New dad Jack Osbourne has revealed that he was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Jack and his mom, Sharon, did an interview with Hello! Magazine discussing Jack’s medical condition and the ordeal he’s gone through since finding out the news. Jack and his fiance, Lisa Stelly, welcomed daughter Pearl Clementine on April 24th and he found out he had MS just two weeks later. He was diagnosed after losing over half his vision in one of his eyes. Here’s more:
Reality TV star Jack Osbourne has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
The 26-year-old discovered he had the disease after losing 60 per cent of vision in his right eye.
And speaking to Hello! magazine, he told of his shock at the diagnosis but said he is refusing to let it get him down.
Jack, who recently became a father for the first time said at first he went through all different emotions when he was waiting for the diagnosis.
He said: ‘While I was waiting for the final results, I got really, really angry.
‘The timing was so bad. I’d just had a baby, work was going great – I kept thinking, “Why now?”
‘Then I got really sad for about two days, and after that I realised, being angry and upset is not going to do anything at this point – if anything it’s only going to make it worse.
‘Adapt and overcome’ is my new motto.’
He said his fiancé Lisa – who gave birth to their daughter Pearl two months ago – has been very positive and supportive.
And she told the magazine: ‘Jack will have to change his life for the better – get healthier, not get stressed.’
Multiple sclerosis affects the brain and the nervous system and destroys layers between the nerves in the brain and spinal cord which stops impulses being carried around the body.
It can result in blindness, slurred speech, muscle weakness and a loss of coordination.
And Jack’s parents Sharon and Ozzy said they were still struggling to come to terms with the diagnosis, with Sharon even blaming herself.
She said: ‘I keep thinking, “what did I do wrong? What did I eat or drink when I was pregnant?” I feel like it’s somehow my fault.
Ozzy added: ‘If it was me, you’d think: “Ozzy had a reputation and it caught up with him,” but Jack is such a good guy.’
[From The Daily Mail]
Montel Williams was on The Dr. Oz show recently and he said that when he was first diagnosed with MS doctors told him he would be wheelchair bound, and that he wouldn’t live past a certain age. A few years ago, he revealed that he was so ill from the disease that in 1999 that he contemplated suicide. He even tried to jump in front of a taxi at one point but the driver narrowly avoided him and helped him to the curb. Now Montel is thriving and living well with MS. The disease has a different course for all sufferers, it can wax and wane, and it affects people in many ways. I guess I’m saying that I hope that Jack can be like Montel, healthy and strong. It must have taken a lot of courage for him to go public with the news and I hope that his health improves. He’s always seemed like a decent guy to me.
Jack tweeted this photo of his daughter on June 14. So cute!

Wow, that really sucks. I wish him a long life.
On another note, standing in front of that wing emblem is making her hair look very funny.
lol – yes it does!! like she has wings on her head.. lol
That’s what I recognized too 😉
I feel bad for him, he is so young and seems really nice. Wish him the best!
Poor Jack! Wishing you all the best, man. I <3 Ozzy.
BE STRONG JACK! Rooting for you!
My cousin has MS, and from what she’s told me, and what I’ve read, it’s ‘lucky’ that Jack isn’t living in the 70’s, that he got it today.
The treatments, research, are SO FAR advanced than even a few decades ago. After 12 years of MS, my cousin ‘only’ walks with a limp—not wheelchair-bound like they warned her when she was first diagnosed. In fact, they told her she’d probably die before 40. But her treatments are good (yay science), and 12 years later, she still WORKS, and not a desk job.
Best wishes to Jack & his family. It’s a tough diagnosis, and being sick sucks. But we’re all rooting for him.
Edit: My cousin was diagnosed in 1995, so it’s been 17 years! I either can’t do math, or have forgotten what year it is now. ha.
That’s good to hear. Glad your cousin is doing so well, and thank goodness for the advances of modern medicine!
MS prognosis depends on the type of MS you have. When people are first dx with MS they may be believed to have Primary progressive MS but later turns out to be relapsing remitting. Hence being told that they may one day have to use a wheelchair but then turning out to basically have normal function. Here’s to hoping Jack has RRMS and not PRMS.
She lives out-of-state, so I don’t know right now which was she was initially diagnosed with—but I do know they were initially very GRIM about her having any future without a bedpan.
It was so traumatic for her & the immediate family at the time, but it made her really appreciate every day she’s still independent–I wish I had her good attitude, lemme tell ya.
I read on another site that Jack has the least aggressive form, which they said was relapsing/remitting, but this still sucks. He’s so young and worked so hard to get healthy and in shape.
wishing you the best Jack!
Me too…stay strong, Jack!
I’m truly sorry for him, MS is an hell of disease.
I really wish the best for Jack and his baby…As wacky as the Osbournes are, I truly think that they love one another a lot! By the way, I am reading Ozzy’s book at the moment, and it is so funny…cannot believe that guy is still alive with all the stuff he has done!
Oh, I wish him all the very best. MS is a very difficult disease to live with, I hope he has the relapsing/recurring type where it will come, then go a way for a little while, my roomie med student told me it’s easier to manage.
His little girl is adorable! The way she’s just looking at the computer like “Whaa…?”
Wow… It’s been a couple of months since I was diagnosed with MS and I didn’t know it would hurt so bad when I heard of someone else having it. It’s something unbearable at times that I wouldn’t wish on anyone.
Well c’est la vie! The only thing I can say is that I feel for him, and that the feeling will get better. His daughter is precious, I wish them all the best!!!
Wishing you all the best 🙂
It’s a given that everyone on here has conflicting opinions about things, but I think I can safely say that everyone on Celebitchy is behind you!
Good luck Lin. Stay strong. I agree with Amelia, we all wish you well.
Thank you Amelia and Just U!!! MS is truly horrible. It’s not only the physical part but the psychological too. MS hasn’t affected me at all, I’m as normal as anyone. But the thought of what it might do someday is terrifying. Most days are fine, until you read or hear about someone else getting this dx and you kind of relive it. Anyway thank you guys! I’m off to holidays now which means no internet..
Wishing you the best Lin – and Jack too.
Best of luck Lin. ***hugs***
Wish you well, Lin. I know many people who have it and with the exception of one person for whom that grim prognosis did come true, all are living well with it. I wish that for you.
Lin-wish I could give you a hug. I’ve had MS for almost 10 years now, and any time I hear about someone getting diagnosed, I am “hurt” too. I totally know what you are saying when you express it that way.
Thanks to all the Celebitchee-s who can be so awesomely kind when someone gets real about a health issue like this. I always love to see that!
Lin – best of luck to you. I was diagnosed 7 years ago, and the first year is the worst because of the anxiety – the “what if?”. It doesn’t completely go away, but gets much better to the extent that it is out of my mind most of the time. Make sure you’re on one of the meds, though!
Lin, I’ve had too many dealings with MS in the past, family and friends. But I just wanted to send you positive thoughts and hope you’ll stay upbeat. LilyB and Melissa are wonderful
examples of living positive lives. Good vibes to you two ladies aswell!!
Melissa: I completely agree with you about the first year! I felt like I was in this terrible fog, afraid of what to do next. Every twinge sent me in to a panic. As you go on, thankfully, you start to put it all into perspective. I hope Jack O. has someone to tell him this – be very gentle and kind to yourself, and enjoy the heck out of your cute baby. I think his wife/girlfriend can really help set a tone, too. My husband was so darned wonderful, it got me through.
Good Health to you, Melissa!
It’s crazy how much pain the human body can experience and keep going 🙁
Best wishes to you, MS is a helluva disease.
He’s got a great attitude about it. . . At least he has access to the best health care and has a loving and supportive family behind him. Sharon seems like a great mom to have.
Ugh, sucks so bad! One my good family friends has had the disease for over 10 years and I know how hard it gets.
that first picture of lisa stelly, she looks like she has valkyrie feathers on hear head. cool!
That’s sad. It’s a horrible disease. He’s only 26 and a new dad.
never thought much of him, but damn, that is tough… hope he gets healed of it.. i’m not sure if that is a possibility with MS though… in any case i hope a treatment is found anyway
Oh. These are sad news. He fought so hard to overcome his demons and now a diagnosis like this.
I am wishing him all the best. Stay strong, Jack.
Ah man…. that seriously sucks. He seems to be in the minority of kids of celebrities who, after screwing around like a nutter in his teens finally gets their lives together. Seems like a decent guy. It’s a crappy roll of the dice for anyone, I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed for he and his family.
That stinks, especially for someone fairly young. Best wishes to him, and everyone else affected by MS.
I hate to hear this. I hope everything works out for the best.
Congratulations on the new baby. I wish him and his family the best.
Oh my. What are the odds that he gets MS at such a young age, while Ozzy’s still kickin’, more or less? Good luck, Jack.
Unfortunately, MS is generally a young person’s disease. Most people are diagnosed in their 20s or 30s. People diagnosed in their 50s usually have a more severe/progressive form of the disease.
You’re right. A woman my mom worked with was diagnosed before she turned 30, and couldn’t work any more, it progressed so quickly. I just meant it was odd that he should be the one struck with something so debilitating when Ozzy was the one who snorted and drank everything put in front of him!
Not that he wouldn’t anyway, but maybe this will encourage him to make the most of fatherhood & cherish the time he has with his daughter while he still has his strength…? Everyone wins. That’s the only very, very slight silver lining I can see. Then again, I don’t know much about MS, just that you can lose feeling in your limbs. All the best to him & his family.
I was diagnosed with MS, almost 4 years ago. It takes a terribly LONG time/tests to get a diagnosis, but in the end you’re happy just to know what you have to start dealing with it. It is really hard because you are at a period in your life when you are thinking of marrying or starting a family. I am on an alternative medication (one that MS organizations DO NOT research and should as I have been lesion free for awhile, its also NOT $1400 a month). Sorry this disease is so frustrating to me when I think of all the politics involved. Anyway it really is hard to live with because everyone forgets you have it but you. No one cares/knows how fatigued you can get plus the other aches/pains you just live with and try to be glad it’s not worse. For me my hands are about 70% numb. No one understands that when you ask me “doesn’t this sweatshirt feel great?”. Yeah I don’t know how it feels..also buttoning a shirt and jeans, SUCKS. Anyway totally off topic because like i said its usually something I don’t talk about or get asked about. I just feel horrible for anyone with it, or diagnosed with it, because its much harder than anyone knows, even the mental part of it. You have got to keep yourself calm/stress free/healthy and positive because if you let it REALLY effect you I imagine it has a field day with you. Much love to fellow MSers, I feel your pain, and so sorry for Jack. For me personally, I guess in a way was a good thing, because I slowed down, wanted more out of life, and realized what is important..Its not money, jobs, toys..it really is health/love for me.
Sublime–Looking back, and it’s weird to say, I am glad I was diagnosed. I was quite the Type A personality, always burning the candle at both ends. Now I really appreciate more, and I have a lot more empathy for others, regardless of what they’re going through.
I hope your journey is a smooth one. I would ask everyone to think also of Jack O’s girlfriend/wife, she is going to need a lot of support in this, too.
thank you for sharing because you are right most wouldn’t know the simplest thing as buttoning or feeling material isn’t the simplest thing for you. I have known 2 people in my lifetime who had the non-remission MS.
Each of you LilyB, Sublime & Jack have realized the precious gift of time and your outlook on life is to live the best you can each day & that is inspiring to me, a stranger you will never meet.
peace&hugs to u from the girl (me) in oregon
my heart & hugs go out to each of u sublime, lilyB & jack
Boy,just when you think you have everything you have ever wanted in life and everything is gong just great.Life will drop something completely unexpected on you.Jack has grown into a fine young man and I wish him nothing but the best on this long road ahead of him/them.
I can’t imagine how scared he must feel about losing the rest of his vision after losing 60% in one eye rather quickly. It seems like he has a really good attitude about his diagnosis and I just think he seems like such a good guy. He seems like he is going to make a great father 🙂
