Gwyneth Paltrow: ‘I’m less threatening now that I’m 40 & not 26-with-an-Oscar’

Gwyneth Paltrow covers the April issue of Self Magazine and there are literally only four sentences of the interview released at this point. Four little sentences and that was enough to enrage me. I guess I should be thankful that Gwyneth isn’t talking about her stupid cookbook, although I’m sure she did talk about in the interview and we just haven’t gotten those excerpts yet. I guess I should be thankful that Gwyneth isn’t condescending to the peasants about how much peasanty food we eat, allowing all of us to bask in the glory of her supreme wisdom, the wisdom that has given her early-onset osteoporosis, anemia and severe vitamin deficiency. Instead, Goop deigns to tell us that we are less threatened by her now because she’s older. She was just TOO PERFECT when she was younger and she wants us to know that she knows we were incredibly threatened. I wish I was joking.

Goop on turning 40 years old: ‘I feel a sisterhood emerging around me. I’m less threatening now that I’m 40 and not 26-with-an-Oscar.’

On her girlfriends: ‘They know I’ve been through a lot of pain and suffering – some public, some private – and I keep going. Or maybe it’s just that I was the first one who could afford therapy!’

Beyonce on Gwyneth’s friendship: ‘She is incredible. She’s a great friend on every level. I think for us, protecting our daughters is so important and … keeping things on our own terms, so I will still be protective and make sure [Blue Ivy] has a childhood and a great time.’

[From The Mail]

I love Gwyneth’s version of “I keep going” – like she’s some brave peasant struggling to find affordable housing and quality food and education for her children on a minimum wage. She was born rich and privileged, she got a Hollywood career out of nepotism, she won an Oscar by stealing her best friend’s script and she’s been coasting on her early fame for the past decade because, as she told Courtney Love, “Once you’re A-list, you’re always A-list.” The worst thing that’s ever happened to Gwyneth is her father’s death, and while I don’t doubt that her father’s passing was devastating, she has been playing that “I’m grieving!” card in the press for the past decade. And again, everything is always all about Gwyneth, and not only that, it’s about her image, how she’s perceived – it’s not about how aging has changed her perspective and made her a better, more compassionate person. Her quote about aging is that other people perceive her differently because she seems less perfect, because all Gwyneth thinks about it is herself and what other people think of her (image).

    My subscription to that magazine expired just in time.

    • V4Real says:

      LMAO!
      How is it she’s not paying for friendship like Justin Timberlake

    • mimi says:

      My cousin worked for the new york publishing company that put out Gwennies last cookbook and my cousin reports that GP was a raving bitch. Yelling at people, demanding and just as big of a bitch as she seems. Treating all the people like she was royalty!

    • ZigZagZoey says:

      If it did not say that was her, I would NEVER have known that was Gwyneth Paltrow.
      It doesn’t look like her at all.

  2. Ellie66 says:

    Damn she is annoying! A snobby chick who needs to loosen up and eat a freakin hamburger!

    • Julianne says:

      Exactly. All I wanna say is – Bitch please! You are 40 years old hasbeen. You had your peak when you were 26. So STFU. You are still around only because your stupid Goop gimmicks.

      • erika says:

        is it just me or is she on every magazine out there? she recycles the same garble OVER and over….does this woman ever laugh?

        Me theory is the more a woman shoots her mouth off about how healthy she is, how great her marriage/happy kids, her friends are her rock, how humble, in great shape, etc., the MORE, like triple more all those aspects of their life SUCK.

        Speaking of Shakespeare “Methinks the Lady doth protest too much…”

        ps…her mom did a commercial promoting some osteoporosis drug. huh. interesting…

      • Miss Jupitero says:

        Threatening? Bitch please. This is Samantha Brick style logic. Anytime women complain about how other women hate them, take it as a sign that they are the ones who hate other women.

      • Marie Antoinette Jr. says:

        @ erika, Exactly! Happy people don’t constantly have to talk about how happy they are; and content people aren’t *threatened* to admit their lives aren’t perfect.
        She’s 100% fake.

    • Ellie66 says:

      As much as she nauseates me I do like that little green dress very cute. 🙂

    • Clare says:

      the dress is to die for…that’s all I got.

      • Ramona Q. says:

        Yes, but the dress is too young for her. She looks like a 40-year-old cheerleader.

  3. Eve says:

    And then there are those who don’t want us to use the word “insufferable” around here anymore.

    How are we not supposed to use INSUFFERABLE when said word is Gwyneth Paltrow in a nutshell?

    • EscapedConvent says:

      Goop needs a word all her own. I nominate “delusional” although that, too, is overused. I overuse it!

      So great is her pretension that she thinks she was less likeable (“threatening”) because she “was 26 with an Oscar”?! Hysterical.

      I think it’s time to wire her mouth shut for awhile. She doesn’t use it for eating, anyway, & it would give her husband & kids a nice, peaceful vacation.

      She really has no idea!

      • Garvels says:

        I wonder if Jennifer Lawrence who won the best actress Oscar at 22 years of age experiences the same dilemmas as dear sweet Gwenyth?

      • Meredith says:

        This reminds me of a TV series from the movie “Working Girl”. The secretary throws a birthday party for her evil queen boss and no one comes. The boss complains no one came because the secretary did everything wrong – bad time, bad location, etc. The secretary says no, that’s not why no one came, no one came because “you (the evil queen boss) are a bitch”.
        So no, Gwyneth, people weren’t intimidated by you, then or now. They just think you’re a bitch and that’s why they stay away from you. And I’m writing this as a person who loves to go to Goop’s website.

    • Marty says:

      I just….her comment on therapy? She was the “first” to afford it? What the hell does that even mean, who talks like that?! Insufferable is the PERFECT word to describe her!

      • EscapedConvent says:

        That therapy comment irked the hell out of me! No one but a pretentious stuck-up-her-own-ass snot would say such a thing. She has to remind everyone that she could afford therapy, & they couldn’t, I guess.

        What stands out to me is that she’s the most obnoxious when she thinks she’s being self-deprecating!

      • RHONYC says:

        “Or maybe it’s just that I was the first one who could afford therapy!”

        ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
        to steal Brandi Glanville’s line:
        “GO F*CK YOURSELF!!!* 👿
    • Reece says:
      Maybe the word Paltrow should be redefined to insufferable. Instead of saying she is “insufferable” say she’s “Paltrow”. 😉
      • Meredith says:
        How about we go all Star Wars on it and say “The Paltrow is strong in this one” when someone is insufferable like Goop.
    • Sugar says:
      We can change it to gwynsufferable.
      I really despise her headiness and it makes me sad that Blythe who I always adored is the mom to this gwynsufferable women.
    • Liberty says:
      How about this:
      A nonthreatening primafforda fantaroyal sufferastick.
    • WendyNerd says:
      I nominate “GOOPERFUL” to be the word for Gwyneth Paltrow.
  4. chloe says:
    honestly, i’ve never found her attractive…
    maybe it’s just me…
    • Lemony says:
      It’s not just you. I don’t get it either. Her mother, on the other hand, I think is beautiful & a good actress.
      • RocketMerry says:
        YES!! Blythe Danner is/was drop-dead-gorgeous; delicate and elegant yet cheeky, beautiful but approachable and fun… AND she was Will Truman’s mother. Big plus 🙂
        That woman is a treasure. How did Gwyneth turn out such a sad, insecure, hortorexic, unhappy control-freak?! I truly worry about Gwyneth.
      • MsGoblin says:
        Agreed. I’m a HUGE Blythe Danner fan.
        What is “hortorexic”? I googled the word and nothing, other than this CB entry, was found.
      • RocketMerry says:
        Sorry, it’s actually “orthorexic” 🙂
        I always get the English y,x and h all wrong.
    • Toot says:
      It’s not just you.
      She is just another dyed blonde with good PR who we’ve been told is beautiful. I’ve never agreed with that.
    • Itsa Reallyme says:
      I’ve always found her to be very plain. Almost invisible. She seems to just fade into the background, you know? Nothing draws your eye.
      • ker says:
        Check her out in Malice a 1992 film with Bill Pullman, ALec Baldwin, and Nicole Kidman.
        She played a college student and looked so different then. She’s had a lot of work done beside the hair.
  5. SmokeyBlues says:
    I could not read this article, because after I read the headline my eyes rolled so hard they popped out of my head, rolled out the front door, and right on down the street.
  6. Leen says:
    There’s a new interview with Gwyneth where she says she had a miscarriage after Moses. I really dislike Goop but man I couldn’t help but wondering if her miscarriage was the result of messing up her body with extreme dieting and cleanses.
  7. Jane says:
    I do feel sorry for her children. What a lousy role model they have as a mother. They will grow up thinking that Mommy’s life is the only life there is, thus they won’t have any compassion for others. Goops is all about herself and no one else matters.
    • Agnes says:
      Hopefully the nannies will teach the kids compassion.
    • MrsBPitt says:
      Thats why I love Brad and Angelina, yes, their children are very priveleged, but they are attempting to show their children that not everyone is as lucky as they are and that it is important to give back and help those less fortunate…Gwyneth has no clue…
    • Sugar says:
      I remember when I was 15 the mom of my childhood friend had a baby, it was a save our marriage baby which the mom went on to raise as a single mom. But the health food kick was starting in & this child 15 years younger than my frown & I was denied sugar or sugary things-it it her fault she now has a hidden candy store in her shoe closet.
      See with Gwyneth I can only imagine how she lords her ideas & opinions over her children-especially Apple who God forbid she might gain an unnecessary ounce.
  8. MoxyLady007 says:
    Oh yes. I am much less threatened by her now. That little gold statue for playing lets pretend had me thinking she was a person of worth, depth and character for a hot minute. Now I know better.
  9. Katie says:
    Ugh. She’s got no movie to sell (and don’t say Avengers/Iron Man, because not a cent would have been missing from their box office totals if her character were played by ANYONE ELSE), so all she does is sell tidbits of her life which, IMO, is way more lowbrow/low class than anything. But no one is truly interested enough in her to make a “No comment” suffice.
    • V4Real says:
      +1 I was thinking the same thing. If they had replaced her in IM; no one would care. She was only in The Avengers b/c RDJ asked them to put her in. She wasn’t the first choice anyway for Pepper, they wanted Rachel McAdams. How can RDJ be friends with this beyotch is beyond my comprehension. Not many people on the set liked her and she was rude to Scarlette Johanson
      out of pure jealousy
      • Toot says:
        RDJ love Mel Gibson too, so his taste doesn’t impress me.
      • V4Real says:
        @Toot RDJ and Mel have been friends since the early 90’s whereas Goop and RDJ only became friends after working on the first IM, big difference. Please give the Mel thing a rest.
    • emmie_a says:
      She’s still selling something — her new book!
      And if anything she’s *less threatening* not because she’s 40 but because she opens her mouth and we all her how seriously crazy and delusional she is.
    • HotPockets says:
      You know what’s sad? I can never remember that she is in Iron Man, she is so forgettable in those movies that every time I see Gwyneth talking I always think, when is the last time you were ever in a movie that did well? Oh ya, Iron Man, but anyone could have played that role and she isn’t memorable what so ever.
      I never had feelings about Goop until a few years back when she started releasing information about how insufferable she is, not to mention what an elitist she is. She would have never had the career she did if it weren’t for her family.
  10. JFerber says:
    Gwyneth has been trying to Anglicize her features for years with constant tweaking. It’s like she wants to remove all resemblance to her Jewish father, and she did share looks from both her father and WASP mother. So many reasons to dislike her.
  11. MoxyLady007 says:
    She is so asexual. Her and Jen A. I think they have Barbie bodies. All plastic and smooth with nothing actually there. Do you know what I mean? Sex is too sweaty for her, far too decadent.
  12. Squeakie says:
    I am still bitter that she won the Oscar over cate blanchett in Elizabeth. Shakespere in Love was a crap romcom with good costumes. That being said I am kind of tempted to buy her cook book to see how delusional she is but I’d rather not give her any of my money! Maybe I’ll just flip through it the next time I’m at barnes and noble..
    • Christina says:
      +1
      I’ve never taken the Oscar ‘Best Actress’ award seriously since then. Actually, I think Goop was charming in ‘Shakespeare in Love’ but it was hardly the most challenging role in history, was it? All she had to do was look romantic and winsome. By contrast, Cate Blanchett’s Elizabeth was extraordinarily complex and subtle. No comparison.
      • jamie says:
        I was watching Walk the Line yesterday for the first time. Couldn’t figure out what was so great about Resse Witherspoon’s performance (Joaquin however was AMAZING). Long story short, it got me looking at all of the Best Actresses of the past 20 years and YES, the category is a total joke.
      • Ally8 says:
        The Oscars jumped the shark for me with Helen Hunt being awarded for doing her usual overwrought Helen Hunt schtick.
        Also, in hindsight, Forrest Gump winning over four incredible, memorable movies.
        That “Oscar insider” interview this year confirms what idiotic decision-making goes into choosing the winners. The Oscar is a trade show award, we should all realize that by now.
      • Christina says:
        Yup. Of course, there are dodgy decisions in all categories, but Best Actress/Supporting Actress is a total joke. The fact that Natalie Portman got one for grimacing, and that the god-awful Keira Knightley was even nominated makes a mockery of the whole thing.
      • V4Real says:
        I agree with you all. Just to add my 2¢ Denzel Washington should have won for Malcom X not Training day and RDJ should have won for Chaplin, not Al Pacino for The Scent of a Woman. Halle did not impress me in Monster Ball and I don’t want to piss anyone off because I love the girl but JLaw performance in Silver Linning was not Oscar worthy. Check out Naomi Watts act in The Impossible and tell me she wasn’t robbed.
      • Katie says:
        I think the only win I was SOLIDLY behind (that I can remember) was Frances McDormand in Fargo. Holy HELL she was amazing. Oh, also Charlize was pretty damn scary, in a good way.
      • EscapedConvent says:
        @VforReal,
        Absolutely true. I guess I checked out of caring who won when Heath Ledger didn’t win for Brokeback Mountain. That didn’t make any sense.
        Haven’t taken them seriously for years.
      • Spooks says:
        I just saw SLP and JLaw was not Oscar material.
        I never understood why Penelope Cruz won for Vicky Christina Barcelona. She yelled in spanish. Anyone could have done that.
      • Christina says:
        @Spooks
        Haven’t seen ‘Silver Linings’ but I suspect you may be onto something, as many others have said JLaw’s performance was good, but not outstanding. Also agree re Penelope Cruz – I think she’s a pretty average actress and that performance was just an overwrought of a ‘passionate Spaniard’. Dull.
        And while we’re on a roll, how about CZJ in ‘Chicago’? Yeah, she did a good song and dance act, but Oscar worthy? I don’t think so.
      • ctkat1 says:
        I LOVE the Oscars so have to chime in here- the Academy is overwhelmingly white males over 60, and they vote like it.
        Cate Blanchett should have won for “Elizabeth” over Gwyneth in 1999.
        Michelle Williams should have won for “Blue Valentine” over Natalie Portman in 2011.
        Judi Dench should have won for “Mrs. Henderson Presents” over Reese Witherspoon in 2006.
        Julie Christie for “Afterglow” or Judi Dench for “Mrs. Brown” over Helen Hunt in 1998.
        I’m okay with the wins by Nicole Kidman (2003), Hilary Swank (2000), Charlize Theron (2004), Helen Mirren (2007), Marion Cotillard (2008).
      • Spooks says:
        Yes! CZJ in Chicago was not outstanding at all.
        Also, as much as I love her, Julia Roberts in Erin Brockovich wasn’t that good.
      • TheyPromisedMeBeer says:
        I don’t think JLaw should have won the award for SLP, but I let it slide right away because she SHOULD have won for Winter’s Bone. I call it a “Butterfield” Award – when the Academy didn’t reward you for the movie you should have won for, so they give you one for a not-so-stellar role the year after as an apology, a la Liz Taylor and Butterfield 8).
      • RHONYC says:
        @ Spooks & Christina
        my 2 cents on CZJ in Chicago: i too agree that her performance was a great effort, but i also feel her husband ‘bought’ her that Oscar just like the Paltrows bought one for their lil’ princess…ya know, back when she was more threatening and all. 🙄
    • MARIA says:
      so am I! Cate was robbed!
      • LAK says:
        me too.
        Funny thing is i really enjoyed SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE as an ensemble piece, didn’t have any issues with Judy Dench picking up best support for it, BUT Cate was in a league of her own.
        Most years i shrug about the winners because the politics are so clear and if you don’t play the game, you lose eg Emmanuelle Riva this year, but Cate losing to GOOP still sticks in my craw. Cate obviously got the memo after that loss because she has since campaigned for the years she’s nominated.
      • Christina says:
        @LAK
        Yeah, I also loved ‘Shakespeare in Love’ and though I normally can’t stand her, thought Goop was charming and convincing in her role. She also had great chemistry with Joseph Fiennes (lucky bitch!) But as I said above, the role was just a romantic heroine with a Shakespearean theme – you just can’t compare it to the complex, multifaceted ‘Elizabeth’, as performed by Cate Blanchett.
        But ‘Shakespeare in Love’ just charmed the socks off the Academy that year. Cute though it was, it didn’t deserve ‘Best Film’ either. Yes, it was fun, sexy and clever, but hardly among one of the greats.
      • ShaCur says:
        Cate was absolutely amazing, especially given the complexity of “elizabeth”. I have to say though the only movies I enjoyed with goop were “sliding doors” and “great expectations”…..although any actress could have replaced her. The one performance I never understood not getting more acclaim was Christian Bale in “the machinist”. oh my god that was intense.I’m not one for rewarding actors for weight gain/loss, but knowing christian bale went right into batman after is dedication. Plus, he was insanely good in the machinist.
      • ker says:
        I would love to see the nominated actors/actresses act the other nominees roles and see who really is the best. That would be the only way to see who the better performer is.
        I loved how Alan Rickman won an award for playing Rasputin and he said that it was easy to win when there was a good script and good part. He said teh real challenge was playing a crap part in a crap film!
  13. Ailine says:
    I wasn’t aware that she was supposed to be threatening. Who cares when she won an Oscar? People just don’t like a snob…or an egomaniac.
    • Rhea says:
      This. When I read that she won the Oscar that year, I was just thinking “Oh, that skinny chick?” Not feeling anything regarding her winning the Oscar and certainly didn’t find her threatening because of a tinny golden statue. Not before and most definitely not even now. LOL. I don’t even think that Meryl Streep who won the Oscar for more than once ever said that people would think that she’s a threat for them.
      I find her amusing, though. She lives in her own bubble world and thinking the world spinning around her.
    • Itsa Reallyme says:
      I think it’s HILARIOUS that she thinks people are sitting around feeling like she’s so much better than us that we’ll just never quite measure up. It’s laughable!
  14. Squeakie says:
    Also maybe it’s just the whiskers on those jeans but something seriously weird is happening in the crotch region..it looks like she has a tiny penis under there
    • Christina says:
      Was going to say the same thing. The crotch on the jeans seems far too long and is dragging down in a weird way. At first I thought they were too big for her but they seem to fit her perfectly on her legs – and would Good even think of stepping outside her front door in less than perfectly fitting clothes – so it must just be the (ugly) cut of the jeans.
  15. Kristy says:
    It’s becoming evident that she is likely to be suffering a legitimate, diagnosable mental health issue, especially something on the disordered eating spectrum. She could be a really lovely person, but the ego is all out of whack. Like maybe her Oscar has nothing to do with her being “threatening” as much as her OCD relationship to food and her self-reflexiveness is just, you know, ugly. It’s too bad that she’s got this food issue and that the media, like Shape, expect healthy people to swallow this insane and potentially dangerous Gwyneth-as-diet-guru nonsense.
  16. another nina says:
    I like her style and I respect her will power — she does look great for her age, and sure does put a lot of effort.Her website from time to time contains something useful and for that I’m grateful.
    Other than that, she was born rich, she has no idea of the world outside of her circle but still I find her much more classy than many wealthy NYorkers…
    • LAK says:
      i feel like her style is just a copy of CBK who came to prominence around the time GOOP was initially a star. Everybody copied her flat ironed hair and so many women bleached their hair to that colour and dressed in that simple CBK/Calvin Klein style.
      GOOP still emulates CBK’s style. If you google CBK, GOOP looks like she catalogued all of her looks and is paying homage to her.
      • ker says:
        Who is CBK?
      • LAK says:
        Carolynn Bessette Kennedy
      • Carolyn says:
        Yes. I quite agree.
        Another angle. Maybe Gwyneth is telling Natalie Imbruglia and whoever else Chris has been on with that she’s not threatened by them anymore..that they’ve “reached an understanding” He can be with whoever young floozy but she will always still be the one he’s married to.
  17. Rhiley says:
    Your analysis in this piece is spot on. Especially goopy’s perception of aging.
  18. neer says:
    I wonder, who is more image conscious, Gwyneth or Aniston?
  19. Simple Red says:
    These comments are hilarious this morning..
    I don’t know who felt threatened by her, that’s interesting to say the least…
    Her mother is a better actress than her
    • j.eyre says:
      You know, I think I have become much less threatening now that I am in my 40s, flabby, greying and have done absolutely nothing worthwhile with any part of my life.
      … I know, you’re all welcome.
      • c'est la vie says:
        Love your comment, j.eyre.
        Now all I can think of is a has been actress desperately trying to stay relevant, through a mag called Goop.
        That’s just sad.
  20. Caroline says:
    So, Gwenyth, how has turning forty changed you?
    G: Well aging is obviously a flaw that makes us less perfect but on the bright side, all these imperfect people around me can now start to relate to me just a little bit.
    Beyonce, how is Gwyneth as a friend?
    B: I’m a great mom and will continue to be a great mom, thanks for asking!
    That’s what I got out of this article.
    • lady mary. says:
      ha ha ,so true ,thats all i got out of it too ,especially beyonces comment on her friendship ,iam a gr8 mom,i will be a gr8 mom,she is a gr8 mom,this is our friendship
    • zinjojo says:
      Yes, right on all points! I thought it was hilarious that when Beyonce is asked for a quote about her friendship with Gwynnie, she makes it about herself.
      When the two of them are together the egomania must be totally out of control!
    • lee says:
      hahahaha. I love this comment. It’s a PERFECT synopsis.
    • ClaireNZ says:
      I had to reread Beyonce’s answer too! Talk about twisting it right back to yourself!
  21. aims says:
    How is she responsible for Blue’s childhood? She’s always been a name dropper, but the impression she gives off is that she’s so close to Beyonce, she’s Blue’s second mom. She is so condescending, and whatever she is trying to sell comes off very ingenious. This is a woman who is a control freak, and has a borderline eating disorder that she’s pushing on her family and the world. This women who’s telling the world that she has it together comes across as the opposite.
    • lisa2 says:
      I was confused by that too, then I had to go back and reread..
      It was not her quote about Blue Ivy. but it was a quote from Beyonce talking about their friendship.
      Beyonce on Gwyneth’s friendship: ‘She is incredible. She’s a great friend on every level. I think for us, protecting our daughters is so important and … keeping things on our own terms, so I will still be protective and make sure [Blue Ivy] has a childhood and a great time.’
      Which is still off. I think it is so funny how a few actresses have to have a “friend” quote in all their interviews. I guess to make them interesting or to remind us again who they are friends with. And regarding her Oscar win..she is not the first actress to win an Oscar in their twenties. But she is in a long list of actresses that won and Oscar early, and have not lived up to the hype of that win. She seems to be floundering. I don’t know if she is happy with things. but I thought she wanted to sing. If that was her passion then sad that she is doing all these other things and not what she was talking about wanting to to.
      I’m not someone that reads self help blogs or books. I rather see people who are actually living their dreams then the ones talking about how to do it.
      • aims says:
        You’re right. I had to reread that again. But it wouldn’t surprise me if she thought of herself as the ultimate mom, nurturing the children of the world.
      • Miss Jupitero says:
        Beyonce’s comment: I think it is important for children to learn at some point that things cannot always be “on their terms” because other people also have terms. Putting aside your own desires is how you make friends– and this is what leads to having a happy life.
        Having your good time at everyone else’s expense is not evolved or compassionate and will only result in a lot of loneliness.
        I get so tired of peoe who are always complaining g about how this or that isn’t what they want or who have to control every damned thing. Lighten up and maybe people will enjoy your company.
      • Dido says:
        Does the Oscar at 26 comment strike anyone else as Goop’s reaction to J Lawrence’s win / super popularity?
      • cs says:
        @dido
        I was thinking the same thing. Just like her favorite gown was similar to Anne (with an e) Oscar gown.
        I really believe she’s the one who’s jealous of other women’s fame. She’s also a user.
        Brad alluded to that when they broke up. She used him to gain popularity. I remember JLO calling her out back then saying that she’s popular due to her association with Brad. She hated JLO ever since.
        Think about it..She became Besties with Wynonna Ryder when Wynonna was the “it” girl at the time. Madonna, again the biggest pop star out there at the time..
        Stella McCarthy ,the last name say’s it all.
        Cameron Diaz, probably because Cam is the same age and had a hit movie a couple of years ago. Cam was also going out with Arod, one of the highest paid /well-known baseball players.
        Now she’s Besties with Beyonce which I find hilarious. Beyonce’s vocabulary is limited besides she loves Popeye’s Fried Chicken/Gumbo. There was a recent video of Beyonce eating a piece of chicken down to the bone.
        She’s Pathetic…
      • @lisa2 says:
        wow, great comment! I think you are right on the money. I didn’t even think of the singing career.
    • Laura says:
      @cs
      So Beyonce and Gwyneth can’t be friends because Beyonce likes to eat fried chicken down to the bone?
      • cs says:
        No, considering GOOP would think fried chicken is poisonous. And she said herself that she preferred the company of her British friends since they were more polished, intelligent and worldly. But of course, she’s now friends with Bey and Jay-Z.. She’s a user..
        That’s my point!
      • RHONYC says:
        @ cs
        *praying hands*
        pretty PUH-LEEEEEZE try and find the link to that vid and post it. i’m laughing at just the thought of it.
        i’ve seen her eat b4 and its atrocious. haha :mrgreen:
        p.s.- Gloopy also hates JLo b/c her ex (Ben) was using Jlo’s fanny for a helmet and for this infamous lil’ gem from her interview in ’98s Movieline mag:
        “I swear to God, I don’t remember anything she was in. Some people get hot by association,” goes the inflammatory Lopez quote on Paltrow, circa 1998. “I heard more about her and Brad Pitt than I ever heard about her work.”
        http://beautiful962.yuku.com/topic/3206/t/Movieline-1998.html#.UUd9YhemjXc
        epic. slam. 😉
  22. Rita says:
    She’s been through a lot of pain and suffering….I just want to scream, “BITCH, please. I got your pain and suffering right here”, (hand glasping butt)!!!!!
    I could shank and bitch slap her for a month without stopping and still not get it all out of my system.
    A little true pain and suffering might give this elitest colon cleaner some perspective.
  23. Ranunculus says:
    Isn’t it the funniest thing that in a country where obesity has reached the level of an epidemic, people get all crazy worked up about somebody who is trying to stay thin and talks about eating healthy.
    • LBNYC says:
      Problem is, Gwyneeeeee doesn’t know what she’s talking about in terms of “healthy eating.” Her dietary recommendations are, in fact, quite dangerous.
    • Rhea says:
      Thin does not equal with being healthy—if you’re not achieving that in a healthy way. Also, I think people get all worked up with the way she’s talking about it.
    • Miss Jupitero says:
      I’m all for stayi g thin and healthy (and am thin and healthy)! Orthorexia isn’t healthy. It can kill you.
      I think one of they keys to being healthy is to think in ferms of how you *feel* rather than how you look. The nicer abs and butt will just happen. The real question is are you happy? Do you feel energized? Are you motivated by self love or self hatred? The former will sustain you.
    • Emily says:
      Thin does not mean healthy. Fat does not mean unhealthy. The “obesity epidemic” is a myth.
      This is a woman with vitamin deficiency and early-onset osteoperosis — how on earth can you claim that’s “healthy?! Also, her hair and skin are hideous, and she looks older than my 56-year old mother. I do not think Paltrow is attractive at all.
    • Ranunculus says:
      Vitamin D deficiency mainly comes from staying out of the sun too much. Somebody who is anorexic looks very different to what she looks like. Osteoporosis is often genetically related and there is very little to do in a diet (except for increase Vitamin D, Calcium and exercise) Smoking and drinking could be related to early osteoporosis. When you have brittle bones, the least thing you want be is overweight.
  24. Amelia says:
    She does has an over-inflated ego. She does not matter to me at all.
  25. decorative item says:
    I went to school with a girl who would run about making up stories, like how she was related to Princess Diana. Anyway, she would explain away her lack of friends by concluding that we were all jealous and terribly threatened by her. She never could see how insufferable she was. It was fascinating and sad to watch.
    • MrsBPitt says:
      Was her name Gwyneth Paltrow?
    • Miss Jupitero says:
      The belief that other people are jealous of you and that this explains your difficulties in life, and the need to be “special” and associated with “important” people are actually on the symptom checklist for Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
      I went to school with a woman who is a distant relation to the Queen Mother and who actually went to the the Chuck and Di wedding with her family. Never strutted about it, never thought it was a big deal, wearied of people who did. She’s a perfectly normal Oregon housewife these days, married a doctor, writes a out local history,, and faces all of the same issues everyone else faces.
  26. cs says:
    This woman is so annoying and to think I was sad when she and Brad Pitt broke-up back in the 90’s.
    Yes, she stole the script from Wynonna and stole the Oscar that year from Cate Blanchett…Who was more deserving.
    Now I know why her husband stays on the road touring.
    I think she heads my list of celebrities I despise.
    • jess says:
      Amen, CS! And amen, Kaiser! Can’t stand goop.
    • Miss Jupitero says:
      I miss Winona. She is one actress who should many more parts and a lot more exposure. I don’t care about the shoplifting incident.
      (Sorry for all my autocorrect typing errors! Replying on an iPhone is not very optimal!)
  27. Miss M says:
    … “the wisdom that has given her early-onset osteoporosis, anemia and severe vitamin deficiency.” Ouch! So true, Kaiser! These people in Hollywood have terrible eating habits (disorders).
  28. j.eyre says:
    Top O’ the morning!
    Who is the chick on the cover?
    I have never forgiven her for how poorly her Oscar dress was fitted.
    • Miss M says:
      @J.eyre: Good morning! It was a terrible dress, I did not forget it… and I can’t blame you for not forgiven her.
      • EscapedConvent says:
        Well if it’s Irish dudes you want, where are Fassy & Liam Neeson?! & Ray Stevenson is Irish.
        Oh, bugger—I forgot Colin Farrell! How could I? He was my pretend boyfriend for months. 😉
      • j.eyre says:
        Do you think poor Ray is up to it today? We gave it to him pretty good the other day, bless him.
        Oh what am I saying- of course he is!
        Also, can we throw a little Chris O’Dowd in there – I love a man who makes me giggle.
        @A. MOL – are you freakin’ kidding me? Please, please, please tell me all the evidence is flying about tumblr – which, btw, I have no problem going to now that the flames for Hiddles have flickered. Well, I have my evening’s plans.
        I do know that CHemboy and his remora have returned to Cali (with India, of course.) They have been photo’d all over. Soooo close… I can smell him…
    • j.eyre says:
      Mornin’ Agent MOL!
      • EscapedConvent says:
        Jane, are you still miffed with me for disrespecting your scones?
        Please forgive?
      • j.eyre says:
        Oh darling, it’s St. Patrick’s Day – all is forgiven (read: I have been drunk since 6AM). Those scones were dreadful, I made them with my tears of heartbreak.
        But alas, a proper, bloody battle, a rousing orgy and a nice cup of tea have set me right as rain. And how is your Sunday shaping up?
        Agent MOL – were you the one hoping for a hot guy SPD post? Should we highjack one? Not this one – the comments are marvelous. Any other post seemingly dead now? Maybe the Ryan and Julianne post?
      • EscapedConvent says:
        (Sigh of relief) Thank you, Miss Eyre, for your intoxicated generosity. I couldn’t bear it if I hurt your lavender-scented feelings. No one could expect you to be able to measure ingredients properly through your blinding tears!
        Funny you mention a Post Hijacking—I was just about to, although the topic isn’t delicious like a Hot Dude post. But isn’t tomorrow the beginning of Lindsay L’s trial? No one has mentioned warming up the popcorn machine or mixing the cracktails. Just a thought.
      • Miss M says:
        @Ms J.eyre: Yes, I was the one hoping for a SPD edition with the finest Irish dongs…
        Please, drink up for me. My celebration will be a bit more discreet, I am still recovering from food poisoning, hahaha.
        ps: Apparently Tom (Hiddles) twitter account got hacked.
      • EscapedConvent says:
        Miss M & j.eyre,
        Hiddles’ Twitter got hacked?! Miss M, do you have any more news? This sounds nice & juicy. How many Hiddles tumblr-inas have been taken to the ER?
      • Miss M says:
        @EsCon: Hello there! I don’t know exactly what happened to his account. I just went to lurk in today and saw his post apologizing he got hacked, that was it. Sorry, but I have no additional info.
        ps: @j.eyre- Miss eyre, I didn’t get a SPD edition today, but phew! I went out and saw many cute Irish Americans live, celebrating SPD today in Boston, 🙂
      • j.eyre says:
        Hey A. MOL – the cursory investigating I did got an errant tweet that was deleted and apparently nothing scandalous – so I am sorely disappointed at the lack of keening and rending of garments.
        Funny you mention the real SPD hunkfest (that sounds so matronly, yes?) I went to pick up a few items at the grocery store and accidentally drove to the mall to look at shoes. The men there today – oh! They were gorgeous… and plentiful. I did an actual double-take on a Blair Underwood look alike.
        Is there a message here? Something about getting off our computers and getting out more? The Heir and the Heiress have taken ill so I will rely heavily on CB for the next day or so (but then again, Mr. R has Spring Break next week so being stuck at home won’t be so bad *wink*)
      • Miss M says:
        @j.eyre: Thanks for the ivnestigation, Ms. eyre!!!!
        The Hunkfest was fantastic, phew! Why do you think I planned all my week’s experiments in a way I would not be either on the lab or on the pc analyzing data?! 🙂
      • Miss M says:
        @j.eyre: correction–> investigation* geesh… I just got back from grocery shopping.
        “Is there a message here? Something about getting off our computers and getting out more? ” Yes, it is a message! Isaw a guy at the subway who looked like Clark Kent. I had to remind myself to not stare at him, hahaha. Tough task!
        I hope The Heir and the Heiress feel better soon! Do enjoy Mr. R Spring break, :).
  29. Megan says:
    Goop is goop, and obviously has delusions of grandeur but really no one is going to comment on Beyonce’s comment? I mean she is asked about Goop as a friend and she turns it around to talking about Beyonce!!
    Sorry but these two self involved twits are perfect to be friends.
  30. Dina says:
    I think her point is that as females, a lot of us in our younger yrs tend to “dislike” the thin, pretty, tall one….especially one of them who achieved early career success… And now that we get older and more secure in ourselves….we can befriend those women…. The other problem ppl have with her is that we like the underdog…not the successful one…and by continued talking about herself whether an interview or on goop, we find it self absborbed and shallow…. Even if she tries to connect talking about her pain from losses….she can’t win… She is not the everyday working mom/woman… But she does have an audience that connects with her…they tend to be in a diff socio-economic class…. Yuppies…. She doesn’t bother me as much as other celebs who act like fools and waste their money and privilege with partying …
  31. e.non says:
    meanwhile, goop’s mom has been showing up in a commercial peddling some bone-strengthening drug for the olds…. well, at least it’s not reverse mortgages..
    i can’t imagine goop is pleased.
    oh … she looks like cameron diaz in that photoshopped cover.
  32. dorothy says:
    Here goes…(sheilding face with hands) I like her. I love her style and her clean, sleek look. I think she’s a little arrogant, but I still like her. There, I said it.
    • Carobell says:
      Me too! Maybe she is delusional about how life is, but I get so much enjoyment reading about her delusions and she has a really clean look that I like.
  33. Dee Cee says:
    I’ve worried I would run out of ways to reinvent myself to achieve a worthy name in greatness.. I study and carefully pick, eliminate from what I found is the best and use all the nifty things I found to use as my own wisdom to share with you.. so praise me for doing all this hard work ..for you.. and playing with someone’s heart shows there is nothing in yours.. nawh! Pfft
  34. anonymous fan says:
    I have nothing to add.Kaiser said everything there is to say about this self absorbed jerk.I think she summed Goop up perfectly.
    I still can’t believe that woman a who is severly malnutritioned is giving out diet advice and writing cookbooks.Wow.
  35. lucy2 says:
    It’s amazing to me that she can talk about female sisterhood in one sentence, and then in the next say everyone used to be threatened by her because she was so awesome.
    If she’s been in therapy all these years, she should ask for her money back. If this many issues are obvious even in magazine articles, can’t imagine what comes up there.
    • Kiki says:
      Maybe she’s related to that Brit chick Samantha Brick?
      • j.eyre says:
        I have read your comment a few times today and I had Samantha BARKS in my mind when I read it and could not figure out what you had against poor Eponine.
        Just clued in (and just started drinking, maybe that was the problem – sober brain). Yes, Brick and GOOP might get on well in their glass tea house.
    • Emily says:
      I’m sure she shopped for a therapist the way she shopped for a doctor, and therefore her therapist is a quack who tells her her weight issues are legitimate, her relationship with her husband is healthy, and her kids are just whining when they tell her they’re hungry.
  36. turningviolet says:
    Some of the recipes from her cookbook were printed today in the Mail on Sunday (UK paper). I literally cannot imagine ANYBODY i know (or even just anybody) ever actually cooking those things – let alone being able to source half the ingredients. And I consider myself to be a reasonably healthy cook, but those recipes are just quack.
  37. Mrs. Ari Gold says:
    It’s official – I cannot stand her.
    I think she is the only celebrity that I seriously do not like.
    Someone needs to tell her that she canmot conceal who she really is: her trueself comes through in everything she says. She’s a snob who looks down on the masses while simultaneuously trying to get them to buy her stuff, establish herself as a ‘role model’ (please!) to keep her famous until she makes another movie after her kids are older. It’s not working.
  38. karmasabiatch! says:
    I’m really not a Goop hater (even though her demeanor of faux noblesse oblige makes me chortle), but SRSLY?? Not being “threatened” by Goop now that she’s 40 instead of 26 – PHEW. It is such a relief to be able to cast out those feelings of inferiority and intimidation I’ve always felt re: Goop and her awesomeness. I’m SO much less jealous know that she’s finally turned 40. Thanks, Goop! *major eye roll*
  39. Nicolette says:
    Oh boy, another delusional celebrity that thinks the world revolves around her and her greatness *cough*. What would us mere peasants do without their pearls of wisdom? It’s perfect that she and Beyonce are friends because they are two of the most self absorbed, narcissistic idiots going. Throw AnnE into that mix and you would have the trinity of a**holes.
  40. erika says:
    less threatening yes, more ANNOYING….
    however…more THREATENING, annoying, bitchy, arrogant, excaberating, superficial, self centered, paranoid, self serving, obnoxious, cold hearted/blooded, prude, bulimic/anorexic wanna be carb hating, BORE.
    Feed your kids. I hope they steal Goldfish and white bread from the local 7-11.
    I take that back. They don’t need to steal, the cashier hands it out freely to them cause he knows what a racist bitch you are too!
    • EscapedConvent says:
      I would almost wish that poor little Apple & Moses would sneak into convenience stores & chug 2-litre bottles of JOLT….
      but I have nothing but sympathy for those two little tykes. I would just like to see Goop have a screaming hissy fit in a convenience store & have to be escorted (thrown) out.
  41. Marybel says:
    Insufferable snob. She lives in a pretend Camelot.
  42. Brou ha ha says:
    A lot of what you all are speculating about is confirmed in this interview that she did with Jerry and Jessica Seinfeld.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIf3khcOfsc
    • Lo says:
      Jessica is so far up Gwynnies ass, I’m surprised she can breathe.
      Seriously.
      I cringed at how much she was kissing her ass.
    • lucy says:
      Just watched that cringeworthy interview and LAUGHED. Her selling points for frittatas are that you can eat them cold, room temperature, and not piping hot. HAhaHA! Even if some people enjoy eating cold eggs (yuck), why not mention flavor or the varying mix of ingredients you can put in frittatas, like herbs, veggies, meats, potatoes, pasta, or rice, and that a frittata is substantial enough to be a meal on its own. All she can say is the eating temperature?! She says the one same thing 3 ways as though cold/room temp/not piping hot were significant and distinct.
      Take a drink each time GP says “like” as she speaks!
      And, yes, the Seinfelds are fawning over her. Totally NOT unbiased at all.
      Are they really so dense not to realize that multimillionaires hyping each other shilling their wares is gauche?
  43. Jen says:
    She. Is. THE. WORST.
  44. junegorilla says:
    She is WAY too old for that dress. I never understood her reputation as a great actress or a great beauty. Theron is a great beauty. Johanson is a great beauty. Not so much the GOOP.
  45. DailyNightly says:
    I’d like to smack her in back of the head with her cookbook.
  46. Kiki says:
    What do you mean by “stealing her best friend’s script”? Can someone please tell me? I don’t know that story.
    • manly says:
      script fron wynona ryder.
    • LAK says:
      The story goes that GOOP took the script for SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE from Winona’s house. It had been sent to Winona specifically. GOOP was not on their wish/want lists.
      We do know that Winona was NOT amused at all the attention and especially Oscar that GOOP subsequently received for it which led people to believe the story was true.
      or it could have been professional jealousy. Either way, GOOP and Winona stopped being besties.
  47. lisa2 says:
    I just saw that she did an interview with The Mail where she talks about having the miscarriage.
    I feel sympathy for any woman that has gone through that.
    I’m just confused why she is talking about it now. I don’t mean to say there should be a “set” time to reveal such a thing. But I feel like it is so off the cuff. Like when Beyonce told us she had one. I just think it is such a sad thing. But they seem to be revealing it to promote something. But I don’t want to be snarky. (maybe too late???)
    I’m not a Gwenny fan. It bothers me because I use to like her. But now not so much.
    • Bourgie says:
      I’m with you on this, lisa2. I can’t imagine the pain and sadness of experiencing a miscarriage, but it does strike me as too much sharing for promotion’s sake. Another case of celebrities trying to appear just like us maybe? Except the sad version.
      Last bit of snark (my apologies!): of course she nearly died from her miscarriage. I’m sorry, but how many near-death experiences has Poor Goopy had?
      • emmie_a says:
        Exactly Bourgie — too much sharing for the sake of promoting her book. If this news had just come out of the blue I’d have more sympathy for her — but because this is all part of selling her book makes it a sick and icky. Really? She has to sell her inner pain and turmoils for more money? Celebrities who do this are all sorts of wrong.
        And part of me wonders if publicists make up ‘sympathy lists’ and when something needs promoting or selling they start going through the list and concocting stories.
    • Jane says:
      Miscarriages are dreadful and most likely hard to get over, so I feel for anyone who has had to.
      Why now–Beyonce shared, so now she does. Sounds tacky, but I don’t see why now either.
      But didn’t she also say she nearly died from her migraine/anxiety attack (or something to that affect) and that is why she changed her diet? Not making light, but some things just need to be put into perspective.
      She lives in such a bubble that she has no awareness of the world outside that bubble, which is very sad. Rich, thin and self centered is her norm. Anything else is beneath her and she just does not get why people roll their eyes at her actions.
      • lisa2 says:
        I would like to see her take her concern for diet and direct it towards people that need it. That she talk about hunger all over the world. That she work with schools and such to improve school lunches.
        Just do something. But I don’t see her doing anything to help anyone else.
  48. Cody says:
    I can’t believe this woman is Blythe Danner’s child. What happened? Goop is not in touch with the real world.
    • lisa2 says:
      I think Blythe may feel the same way. She has said some things in interviews that made me think the course Gwenny is taking is not the one she was raised on. Especially when it comes to the kids and her marriage.
      • Bijlee says:
        Like what? I’m always in shock she’s gwynnies mom. She seems like such a sweet down to earth woman and gywneth not so much. Ive heard it’s her fathers fault in that he spoiled her unbelievably rotten. I’ve also heard she doesn’t have the best relationship with her mother. Is any of that true?
  49. Akim says:
    Gwyneth will be one of the most amazing meltdowns in Hollywood history.
  50. Reece says:
    I like that dress!
    Beyond that, I have no notes.
  51. Meg says:
    well jennifer lawrence is 22 with an oscar, do you think she’ll be saying this at 40? NO because jennifer lawrence doesn’t take herself so fucking seriously
  52. Meg says:
    bragging about how much money you have to afford therapy, saying others are threatened by your success-you’ve gone through ‘so much’ so much what? more than what others go though on a daily basis? we all lose our family members, why is it so much more important that you lost yours? and you wonder why this ‘sisterhood’ has escaped you in your life? you wonder why some women hate you?
  53. Loira says:
    I understand perfectly her friendship with king Beyonce… The Macartney chick… Well, she is a music princess, so and goop thinks she is one, so… About Cameron, now I think that Cammie is seriously stoned to hangout with goop. I bet goop is jealous of Cammie’s perfect legs.
    One more thing, I do nót understand when she says she “was rich enough to afford thery” what’s with that? The psychologists are only for the rich or something? Or maybe hers charged her 100,000 per session? I do not get the joke there.
  54. Sarcasmo says:
    Okay, but who is that on the cover?
  55. Trudy says:
    I think all this “perfection” comes from issues with her mother. No matter how hard she tried she was never good enough for her.
    • Ace says:
      Say what!?!?
      What makes you say that?
      • lisa2 says:
        She talks more about her father then her mother. And I watched part of that video with Jerry and his wife and she said she changed her eating habits because of her father’s cancer. I don’t know if she talks about her mother much. I use to see her with her mom, but not in a long long time
  56. Syko says:
    I am 70 years old, overweight, lumpy, undereducated, poor and tired, and yet I have never felt threatened by her. I must just be oblivious to her superiority.
  57. skuddles says:
    I’ve never really been able to take GOOP seriously. Her acting is only so so, and same with her looks – although she does clean up nicely. And as for the whole diet and lifestyle thing she promotes, I’ve never read her blog or watched any of her interviews as I simply could not care less. But I do find it amusing how very seriously she takes herself.
  58. Ace says:
    Blythe made a big mistake when she married Gwyneth’s father.
  59. elceibeno08 says:
    Those ads that appear at the bottom of every picture are so annoying! You x them out and they reappear, but I understand they pay the bills for the website so it’s cool.
    When Gwyneth Paltrow says she is less threatening because she is older, who is she talking about? She could not possibly be thinking of us blogging here. We are so insignificant in her eyes. Even the staff of this website (and others) who have the power to question her life via the internet would not in my opinion seem to be even in her mind. Who was she threatening to back then? And what makes her think those people will like her now?
  60. janie says:
    What a smug, self-centered bitch.
  61. Good guy says:
    The tornado of comments just PROVED what she was saying… 70% Of the women do get insecure and threatened when they see a beautiful , SLIM woman. After that they subconsciously try to find *SOME FAULT * on her….. And what if she talks about herself? Dont you people write essays about yourself here on completely unrelated topic?(Being a nobody)… If you can love and be subservient to a smug like George clooney (Syriana Oscar or GG speech) then she is not even on same wavelength as him…
    • Lore says:
      Why I don’t like her has nothing to do with what she looks like. She’s built like a 13 year old boy and has a pig nose. She is not attractive. She didn’t have friends because she’s a mean girl.
    • Lo says:
      Some of us are actually SLIM women here *shocker*
      I don’t find Gwyneth pretty, beautiful or attractive at all, and I don’t think she’s ever been a known beauty in Hollywood or elsewhere.
      • Lemony says:
        Exactly, how ridiculous to assume that all of us commenting are not SLIM (Good guy felt the need to capitilize it so I’m following suit) therefore we are miserable, therefore we must look up to SLIM Gwyneth. Which is, of course, exactly how Gwyneth thinks everyone is. Puh-lease.
    • Emily says:
      Oh yes, and everyone commenting about Kim Kardashian is jealous of her too. Because all women are completely and totally obsessed with looks, we’re all catty and jealous, and we care about NOTHING else.
      All the comments prove that people hate this woman because she’s hateful. And she’s hateful in a way that touches a nerve: she has severe food issues that she pretends make her healthy but actually make her AND HER CHILDREN unhealthy; she brags about her wealth, which she was born into; she has a horrible marriage that she pretends is perfect (speaking of being subservient); and she’s simply 100% insufferable. What she looks like *does not matter*, but it’s the only thing that seems to matter to her at all.
      Most of the time, I pity her. Then she comes out with something like this, and I see red, but after a little bit… yeah, I’m back to pitying her again. I wouldn’t mind her bank account, but I would not take *anything* else from her life. I’m happily married, I like how I look, and I don’t have an eating disorder. Gwyneth Paltrow is just really really sad.
    • Lemony says:
      @Good guy: I’m already slim, have figured out a healthy way of eating & exercising & also am in a very fulfilling relationship, so none of Gwynnie’s advice is of any benefit to me. I’m not jealous of her. Except for her buckets of money I’ve already got everything she brags about.
      • Good guy says:
        Thats what Im trying to say. You people are picking on her just cuz she is a woman. Its her interview so obviously she’ll share her views.. Do you want her to be silent so that she satisfies the readers ego? And for People calling her not beautiful !!!! Seriously? ;P The only female celebs accepted here in this blog are Adele(fat) and Jennifer Lawrence(average looks)… Its so obvious of the female on female sexism. Lol. Even if George cloon showers praise on himself then you wont mind but if a beauty says a few self promotive words she will be crucified.
        P.S she is a 6/10 in terms of talent and 6.5/10 on looks
      • Jo 'Mama' Besser says:
        Your rating-by-numbers appraisal system totally negated your point and is just as sexist as any of the behaviours you claim to oppose.
    • anneesezz says:
      I don’t like her because she was born on third base and thinks she hit a triple.
  62. Carolyn says:
    That so doesn’t even look like Gwynnie on the cover. Too much photoshop! Wouldn’t have known it was her without the CB heading!
  63. Lauren says:
    “‘I posted this a month or so ago, but just for good measure, here are a few of my all time favorite Gwyneth Paltrow:
    “I’d rather smoke crack than eat cheese from a tin.”
    “When I pass a flowering zucchini plant in a garden, my heart skips a beat.”
    “I don’t really have drunk friends. My friends are kind of adult…”
    “I basically love anything that comes in a hot dog bun… except hot dogs.”
    “I would rather die than let my kid eat Cup-a-Soup.”
    “Could I use some butter and cheese and eggs in my cooking without going down some kind of hippie shame spiral? Yes. Of course I could.”
    “St. Marks Bookshop is in NYU territory and so it’s no surprise it stocks a bevvy of scholarly titles in Cultural Theory.”
    “We’ve got a wood-burning pizza oven in the garden — a luxury, I know, but it’s one of the best investments I’ve ever made… One evening when I had my wood-burning stove going I realized I hadn’t thought of dessert.”
    “Some days I feel like everyone in my world has plugged themselves into my kidneys. I’m so tired.”
    “When you go to Paris and your concierge sends you to some restaurant because they get a kickback, it’s like, ‘No. Where should I really be? Where is the great bar with organic wine? Where do I get a bikini wax in Paris?'”
    “One cold wintry day in London, I was dreaming about salad nicoise—one of my favorites.”
    “I’ve found that the best hangover remedy can be a hot and cold spa treatment. The original would be the traditional Turkish Hamman, but you can find this kind of treatment at spas all over the world.”
    “During the strict macrobiotic chapter of my life, I ate miso soup every day for breakfast and sometimes with dinner as well.”
    “I first had a version of this at a Japanese monastery during a silent retreat—don’t ask, it’s a long story.”
    “I had my first bowl of gazpacho when I was fifteen in Spain, and the impression it made was a lasting one.”
    “I’m just a normal mother with the same struggles as any other mother…”
    “Beauty fades! I just turned 29, so I probably don’t have that many good years left in me.”‘
    Your welcome.
    • Lemony says:
      LOL! such gywnsufferable pearls of wisdom.
    • inthekitchen says:
      OHMYGOD!!!!!!!!!!! Lauren! I love you. That is one of THE funniest things I have ever seen. I’m going to bookmark that link and read it whenever I need cheering up.
      It’s all the funnier too because you know she is completely serious in her nonsense. She’s like that character from In Living Color who would say all kinds of big words, but made no sense…but for rich, pretentious yuppies. OMG, I hate to read that again.
  64. Emily says:
    And she brags about her wealth: being the “first one who could afford therapy”. ARGH.
  65. Lo says:
    I don’t know why she fries her hair so much with the dye and the straightening.
    Her hair is naturally kind of kinky textured and wavy, slightly curly.
    They photoshopped the sh*t out of her on that cover.
    • Lemony says:
      @Lo: Didn’t you know? Only peasants have kinky, wavy or curly hair. At least, only peasants let that natural texture be SEEN by others in daylight. (Is this why Jennifer Aniston’s hair is always flat-ironed? I don’t find her as nauseating as Le Goop, but it makes me wonder)
      • Lemony says:
        This is OT (well, it’s about ME) but flat ironing commebnt Lo made reminded me of my reaction to Le Goop, J. Aniston, etc when I was a teen/young adult. My hair suddenly became curly when puberty started & neither I nor my mother nor any other relative or friend knew what to do w/ my hair. Years of horrible school photos, this one here. My hair ( and life) changed when I moved away to college & encountered an African-American beautician who taught me how to handle my thick curly hair. A godsend of a woman! During the years in which my hair was a mystery to me Gwyneth, Aniston, etc were flat-ironing their hair. I was bombarded w/ such images & attempted to copy their straight styles, as it appeared to me that straight, silky, pale blonde hair was the feminine ideal, & curly hair was frumpy, dumpy & messy. Today I happily toss my flowing, non-frizzy, strategically layered, strawberry-blonde tendrils over my shoulder as Le Goop’s dull, scorched mane hangs limply from her shoulders.
        /rant over
        /too much st paddy’s day
  66. Jaded says:
    She’s smug, self-aggrandizing and contemptuous of most of the human race. There is not a whit of anything remotely likeable in her personality (if she actually HAS one) and I can’t understand why her husband puts up with her. Although he’s pretty much of a jerk himself so I guess they’ve both reached the pinnacle of married obnoxiousness.
  67. OhDear says:
    She strikes me as someone who is incredibly insecure, which comes out as smug and self-involved. Like that not being as threatening at 40 line – to me she’s saying that she thinks she’s washed up (and therefore others also see her as washed up) because she’s “old.”
  68. mystified says:
    I don’t know. Has Goop turned into a Samamtha Brick wannabe? Please give me some more Samantha Brick stories! She’s so much more interesting than Goop.
  69. Rated PG says:
    Can I get a “Bitch Please!”
  70. MGray says:
    Last night I had a dream that Gwyneth Paltrow came to the bar where I work, and looking at her when she ordered her drink (vodka and lemonade with water) was like staring into the sun. Not in a ‘struck with awe’ kind of way, but a ‘looking at you is uncomfortable and making me hurt’ kind of way.
    I get the feeling meeting and speaking to her in real life would be similar.
  71. alyson says:
    Her osteoporosis diagnosis speaks volumes about her eating habits and the nutritional deficiencies in her diet. And here she is dispensing advice to others about diet and exercise??!
    To be fair to Gwyneth, Hollywood is probably full of undiagnosed cases of this disease — typically it is only caught when you have suffered a fracture.
    • Lulu says:
      1. She doesn’t have osteoporosis.
      2. Those deficiencies can be cause by poor absorption due to any number of things, including food sensitivities.
      • alyson says:
        It can also be caused by nutritional deficiencies. At least according to my endocrinologist.
  72. Reese says:
    She is one of those people where she is just so GODDAMN ANNOYING, that her mere presence will ruin an entire movie for me. I LOVE the Iron Man films, but it kills me having to see her in all of them. She is just so “Look how awesome I am! Don’t you wish you could be like me? You should really try!”. Sick of this Holier than thou beyotch. Please go away.
  73. Mare says:
    “she won an Oscar by stealing her best friend’s script”
    Do you know how silly and naive this sounds? She stole the script from Winona and did what? Called the filmakers and said “I’ll do it”? And they just said ok without even talking to the actress they wanted for the role? It’s unbelievable what will people come up with when they don’t like someone.
    Also, those who say she “stole the Oscar from Cate Blanchett”? You may think Cate deserved it more that year (and I agree) but the Academy gave it to Gwyneth, she didn’t “steal” it.
    • Debbie says:
      Or Weinstein bought the Oscar for her (via a seriously intense campaign) because Gwyneth … er … hm … “had a very close working relationship” with Weinstein. Which is another fairly common rumor about what went down that year.
    • Ranunculus says:
      Is Winona not the one known for stealing – hmmm?
  74. scarlett says:
    Actually, I find her way more insufferable now then she ever was at 26, Oscar notwithstanding. Elitist, judgmental..especially in relation to child rearing. She may pretend to keep it somewhat real but you know she scoffs and sneers at the plebian mothers who can’t get their children into elitist pre-schools and feed their children chicken mcnuggets. Even her own husband finds her insufferable. He and Ben Affleck should form a miserable husband’s club.
  75. Trillion says:
    That “once you’re A-List” comment is super mean when you consider it was delivered to Courtney Love…
  76. tmbg says:
    It’s suddenly all over the news that she miscarried what was to be her third child. She made some comments about Chris that sounded foreboding and I wouldn’t be surprised if they split up. They were nice comments, but they sounded like something you’d say after you got separated.
    • Lemony says:
      I saw that too, & I agree about the foreboding tone. While I’m not a worshipper of Le Goop, I feel sad for her & anyone else who has gone thru the pain of a miscarriage. Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.
  77. Baskingshark says:
    A casting director once told me “The funniest thing about Shallow Hal is the casting of Gwyneth Paltrow as the embodiment of inner beauty.”
  78. Cirque28 says:
    Goop wasn’t remotely threatening in her 20s. She was this hunched over, scrawny, stringy haired girl who seemed insecure and uncomfortable in her own skin.
    Actually, she’s far better looking now. She stands up straight now and lets her Goopy flag fly. How this translates into more sisterhood, IDK. Maybe her female friends consider her arrogance an adorable peccadillo, e.g.: “She’s yammering on again about where to find scholarly titles on Cultural Theory, whatever, pass the margaritas Gwynnie. Yes hon, we know you harvested the salt yourself because that’s better, just hand ’em over.”
  79. Debbie says:
    You know what I wonder? Why these four quotes? I mean, could you pick four quotes more likely to make her seem completely obnoxious? It seems like something you’d do to an interview subject you loathed.
  80. mimi says:
    People are going overboard.
    I am sure she has gone through a lot of pain.
    Losing a parent and watching them go through a terrible disease is horrendous.
    If you hadn’t been through this, do not speak of others who has.
    Her father did not get to meet her children and that painted I’m sure every happy occassion such as a birthday party or a holiday with sadness.
    Her mom became a widow and watching the once happy home your parents had become this lonely and sad place is tragic.
    Having money has nothing to do with how devastating that is.
    I also think she is living through pretty bad marriage and a lousy husband who never seems around.
    Being a de facto single parent must suck even if you have money.
    It must be very lonely and hard to raise children alone and live with a man who doesn’t seem to love you or care for you (or enough to be there present to raise the kids).
    I’m sure being mocked by so many strangers on the internet can’t be too enjoyable.
    So she is not allowed to be honest and say the truth about how she feels?
    I’m sure women were jealous of her in her 20s and 30s, and yes, people are threatened by beautiful women. She was very successful and no doubt people can be jealous about the combination of that.
    I don’t think she is fun and cool and I imagine hanging with Drew Barrymore would be much more fun, and her “friendship” with Byonce reeks out of interests and seeking famous stars to increase your star power and fame but the Gwyneth hate is really over the top and I think you guys are ignoring things that are real and I do believe her in these statements.
    Finally an actor who says something real and exposes how she feels and you guys are all over her.
    I’m sure she would not befriend Byonce had she worked in her local supermarket.
    I’m sure she would not trail after Chris Martin had he not been a famous singer (“musician”, whatever).
    Having said that, I believe her other statements.
    • SageM says:
      Meh
    • Good guy says:
      Good to see a real woman with heart in the otherwise ocean full of gossiping shallow superficial women who are quick to point at others but not themselves!
      Even I think her marriage is for namesake… Her husband looks like a serial cheater. Guess she is not breaking it for the sake of children….
    • Lulu says:
      I agree. She makes all of those comments because she is incredibly unhappy and insecure.
      I feel sorry for her.
  81. Anne says:
    Y’all are crazy, that’s Beyonce on the cover, not Goop!
  82. Anne says:
    What are you guys talking about, that’s Beyonce on the cover, not Goop!
  83. Adrien says:
    When I turn 40, I wanna look like Sofia Vergara or Cate Blanchett. I don’t want to look like I’m 25, I want to look like a fabulous 40 year old. Gwyneth and Madonna show us that you cannot fight the aging process no matter how sophisticated your diet and fitness regimens are. You can only look great at your age but you can never look younger than you really are (unless you are Asian or Italian). Sure, Gwyneth looks fitter and prettier than some 25 year old women I know but she still looks 40 to me.
  84. GeeMoney says:
    Wow… lots of people hate Gwyneth.
    I personally do think that she’s a little stuck up and snobby, but she dresses well and regardless of what everyone says, I thought that she deserved her Oscar for Shakespeare in Love (Cate Blanchett was very worthy that year, too).
    And, her mom was AWESOME as Will’s mom on Will and Grace, lol.
  85. HK9 says:
    LMAO! Yes, you’re less threatening now that we know you’re not that smart or talented, and completely obsess/abuse food like the rest of the “little people” out there.
  86. ??? says:
    Meh. Never cared for her. Is she still even considered to be on the radar?
    Her mom is lovely, though.
  87. kct says:
    Cover photo doesn’t really look like her but then again, I rarely see her smile. My first thought was it looks like a mixture of her and Cameron Diaz.
  88. Sara says:
    Although I would never dare say what she said, I am sure that when she won that Oscar @ 26 there was a lot of jealousy. It IS Hollywood after all.
  89. Chicoulina says:
    I thought that was Cameron Diaz on the cover until I saw the title with her name.
  90. NeoCleo says:
    Well, she’s definitely a much bigger a-hole.
  91. Shelly says:
    This bitch needs a laxative…a huge dose at that cause she’s full of shit.
  92. Katie says:
    You guys are hilarious. Maybe she should confess to bribing her children with candy so you can all leave effusive comments about how you do the same thing, too. I can’t stand Gwyneth, either, but at least she’s honest about who she is.
  93. Gio says:
    This woman is beyond annoying. Can she just go live a happy, healthy life and provide her pearls of wisdom and self reflection to her inner circle cause the rest of us don’t care what she has to say.
