I know that Gemma Arterton isn’t particularly well known, but I find this story interesting as I remember covering her wedding. Arterton, 27, shot to fame as a Bond girl in Quantum of Solace and she’s currently co-starring that that terrible-looking fantasy action movie with Jeremy Renner, Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters. (Checking the box office, it didn’t do that well domestically but will more than recover its budget with worldwide ticket sales, so it wasn’t a flop or anything.)
Anyway lovely Gemma married an Italian stunt man named Stefano Catelli, 39, in the summer of 2010. It was kind of a fairy-tale romance in that Catelli played Daniel Craig’s body double in Quantum of Solace, and the two went on to marry in a “secret” ceremony at the ruins of a castle in Andalusia. The photos were just gorgeous and I’m including some of them here. Sadly, it didn’t last for these two! After a little over two years they’re getting a divorce.
Gemma Arterton is back on the market.
The actress is said to be “devastated” after her two-year marriage to Stefano Catelli came to an end.
“It’s sad, but her marriage is over,” she said.
“Gemma thought Stefano was the one. He really wore the trousers in the relationship, such was her devotion to him. It happened a couple of months ago. It was a mutual decision.
“Gemma’s gorgeous and there are scores of men who will be begging her for a date. But she’s in no rush to move on.”
Over the weekend, Gemma has been spending time with her friend Bradley Cooper, 38, as her pal was keen to cheer her up.
They enjoyed an evening at London’s Rose club after a party on Friday, and spent Saturday at a pre-BAFTA party at the city’s nightspot Annabel’s.
“Brad and Gemma have become firm friends and, as she’s feeling down at the moment, he wanted to show her a good time while he’s in London,” a source said.
“After hanging out at Harvey Weinstein’s Silver Linings bash at Little House Restaurant they decided to share a car to Rose, where they spent a few hours partying together at a table.”
No! I don’t want Gemma to get with stupid greasy Bradley Cooper. He is a dud of a sex symbol. Kaiser wants her to hook up with Jeremy Renner, they would be hot together. She’s so gorgeous she would be hot with anyone basically.
As for Gemma’s divorce, she got married relatively young for a celebrity, and she was just at the beginning of her career. Now she’s earning leading roles and there was probably too much stress, and temptation on both sides, for her marriage to last. They also come from different cultures, which may have complicated things. At least she didn’t have any kids with this guy who would be affected by a divorce.

Yep. I always worry that I’m not married yet- I’m 29 – but when I see girls like her who are younger than me and divorced I’m thankful. Still sorry for her though.

They were a good looking couple. I’ve never heard of her, that I can remember. It’s always a shame when a relationship ends. Hopefully they’ll both find happiness elsewhere and remain on good terms.

Sad news. The story about when her and her husband first met is so cute (she wrote in her diary the same night that she was going to marry him and gave the page to him two weeks later) but maybe it wasn’t meant to be.

She seems like a sweet and kind person who isn’t really part of the Hollyweird crowd. She’s really gorgeous but in a natural way without the tweaking and extreme dieting. I like her. She still lives a low-key life in England and although I don’t see her becoming A-list anytime soon, she is slowly building up her career and getting more exposure in America.
That second to last pic says it all. They do not look happy in that pic from Sept. 2012. Her ex is handsome but appears a bit shallow/metro in these pics. I think she can do better but I’m sure she’s heartbroken. I can’t see her with Jeremy Renner. I think she should end up with someone wholesome like a John Krasinski type.

She’s only in it for about two minutes, but they are two extremely adorable minutes.
Actually she’s been in high demand since QofS. Since 2010 she’s had roles in six films and two shorts. She’s attached to six more projects in pre-production. Makes you wonder of the issue isn’t stress caused by her not being around much and the old career/family conflict.
She played the woman from the British Consulate who is sent to put Bond back on the plane to London after he arrives in South America. She gets killed off by the villian by being drowned in oil and left on Bond’s bed in his hotel room. Ring any bells?
Her soon to be ex husband is not a stunt man, that stunt man guy was her ex — before this relationship. Stefano works in fashion with one of those major houses etc. I’ve been a Gemma fan for a while; I love it when she hardly wears any makeup — naturally sooo beautiful.

The cynic in me believes she already has a jump off. It that how the game is played, you announce your divorce and you show off your new piece to let people know you ate alright.
A friend I studied abroad with also married a handsome Italian. Turned out, he seemed to be confused with the concept of fidelity. I guess it was a cultural issue. They were divorced after a year and a half of marriage.
