It’s a rubber suit! She does not look bad. Why not comment on how cold she looks and less about how “flattering” a rubber suit looks on her.

    • Heebeegeebee says:

Thank you! Matthew McCaunaghey’s current role isnt very ” flattering” either. I think her legs look strong and muscular, perfect for a warrior!

    • V4Real says:

      @ Audrey
I almost neglected my girl crush because of all this Halle craziness. I think she looks fine and you’re right; it’s a freaking rubber suit. Even if it was made by Prada or Gucci it would look the same.

      • Cindy says:

Agree. She’s supposed to be fighting for her life in it, not working the catwalk. She doesn’t look bad.

    • km says:

I don’t think that the implication is that Jennifer makes the suit look bad. I believe the point was that it is a bad suit in general. Therefore, ‘the catching fire costume is not flattering’.

  2. RobN says:

Who decided that putting a pattern on the outside of a woman’s hips and thighs was going to be a good idea? The outfit is not flattering, but she has a very pretty face.

  3. Lilo says:

I see nothing wrong there. She still looks great and has a wonderful figure. i’d look worse. definitely.

  4. Starlight says:

I don’t know but she looks very good with that suit.

  5. Erinn says:

Whoa whoa whoa. You don’t think this is flattering, but you think that monstrosity Kim K was wearing was flattering?

Such an odd comment, given that it’s a costume for the production of a movie, and not something she selected herself (and in any case, she looks fine!), while Kim’s was something she decided to wear on her own.

  6. shelley says:

She is underwhelming all round. I don’t see the need to comment either positively or negatively on how she looks

  7. kay says:

Thin jumpsuit with a belt/flotation device.

I promise to not open any more Hunger Games threads, but seriously, how hard is it to follow the costume ideas from the books…..

  8. Kimiber says:

I agree with RobN. Its not that Jennifer Lawrence looks bad in a wetsuit, its the way they placed the pattern, it makes her shoulders, hips, and thighs look broader than they are. It wasn’t the best design choice in the world, that being said the suit does look a lot better than I thought it would when reading the book.

  9. Rita says:

A red pair of six inch Prada stilettos is just what her outfit needs.

  10. Sisi says:

wasn’t the second hunger Games stage sort of tropical and hot?!? The surroundings make no sense

Also I seem to remember that the suits were blue in the story. A little color couldn’t hurt in these scenes :/ Sheesh, they were dressed by people from the Capitol and all… they don’t wear grey and black

    / nerd rant

    • RobN says:

They’re filming in Hawaii, it’s usually pretty reliably tropical and hot.

Totally agree on the costumes, though. The Capitol would not have gone for black and grey.

    • Kate says:

They can fix that. Australia exports a soap opera set in on a beach near Sydney, and they have actors in the freezing cold in winter there in bikinis, because they’re selling a tourists’ version of the country. By the time it’s done with it looks like the kids are having a whale of a time in tropical sunshine. They don’t need CGI, even. Just actors willing to freeze with smiles on their faces and the right filters.

Having said that, with the budget these guys have to throw about I can’t see why they didn’t head to Australia, or even NZ who offer big perks to encourage moviemakers. It really is summer in the southern hemisphere.

      • Esti says:

The first film was made for less than $80 million, which is a tiny budget for this kind of movie (especially compared to how much it made at the box office!). I’m sure that after it was a massive success the budget is bigger this time around, but it’s still not on the level of other action movies like The Avengers or Nolan’s Batman trilogy. And even with a higher budget, a big chunk of it is going to be eaten up by higher salaries for the actors this time around — Jennifer Lawrence made $500,000 for the first one, and is getting $10 million for this one, and the boys are also getting big bumps.

  11. EmmaStoneWannabe says:

Maybe it’s to make up for how hot/J.Crew-ish she looked in the first film?

  12. derpy says:

Instead of calling Liz&Dick highly rated can we just called it the fourth “most watched” if that makes sense? Because none of the reviews I’ve heard of were positive.

  13. fabgrrl says:

Is a rubber suit ever flattering?

  14. Nikki says:

I’d rather watch this film with a strong athletic female lead which this costume clearly shows. It is flattering IMO because I sure wouldn’t want to be one of her opponents.

  15. apsutter says:

Umm….so are we not going to talk about Brit Brit’s new song? I love her and really liked Circus but this new song is BAD. Why even bother having her in it because it’s pure auto-tune mess. She’s singing/talking in that terrible British accent she loved to use during her mental breakdown. And half the time it could be Madonna talking and no one would notice. Yuck.

    • Julian says:

I didn’t like it at first either but I heard it in a club & it sounded great! My only complaint is that it needs more Britney. I love the fake accent she has on it, I think she sounds sexy.

  16. Deb says:

It’s not a fashion show FFS. It’s a costume. She’s supposed to be fighting in the arena. What do you want her to wear? Dior??

  17. Paul E. Stanley says:

I would need to see the back side of the costume in order to make an educated assessment. 🙂

  18. Katie says:

That patterning on the thighs is criminal!! Every decent fashion designer knows you don’t attract attention to your hips like that. The costume designer should, presumably, have the same knowledge.

  19. Esti says:

I actually think this looks amazing on her. She looks fit and strong, which is exactly how she should look. “Flattering” is not synonymous with “as small as possible, preferably without visible muscle tone.”

  20. Ann says:

I don’t think flattering was their objective. It’s supposed to be functional and futuristic.

  21. Erin says:

this really isn’t that unflattering. she has a great figure and it shows. what else is there to discuss? of course she would look better in a dress.

  22. shewolf says:

Damn. This girl is in shape. I mean it emphasises that her thighs are wider than her hips but that isnt repulsive at all. Women fall into two categories in terms of hips… thighs are wider or hips are wider… its what gives us our feminine shape.

  23. muppet_barbershop says:

I do not care if it is not flattering. It’s not uglifying. More important, it is bad a*s.

  24. CC says:

The outfit is ok for what it is, but like some, I’d rather have seen them follow anything close to the books. This just looks like a high-tech diving suit and that’s not what was described, who still had undergarments. And I wonder how they’ll manage the poison mist section that ruined the outerwear, unless like Peeta’s leg, that part won’t happen like that?

  25. cc says:

    she looks great

  26. Kaiser says:

For f–k’s sake, fan girls. I didn’t say she was fug (she’s not), nor did I blame her for the costume (it’s not her fault). I was just commenting on the shitty design of the wetsuit. It IS unflattering.

  27. Jackson says:

I actually like the suit! And it’s a costume so I can’t really hate on it.

I think the Liz n Dick movie is Lifetime’s 4th highest TV movie. Not sure if that still makes it the 4th highest TV movie in general or not though.

    • judyjudy says:

4th highest rated tv movie THIS year not of all time. To me that translate to total piece of shite.

  28. Camille (TheOriginal) says:

Totally off topic, but the world premier of The Hobbit is happening in New Zealand today, any chance that we will get to see photos from it on Celebitchy tomorrow, pretty please?

  29. geekychick says:

Why? I find it great! I love it, actually (Jlaw’s costume, I mean;)

  30. Lindsey says:

This isn’t flattering, but Kim K’s sloppy black jumpsuit and greased hair is one of her best looks?

    Side-eye, girl. Side. EYE.

  31. Sawbuck says:

Cool headline on the link to the Gawker piece about the dude in TN shoving his wife onto a bed in a domestic violence event.

Is Chris Brown a Republican too?

His party affiliation is therefore relevant because WHY?

    Douche canoes.

  32. Mauibound says:

She is a gorgeous girl! I hate that dye job though, it’s awful. Couldn’t they make it more brown or something, it looks so harsh. I know it’s for the character but it doesn’t have to be perfect.

  33. ZenB!tch says:

Is Jessica’s diet WW approved or has she been fired?

  34. tigerblood says:

    Flattering?WTF ‘effin ridiculous sometimes,seriously.
    http://www.sectalk.com/board/public/imported_images/api.ning.com/uh_wtf_gif.gif

That costume is fine, it’s a warrior suit costume.
What you think she’s going to look like.Yeah let’s see her look like a victora’s secret bombshell runway model while fighting or whatever…
She looks like a badass! That’s all I care about.

  35. Cookie says:

She looks fit and strong. What are you on about?!

  36. Jules says:

It’s totally badass!…and it’s flattering to me (imho) because I’m looking at the photos and noticing how great her figure looks (LOL!)….her breasts and ass are amazing. Everyone’s mileage may vary of course. Personally I think it’s great that the wetsuit is functional and Jennifer manages to look hot wearing it.

  37. BlueAngelCV says:

I read this site almost everyday and never comment but I couldn’t stay silent about the header story.
In what world is that unflattering?
Jennifer has a crazy body and there is absolutely nothing wrong with her in that costume.

  38. megsie says:

That girl has an amazing body. I hope she’s enjoying it.

  39. Apprentice12 says:

I don’t find your attitude very flattering. If you had read the book, you would know that they have to wear costumes like that. And if you also had read the book, they actually improved on them here. And by the way, Jennifer always looks amazing in whatever she is in. She has the most amazing figure 🙂

  40. SLL says:

    Looks fine to me.

  41. Claire says:

    Jennifer is so gorgeous!!
