Kaiser wrote that these photos were “amazing” and that “she looks 50 years old.” Well that makes sense, because Courtney’s husband, Doug Hutchison, is 53 years old and is said to control every aspect of her life. Neighbors of Courtney and her husband/dad claim that Doug “drinks day and night” and that he’s often heard loudly arguing with Courtney.

I believe this. If Courtney’s extreme age difference with her husband and bizarre appearance didn’t convince you that she’s in an unhealthy relationship, this video of her in goth garb as an alter ego calling herself a “slut” who moved to Hollywood “to marry some old, washed up, D-List, saggy-balled actor” will do it. She made that back in March, and of course her enabling manager mom dismissed it, calling it “funny” and “edgy.” There’s nothing funny or edgy about this whole sketchy situation, but this girl is 18 years old and her only life skill involves wearing lucite heels and posing in a bikini. She probably is unable to take care of herself and I doubt she could divorce this guy and get any support from her parents. They’re the ones who thought it was perfectly fine that she marry a 50-something washed up actor in the first place.
I don’t know why this didn’t occur to me much earlier, but Courtney’s mom probably set her up with Doug from the get-go, right? This wasn’t a situation where these two found each other online like they’re claiming, I bet her mom planned it all and pimped Courtney out to these creeper in some grand scheme to make her daughter a “star.” Look how that’s working out. Courtney is playing the role as she’s expected to, but I just feel sorry for her.
Update: I just read over on Starcasm that Courtney announced to E! news that she has a sex tape. Of course she does. She said it’s “not out in the media” or on her computer and adds “I don’t want to put any images in people’s mind; I’m gonna leave it up to you guys to think what you want.” She claims she’s not going to release it (unless the money is right) claiming that “this is personal.” Isn’t that what Farrah Abraham said too? Courtney claims It’s “just me… I turned 18 in August, so you do the math.” If she has no plans to release it, why did she wait until she was 18 to make the tape?

It is very disheartening that, as a teacher in a Sydney primary (elementary) school, I often hear girls saying they just want to be famous when they leave school. On further questioning, they are not participating in dance, singing, music or acting classes in order to hone any talent. No, they just want to be famous, and three, just this year, have told me they are prepared to do anything to be famous. Obviously, they are only 11-12, so they might eventually get a clue, but I see the way they and their mums dress and behave, and it is quite troubling.
Australia, given its geography and relaxed attitudes, was somewhat more insulated against this type of thinking, ambition and adulation of celebrities like the girl above ( I know nothing about her, apart from what I’ve read here today). However, with so easily accessible technology and media, this has really changed.

He wasn’t a great actor. He was Percy in The Green Mile. He’s done nothing of note before or after. He’s always had a very troubled past with women and his family. Dude has a million issues! As for what he’s said about Courtney’s dresses. He’s full of it. He said that for the show to make him seem sympathetic. That this was her decision and he didn’t force her to dress like that. His actions told a different story. He was proud when men stared. He had a creepy smile on and wanted them to be jealous.

If you assume that Stodden’s mother (and/or father, i domt know if he’s in the picture or not) gained something from the marriage, which is the assumption most people here are making (not without cause) then yes it essentially is trafficking. Trafficking is the trade in human beings. It doesn’t have to be across borders, it can be when your mother sells you a fat creepy old man. The payment also doesn’t need to be cash. This is an area I’ve worked in quite extensively both domestically and internationally. You’d be horrified how many parents in developed first world nations do this. One of the earliest cases I worked on involved a middle class English mother who had sold both her daughters to deviant men. One was sold after she was legally able to wed (with parental permission) so technically she couldn’t be charged with that one even though it was patently obvious the poor girl had been groomed for it her entire life and was to all extents and purposes a slave. If Stoddens mother had an explicit gain out of this then it IS trafficking. If she simply thought she could gain fame & fortune through it is not legally trafficking but it passes the moral definition of it in my book.

Good points, all. If I may chime in… I think there is confusion between empowerment and exploitation – of women. Sure, we have the right to embrace our sexuality, but selling that sexuality to the public and/or the highest bidder is not empowering, it’s prostitution. It’s empowering the men who want to use us for nothing more than their own gratification, or, in the case of those “skeezy agents,” it’s empowerment for themselves in the form of a quick buck at the expense of a woman’s reputation.
There’s this video on her YouTube channel, where she’s I guess emulating a cat? When I say emulating a cat I mean crawling around on all fours meowing, eating “cat food” and usually the litter box.
It is SO disturbing. Like, Anna Nicole Smith all f–ked up and wearing cat makeup levels of disturbing. I don’t recommend it, but if you google it, be prepared to either want to cry or be completely horrified and wondering wtf happened in her youth.

The way this girl tries to be all overly sexy and provocative, it’s like watching a kid play-act. Not that anyone would be shocked, but over-sexualization at a young age is a hallmark of sexual abuse. The more she tries the more lost she seems.
That this kind of utterly appalling situation can happen in what is supposed to be an enlightened time makes me ill. My take on this in 3 points:
Number one: her parents willfully and with dollar signs rolling up in their eyes created this pathetic creature without a morsel of care or remorse;
Number two: they found a predator/ partner in her husband who is gleefully going along with the game of creating this sad creature and prostituting her for money;
Number three: the American public has an insatiable appetite for what amounts to nothing more than the basest sort of sexually predatory voyeurism.
She’ll never know what it is to have a normal, healthy relationship with a man, woman or parents, or anyone who tries to get close to her. Or even herself for that matter. She’ll always see herself as nothing more than one step up from a blow-up rubber doll. She’s going to end up on the trash heap of life (hello Anna Nicole Smith folks…) either dead or so messed up she’ll be on meds and psychiatric care for the rest of her sad, sad life. God I hate the human race sometimes….

I still don’t understand the shoes. Someone pointed out that they’re actually more comfortable than regular heels, since your foot is really only inclined at a two or three inch heel angle and rest on a wide platform. But why does she want the extra height? They remind me of a toy for kids, platforms with straps, kind of stilts without as much risk.

Her husband said something really interesteing when he and Courtney were on “Couples therapy” last season, He said that she’s not “damaged” like all the other women he had dated before. Well DUH, I am sure the women you have dated at one time were 16 and had they met some guy your age at that time who wanted to take up with them, the older men in question would have been able to say the same thing as well about them at that age. It sounds like he’s saying he wants her to stay ignorant and dependent.

I wrote a paper on celebrity gossip, media and culture and in it I talked about Courtney Stodden. When my teacher read it, he said, “I love how much you hate Courtney Stodden.” I had to explain to him that I don’t Courtney, I hate what she’s been turned into, I hate her image, and so-called claim to fame. I hate what she represents. I hate the idea that a young woman could be made famous because at sixteen, her parents were willing to let her marry a fifty-one year old actor in order to make her famous. I hate that in order to continue her fame, she feels the needs to dress/act/be as overtly sexual as possible and follow only the most superficial standards of attractiveness and that her parents encourage this. I hate that she is sold on her sexuality and little to nothing else. I hate all of that. But Courtney herself, the person behind all the disturbing Lolita bullshit, I pity a great deal.
The real people I hate are her parents and disgusting husband. They seem so happy to have this young girl basically exhibit and cater to the worst of society’s prejudices and fixations when it comes to young women: They go on about her having been a virgin until she was married in order to cater to outdated sexual double standards, especially regarding a girl’s purity while also encouraging her to dress in as little as possible and project a freakishly sexual image in order to commodify her sexuality. These two attitudes—- the “good christian virgin” stuff and the overt sexuality and commodification basically boil down to all her worth being based on her sexuality. Her image is that of overt sexuality devoid of any agency, sexual or otherwise on her part.
At least real porn stars tend to know what they are doing and usually weren’t pushed into it by their parents, nor are their parents usually capitalizing on their careers. Courtney, on the other hand…
It’s gotten to the pont where I’m hoping one of two things happen: 1) It turns out this was all some sort of crazy performance art or 2) It turns out that those leeches aren’t really her parents, that Courtney was really kidnapped as a baby from a true, loving family that finally gets her back, out of that marriage and into therapy. And Doug goes to jail as well since their marriage would be legally void since Courtney’s TRUE parents never signed off on it.
I know those are just fantasies, but still…
These people have probably never even heard of shame.
