I cannot even begin to describe how disgusted and saddened I am by this news. Kim Kardashian announced that her teacup Persian (or whatever) kitten Mercy was put down. Euthanized, sent to kitty heaven. Mercy Kardashian-West was given to Kim by Kanye West a few months ago, and I thought Mercy had been living with Kim down in Miami all this time. Turns out, not so much. Turns out, Kim is “allergic”. Which you wouldn’t have known from how many photo-ops she did with the cat in which she was not sneezing or breaking out in rashes or anything. So, Kim claims she was “allergic” and that’s why she had to give Mercy away to Khloe’s assistant Sydney. Mercy then got a “cancer-like virus” and she was euthanized. How much of that do you believe? Here’s Kim blogging about Mercy’s death:
It is with deep sadness that I have to tell you all that my kitten, Mercy, has passed away. My heart is completely broken.
When I first got Mercy, I had never lived with a cat before and so I had no idea that I was allergic. I thought that it might pass, but after a few weeks I decided to go visit two separate allergists, one of whom said my allergies wouldn’t get any better unless I started taking injections. I had fallen SO in love with Mercy that I wanted to try everything I could to keep her, but I didn’t think it was safe to resort to injections, and it wasn’t fair on Mercy, because I couldn’t play with her or give her as much attention as I wanted to. Mercy deserved a mom who could really give her the time and affection she deserved. I knew that Sydney, Khloe’s assistant, who had recently lost a cat she had loved and cared for for 17 years, would be the perfect mom for Mercy and Sydney was so excited to have Mercy as her own!
Sydney gave Mercy a loving home, but after a couple of weeks Mercy got really sick and Sydney had to rush her to the vet. They discovered she had a stomach problem that we weren’t aware of. Her stomach had filled with fluid and the doctor said she had a rare stomach cancer and that there was nothing we could do for her. Poor little Mercy died the very next day. It broke not only my heart that little Mercy died at only four months old, but Sydney’s too.
Mercy was a gentle and loving kitten and we are all going to miss her so much. Thanks to Sydney for making Mercy’s short life one filled with love. RIP Mercy Xo
For the love of God. Some people are truly and terribly allergic to cats. I have a mild cat dander allergy, but my tolerance for cat dander builds up with more exposure to cats, so I’m okay minus a few sniffles here and there, which I’ve come to accept because… for the love of God, I’ve always been around cats. My point? When you have a really hardcore cat-allergy, you can’t just walk around Miami holding your cat, you know? Which makes me think that Kim either had a very mild allergy and simply couldn’t deal with it, or that Kim is simply made of lies. As for the whole “Mercy had stomach cancer” thing… maybe. Ugh. Rest in peace, poor little Mercy.
Dear Kanye: Please take this as a test case for a baby. This is exactly what will happen if you get your girl pregnant. Kim will have the baby and she will love it for a few weeks, then she’ll get bored and jealous (that the baby is getting so much attention) and she’ll make up an excuse to not pay any attention to the baby and then she’ll just let the nannies raise it. That is EXACTLY what will happen.

For pet owners, the loss of a pet is monumental (my siblings both lost theirs recently…I am planting wildflower seeds and a St Francis Assisi prayer in their honor even though they werent MY pets! I just have to!)
Mercy has indeed passed and crossed over, she is luxuriating on a fluffy cloud as white as her fur.
BTW- if Mercy died at 4 mths, and Kim got her like, what, a 2-3 mths ago, wasn’t that too young for a kitten? I got mine at 3.5 mths, so the SPCA said. early seperation from mum might have contributed..
I actually can believe that she didn’t know she was allergic to cats. There’s a difference in being around one and living with one. Also, since it was a long haired Persian, it probably had more dander.
It’s hard to tell from that statement just exactly what she was talking about, would “cancer like virus” mean Feline Leukemia virus?
With a kitten so young, it would seem like it would be a hereditary issue. I had a part Persian cat before and the vet told me that there were a lot of genetic issues with Persians and responsible breeders are very careful about testing and breeding (mine was an “oops” kitten I took in from a coworker.)
But this . . .

Exactly what I was thinking too. I’m allergic to cats but got a rescue cat to get rid of the mice in my newly purchased old house. My cat is a real character and I adore him but he can’t sleep in my room at night due to my allergies. Accurate warning for what kind of parent she’ll make, IMO. No nurturing personality there.

I don’t think KK is malicious – phenomenally stupid and a bit neglectful, yes, but malicious, no. So I think I’m inclined to believe this story.
When I first got my kittens I remember my Mum telling me that we had to be extra vigilant in keeping an eye on them to begin with because of Feline Infectious Peritonitis(?). I can’t remember a great deal about it, but I remember that kittens are particularly susceptible.
My furry kids were perfectly fine though, and now take great pleasure in stealing my seat whenever I move off the couch.
But I digress.

FIP is certainly a possibilty, but Mercy would have likely shown symptoms for a while before she succumbed. Given the speed at which her death (apparently) occurred, panleukopenia is more likely.
Neither of these diseases BTW, is in any way a form of cancer, so her explanation is still bogus.
I’ve fostered kittens for adoption with a rescue group and despite my experience and best efforts, I lost three of the to FIP, Feline Infectious Peritonitis. The wet or effusive form of this always fatal disease can come on very quickly, and mostly happens in the immunosuppressed, such as kittens. One of my foster kittens went from seemingly fine to symptomatic (fluid filled belly, not eating, lethargy) in a matter of a couple of weeks. I despise Kim and her family, but shit happens. The experience I had was horrible; I haven’t truly gotten over it and it has been over five years. Still, Kim shouldn’t have been taking that cat everywhere like she did–it’s too stressful for them.
Deana, my ten month old kitten currently has FIP. The symptoms came on very suddenly about two weeks ago, and ever since it’s be a very heart-breaking progression.Right now she is stable and her quality of life is still good, so I am trying to love on her as much as I can while she is still healthy and doing alright. Waiting has been heart-breaking, and my heart goes out to you for your loss. Watching my kitten go through it has been devastating. I can’t imagine losing three. I’m so sorry for your loss.
I’m not a cat person but that is extremely sad. I have allergies to cats and dogs, but own 2 and don’t care about the allergies. I don’t understand her logic, she gets poisons injected into her face and ass to look ridiculous but won’t get allergy shots? Ok Kim…

I’m allergic to cats. Some cats I can handle where if I pet them and scratch my eye it gets red, but that’s it. Others give me hives and full blow asthma attack. That’s my scale and i can see no symptoms on her. Kim never mentioned she was allergic and she tweets everything! 1st post of Mercy everyone just said… This Bitch… I think it still applies.

Alexandra – I was wondering that myself. Pet breeding can lead to congenital disorders (and, yet, some people pay big money to have a specially bred pet rather than adopt a perfectly healthy shelter pet, but that’s a different can of worms).
What’s really sad, though, is even if the kitten truly was sick through no faults of KK’s, it doesn’t seem that she really got to enjoy her brief time on this earth, and that’s just heartbreaking.
Some breeds are susceptible to certain illnesses. I had a Maine Coon perfectly healthy for 8 yrs then he started leaking urine.. turned out he was in kidney failure. The vet said that breed was prone to kidney failure…. I also suffer with allergies but guess what I still own 3 cats…. they are my fur children and that’s that

I think once she realized the kitty was sickly she gave it away. She was only interested in it as a publicity tool. If she still had Mercy trust me, she would have been photagraphed with her. The novelty wore off and the idea of taking care of a terminally ill cat was not something the famewhore was interested in. I don’t think she was allergic. Liar. I read that the illness Mercy had is because of how she was bred. So sad that there are so many healthy rescues without a home but because they don’t look a certain way they aren’t adopted instead people go to breeders where things like these illness are present. RIP Mercy.
Totally agree. Animals that come from breeders tend to have health problems, and yet people keep buying them because they want to have “purebred” for whatever selfish reason. Please. I will NEVER understand that.
Meanwhile, thousands of healthy, loving animals are put down in shelters. I know this argument has been re-hashed a million times, but I feel strongly about it and it makes me angry.

They have zero feeling for animals just for themselves. Go to any neighborhood in the USA or apartment complex and you will see homeless/stray cats. Like many other commenters on this post (you guys are really making me proud to read this gossip site exclusively), I judge people by how they obtain and treat more helpless species. A lot of people call Kim “harmless” because she’s not a full-blown crackie like Lohan and doesn’t endanger children like LeAnn… but she’s no better. Really hoping she never has children.
She and Kanye have no love in their hearts for anyone but themselves… everyone says they’re a perfect match for that reason, but I honestly can’t believe they even give a crap about each other.

This disgusting family is forever getting pets and giving them away. I remember when whore was with Kris Humphfries she specifically expressed her dislike of animals. So I was very surprised to see her with this kitten. I had to actually roll my eyes. The 2 younger sister must have gotten like 4-5 dogs that I can remember.
She just wanted to be another Karl lagerfeld with a white little kitty, but I guess that didn’t work out.
Her having that kitten for whatever amount of time was publicity, you think that asshole planned to lug around a persian cat that sheds like effin crazy on her black clothes which seems like what she wears the most, and remember how anal she was about her stupid house and material possessions when she first purchased it? @pollo – Agree 100%. A pet is a lifetime committment no matter if you move across the country, have 7 children or whatever. They have feelings too. I despise people who give their pets away. I judge a person by how they treat their pets and whow they obtained their pet, that is something I usually find out really fast in a conversation.

I went to another country to visit my parents who owned a dog. I had never yet met my “mothers dog”. I put that in quotation marks because my mom has never possessed an affectionate bone in her body towards her children, much less animals, never. i don’t think I’ve ever even seen her embrace or kiss a pet, but since i had not seen her in years I thought this was a new side of her and that she perhaps had developed feelings for a dog…. wrong! as soon as i walked in and put my luggage down I asked to see the dog because I was already home-sick and planned on sleeping with it in my guest bed, but when I saw the dog she was emaciated and sick. I looked at my mom in disbelief and said did you know this dog is sick? you have to take it to the vet, you can’t just have a dog here suffering. She said, “nena please I don’t have money for a vet and I’m not going to take a day off from work to take a dog to the hospital, I have enough problems.”
I cannot even begin to describe my disgust and almost hatred for my mother. After babying the dog for a few days, she finally suffered a severe stroke and at that point I said we’re taking her to the hospital whether you like it or not because this is no way for an animal to live, she is suffering. Took the dog, beautiful sweet thing, and they put her down. I bawled my eyes out. I had bonded with this pet so much in less than a week. She became my little girl. I left their house, flew home and didn’t want to speak to my parents and still dont. Moral of the story…If you cannot love a pet unconditionally, or at least try, do not get a pet.
My dog, who I’m not totally 100% in love with because I’m still grieving over my Cat of 17 years, gets treated better than children. Has pet insurance and everything. She gets all the care and affection a dog needs and should get. I can’t tell you how many times I wanted to give me dog away, but I didn’t give up on her, and she sleeps at my side right now as I type this.

I just had to say, bless your heart for your compassion and I’m SO sorry for the loss and ordeal you went through. The love for a pet is instantaneous and infinite.
I just had to say Yes Yes yes! to the idea that she is indeed, cozying up right next to you as you typed those words. I fullheartedly believe that to be SO! why not place a treat out there or cozy pillow for reward?! deserves it. so sweet : )
pollo – thats really sweet and I am sorry to hear about the loss of the dog. I’m the same way with my cat. I’ve had her for 7 years (her mom was a stray cat and had her) so she’s been with us through and through. At this point she’s like family not just a pet. I cannot understand people who neglect their pets. Thankfully, we haven’t had anything major with our cat but if something is wrong, definitely first thing we take her to the family vet.
For me it’s not just the fact that they are animals, they are still souls that you need to protect. If you can’t handle that, then better not get a pet.

Oooh, erika, I like your way of thinking! 🙂 And yes, Persians are higher maintenance than probably even KK herself, which is really saying a LOT. (Our feed store sells a line of food specifically made for Persians.) They also have their own host of health issues/concerns, and if they aren’t groomed on an almost daily basis (for long periods of time), plan on spending $50+ at the groomer.
Ours HATED being brushed, so we ended up going the groomer route or shaved her ourselves. (Girlfriend burned through three sets of clippers before we found a brand that could manage her hair.)
Pets are to be loved and cherished, not used as accessories and then disposed of once the novelty has worn off!
No they are not just pets, like the other poster stated they are little souls that depend on us, these are domesticated animals that need us there to do for them. I foster rescue dogs and had a little maltese for a month. He had skin allergies and bit a kid who teased him. I fixed the skin allergies in a week with raw food. He was adopted by a couple who let him sleep on the bed, buy him clothes for all the seasons and take him to the marina every weekend in the summer to spend with them on their boat. Dog probably thinks to himself “hmmmm, should have bitten that brat sooner!”
Kim K may be a vapid individual, shallow, self centered, whatever. But it is odd to me that the tone of this article is accusatory towards her in the vein of animal cruelty. I do not think that there is any evidence that she was anything but loving to that kitten, and I think it is pretty harsh to imply otherwise. Plenty of kittens take ill quickly and die, especially full bred ones. I can’t believe I’m sticking up for KK but really, accusing someone of animal cruelty with no evidence is a bit much.

No, Kim should NOT have been carting this poor kitten around town. ANYONE who knows anything about animals is fully aware that cats are 100% different than dogs, especially regarding temperament. Puppies who are healthy and who are updated on all of their shots adore being out in public (for the most part). On the other hand, your typical cat is freaked out by being in public places. What happens when you’re constantly freaked out (and, in this case, you are the human equivalent of an infant)? Your immune system weakens and you become ill. This poor kitten never had a chance. Oh, and most cats try to follow their owners out the door on a consistent basis. It’s a well known fact that cats are incredibly curious and are on a lifelong mission to “see what’s on the other side”. Doesn’t mean that they will like or be able to handle what’s on the other side. A doorstep is completely different from being papped on a daily basis. If you really feel so inclined, as any vet…heck you can even google “kitten care” and they will tell you the same thing.

Next thing I know, his brother & sister are in the laundry room, howling and throwing themselves at the door, and I’m thinking “What is THEIR problem? I’m right here, you weirdoes, you can SEE ME!”
A few minutes after I came back in the house, I heard this horrible THUD against the door, and that hairy little dufus was THROWING HIMSELF AT THE DOOR. I opened the door to let him back in, and he ran and hid under the car. It was quite the production, coaxing him back into the house.
So, while they may THINK they want outside, once they get there, they change their minds, real quick!
Based on age it likely didn’t have all shots. You’re supposed to be careful where you take puppies and kittens until they have all vaccines
cstexas cats aren’t like dogs at all. They have very strong territorial boundaries and don’t like being dragged outside of those boundaries against their will. I’m not sure how long you’ve been a cat owner but that’s like Cat101.

She had the cat for like a month and a half before she gave it away right? Once I had a friend with a cat who’d shed a lot, I didn’t realize she was what was making my eyes swell half shut for a month. I’d discounted it because I’d had cats literally since birth, but after not having one for a few years the allergy (re?)developed in a big way. I’m just saying it’s possible she didn’t know what she was allergic to. I feel for that poor little kitty in kitty heaven, I’m just glad for the last couple weeks, someone who loved cats, not publicity, took care of her and loved her
So glad you posted this. I can pick on Kim for a lot but not for this. It is very possible that Kim had an allergy, even if mild, but why are we hating on her because she preferred to not deal with an allergy and give the cat away to keeping the cat and any symptoms that followed? She didn’t HAVE to have a cat. How does having AN ANIMAL take precedence over one’s health?!

Eh, the abortion part is a little bit of a straw man argument to me but I see where you are coming from on the whole. I remember weeks ago an article about Chris Pratt and the comments section went crazy to attack him because he got rid of Anna Farris’ cat when she was pregnant because the cat was incontinent and they felt that was unhealthy for Anna. I think jokingly he put on Twitter that he was looking for a home for the cat and apparently he is unpopular because of that. I love my cat and dog but I do agree that if an animal poses a risk to you or a family member’s health, it is not cruel to find them another home. That’s how I got my cat, she was at a shelter because the previous owners discovered their daughter was allergic. Now that being said, I think Kim is full of crap and she was using that poor kitten as an accessory and didn’t feel like wasting her time with a sick cat.
I think the problem ppl are having is that she didn’t even give the allergy shots a try, implying that there’s a question of their safety, even though she’s had god knows what injected into her body. She basically said I would have done anything to keep her except what might have been the most viable option. It seems disingenuous.

While KK is a vapid famewhore, at least she gave the kitty to someone who could properly care for her. Sounds like she got FIP (feline infectious peritonitis) in its effusive form which is pretty much a death sentence. Certain viruses, like FeLV (feline leukemia virus) can predispose cats to getting FIP (a coronavirus) so if the kitty wasn’t properly vaccinated and taken care of, her immune system was vulnerable to other disease processes/infections. Major bummer, she was so adorable 🙁
Yes and the stress from being rehomed could have brought on the FIP mutation. It happens sometimes when rescue groups find a forever home for one of its foster kittens. Also, some breeds are genetically predisposed to FIP. Don’t know if this breed is or not. I still hate Kim, though, carting around that poor kitten.
First of all I don’t know if Kim was allergic or not, but I can’t imagine her living with cat hair and litter boxes. She couldn’t even stand to have ex Kris’s clothing at her home.
I wonder if the kitten was sick from the beginning. It is unusual for a cat to allow itself to be hauled around like that, but if it wasn’t feeling well it might not have had the energy to do anything about it.
I also wonder if it was a kitten mill kitty. There’s no such thing as a miniature persian. It one of those breeds kitten millers produce to try to get a lot of money for a mixed breed cat. It appeals to ignorant people that want a status symbol.

I’ve read other reports of this kitten’s death, where it is described as a “stomach virus” – which sounds suspiciously like panleukopenia. Idiot Kardashian probably didn’t have Mercy adequately vaccinated, and considering how this poor kitten was carted all over the place and exposed to all sorts of diseases, this is likely what she had. She or her idiot publicist probably looked a the word “panleukopenia” and since it’s somewhat similar to “leukemia” decided that’s how they would describe it. There is a disease called feline leukemia, but Mercy’s symptoms and the timeline don’t fit with that illness.
This numbskull can’t even commit to a pet – how in God’s name would she care for a child?
And please, if you want a pet, don’t spend thousands on a “vanity” purebred – go to the shelter and save a life!

Sounds to me like FIP–Feline Infectious Peritonitis. This kills young cats and kittens–and sometimes older cats with compromised immune systems. It is a mutation–vets think–of a common virus that many cats are exposed to that does not affect them, but in certain cats, it transforms into this lethal virus. It has two forms–wet and dry. The wet form comes on suddenly and is is quickly fatal. There is no treatment. My 3 year old cat had the dry form, which is still lethal but not as quickly. My boy was diagnosed in August and died in September of this year. It is a heartbreaking, terribly sad thing no matter who owns the animal. I hate Kim, but this isn’t her fault, and it is cruel to blame her.

There’s something I don’t understand. Fame whore Kim tweets about everything, how didn’t she mention she had to give Mercy away because she discovered being allergic? Had this cat not died I don’t think we would know she had given her away. Poor kiiten, RIP Mercy.

Really? There is ZERO evidence that she abused this cat. Pure breds get sick all of time and have to be put down. My allergies did not develop for years and one day boom. Scratch test later, I react to cats the most and I still have my cat of seventeen years, but chose to put up with it. I get you don’t care for KK, but don’t try to diagnose conditions or make gross accusatory claims. I would be more inclined to believe she did something to the cat if she said Mercy ran away or something.

Her stomach had filled with fluid and the doctor said she had a rare stomach cancer and that there was nothing we could do for her. Poor little Percy died the very next day. It broke not only my heart that little Percy died at only four months old, but Sydney’s too.
Percy was a gentle and loving baby and we are all going to miss her so much. Thanks to Sydney for making Percy’s short life one filled with love. RIP Percy Xo

I highly doubt her version of events for the following reasons:
– Anyone who has “never been around” a particular species in their life should have the common sense to head to a shelter or vet’s office (ours does adoptions & allows potential parents multiple contact visits provided the animals are healthy) MORE THAN ONCE and spend some time with said species in an effort to find out if one is allergic. (I’m not saying that’s a sure-fire method, as some allergies develop over time, but she’s a self-centered asshole who likely didn’t put any thought into it other than publicity & pap pix.)
– How could anyone with that much Botox, fillers, implants, etc…say, with a straight (frozen) face, that allergy shots weren’t determined to be a safe option? (It’s not like she doesn’t have the money, time, and access to someone who would certainly have come to her. Did she even get tested?)
– She dragged that poor cat around everywhere she went for the first 6 weeks she had her, and when the novelty (read: publicity) wore off, she handed her off to her sister’s assistant. BITCH.
– Once said assistant realised Mercy was sick, I’m certain she tried to have her treated as best as possible. But ASSISTANTS of Kartrashians don’t make the same money as the actual fame-whoring Kartrashians, you know? (The assistant sounds like a TRUE animal lover, and I’m sure this broke her heart, having just lost a cat after 17 years together.)
– Once poor little Mercy died, she suddenly became Lardassian’s again? That’s not how it works, Trash!! When you give another being (pet or child) away, it’s no longer YOURS. You don’t get to pimp out a dead kitten that you gave away due to “allergies” for more publicity.
Oh, and did I mention she’s a known liar? i.e. She just wants her “divorce to be over and move on,” but won’t return the ring or give her deposition; she wants a “small, intimate wedding” next time around, but now she wants to get married in a castle in England. (Do I need to go on?)

Kim Kardashian: Kitten Killer
I don’t believe for a second she had cancer. Killer Kim. She disgusts me. My thought? I am allergic to this cat so I’ll euthanize it. Seriously, there are no words. Anyone who hurts animals is evil.
I believe early cancer in pets (my mom has had 6 “designer dogs” die of cancer way too soon) is most common in purebred breeds. It’s distressing and really sad. Although she has adopted all of these dogs from rescue sites, the message apparently is clear: adopt a mixed breed- you’ll most likely not have to deal with crazy cancers that come on fast and strong.
To illustrate your point:
My sweet, wonderful, lovely domestic long-hair (a rescue) died after a short struggle with a quick-onset illness at 20 years-old; my sweet, persnickety, cute-as-a-button Persian (a gift) is a little over 11 years-old, and she is LITERALLY starving. Even the vets don’t know what’s wrong.
My mom’s Persians (she had two, but they aren’t from the same litters as mine or one another) are slightly bat-shit crazy, and she had to put one of them to sleep at only 5 or 6 years old due to a significant health problem. It was awful. And now she’s worried about the older one.
And in another side to the story, my beloved Tabby cat (who adopted me!), just had to be put down, because he had kidney failure- he was only about 13 years old. I felt it was far too soon, I had expected more time with him as he had been a pretty healthy cat all his life. We’re still devastated about it.
Oh, Camille, I’m sorry. What is it with kidney-failure? That’s the same thing my 20-year-old grande dame developed (with an alarming quickness – one day she was fine; the next day sick; the next day [soon as I could get her into the vet], she was dying and I had to put her to sleep to spare her any further pain.) It was AWFUL.
But the day we realised she was sick, we held and cuddled her and told her how much we loved her.
Are you syringe feeding? Sometimes that gets past whatever is keeping them from eating, with cats it can take very little to put them off their feed. I just fill up a 3mL oral syringe, put cat on table, minimal restraint (hand on shoulder), and just set the syringe at the side of their mouth until they open a little and shoot some in toward the other side. The best stuff is Wysong PDG – really easy to mix up to get max calories into the critter. My cats have been pretty cooperative with syringe feeding this way until they’re really ready to pack it in (generally their last day). The trick is to figure out how much they can handle per shot and how they want it aimed. I always stop when they get fidgety.
I’ll never forget how she treated Kris Humphries dogs on her show, and how she said she wasn’t an animal person. Maybe Kanye missed that episode. Poor kitty!
She’s a piece of garbage. Poor kitty. Also, I agree, forget the “teacup” breeds. Just get a cat from the shelter, they’re healthier and just as fabulous. (Of course shelter dogs are awesome too, needless to say.)

I’ll be honest my first reaction was to blame and be angry at Kim, but the more I read on the subject the more I believed the kitten genuinely had a health issue.
It’s horrible. I don’t think blaming Kim does anything. Yes she’s made more than a million mistakes but I don’t believe she was abusing this kitten or did anything to intentionally deteriorate it’s health. Frankly, I don’t want to hear it unless there’s proof. I want to distance Kim hate from the very real and sad occurrence of this kitten dying.
I love animals and I’m struggling right now because there’s a stray kitten that sleeps on my porch who runs at the first sign of people but comes back every night. I leave out food and blankets but it hurts because it’s just so cold at night.
I think Kim Kardashian is selfish, uninformed, shallow and ignorant. I wouldn’t doubt for a second she didn’t think to figure out if she was emotionally, mentally, or physically capable of having a cat before she adopted Mercy. But I do believe she gave the cat away quietly once she realized she did. The fact the kitten passed away…likely due to it’s breeding than anything she did. It just sucks.

If she learns something that would be great. Not sure if she will. I do think there are some very spot on comments here. Toting the cat all over = not so great and buying from a breeder = sometimes these cats are more susceptible (esp if engineered… forget the term) as you also wrote.
It is true she realized it wasn’t for her and found a better home but the cat was just so young to die…
That being said, thanks for looking out for your ‘stray’ friend! Sometimes just food and care help (there are also outdoor cat shelters you can make or buy).

I have the same thing going on. I made a little heated house for it and you can do the same. This is how I did it (though you can use any materials):
I turned a recycling bin upside down and cut a little door/hole in either end with a serrated knife. I drilled a hole in the ceiling and then used a cable tie (zip tie. or anything will do) and hung a light bulb (one of those work ones with the plastic basket around the bulb, that construction people use) for heat, and ran the cord + extension cord under the door and into my house.
I put a comforter on the floor and used duct tape to attach strips of heavy plastic at each “door” to keep drafts out. Then I wrapped plastic around my deck, also to keep the wind out. I started with a 40 watt bc it wasn’t too cold and switched to a 75 watt now that it is colder. it took a few nights but the cat goes in to sleep and he/she is warm and safe!

We saw on that idiotic show that she HATES animals, she wouldn’t let her husband’s dogs be around them either. I read somewhere this cute little kitten was just a prop that Pimp Mama came up with to make Kim seem more likable. Massive FAIL. She carted that terrified little kitten all around, but look at the body language, she didn’t want it anywhere near her. I couldn’t stand Kim before but now I absolutely loathe her. She only loves herself.

Poor cat. It sounds like KK thought of Mercy as a living toy, realized that taking care of a pet would involve more work than she wanted to do and gave Mercy up. To be fair, I’m glad that she gave Mercy up to someone who would properly care for her. At the same time, though, it’s infuriating to see her treat the cat like a handbag – animals are not things to be tossed in a bag and dragged around to show off.
I have mild allergies to cats. Saying that I have had cats all my life. My two brother cats were 17 and 23 when they died. I now have a fairly large, fluffy, adorable Maine Coon (15 lb.)who is a rescue and the “King” of the house. She does not deserve any animal. Saying the cat had cancer makes me think it had feline leukemia which can be horrendous. They also make a vaccine to prevent it.
As much as I don’t care for Kim Kardashian, I’m sorry about the loss of her kitten. It’s always hard when a pet dies/has to be euthanized.

I find it odd she didn’t want shots yet will shoot fillers 24/7. Also if your allergy is SO severe you need shots, you can’t be carting a cat around for photo ops like she did. I know because my cat allergies are severe and to visit my cat owner sister requires a lot of medical prep. She hates animals because they’re not clean pristine things, and they require lots of selfless time and love. I treat my dog better than she will ever treat a child.
I normally like Kim (don’t kill me!), but this really makes me mad. I have two rescue Persians, they are my sweet babies. I am allergic to them- some days i want to pop my eyes out of my head because they itch so bad!– but they aren’t going ANYWHERE. This story makes me sadder (and angrier) than it probably normally would because I just had to put down my utterly beloved cat of 13 years because he had stage 4 kidney failure :(.
Honestly this family make me ill at the best of times, but this story, that poor kitty! I don’t believe a word of what Katface says (re: allergies etc. I’m too annoyed by this story to post anything deeper on it), even she has admitted to being a compulsive liar. Disgusting individual.
I’m sorry for the loss of your kitty cat. My last cat, Tiffy, had kidney failure, but I was lucky enough to have her for 19 years. Most of them eventually get kidney failure, it seems like.
I hope you will soon open your heart to another kitty, or two. It’s so hard to lose them, but it’s wonderful to keep the love going with a new animal.
Okay, I’m not saying that this isn’t a lie, but MY cat was diagnosed with stomach cancer. Within a matter of 2-3 days from the diagnosis, she lost control of her bowels and had to be put down. So when people automatically scream LIE about stuff like this… it’s just frustrating.
Whatever the case, the poor kitten had to be put down and it’s very sad.
I was so sad when I saw this. I dislike Kim as much as everyone else, but the fact is, kitties are vulnerable when so little and these diseases can come on fast. It also seems to be that breeder cats have a lot of health problems. So, RIP Mercy.
And Kim, with all else you put in your body, it’s laughable you would find allergy relief injections unsafe.
First, last season or the season before that (pre Kris) she got a dog and within a month or less gave it away! Then when Kris had dogs she LOATHED them and did’t want them sleeping in the bedroom.You never saw those dogs again (I assume they are in Minnesota with his family). She ruined that good relationship she could have had with Kris by being a self-involved child. She OBVIOUSLY gave this cat away too. She has OCD and is a neat freak, she probably couldn’t stand a litterbox! She makes me sick. No one should treat animals like disposable shoes/clothes. I hope Kanye dumps her miserable ass.
Thats what i thought, i knew i had heard at some point she had a dog. Was that the same dog she and Reggie had together that she allegedly sent to live with her mom because she was traveling SO much and just didnt have the time for it!?!? I really hope that Kim does herself and everyone else a favor and does not try to conceive a child. Dropping kids with the help or your mom when you just dont want to deal with them anymore is not looked favorably upon.

Spare me. First of all, Kim seeks public attention every day. She puts herself out there, inviting criticism. Second, it’s completely understandable for many of us to assume she’s lying again when she has a long HISTORY of lying (for example, the last part of bellaluna’s post at #35). Kim will say one thing and later say or do something that completely contradicts what she previously said. You only have credibility when your actions MATCH your words.
She releases warm and fuzzy statements for PR and puts on an act whenever cameras are around. Did you forget her PR stunt last year, feeding the homeless for Thanksgiving at the Los Angeles Mission? It was pure damage control after her sham of a marriage ended. Celebrites like Jennifer Love Hewitt have QUIETLY volunteered at that particular charity for years. Did Kim show up again this year to help out? Of course not.
Careless of the fragile health of a kitten, Kim dragged Mercy everywhere as a prop for her regular photo ops. Maybe poor Mercy was already predisposed to the disease that took her life, but Kim did nothing responsible to protect her. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kim didn’t get Mercy the proper vaccinations.

I’m breaking my ban on the KK trash this one time in honor of sweet little Mercy who never stood a chance. We all knew KK would end up killing this cat, didn’t we? Bitch has NO business with a pet. And I don’t believe one word that is coming from her plastic, botoxed face now. Allergic huh? How does that work exactly? She became allergic AFTER she dragged that poor kitten out for numerous photo ops? And by the way KK, you do not haul cats around like they were a new purse – what you did caused that kitten a great deal of stress. And as for this stomach virus/cancer nonsense? I don’t buy it for a second. More likely that KK let the cat eat crap people food which, in turn, destroyed its digestive tract. You feed a cat people food, they develop people diseases. I do believe the part about her fobbing the kitten off on some peon but I doubt she really gave her the cat – more of a “here, look after this thing, I can’t be bothered” scenario. And now that the kitten is dead, she claims to be SO sad. Uh huh. Lying, stupid, selfish bitch. I didn’t think I could dislike and disrespect her more than I already did but I was wrong.

Kittens are not wardrobe accessories. Cats need to be in one place, without traffic noise and dozens of other people around. It WAS animal abuse, to treat the kitten the way she treated it for those few short days she had it. Poor little furbaby.
Cats can be a lot more flexible than that. There was a guy I saw on the subway a lot who always brought his cat. It had its own little harness and leash, he’d stick it on the seat next to him and it knew how to brace for stops. It didn’t look thrilled to be on the subway, but it looked very healthy and it was very friendly. Lots of people in New York City tote their cats around in backpacks, like babies or small dogs. While there are sensitive fraidy cats, many cats like to see the world. One of my own cats adores visitors, and meows at everyone who goes by our window. The one thing she doesn’t like is loud music.
Toting around a cat (or dog or kid or gerbil or snake) for photo ops is disgusting, but there’s a balance, and all cats have different temperaments.
yes, this is what i was trying to say above about how just because YOUR cat or even most cats isn’t cool with being out in public, that doesn’t mean all cats aren’t. believe it or not, there are cats that live their whole lives outside without any humans pampering them, lol…
i’m not saying it was super awesome of her to carry the cat around, but all the intense cat rights people are making a pretty big jump to assume that carrying a cat around means that she somehow killed the cat and/or doesn’t care about the cat. have you guys seriously never met someone who got a pet and then realized they didn’t want it or were more allergic to it than they thought? this happens to NORMAL people, even if it’s not the nicest thing to do. plus wasn’t this a gift from Kanye anyway? maybe she didn’t want to be rude and tried to stick it out but her allergies got too bad. she may be an attention whore, but it gets annoying to read constant hate on kim (who has her flaws) and constant love and adoration for people like, JUST FOR EXAMPLE, brad and angelina (who also have flaws/acted just as badly in their own way).

Emily and cstexas, I don’t think people are necessarily upset that the cat was carried outside, but the *way* it was carried outside. No harness or leash like the gentleman on the subway had for his cat (you’ve told this story before, haven’t you Emily? I know I’ve read it because I remember being delighted that the cat braced itself for stops), and not held even in the proper way to hold a cat (cuddled against your body with its feet supported). She’s holding it like a purse in most of the pictures, and in one I remember she was actually holding the cat out away from her with her hands in its armpits and its poor legs dangling. That is what bothered me…it just screamed ‘I don’t care about this thing!’

It does sound like it could have been FIP. That is not at all a cancer,but one form of it is quick in coming and is always fatal.I can believe that the kitten actually did have a disease, and that is likely not Kim’s fault, but this situation still sucks. These idiot celebs want to buy these purebreds so they can have a pet match their outfits, when so many pets die in shelters daily due to overpopulation. She is an asshole and should ever get another pet again.

Very strange story. I have a cat and guess what? Im highly allergic to cats. Yep, its called love. Even though Im allergice ill put up with the slight irritation because I love animals and my cat. My allergist told me to get rid of her too but shes 15 now and she aint going nowhere. This chick is pure sshhiitt. Thru and thru.
Poor Mercy. I doubt it was Kim Kardashian’s fault the kitten had this horrible illness, though, and Kim did do the right thing by finding someone who would care for her when she couldn’t (for whatever reason). I’ve known horrible people who simply dump pets they don’t want out in the country somewhere.
I have a friend who likes cats in theory, but cannot breathe around any cat hair. She’s been hospitalized from the allergy. She can’t go to houses where there are cats, and she has real problems even being around people who own cats, because try as you might, you’re gonna have some cat hair on your clothes at least sometimes. I don’t see how Kim could care for any pet at all, since she’s traveling all the time, but even if she wasn’t at the level of “if I am around cats I will die”, like my friend is, I can understand not wanting to constantly feel like you have a low-level cold.
Of course we all know she got the kitten for famewhore purposes. I can’t stand Kim, but I don’t think she’s actually evil. She’s not Lindsay Lohan or Eddie Cibrian. She did the right thing in giving the kitten to someone who could care for it, and it wasn’t her fault that it died.
That kitten didnt die. she probably was to busy to take care of it and gave it away. not wanting the press to question her about where the kitten was, she just lied and said it died.
If it did die, it probably die of starvation, Kim forgot all about that poor cat.
Darling I’m violently allergic to cats, too, but with anti-histamines even I could pause for a photo op. And also, being around a cat helps build a little immunity, although that quickly stops the minute you stop hanging out with the cat. My roommate surprised me with a cat pet which would always sneak into my bed so I’d wake up with her little mug in my face so I’d know.

Silly question – why would SHE have to take care of the cat? I can’t have pets in my place so I have never taken care of one on my own but when I was a small kid, I had a cat and my mom fed it. I mean little like 3. Cory was an indoor/outdoor cat so we didn’t have a litter box to deal with once he was an adult. When I was older, I fed him too but until I was about 7 all I did was play with him.
Yes, I realize I am comparing Kim to a pre-schooler but she can pay someone to clean the litter box and feed the cat. I really don’t get it.

Kim just got the cat for PR and for a new twist to her pap shot’s. Seeing her walk around with it showed what a bad pet owner she was. It seems she gave away Mercy not long after I don’t believe that a woman of her age didn’t already know she had cat allergies. Hopefully Mercy got some real love and care which Kim is unable to give to anyone but herself it seems. This woman should not have kids if she can’t cope with a kitten she won’t cope with a baby. But then she will probably hire nannies they will raise the baby and Kim will just carry it around for the press. Bet she get’s a dog next.

I feel terrible for the kitten but to say she can’t care for a baby just because she couldn’t care for a pet is a bit of a stretch. There are plenty of people who make great parents yet awful pet owners. It’s a totally different level of responsibility. Anyway, I do agree that Kim is probably not a pet person. Considering she has eczema, she probably has dander allergies too. This is why pets make terrible “surprise” gifts. I blame Kanye for this…giving a live animal to a woman who is supposed to be the busiest woman in Hollywood, when would she have found the time to care for a pet properly?

Whoa, now I love bashing online here at Celebitchy, but this is a bit much. There is nothing more delicate than an inbred, smush face Persian kitty. To assume it expired as a result of neglect is a bit much.
She found out she had a cat allergy in her 30’s?! Bullshit. She’s done photo shoots with cats before and seemed fine. My guess is that she realised kittens are not a cute accessory but need a lot of love, care and attention so she gave it away. Also, it pretty funny that she thinks allergy shots aren’t safe – God knows how many toxins Kim is injected with!
In the first photo, she seems to be strangling the crap out of that sweet kitten and the kitten is thinking, …..if I could just touch the ground and start running….!

One puzzlement- if Mercy was only 4 months old when she died – why would she have needed a groomer? Takes more than four months for kittens to start shedding hair. They would still shed dander (and I believe her allergy story is true, thankfully she won’t get another cat…), but my experience has been that I don’t start finding loose hairs until they’re much older. But one of those photo ops was Kim dragging poor Mercy to a groomer. Maybe for flea treatment?
I don’t like coming to this bitch’s defense but I grew up with two cats. I was never allergic growing up. However, now I am.
If I go to my parents or any place with cats I have a crazy bad reaction, and while I can take something for the allergy it is only a temporary relief.
So I can understand how someone might not have realized they were allergic because here I am, a person who grew up with two cats, unable to stand being in a house with one or even two cats now.
Also, I always found dog allergies ‘weird’ like how can people be allergic? I was never allergic. However, I did get a Jack Russel Terrier puppy last year and anytime I have too much exposure to me or she licks me, I break out into a rash.
I am not giving her away but obviously I didn’t realize I was so sensitive to pets. It happens.

I predicted this kitten would be dead when these photos first came out and I was right, you don’t carry a cat especially kitten around like a rag doll, its too stressfully for adult cats, and cats are ,often transported with blankets over carriers to reduce stress. Don’t believe this kitten died from a virus, neither do I believe she ever gave the cat away. The cat died from some type of unfortunate accident from lack of basic care. What else can you expect from this fur wearing hag

I agree with everyone and this just makes me sicker of this shallow, money driven, fame chasing shell of a person;just the fact she was carrying a few week old kitten around like a handbag (and clearly before it had its shots, never mind shouldn’t have been weaned, proves to me it was all about more and optimal publicity!
Second, I am an RN in an allergy practice and I can ASSURE everyone if Kim had an allergy so bad it would have required desensitization shots, she would NEVER have been able to do all those photos as after the first or second time she would have have become sensitized and been very reactive….what does this mean? Exactly…more lies and damage control!!
BUT….the most ironic and laughable? Her comment about injections being “unwise” just to keep her “so loved” kitten….considering the oh so essential Botox (and whatever else she might have had)….but we know about the Botox…that she obviously had no problem with as it was cosmetic!!!
A little perspective, please! A kitten died, so sad, shame, etc., etc. People die horribly every second of every day – I’d like to see the super-shallow KK donate some of her time and money to that.
