now when my gang can sit and have a family meal and all 5 of us are at the table it could sound like a truck stop…or worst (48, 48, 24, 21, 17 ages) but our everyday conversations don’t rely on using sh*t and f*ck as adjectives in every sentence…it just comes off as soooo, well trashy.
I too have tried Escargot…my stepda used to make it homemade…smelled great whilst cooking…could only get it into the trap one time! lol
Crud. She’s 22? I thought she was like 18! My bad.
I guess the difference is when we chose to swear right? I swear more when I’m talking about politics or an issue I’m passionate about. Would I be dropping s-bombs and f-bombs when I’m talking about innocuous, everyday things? Well no. Plus curse words lose their effectiveness when used so often. Maybe she swears because she’s nervous? I dunno…
LOL@ the “Cat” family sitting around the dinner table and dropping f-bombs! 🙂 You have 3 boys right?
Yes 3 boys…one is done college gainfully employed and out of the house, one is in college so therefore I never see him just pay his bills, and one is going into his Sr year in HS. So although our family gatherings are few and far between, the love (and by that I mean sarcasm and cursing) at meals are quite entertaining! LOL
That’s awesome, Chatcat. I love a gregarious family unit! 🙂
She wants to have her cake and eat too.
As someone else already mentioned, it’s become boring to hear this girl reiterate the same things over and over again, the same complaints, the same peeves. Is this the sum of her existence? “Mean people willfully misunderstanding her and her quest for being always honest” while at the same time checking out if people see and appreciate how genuine she is?
Then ask interviewes to stop asking her the same questions. Seriously, why do you expect different answers? They never ask her anything interesting. With that said this is just a preview of the article and of course they went with the most attention seeking bits.
And Kristen never said she sits there googling herself all the time. She has a team. They probably keep her informed about stuff like this.
I understand you point about being asked the same questions over and over. But it was my understanding that starts or their publicists get to approve what will be asked and what will not.
But even if that’s not true, why doesn’t she just give a polite, curt answer to the question and move on? She’s the one who dwells on these things with all the contrived, puzzling, annoying things she says on the subject.
Anyone who wouldn’t wanna talk about it would just say “I’ve grown accustomed to that aspect of my life” or “I understand it comes with the territory.” and leave at that.
Not wax poetically about googling herself or the worries she has when she leaves a room. She wants everyone to think well of her? Tough luck, it’s not possible. But most people seem to know this and not suffer at the injustice of being perceived as something different than what they are.
The thing is, she needs to learn self control and to have a bitchy publicist…It’s the journalists who ask about the haters, and someone with common sense would have a pr person who tell them those questions won’t be answered or the celeb themselves needs to clam up. She’s answering the question, but it will come off as complaining. Stupid move IMO. Read an interview with Blake Lively…it’s always boring, talks about her childhood, her projects, and cooking. That is what she needs to stick with…talk about her animals, her projects, her childhood….
The interviewer moderates and controls the shoot.. asks the star questions.. they also solicit the answer they want to hear, so a bit of naughty and seemingly private of her life is exposed.. and the star approves when ..choosing the answers after consulting her agents and personal publicist, image makers.. this probably isn’t what Kristen would care to chat about to strangers.. but she understands how image and publicity at this time of her career works for her movie character.. After they agree to terms.. just sign the contract; appear for duty.. their makeup, designer clothing cleared as okay, moved to spot they choose.. pose.. take the money.. good bye.
Very interesting information, regarding that not all of us are aware how things work in the industry.
Thank you for sharing
She looks really good on that cover.
“People have decided how they are going to perceive her,” Robert Pattinson tells V.F. of Stewart. “No matter how many times she smiles, they’ll put in the one picture where she’s not smiling.”
He has a point. I think this is generally true.
It very well may be, but that is generally a small point in the overall criticism. Let’s put it this way: what does she get criticised more for, the surly presence or the idiotic interviews? Pattinson pulls some incredible goofy looking faces at events but his interviews endear him to the public (though now not so much).
Not so much now for RP because some of Kristen’s surly attitude has rubbed off on him. He used to be sweet and funny in his interviews.
TXCinderella, I don’t know if she’s to blame or the whole Cronenberg thing went to his head. His little tidbit about what we all thought he was doing in Twilight if not acting absolutely killed me. I was in stitches over it.
I think his “acting in Twilight” comment came after 4 years of getting mocked and slammed for being the sparkly vampire. I am surprised he didn’t explode with frustration long before that. I don’t hold that one against him.
@ the person who hides behind “To almond”
Nope, you are completely wrong about interpreting his quote. Here, please read it again. (Plus Patz is sooo boring in all these European interviews about Cosmopolis…)
“I’ve been doing movies for eight years and I’ve been criticized often and all of a sudden, this teaser is released and everyone is excited,” Pattinson laughs. “‘It looks great! His acting is good in it!’ It’s ridiculous! I’d like to ask a question to those people who think I just started acting well: What do you think I was doing in Twilight? Do they think it’s how I act naturally? No, I had to make decisions as an actor. I find it funny when I read stuff like, ‘Will Cosmopolis finally prove that he can act?’ What does that even mean?”
Hiding -really? How is one moniker any less anonymous than another? I very rarely post on these boards, so not sure what your point is.
And second, I know the quote well, and my opinion stands. He is fighting back a bit which he hasn’t done before. And I don’t find his current interviews boring, I just think he grew up a little.
Meh, I really don’t see what is so bothersome about that Pattinson quote, particularly in the context of people calling you Sparkles and saying your a shit for a long time. That’s got to bother.
And I don’t get this shift in pereception from some here about his interviews (which I tend love more than his acting). I’ve watched a lot of the Cosmopolis interviews and he is as goofy and charming as ever.
@ the person with multiple monikers and @ mia girl
I agree to disagree whether his interviews have become boring or not.
This quote though deals with his quality of acting, which was (mostly) atrocious in Twilight (for whatever reasons.) He used to agree that his acting was not good by far.
As opposed to Patz, Heath Ledger was in embarrassing movies but he never embarrassed himself. Rob has embarrassed himself in Twilight, being a smart person he knows it, that’s not the end of the world, move on. What is he fighting now and why?
P.S. I did not use “hiding” in a negative connotation.
To the person who put “to” in front of another person’s moniker as their own, it’s very annoying that’s why people comment on it. Why not choose a moniker and reuse it?
Have you not read the fine print on this site?
“If you make racist or bigoted remarks, comment under multiple names, or wish death on anyone you will be banned.”
Yeah, and do insist that his earlier interviews were much more interesting, in particular I’m referring to such interviews as the one in “Details”, the one with Anne Thompson, etc. I kept thinking about some of his comments in that interviews for days, plus his interpretation of the 2nd twilight movie made me interested in it…
I realized later that it’s much more interesting to listen for his interpretations than to watch him acting upon them. BTW, he admitted it too – that he comes up with very interesting theories and ends up with pout 27.
Anyway, these days he basically gives no interpretations of Cosmopolis, just says that he does not understand the movie, that an actor is not supposed to be intelligent and sh-t like that. There are no original thoughts, no interesting or controversial quotes.
well, of course it’s going to be situational though. With twilight he’s the figurehead, and he was trying to find something interesting to work with in the midst of emo-teen silliness. Cosmopolis isn’t his thing though-it’s Cronenberg’s. it’s Don Delilo’s. He’s just a sparkley vampire next to them. He’s just along for the ride, and he’s showing a frankly smart deference to that fact by not offering up too much.
@ lolab
Well, for an entertainer I see it as a lame approach for an interview. If you have nothing to say on your own, start referring to smart people next to you. Tell me about a revelation after a conversation with Da Villo, tell me why you did not watch interviews with real people in finance and instead focused on mass murderers, tell me why your regular process with finding Eric’ background never worked (I need to have some reference to the beginnings of Eric.) I can come up with 50 more questions which could be covered in the interview and could make it interesting or at least informational.
KS has only herself to blame for the current negative perceptions about her. She made a bad first impression and she and her team did nothing to really change that. I’m beginning to think the crudeness is intentionally used as a calling card for Stewart to keep her in the news.
I think she doesn’t care if people actually like her, but she does care if they think things about her that aren’t true. She wants to be perceived for who she is, and doesn’t like the inaccurate perceptions.
And tell me one actor/actress who doesn’t stay on top of what is said about them on the blogs. etc. They would be idiots not to know! It is part of managing a career these days.
I don’t like everything she does/says, but I don’t understand the crazy hate for this girl. I find her interesting.
Thank you! Someone gets it. She cares about being misrepresented. She has said this before.
You articulated it better than she did. She’s got some good fans.
I don’t blame her for being annoyed with misrepresentatation, but she does sound like she could use a break. Being aware of what’s being said and going through it in detail are two different things. She should leave the latter to her representatives. That’s what they’re paid for.
Yeah yeah, KStew, we get it. You’re the cool, counter-culture chick who doesn’t give a f-ck. Girlfriend please, sit DOWN. Stop Googling yourself and take an acting class.
^^This!
+10 best comment
lol just realized i wrote basically the same comment as you right underneath. she tries too hard to look like she doesn’t try too hard
+ 10 also
I nominate this for comment of the week.
I saw an interview once where she admitted she cares too much sometimes, and that she reads what’s been said about her. So at least she mans up and admits it, most stars say they don’t look. She also said she was self conscious about her smile for a long time too and didn’t like open mouth smiling cause people kept making fun of her tits and teeth. lol I thought that was pretty funny.
Is that a typo or were they really making fun of her tits? I can’t actually picture that. I know people said mean things about her teeth when she was announced as Bella but physical flaws aren’t her fault. Her tits? Really?
she has tits?
Perez Hilton commented A LOT about her having no tits and being flat as a board and having ugly teeth. There was some men’s site who did a whole article about how flat she was with photos used. I think she has a persecution complex that is partly her fault cause she read what people were saying about her online and she shouldn’t have done that and taken it so personally. But there was A LOT of body dissection going on online about her when she was still like 18, and that’s not cool either.
sup-Well, she did show she had some at Cannes the other week, and they looked pretty good to me in that red dress. They were practically slapping her chin, they were so perky.
@lolab well then those push-up dresses must really work wonders. miracles, even.
it wasn’t a push up dress, it was a plunging neckline with her side boob left exposed for all to see. The only thing working wonders was some nip tape and youthful boobs being youthful. Great tits don’t have to be big, they can be small and chin slappingly awesome.
@ lolab
Exactly, those tits are nice and perky. They give me boob envy.
@lolab i wouldn’t know. i’m no boob expert
original almond, some guy blogger just posted these pictures and said her biggest crime beyond being a c8nt was she has small boobs. so I think she does get that a lot.
http://www.idontlikeyouinthatway.com/2012/06/no.html
I’m sorry to hear that. I always try to stay away from commenting on a celeb’s physique and if I do I try to keep it simple and restrained.
In her case it’s even nastier to see it because girls often get insecurities when it comes to “bosom size”. I think her tits are great and would exchange my C cup for her A-B cup in a heartbeat.
i wouldn’t worry about that scum from idlyitw wrote. he’s the biggest troll there is.
oh god she’s obsessed with her image. yes hun we get it you don’t care about being a star you’re different you’re a creative artist type. happy now?
err…the blame goes both ways with the Kstew dilemma and her constant self assessment.
Yes, she sounds neurotic a lot of the times. But she’s what, 21, and people have been asking about her existential state every time she is interview since she was 18. If she didn’t think about how to answer it, she’d get slammed too, there’s no way to win with such self indulgent inquiries.
And I think it’s very clear that this chick has been reading what’s been said about her from the beginning and it’s turned her into a neurotic mess in some ways. Curiousity killed the cat and all that.
She does take really good pictures though; her “acting” skills aside.
I just wish she didn’t feel as though she has to use disgusting language to get her point across.
I really do not see the “pretty” or “gorgeous” everyone says they see in her face, I think she has a horrible face with a massive bone structure in her jaw. All I see is a smaller Rumer Willis face.
I see a plain girl who constantly has Vomit Face. Like she might puke at any second, all the time.
She sounds narcissistic and obsessed with how people view her.
The shot they used for the cover is my least favorite (the dog thing is stupid, and the way they have her sitting looks uncomfortable and unnatural). But all the other shots–damn! She looks gorgeous.
“…but you can’t say that in Vanity Fair.” OMG, but you totally did, Kristen! Edgy! Either she constantly googles herself or her publicist told her some things to complain about prior to the interview so that she can ‘prove’ she’s above it, either way she is not being genuine when she says she doesn’t care what people think. It seems to be the only thing she cares about. If she has to take every opportunity to define herself to the public, I think the public already has the right perception of her. It’s her that needs to find herself.
As much as I like her, I wish she would tone down the cursing in her interviews. I feel there is a time and a place for a potty mouth. Most of us curse but we know when not to use certain words in certain situations. For example, I never curse at work or in front of my child. I’ve seen her do entire interviews where she doesn’t curse at all. So that proves she can control it and I wish she would. I have also seen Kristen use a curse word, then quickly cover her mouth and apologize for it. That proves to me that she does have self awareness and gives me hope that one day she’ll either stop altogether or curse less often in interviews.
I do like these pictures of Kristen. I think she looks very pretty. I usually prefer her with alot less makeup but I like what they did here. I don’t care for heavy black eye makeup on her or anyone else. I think the makeup person got it right this time. Those gowns look gorgeous on her. It’s a very grown up look for her and I think she pulls it off beautifully.
I agree!..Nothing as classless and tasteless as a woman who swears. I am not prude by any means, but it says alot about who you are by the words you choose. No grace whatsoever. Maybe when she grows up she’ll look back and realize how a gutter mouth just isn’t attractive!
Is it tasteless and classless for a man to swear, too?
Of course it would be. Stop deflecting. This has nothing to do with gender.
No they love it, just look at the Daniel Craig threads when he’s swearing up a storm without making ANY sense. They love the surly bad boy image, it makes him sexy for some. Not for me though but there is a difference in how we treat men who cuss and women who cuss.
Ugh. Just UGH.
why are people who smoke pot always so proud of that?
Honestly, I don’t see an issue with the last quotes…just the first one…the cursing isn’t as bad here either, and I buy it’s because she’s actually upset versus trying to look cool (Elle). That said, she’s naive as fuck. Journalists spend a day with their subject and they often are not out to make the person look good…I am thinking specifically of one magazine that started off critiquing Penelope Cruz’s look
and then implied she slept around…and she was the covergirl! They try to be provocative…I know other celebs have been described as wary, and that’s why. She needs to learn how to hold it the fuck together, because they will take the most shocking thing she said…even if it was a two minute rant, and run with it as their cover story…Basically, she needs to learn self control. Lastly, she needs to stop googling herself…it will drive her crazy. At the end of the day, she’s worth over a hundred million dollars, has the NY Times film critics approval along with Ebert and a few others, and a long term boyfriend who appears to really love her. Essentially, she needs to learn how to stop caring what some blog says, an insulting Internet comment that originates from some bumfuck town, and get some help with her obvious social anxiety disorder.
@ Lila – 2 points:
1) Are you referring to a NY Times review of Snow White? It’s very carefully worded so as not to alienate twi-hards but it does not contain a single word of praise for the creative wierdo.
“Ms. Stewart, stumbling through the forest and racing through an awkward, Shakespeare-lite speech to her hastily mustered good-guy army, understands the job perfectly and undertakes it in good faith.”
Plus there is another quote about her dividing the audience into Team Handsome Prince and Team Huntsman.
Not a single word about her quality of acting, etc…
2) Her acting career does depend upon public perception, which is expressed, in part, through blog posts and comments.
A.O. Scott and Dargis have said very nice things about her acting in the past, far more than the Snow White review. I know they raved about her in The Runaways and the stripper film. She does have critics that stick up for her, from Ebert to THR. The Daily Beast OpEd pointed that out in their defense of Kristen Stewart piece. Quite frankly, I just read the Snow White review as that he thought the script was shit and the actors got the job done. And for every Celebitchy or DListed, there is a Eonline, Lainey, or Celebuzz that writes a nice article. In the long run, the truth is that it’s a small segment of the population that reads these blogs, and even less read Lainey, Dlisted, and Celebitchy. Gawker, which is one of the most popular blogs
out there, has an audience of a million at most and most articless get page hits that are not more than forty thousand. So unless she’s getting trashed on E!, which is probably the most visited entertainment website, she’s fine. Most people, IMO, just see a slightly annoying girl who does not sleep around and who
does not stumble out of clubs every night and who does not dress slutty. Most people, IMO, just don’t care about
celebs past the point of “oh, that’s the chick who got
a DUI” or “he’s handsome” and just want to see what film
someone is in….Look at Charlize, for example….People love
her on the blogs, but she isn’t considered an opener in that even her more mainstrem films are rarely hits.
Well, I only recently started following entertainment industry, so I don’t know all trends, and haven’t yet got a chance to read a lot of research. However, it appears that public perception, expressed at small blogs does not differ dramatically from responses to the articles in major newspapers (such as Guardian, etc.) So, I would not necessarily qualify this segment as outliers. Plus I noticed that, surprisingly, people know much more about celeb culture these days – and it looks like a global trend for me.
Honestly, I’m so bored with Stew that I can’t even argue about her. I’m very disappointed with her as an “It” girl. I believe that she will end-up becoming a good director or producer but it’s painful to follow a celeb with a dark-hole instead of charisma.
@Disagree with most of you:
“I think she doesn’t care if people actually like her, but she does care if they think things about her that aren’t true. She wants to be perceived for who she is, and doesn’t like the inaccurate perceptions.”
Completely agree with this.
lol you people are pathetic, is is exactly what she is talking about, she gets hate no matter what, she doesn’t give a s*it about what anybody thinks. She gives an honest, real inerview, and still gets hate for it, she is answering the questions.
Not a fan of the girl, but she is harmless, she gets hate for everything, people have a percepetion of her that is not real at all, if she was such a bitch she wouldn’t have been in the bussiness for this long, everyone that meets her says greats things about her, get over your jealousy and bitterness towards a young actress that has done nothing bad to anyone.
People say they don’t care about her, but the comments here say otherwise,if you didn’t care then why does she bother some of you so much, get a freaky hobby.
Are you sure you’re “not a fan of the girl”?
You come on here and call people pathetic. You refer to all those people who say how great she is when they meet her and you close it off with advise to “get over your jealousy and bitterness”.
I call bullshit. Own it. You’re a fangirl and there is nothing wrong with that.
I can’t stop laughing at Kristen Stewart with a Pomeranian on her lap. It’s beyond ridiculous. What were they thinking?
“I’m kind of a weirdo, creative Valley Girl who smokes pot.” … who sits around with a lap dog? I know it’s a photo shoot, but really, what is this mess?
I agree. The other photo is fab, and I an sure there are others…So why on earth that one for the cover? That said, I don’t think this is as bad as the ELLE story…The only quote which I find dumb is the first one, and even then it’s not horrid except for the cursing. So I’m not getting why people have their panties in a twist. That ELLE interview was terrible, with the eff this and eff that and my life’s perfect. Here, she’s simply answering a question about public perception. Whatever. I just don’t get why people think she’s a cunty bitch for being unsmiley and inarticulate. Finding her obnoxious, I can get…
They definitely needed a cooler dog. Or maybe a siamese cat.
I have no use for pocket dogs.
Oh gosh, I actually think Pomeranian fits. Stew wishes she is a weirdo, eccentric, bizzare, etc while in reality she comes across as so plain and monotonous – even in her curses – that I can’t even get inspired for a rant about her. Bottom line, let her sit with her Pomeranian and count her millions while hopefully someone talented and interesting will replace her in HW.
Nina – I like that you got my point.
Oh Orly – absolutely! I actually ended up re-writing response dozen of times. Initially I wrote that she is a walking wtf, but ended up thinking that it’s too much honor for her 😉
ha ha, well don’t I feel stupid-I didn’t even realize she was holding a dog. I saw the ‘meh’ picture and kept going..
Marie, you’re the best. Who the hell sits with a dog on the lap and hand on the hip? Everything about that picture is just…dumb.
once again Kristen proves her power over people, you guys say you don’t care, you don’t like her, she is ugly, bla bla bla, no other actress her age gets such a reaction from people, she hasn’t killed anybody, she is not a drunken mess, she is a girl from the valley, not your typical starlett, she is hated for being different, but she is also loved by many because of it
Be you Kstew, “I’d rather be hated for what I am than loved for what I’m not.”
Ellen Page is different and tomboyish, I don’t hate her.
I don’t hate the stew either, I just don’t like her. Get over it. As for caring, Kristen cares. HA.
I find her a spectacle that’s hard to look away from, you know.
“…Valley Girl who smokes pot.”
She’s a valley girl? This makes so much sense about why she bugs me. Valley kids have always had a chip on their shoulders about being from the joke of LA. Add to that that the only thing to DO in the Valley is smoke pot and complain. Now she’s starting to make sense.
For all the people who think she is a lesbian because of the way she dresses in her downtime ( which is actually a mind of homophobic outlook), I always laugh because she dresses like half of most Valley girls. Valley girls seem to dress like hipsters, mall girls, or girls with tight jeans/chucks/band Ts/plaid shirts/men’s shirts or unisex shirts from American Apparel. People generally don’t give a f-k about their hair or
makeup either…It’s a very different culture than the East Coast or the south.
Plleeaassee! I have zillions of friends from the Valley and they dont dress like her. She is just a bad dresser period.
I live in the valley, she looks like a typical college kids around these parts. She looks like a typical college kids period, in regulation jeans, shirt, and kicks.
She smokes pot? :O
For a girl who doesnt care she spends alot of time talking about how much she doesnt care.
To erinn and txcinderalla’s comments if you have to act it you’re not; this goes back some but Jimi Hendrix and Janis joplin were the essence of cool they didn’t act it (and yes they did evolve a persona but it wasn’t anywhere calculated like today); KS’s real problem is that she is devoid of substance hence all this trying out of personas Valley GIrl really, Uneducated, uniformed trapped in the celebrity fishtank she can’t develop an authentic personality; and VF needs to stop with these 20something celebutards – there are more interesting and accomplished people out there than this little child desperate to figure out how to be an adult.
Well that was embarrassing. I like her, think she’s good when cast in the right roles (i.e. not Snow White), but she’s so self-conscious in her un-self-consciousness.
I don’t expect her to say she never reads stuff or hears what’s been said about her, and I don’t blame her for being annoyed, but she’d probably be better off dropping the too-cool-for-school tough girl act and dealing with her feelings.
It sounds like she needs to get outside of her own head for awhile. Maybe that’s what she uses pot for, but there are better ways.
How can people think she’s pretty? I think shes so average lol she looks like a lot of the girls I went to school with. Except sh dosn’t have a perm haha
Well I do think she’s plainly pretty — not striking or beautiful, but certainly not unattractive. But she is the worst model! She makes the same face in nearly every shot I’ve ever seen of her.
AGREED @LOTR Dork! I find Kristen marginally attractive – definitely NOT beautiful or gorgeous IN THE LEAST.
I can walk down any street here in NYC and see 10 girls who are FAR MORE beautiful and gorgeous who aren’t models, than this tired and annoying twit.
She’s average – average looking, average talent, average body, above-average tw*t.
This.
I admire a lot of “average” or conventionally unattractive actors when they have talent, it makes them appealing. This girl has no redeeming qualities that I can discern.
I cringed watching her trying not to give a fuck at the MTV Movie Awards. She needs to calm down about how she is going to come off. Its like she rehearses what she’s going to say before she says it but then it comes out all awkward. I think she might still be in junior high maturity-wise.
I like this interview tbh. Most of her interviews are boring as hell but I didn’t mind this. She looks gorgeous and this may be the first magazine I’ve bought in years. Stunning.
I think the problem is her fans to be honest. They’re on every blog talking about how anti-hollywood she is, how different she is and how she doesn’t give a f*ck but the truth is she’s just like every other shitty actress out there and she gives more fucks than all her fans combined. Maybe her fans should stop making her out to be something that she’s not.
I mean really what is so different about her? She’s white and thin. That’s not much of a stretch when it comes to hollywood but her fans always go on about how real she is and how unique she is. Just let her be. I’ve never heard Kristen call herself different or anti-hollywood. It’s always her dumbass fans. They remind me of the Adele fans who act like Adele is so above caring about her image and the way she looks but months after her album release she lost a bunch of weight. (I’m one of these fans, I can admit that)
Also can we stop with the slut shaming on this site because it’s so fucking predictable.
Every Kristen post always have 4 or 5 people saying ‘oh well she doesn’t come out of clubs’ or ‘oh she doesn’t dress slutty’ or ‘she doesn’t sleep around’.
Are these supposed to be compliments ??? What’s wrong with clubbing ??? She’s 22, that’s what most girls her age are doing. Dressing slutty?? LOL, is this for real? Is she so much better than the Rihanna’s of the world because she wears jeans and hoodies?
Lastly, she’s not more ‘real’ than the Blake Lively’s and Taylor Swift’s of the world because she’s a brooding little shit. They’re all in the same business and they’re all playing the same game so save that bullshit for the birds. Bubbly and charismatic does not mean fake. Brooding does not mean ‘real’ That goes for men too. Look at all the ‘gay’ comments Taylor Lautner, Zac Efron(in his early career), Justin Bieber and The Jonas Brothers get because they’re firendly and smiley. Now look at how people salivate over Footface Pattinson and Ezra Miller because they’re brooding and aloof. It’s bullshit.
Kristen obviously reads what’s said about her. She has to know about all the mouthbreathing, lip-biting comments because she decided that instead of biting her lip, she’d keep her mouth open for the whole of SWATH instead. Girl…Close your mouth. It was so distracting.
I like Kristen but her stans need to evapourate off the earth because I’m betting that most people project their hate of her delusional stans onto her (at least, I know I do)
The interesting thing about Kristen Stewart is that yes, she has the crazy stans. But she also has these people who don’t like her but like to talk about her still. Either way, both are invested, and I guess that puts Kristen ahead in the end. I like her and the fact she is different, but I think she does dumb shit a lot behavior wise. I don’t find her particularly provocative though. What I find curious is how a seemingly semi-interesting young gal garners so much passion on both sides.
“What I find curious is how a seemingly semi-interesting your girl garners so much passion on both sides.”
That’s it! I’m (mildly) fascinated with fascination over Stew. Plus I’m interested to catch the beginning of the end for “It” girl. So far, the range of opinions remains the same.
Exactly. The fascination on both sides is totally baffling to me. I’ve defended her before from some of the people I found to be overly harsh, as in one person compared her to a cockroach and another called her a disgusting, horrible human being, and another blamed her for all of RPatz’s faults. To me, that is just as BATSHIT crazy as her stans. Her stans are totally insane too. I just don’t understand the over the top passion on both sides. She can be obnoxious, is fairly harmless, and is a decent actress (imo) with great bone structure. She’s not outrageous, and yet people act like she’s this crazy, fascinating person.
@atnina…People do fade and rise again. Look at Keira Knightely. She was all over the place four years ago, on a magazine every other month it seemed. Then she faded. Now, she’s back in the public and making good movies. Kristen will go away for five or so months, imo, and come back when Breaking Dawn 2 and On the Road are released this fall. So it should be a KStew free summer for the most part until October or so. Eventually, she will fade but I do think she will always have be in the business…making indies, etc.
Firstly, I’d really like to know what makes her so different because everyone says it but I never get any examples.
Secondly, everything you mentioned is not exclusive to Mouthbreather Stewart. It’s the internet so people will go into threads of people they don’t like and make comments. Look at any Jennifer Anniston thread. She has like 3 and half fans yet all her threads get over 100 comments. Same with Blake Lively. She’s harmless and basic yet she gets all this love and all this hate for doing absolutely nothing.
As a huge Beyonce fan, I can admit that most of the hate she gets is in relation to the extreme admiration from her fans. When dumbass fans (like me) say Bey is the next Michael Jackson, you best believe they will be some strong hate to counter that.
If Kristen fans insist on acting like she’s a special snowflake then the haters will be there to let you know that she’s part of the game like all the other starlets. If they insist on calling her the next Marlon Brando then you best believe that the haters will remind you that she’s a hack of a mouthbreather.
She is extremely polarizing but no more than most of the other basic, white actresses that have posts on here. I always find it interesting that the same people who bemoan the Kristen hate will gladly go into a post of someone THEY don’t like and bash them. The extreme bashing happens all over this site yet the butthurt always complain about Kristen. I’m yet to see someone complain about the Jennifer Anniston hate or the Beyonce hate. I’m the biggest beyonce fan but I don’t go into her posts because I realize that she’s fair game and hated here. I stick to her fansites for my news. I’d never go into those posts and tell people to leave her alone.
Co-sign, to an extent. People bring up the fact that she doesn’t have a Rihanna personality, go clubbing, and doesn’t bounce from dude to dude for a reason IMO and it doesn’t have to do with slut shaming (at least, I hope it doesn’t). As pointed out above, some people were saying “OMG, the public hates her and her career will fade because the public hates her” and “blogs hate her, so it will hurt her career.”
Thing is, that’s not really true in terms of her career and a bit delusional in thinking that Celebitchy or DListed or Hollywood Life can change a person’s career. A magazine like Vogue or VF is considered a good seller if it sells around 500 thousand to 800 thousand copies. Blogs have a much smaller audience than those magazines, and some of the major blogs like E! online love her. Celebitchy is small potatoes compared to E! or Popsugar even. There are over a billion people in America, and very little follow celebs that closely when you do the math. What the general public DOES do is judge celebs if they are seen hooking up with multiple guys or flashing their panties when getting out of a car or going to rehab or getting DUIs. It’s a small percentage of that general public that judges a celeb on making inarticulate comments. Kristen Stewart sells, whether people want to believe it or not…It doesn’t matter how good her publicist is, she wouldn’t be on the “big” magazine covers and covered in the news that much without a certain amount of important people liking her (a la Blake Lively) or the fact that enough people buy her magazines and flat out like her. People, IMO, like her because she isn’t photographed out stumbling drunk out of clubs and hooking up with multiple dudes. People, IMO, generally tend to slut shame on the whole and judge the partiers more harshly…hence, Kristen comes off relatively well when using those standards.
Honestly, I agree with everything you said. I may seem like I don’t like her but I do. I’m happy she’s selling and I’m not delusional enough to think that she’ll fade after Twilight. I mean if talentless men like Michael Cera can have careers playing one person in every mobie then K-Stew has the right too. I ain’t mad.
It’s the slut shaming that pisses me off(and it IS slut-shaming) and is so predicatble on this bloody site. Instead of her fans to defend her based on her skills they defend her by slut shaming other females in the business. There’s nothing wrong with clubbing, there’s nothing wrong with sex with multiple guys(as long as you’re safe) and there’s nothing slutty about dressing half naked if that’s what you want to do. If these are the standards by which we pick our stars then I’m not surprised that we have no fucking talent in this industry.
I always defend celebtichy but sometimes the comments on here are so cringeworthy. I mean look at all the flack Kristen gets. What about her boyfirend Footface Pattinson? He can’t act, he’s bashed twilight and he was a brooding little shit in the beginning yet people on this site find him endearing and charming??? Is that a joke? He’s just as bad but because we can all be misogynistic assholes (even me) he gets off easily. Noone ever says Robert Pattinson should be respected because he doesn’t sleep around and he isn’t an alcholic like Charlie Sheen. But somehow the only way to validate Kristen Stewart is by slut shaming other females in the business.
This site(and K-Stew fans) can be so predicatble.
@Crystal I agree. I like RPatz, I do, even though like you say about KStew it may not come through in what I write. It is ridiculously sexist though that he never gets called on his shit and she does all the time, simply because people find him “charming.” One can be charming, and still act like a little shit. I like him, but the interviews he gave before Cannes were just cringe worthy and awful. I really took umbrage at the remark about how he had “to take directions” when asked about how Twilight was criticized. Directors are the ones who give the directions, and he was clearly criticizing the directors. Plus the whole Twilight stunted my creativity bs, etc, and how twitter has ruined his life. It’s the same shit that Rooney Mara and Kristen Stewart spew, but he doesn’t flip the bird, he smiles, and he is male so people don’t give a shit. It’s the complete double standard. Again, it was very predictable that when covering him this site didn’t use any of those interviews and answers, although other blogs did, and instead chose the most flattering interviews. The difference between RPatz and KStew is simply self control. I don’t buy the happy go lucky persona, because as you pointed out he was pretty damn broody in the beginning. The difference is he has the self control to paste a fake smile on his face, and when he knows he fucked up (as in criticizing Twilight), he backtracks and gives a lot of quotes about grateful he was for Twilight. The ironic thing is, I truly think that KStew will continue to have a career (albeit, at much lower level) and while I like RPatz, I think he will fade.
Well said, Crystal. And the mention of Ezra Miller made me cringe. He’s just so…UGH.
Nina (the first) I talk about her occasionally on this blog only. Like I’ve said before, she has become a spectacle to me. Does that mean I’m invested? *Shrugs*
I’d hardly call an accumulation of maybe an hour or two every couple of weeks invested, but if that’s qualifying, then I’ll own it.
Good news is she should now go away for a while, since she has nothing coming for a few months. Or is OTR about to be released?
I read on Deadline that On the Road will definitely be released in the Fall in the United States, although it’s already out in Europe. IFC is releasing it, and they are considered to be pretty respected and art house (like they release Lars Von Trier, etc.). Apparently, the acting and cinematography is really good so they probably have an Oscar shot at Cinematography. KStew will go away until October, in my opinion. What I find interesting is that Cosmopolis just had a Canadian premiere and release, but that they haven’t announced a U.S. release date or even a general idea of when it may be released in the US. That’s usually not a good sign. This article kind of has me wondering on the future of the Twi trifecta. I think KStew will be Anna Paquin in ten years…An HBO show and roles in indies. Industry people seem to like her for the most part (at least what I’ve read on film blogs…even Vulture once said something along the lines that personally, she is liked by industry people)… I think Taylor Lautner will have no career, unless he gets lucky and gets supporting roles in an action film. I actually don’t think RPatz is going to make it, unless he does supporting roles or starts making more commercial films. Cronenberg is great, but Cosmopolis wasn’t received as well as I think Rpatz hoped it would, and his other roles just don’t seem to have a broad appeal. I get that he wants to do arthouse flicks, but those art house films, even if they make no money, have to be well received…and I just don’t see him playing a soldier being well received, especially when the woman who did the Hurt Locker is releasing a Bin Laden film in the near future also.
Oh, don’t get me wrong – I LOVE having a good laugh at her. It’s my favorite part of the day 😉 and if so — then count me invested. But she is very boring recently, although I remember fondly her window drape at the OTR premiere. Well done, Stew!
Speaking of Patz, Cosmopolis does not scream a summer movie to me but I don’t know what’s a good time to release it. They played magic with releasing Snow White — I almost ended up seeing it because there was nothing else new there. However, I have principles, so I’d better end up at Piranha 3D than support K-Stew creations 🙂
Getting back to Patz, as far as I know they haven’t found distributors for Mission:Blacklist (outside of Middle East), so it might be delayed. I like the idea with “The Professionals” but it’s still at the beginning, I’m not sure he’ll have chemistry with Scarlett in Hate Mail, and I really worry how he is gonna work against Guy Pearce in that Australian movie. Rob is no Tom Hardy, that’s for sure…The last project is another Cronenberg with Viggo but I haven’t heard good things about scenario.
@anothernina. I like RPatz quite a bit, even if I find his recent Twilight bashing and Twilight director blaming awful. Honestly, I think both he and KStew are decent people and that he seems like an entertaining guy. But yeah, I’m worried about his career. You can do indies, but you have to do at least some somewhat mainstream indies in addition to the more off beat ones. The army film sounds interesting, but you just know they are going to compare it against the Bigelow Bin Laden film and there is no way in hell it can come anywhere close to that. The Australian movie sounds awesome, but I’m not sure how they are going to find a US release for an indie film about Australian criminals that basically centers around a car chase. I love Guy Pearce, but he doesn’t have a lot of box office power. The director of that is a interesting director, but his other film wasn’t even released in the States I believe. I feel like they would have announced at the very least an approximate US release date for Cosmopolis if they were going to do it…It already has a buyer and was released in Canada. The Cronenberg film sounds like they are not anywhere close to being ready to film or even start preproduction. As far as the other films he’s talked about, neither seems to have any firm directors, producers, etc. Stars sign onto films all the time that never get made, so I don’t really give a lot of weight to a project unless there is a director or producer announced with the project. I just believe that signing himself up for three or four films that may never even be released in the states (actually, probably won’t unless you count the new Cronenberg film) is a bad career move. That’s obviously going to take up a good year and a half to two year chunk of his career, especially with the release dates…Unlike actresses, I feel like they are more flexible with casting male actors of different ages in roles too…So he’s going against Gosling, Fassbender, Oscar Isaacs, Garrett Hedlund, Tom Hardy, etc. Hedlund’s in an upcoming Coen Bros. film about music, and you know RPatz with his musical ability probably wanted that role because of the directors and the subject. So yeah, I really am a bit worried that his career is going to stall over the next two years. I think he would be better off taking a supporting role or doing a more mainstream role in the near future.
@ A
“So yeah, I really am a bit worried that his career is going to stall over the next two years. I think he would be better off taking a supporting role or doing a more mainstream role in the near future.”
Yeah, I agree with the latter statement. I think he also would be better off if he could upgrade his French. There are plenty of interesting movies there and it seems like they are fascinated with him right now. Rob does give a very European vibe (I mean some actors assimilate here very easily, and he does not seem to be the type.) I think he would end up writing and making movies every couple of years.
That’s what I’ve been wondering about for a while now, and I realized I dislike her fans far more than I dislike her. Her heavy breathing in SWATH was distracting but I think she did a better job of acting in this movie than any of the Twilight crap I sat through. Not saying she’s a great actress, but it was an improvement..
I’ve defended both Bey and Blake Lively. It’s stupid to think Bey had a fake belly. There are photos of her in a bikini with her pregnant belly hanging out. Bey is super talented and works her ass off. Did you ever see that 60 minutes interview? No one works as hard as Bey in my opinion. Blake is a pretty girl who hasn’t done anything to deserve the hate either. I think the people who call her an ugly, home wrecking ho need to check themselves. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I don’t know how anyone can find Blake ugly…maybe not as pretty as I do, but ugly? no. I disagree with one part though. I find people get harsher with Bey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kristen Stewart, Blake Lively, etc. when none of those women have done anything to deserve the level of vitriol thrown at them. I went into a pro Gwyneth rant on Jezebel (and I’m mixed race) when people were attacking her for the Jay Z Kanye Paris tweet. Hell, well I think getting a DUI is stupid as fuck and horrible, I don’t think a person deserves to be branded as a horrible human being for that. Anyway, I get not liking a celeb but I think people get BATSHIT when it comes to Gwyneth, Bey, Kristen, etc. It’s indicative of the internet and anonymous blogs…people release their rage on these celebs who haven’t done jack shit to deserve said rage. Chris Brown and Chelsea Handler are probably the only celeb where I understand why people say they hate them and find them horrible people, because one is a known woman beater and the other is a known racist who cracked racist remarks about kids. Saying you find someone annoying or obnoxious, I understand. Saying Bey is a horrible human being and that Kristen is a moronic twit and a bad person, I don’t understand.
@ Crystal
Basic white? You wouldn’t happen to be from ONTD… and you wouldn’t happen to have a Beyonce avi, would you?
ONTD. As in Livejournal ??? Nope. Why??? I would have a Beyonce avi if I was there though.
Please forgive me if I don’t have the right words to say what I’m trying to say. What I just wrote was just deleted by me (stupid computer)
I don’t know if I can articulate this properly but I do feel that Kristen is immature and not self aware at all or as wordly as she thinks she is or would like to be.
So, a stupid girl in 6th grade (who obviously didn’t know the difference between mass market, ready wear, and haute couture) made fun of her for not wearing juicy jeans and that made Kristen not care about her appearance at all?
So, for the sake of self-preservation she adopted and I don’t care attitude for everything. She couldn’t tell the girl the girl that juicy wasn’t “Vogue.” Kristen just decideds that all fashion people must be like that 6th grade girl and doesn’t bother to educate herself and just rejects all attempts to make herself look nice or keep clean?
I didn’t know how to dress myself in middle school either and I got a lot wrong. I was wearing almost tapered jeans with sneakers (didn’t know abut shoes) and wide legged jeans (70s style was back AGAIN) And people tried to make me feel bad. Guess, what? I kept reading Seventeen magazine and my Mom’s VF and I realized that those girls didn’t dress much better than me and they were stupid. But I didn’t also turn my nose up at people that liked fashion, clothes, and shopping.
Wow, elementary and middle school really did a number on this girl. I really identify with her because I went through similar things. However, I didn’t stop caring and go out with dirty hair and dirty clothes. Sometimes I rebelled and didn’t want to conform by looking pretty or too conventional (once I knew how to look pretty I didn’t always want to just to make someone else happy) .
I feel like she is PTSD victim when she brings up being made fun of like that. I really feel bad for her. But I think she is immature because she lets it define her. Now she is in a world were she can’t get away with that as much. I mean just look, we all call her out on it…we all have enough (or MORE) self-awareness to see it but she doesn’t have any.
Also, as for the many unsmiling pics of her if she and Rob are such ‘artistes’ have they thought that maybe those pictures say just as much about her as photos of her smiling do?
That it’s sort of Warholian that one fragment of her can so much about her and is recycled by the media into something much bigger? And that it is as revealing as anything else?
She does have low self-esteem and anxiety issues but she isn’t as honest about it as her fans want to say she is. If she were we would be saying “wow, she is really self aware and honest and she is working on herself,” and we wold like and respect her more for it. However, she is doing the same schtick that she did in middle school which is to clock herself in the idea that she ‘isn’t shallow like all those other people’ she is still using a poor sense of self-preservation to protect her fragile ego instead of being gutsy and facing those old wounds.
The juicy comment didn’t make her change anything, she was just saying she was self aware that she wasn’t fashionable like other girls,a nd got called out for it. She just sounds like she grew up in a house with a lot of boys and a mom who’s a hippie.
That she still has issues with things which happened so long ago is very telling. I think very few people got through puberty and the early educational system without being put on the spot by their peers, made fun of or outright humiliated.
But most people suck it up, learn from the experience and keep growing. This girl seems painfully stunted. And for someone who seems so focused on navel gazing she seems to perform no meaningful introspection. She has a lot of growing up to do and she is really behind schedule.
I didn’t get the impression that she still has issues from the ribbing she endured in middle school for being clueless about fashion back then. I thought she mentioned it to show how much her fashion sense has evolved through the years. It is a quite a transformation. Here she is doing a high fashion photoshoot by world famous fashion photographer Mario Testino for VF magazine but as a pre-teen she was being teased by classmates for not wearing fashionable enough jeans.
Yes, the personal growth is astounding.
In my experience, people who call themselves “weird” or “crazy” are usually the most vapid, boring twits you’ll ever meet.
In one respect, Kristen Stewart has much in common with Angelina Jolie.
They are the only two actresses working right now who are capable of inciting such intense love and hostility from their fans and detractors.
More than anything else, the intensity of people’s response to her, both positive and negative, has convinced me that she has a very good shot at a strong post-Twilight career.
Such a snoozefest. She looks like dozens of other girls who did the high school play. Really, I’ve watched videos buffering and found it more entertaining.
I’m more appalled by her inability to express herself without cursing and the constant complaining and yes the mouth breathing are certainly dismaying. Remember kids, “profanity is the crutch of inarticulate mofo”
People over analyze this girl sooooo much. They are obsessive about it. As far as “sh-t” being the word of the day, you know that interviews printed in magazines are EDITED, and do not contain all of the words that she spoke in the interview, right?
I don’t understand why people get so hung up on her cussing. She is an adult, adults cuss.
I’m completely underwhelmed by her but this “But that changed my daily life instantly. I didn’t go out in my underwear anymore.” cracked me up
Crystal, are you sure you like her?? read your damn comments, her fans defend her because people like you and oters attack her FOR EVERYTHING!!!!
she hasn’t done any harm to anybody, yet you and others crucify her for everything, you say you don’t care, but you do, you’re full of hate and jealousy, because she has everything you want.
You don’t like her, fine but why read her articles, why watch her videos, do you get a sick satisfaction of watching it just so you can come to a board and talk trash about her? how fun is your damn life that you need to do that.
Take a look at yourselfs, Kristen is not the ugly person here, is all of you, she still living her life pretty happy, with all her millions, her boyfriend, and fans all over the world who love her, so please continue hating her, I feel bad for you
Girl please, you and kstew both need to get over yourself. This is Celebitchy. People come here to bitch about celebrities. You dont like it? Leave.
oh and excuse me but since when does having millions and being famous give someone completem happiness and the guarantee an amazing life? I knoiw some people who are rich as F*ck, have everything and are miserable.
Kristen even seems miserable with everything she has. And being Very famous is not a blessing it’s a curse, someone I know who knew a famous person personally, once told me that. You don’t know what people are actually feeling even if they have everything
Quick, someone call the WAAAAAAAAMBULANCE.
i really hope you are not over the age of 14 and writing such nonsense.
if you are 14 years of age or under, i will give you a pass.
I can’t speak for anyone else but 99% of the time I come here to giggle at idiotic, borderline crazy, irrational and angry comments like yours…
I wish I could say that envy you, because clearly you’ve got nothing better to do with your time than defending a girl who doesn’t give a flying monkeys toss about you. But I don’t.
Stan, yes, she is a real fan.
Now, I highlighted for you the most relevant part of Cristal’s post:
“I like Kristen but her stans need to evapourate off the earth because I’m betting that most people project their hate of her delusional stans onto her (at least, I know I do)”
That is so true.
Call me old-fashioned, but whatever happened to people having CLASS in Hollywood? Or at the very least, perceived class?
She really has to wonder why everyone thinks she is a miserable bitch, seriously?
If I have to read one more interview of her where she’s cursing every other word and bitching about how hard it is to be famous, I am gonna vomit!
“reality” tv based around people’s “lives” is what happened
My favorite comment about this VF article comes from dlisted:
“What’s wrong with being a sh1t eater?” – that dog
That comment along with the look on that dog’s why me? face says it all.
MK’s take on these things is always absolute gold. He can be so crass and sometimes so disgusting but he goes straight to the heart of the matter with such aplomb and mastery that I always feel like an enlightened trick after I’ve read his stuff. I also feel a bit dirty, but I’ve come to like that too.
What is that saying…Oh yes “VF can put lipstick on a pig but….” This article did not do her justice. Epic fail.
For the sake of the fact that I simply had to know, the word “sh-t” (which is ridiculously censored as though anyone doesn’t know what it is) 6 times. I believe “F-ck” was only used once this time. (I know it got much more use in another article.)
See, this… Is where I can admit jealousy & bitterness. Look at the incredible places she’s having pictures done in… Places I’ll probably never see, in my life, but want to more than anything. Yet she describes herself as a “…weirdo creative valley girl who smokes pot“.
Is that fair? I mean, really. Is she the sort of person who belongs in beautiful Paris, in haute couture, probably smoking pot on her cigarette break in front of the Eiffel Tower?
….*sigh* And the little dog does look stupid.
I am originally from Lyon…believe me, you are over romanticizing my home country. I love my homeland, but everyone has the right to visit if they can afford it…even fanny pack wearing, loud Americans.
I’m sure you’re right, about the over-romanticism of Paris (like everywhere else famous for something specific). I know nothing is ever exactly how you imagine it, & sometimes you’re completely offbase. But I still think experiencing other places, (even if they’re not remotely like your expectations), is amazing. =)
Ahhh~ yes. I’m familiar with our fanny pack-wearing scourge on the American reputation. (God those things should not only be banned, but considered a deadly sin. My father is guilty of it when we go to amusement parks.)
It’s so embarrassing to think those in other countries judge Americans in general based on what they see in so many rude, loud, fashionably challenged tourists. That certainly isn’t my style, but what’s a handful of polite, quiet, appropriately fashioned (at least decent) Americans ..against the countless mob of boorish tourists? *sigh*
Kristen Stuart does *not* belong traveling the world as a millionaire when this is the sort of person she is. & She definitely isn’t helping the world’s impression of the US any. =_=
She is a f-cking pothead moron. You can still care about your image, dress up nice and appropriately and that does not mean your are a fake person. I guess she connects “im gonna look like sh-t because I am honest”. And also, you can be honest without cussing all the time in an interview, but maybe shes so desperate to show her “true self” she just cant be a professional and be respectful at her work environment. Pathetic.
Apparently YOU can’t be honest without cussing. Hypocrite.
Im not giving an interview for a magazine, am I?! Yea. Dont think I would talk like that if that was the case.
Wow…for someone so many of you dislike so intensely, you seem to spend a lot of time talking about her.
Guess what? I don’t like Rooney Mara or Emma Stone. And guess what? I don’t read articles about them or spend my time insulting either of them on the internet. What a concept!
You think she has no class? I think bitter, jealous women like all of you have no class for taking this much time to hate someone so much and writing about it for all to see. Sad and pathetic. Get a life.
Hate comes from bitterness and jealousy.
Or maybe Im simply bored, glancing through the website and see something so ridiculous I feel like commeting? Not every person you dont like means you are jealous of them. Thats just taste and opinion.
Honey. You’re wasting your time. That’s too much common sense for a K-Stew fan. They wouldn’t know sense if it came glazed on a Krispy Kreme. Let them call us jealous. What else are they gonna do? It’s not like they can defend her amazing acting or iconic style.
Congratulations, hedy – You’re better than the rest of us.
What is the deal on the video posted with this she can express herself very well without soundly like a snotty idiot but on paper she never comes across well? I just hope her acting is improving before I am forced to watched the final twilight movie with the kids :).
Beautiful cover shot, and nice to see an on camera interview in those amazing settings. I believe she did get harassed as a teen–the leg shaving thing struck me because I was subject to that exact same taunt in gym class at 15. It sounds small and ridiculous but when you’re in that awkward stage between dressing like a child and dressing like a woman, it’s one more thing to make you feel like you don’t belong. I would imagine part of her resents the image factor of her job, while the other half is still trying to figure out exactly what she wants her adult appearance to be.
I used to dislike her and I didn’t know why. Then I realized I dislike her fans instead. They worship her like a goddess. The same happens with her boyfriend, Robert PA…something.
Last weekend, I watched SWATH and I really enjoyed it. She was fine. She did not ruin the movie for me. I wasn’t expecting a Meryl Streep performance by the way.
As for her interview, she’s fine too. She curse like a sailor but she does no harm. Give her a break, please!
Her fans are the absolute worst. They have a persecution complex like none I’ve ever seen.
It’s kind of why I get a kick out of Lainey, because she mocks the stans of both RPatz and KStew. Lainey, unlike Kaiser, likes KStew but she will call her on her shit. She also mocks the people who honestly believe Beyonce engineered some conspiracy about her baby. Like Hello, do you all forget about the photos of her pregnant self in a bikini.
Agree with this 100%. I actually don’t mind Kristen. Her acting chops – outside of the Twilight series – are actually quite good.
But the Twi-Hards and the rabid barking dogs that make up her core fanbase are so unreasonable, so unhinged, that it cools me on her a lot. I know that’s not her fault, but when Twi-Hards go batshit on people for writing even the most innocuous gossip on her, it makes it very hard to take them seriously.
The most demented Kristen Stewart fans have real problems. Their constant need to “defend her honor” is tiresome and annoying. The Twi-Hards are the main reason people piss on Kristen Stewart and mock her. Maybe if the Twi-Hards backed off a bit and didn’t go apeshit simply because someone on the Internet doesn’t bow at Kristen’s feet, maybe the Kristen-hate would wear off a bit.
I want to like Kristen, but the demented Twi-Hards make it very, very difficult to.
Honestly, she complains a LOT and seems very self-involved and concerned with her own image, despite all of her protesting. That’s what I always take away from her interviews.
WOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW. SHE’S SIMPLY STUNNING!!!!!!!
aww Crystal, I thought you didn’t hate her, isn’t that wha you said, keep at it bitter hag, you’re obsessed with her
LOL. Don’t come for me boo. You’re not on my level. Stay pressed. K-Stew gives zero f*cks about you and your poor spelling.
Bitter hag…You’re so self depricating honey. You shouldn’t call yourself names, you can’t be that bad.
shailee… girls like crystal have a very very low self esteem… they dont get asked by guys.. so they sit on their fat ass all the time in front of their computer screens… when they see prettier girls they feel a subconsious rivalry… no need to teach this old haggard fatty anything…. this girl must be jealous of every beautiful girl so no need for preatching this moron… i wont be surprised if this girl even goes on all megan fox videos to comment how ‘bad’ she looks.. lol…grow up.. you dont need to diss ur gender so badly… afterall ur a female urself!
Reminds me of feisty Betty Davis and Katherine Hepburn. being banned from work and telling off rich producers and other upper movie people in the entertainment industry off when she wanted to portray a character in her style and not do other movies and become typecast in the golden days of film.. She is who she is.. this is real not movie publicity.. I am not timid, sweet and Belle-like fragile in private life. I won’t smile if my feet hurt, it’s cold, hot and I feel bad.. pretend to be that grateful slave that got a lucky break. I study my roles and try my best with what freedom I have to do the character and work hard to fulfill my contract, but I am breaking free eventually and you might not like my independent views.. of what is suitable for me in my career.
Oh, please. She is NO Katherine Hepburn or Bette Davis. They were smart and had dramatic training and they were mature women with interesting backgrounds. Kristen’s a smug valley girl, pseudo intellect.
Hate is a strong word, but I really, really don´t like her.
Not much for this person. She’s an adult, and yet she kind of still sees herself as the emo kid in high school. If you’re so alternative, please stop taking on all these big budget movies. K?
She always comes off as pretentious to me. I know she is young but I compare myself to her, as a complete idiot at her age, and I come out ahead in the brains department. That’s not saying alot. Ahem, I’m just sayin.
This girl has issues. This isn’t necessarily a negative remark, just a remark. She has issues. We all do, most of us deal with them though. Generally the people we love and who love us tell us to pull our socks up and deal with it or get help.
Sort of wonder, genuinely, if someone came up to you, a complete stranger in a professional setting work, an interview a meeting whatever. Acting like she does, looking like they’ve not bathed in a week, swearing to punctuate sentences, acting like noone understands them, treating everyone else like they’re idiots because ‘they just don’t get it’. How would you honestly react? Would you be as complementary? Or would you run the other way?
I agree, exactly! I think it’s worse for her now because she is in an industry that is sort of like a bubble and then there is the success of Twilight…so unless her parents or close friends (who are probably a lot like her) don’t say anything she isn’t going to grow as a person anytime soon. Sad.
I love the photos. Gorgeous.
Aw, well she looks pretty when she showers.
Why oh why did they have to use a cover photo with that slack open mouth? It is such a horrible look for her. Ye, yes and we all know you’re a pothead. Those glassy empty eyes are a dead giveaway.
I sometimes wonder if she’s full of sh*t, but calling Karl Lagerfeld ‘sweet’ sealed the deal.
Sweet?
I grew up in the Valley & Valley girls are bitches. I got teased for not having a Gucci purse and BMW- I drove an old VW convertible-so I know how they f*ck with your self-esteem. I like KStew. She ‘s not some stupid a** piece of fluff slut straight from the nearest casting couch with fake t*ts. She cares, but kinda doesn’t, and won’t change who she is. Good for her! I’m 51 and feel the same way- rock on, Girl!
after seeing her on the mtv movie awards, i just love her more. her awkwardness is petty mortifying, but then i realized i get affected more than she does lol. i love the part where she has her feelings hurt when a girl is mean about her unshaven legs. i wish i hadn’t succumbed to middle school peer pressure and disappeared within insecure conventionality. i admire her for never wavering in her differences although she gets skewered for them. i believe her when she says she has no regrets about twilight and all the fame it’s brought her, but i wonder how her career would have fared differently had she never become so associated with the franchise. bc she was already a prominent indie girl before twilight and attached to on the road, so i’m sure she would have encountered some level of fame eventually, but more in terms of sundance than the mtv movie awards and E!. and then she wouldn’t have to defend herself so much against scrutiny and preconceived notions of her or her projects.
i think a lot of criticism comes from her age and how people think a person should behave at that age. people are very adamantly stating she’s NOT a teen anymore, she’s an ADULT. it really perpetuates the idea that growing into an adult is like a curse. like you can’t be this anymore, you have to be like this. which isn’t true. just because you’re legally an adult doesn’t mean you’re suddenly going to change in profound, immediate ways. it takes time to figure yourself out. and just because she’s 22 doesn’t mean she has to completely detach herself from all things slightly reminiscent of adolescence. she curses. people may not agree or find it unprofessional, but i don’t think it’s an issue of immaturity. i just think she uses a lot of cursing in her language, and as a personal offense, it’s not very criminal. i think it’s actually a little insulting when people bitterly say if she were in the real world she would have already graduated college and have a full time job or be applying for grad school. we’re in a recession right now. a lot of young adults aren’t traveling on these perfectly planned timelines of what to achieve in their 20s. the culture of 20 somethings has changed. 22 is still very young. even if you’re lucky to be in school or have your first professional job, you still have no idea what you’re doing. we’re only just beginning. it isn’t fair to say bc she’s been in the business for over a decade, she should be a seasoned professional. before twilight she barely had to do any press. there’s like 3 interviews in total from into the wild. she’s still just 22, and i’ll say it again, that’s still very young. i’m a little younger than her, and i think she’s doing just fine. i think the people who dislike her for whatever reason will always dislike her bc i don’t think she will compromise her personality to suit random critics online, but as far as the longevity of her career goes, i don’t think she’ll satisfy you with greater offenses.
normally, i wouldn’t write so much and would feel weird about it, but everyones gotten carried away on this post, writing like we’re contributing important arguments to a scholarly discussion, so i’ve said my piece too. lol. i’ve invested WAYYY too much time on this post.
oh god, i hope i don’t get cyber bullied for this comment. the kristen critics can be just as invested and mean as the crazy twilight fans.
I wish she’d talk about something other than just herself in interviews but I rather like the video. For once she was much more personable and articulate. I think she is improving every year and while I can’t say she’s a smart actress there is something about her acting that draws you in. She’s good for certain roles and terrible for others. She’ll be interesting to watch.
I’m not really a fan or hater of hers. She’s too innocuous to elicit a strong emotional response from me. By the way Kaiser, I seperated from my wife a few months ago and you have my email address. Just sayin. 😉
I dont get what the big deal about her cursing is. She’s young, she’s still at that phase where she thinks adding curse words to sentences emphasizes her point. I do the exact same thing so I guess I can relate to that.
I dunno, I just like it when she curses, makes her seem real, like one of my friends talking not some big shot hollywood actress.
I’m getting sick of the little twerp. She’s always a sourpuss. Is she even that great an actress – remember we’re talking “Twilight.” Overkill!
The more I see those photos the more I think she should have played Liz. No The cracken… At least she’s pretty.
So I picked up Vanity Fair this afternoon while at the magazine stand along with a few others (I live in Los Angeles, and LA/NY tend to get magazines earlier than the rest of the country) and read the article…Weirdly, this is actually one of the best interviews she’s ever done…The journalist is clearly leading her to talk about fame and trying to frame her as the Winona Ryder type, but she comes across really well except for that one damn quote about the shit eaters. It’s frustrating, because I like Kristen and she always comes so close to doing something well (interviews, fashion) and then one minor thing f’s it all up. I’m going to reiterate…girl needs to learn self control. She held it together for most of the interview, but then she lost it for a few sentences…and then of course the journalist and VF pounced on that as a lead headline. Magazines always use the most attention grabbing headline, and so they use the four sentences in which she curses and she surprisingly doesn’t curse during the rest of the interview except for once. Anyway, I’d wish she learn that even one f up can f up an entire great interview…that journalists aren’t out to make you look good, they are out there to sell a product and the more out there it is the better chance they have of doing so.
Bitches, you love her.
Just admit it and let’s move on.
😀
Sometimes I feel sorry for this girl, but then she comes out with this utterly ignorant drivel, and I just CANNOT with her. In fact, Robert is as ignorant as she is if they think that the negative perceptions of her are simply due to her “unsmiling awkardness” Personally, I’ve never bought that she’s either awkward or shy, and in fact her fucking boyfriend is adamant that she is neither. He says she’s insanely confident. Well, the flip side to is usually arrogance. I also think that she is just a humourless person. This is really evident in her cringe-worthy performances at award shows. She tries, but she just can’t pull it off, and it comes across as awkward.
I always see these comments about her maybe having some form of social anxiety disorder. I seriously doubt that. She’s an arrogant, humourless girl who takes herself far too seriously (even Robert alluded to this when he said in an interview that “she takes what she says very seriously”). She has also admitted that she is arrogant. She wants to be perceived as honest and real and not to be judged unfairly. But at the same time she openly derides and judges others for their supposed fakeness. She resists labels, yet proceeds to label herself as a creative weirdo. She is so painfully lacking in any self-awareness. It’s this combination of arrogance and humourlessness that makes her such an unlikable person, imo.
So, Kristen, you don’t give a fuck about us “shit-eaters”? Well, I’ve got no more fucks to give about your movies. I’d rather spend my money on movies featuring far more talented actresses. As an actress, and I use the term loosely in regards to her, she is unable to disengage from her personality in order to completely embody whatever character she’s playing. This is why so many people just see Kristen Stewart being Kristen Stewart in her roles. I really, really hope that she does not get the part of Peyton in the adaptation of Lie Down In Darkness, over Jen Lawrence or over any other actor for that matter. That would be a tragic mistake.

^THIS.
I completely agree with the rest as well, but that paragraph tells it exactly how it is, IMO.
I love the way she look (I mean in every photo, she is original) but I can’t say the same thing for her acting.
Uh, I could not begin to read all the comments, sorry if I am being repetitive. She looks pretty in this shoot, who is the ballet dancer looking hottie? I agree she can handle strong makeup. I haven’t been wowed by her acting yet, and as a (former wannabe) actress she is of the school of acting that does annoy me a bit – the I don’t have to try terribly hard, I know I’m good, when they’ve never shown more than a flicker of emotion school. It’s like they are channeling the worst parts of Method and none of the good. I don’t get the impression she has studied it much, I know she was a child actor and probably has been told she’s good for long enough to accept it without trying to improve. She and Scarlett Johanssen are incredibly similiar in this respect imo, just monotone bores relying on a perceived screen presence. I do think she tries a bit more in her own way but she internalizes absolutely everything and then we just get a muted perception of emotion, which I guess was alright for Twi-hardism. I just wish these girls would take a class with someone who doesn’t blow smoke up them, it really is an insult to anyone who even half learned to act to see people like this being praised. And Blake Lively – don’t get me started ugh!
The only problem I have with KS is that she doesn’t show enough appreciation for the things that she is having.
Hard-working designers and high-end brands sent her clothes and other luxury only for her to call them ‘some cool shit’ ?
the media, the people who writes about her, keeping her in the spotlight got to be call ‘starving shit eaters’ ?
most of all, the fans, the actual people who give her all the fame, popularity hence money got to be called ‘annoying’ and ‘disrespectful’. did you read that articles where she complains about fans tweeting about her? she refused to take photos with the fans. she rarely stops to chat or even sign for them.
she comes to talk shows with a sour face, bad attitude, mumbling incoherent words under her breath, … is nothing but rude and a serious lack of social interacting skills.
Acting is just as much a job as any other job. It comes with terms and requirements. She doesn’t want to give a fuck about fame? she hates when people stick too much of a nose into her personal life? guess what? that’s EVERYONE’s problem if you’re in Hollywood’s spotlight, if you star in a successful movie. There are so many actors and actresses that don’t give a fuck about what others have to say about them. But guess what, they keep calm and answer questions in interview with full sentences and a direct eye contact.
The least thing this girl can do in an interview if she really is uncomfortable and bad at social interaction is to truly say “hey man, you know what, I’m not comfortable with this.” or actually just say no to invitations to events and talk shows rather than showing up with an attitude.
If she just does her job as an actress, smile on the red carpet, answer or refuse to answer in interviews would be so much so much nicer than acting up like a sullen disrespectful teenager.
In my opinion, her acting skill is nowhere near good. She is an average at her best performance and a worst at her bad. Unless you are great at what you do, don’t put up a shitty passive-aggressive attitude and assume people would have to deal with it.
Wow, awesome job with the airbrushing!
Gotta say, I love that dog for the sole purpose that it looks like a tiny gorilla. How delightfully weird!
I still prefer her honesty to the usual crap they shit down our throats.
She feels untouchable now, but she isn’t or won’t be forever anyway. Should have skipped the pot reference. Too bad the interviewer didn’t ask her if she was gay because I think she will come out before we see the last of her…
Potheads sure like talking about being potheads.
I hate the whole “I dress like a slob in my real life because I don’t give a f-k” spiel she’s always spewing. Most of her “casual” wardrobe is actually really expensive designer pieces or vintage pieces that cost a buttload. She’s spoiled as f-k and I hate how fake she is.
Chicklett Teefs…….
she bugs me. she always looks the same…. bored.
