I’m glad she’s getting help. I had a friend with bipolar who went off his meds, in fact left them on the floor in the middle of a Wal Mart, and then proceeded to completely alienate himself from everyone by his actions. He would send me letters full of things about time travel (a la Donnie Darko)with little drawings that didn’t make sense. He wound up in jail, then in a homeless shelter for a year and basically had to rebuild his life. Very sad indeed since before he went off his meds he was completely normal and a great guy. I wish the best for Amanda.
I’m certainly not an expert and can’t say whether or not such a comorbidity is possible, but I think it is HIGHLY unlikely. The way I understand it, the DSM-IV excludes a diagnosis of bipolar if it is “superimposed” with schizophrenia and it also excludes a diagnosis of schizophrenia if schizoaffective disorder of a mood disorder with psychotic features could be a more appropriate diagnosis.
I know that the DSM-5 is adjusting the criteria for schizoaffective disorder because it was previously somewhat unclear which resulted in overdiagnosis, but I would think it is far more likely she would be diagnosed with either schizoaffective disorder or bipolar disorder with psychotic features and that whoever leaked this info was not well informed of the diagnostics.
Like I said, I could be totally wrong, but that “dual diagnosis” definitely seemed off to me. Either way, it’s sad that her private medical information is being leaked to the public.

My friend’s nephew was schiz…and while in his 20’s, he committed suicide. He stood in front of a train.
And a former neighbor, also schiz…jumped off the top of a building. His father wrote that he suffered from auditory hallucinations.
It’s a very serious illness.

B) I feel bad for Amanda Bynes. But at least she’s getting help. I have been diagnosed with depression, but I’m starting to think I have Bipolar II. I go from really depressed days to being rather hyped up, extra creative, then agitated with everything and then to sad again. Not fun.
Really? I am related through marriage to a large Italian family and they certainly think of themselves as a distinct culture/race. Greeks, as well.
A race is like Caucasian, asian, etc. isn’t it? I’m pretty sure their race is considered Caucasian.
They ARE a very distinct culture of people, but I really don’t see how they can pull a race card.
Culture and race are two completely different things. Italian or Greek would be an ethnicity. Not a race.
That’s so surprising. They think of themselves as not-Caucasian, but otherwise undefined.
Italian is an adjective. The noun is Italy. Italy is a nation-state. It is not a race.
White is an adjective. The noun is whites. People who are white belong to a race. There is no White nation, despite what the KKK thinks.

Usually I like her style but this dress is very 80’s and cheap looking and how wrinkled it is is ridiculous.
Disagree on the dress. It’s entirely wrong for her body type -makes her look stumpy and pregnant. It’s a pretty color, but made for a totally different figure.
I just can’t with Julianne. She does not know how to dress herself to save her life.

Well, assuming Amanda quits putting herself out there, they should have no problem with privacy.
If these diagnoses are correct, she is severely mentally ill and is incapable of making these decisions – someone needs to make them for her.

I really have begin to wonder, if Amanda Bynes took/inhaled/shot up some bad sh*t. And permanently cooked her brain.
I just think there is more to her mental lapse issues, than suddenly she is bi-polar. It just seems to be something deeper with her.
I’m not sure what use this will be but my aunt seemed perfectly fine until the age of forty where she lapsed into bi polar and had extreme fits of mania. Granted, she did not burn anyone’s driveway but she did write screwed up stuff, almost pushed her 70 year old mother down the stairs (someone stopped her) and began stalking Alec Baldwin.
Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia very frequently show up in teenagers and young adults.
She has been hearing voices for awhile and had some mental health issues as a late teenager.
The average age of onset for both schizophrenia and bi-polar is 25 in women.
I was surprised to learn that there’s evidence that marijuana can act as a trigger for mental illnesses including schizophrenia. I have nothing against pot or most other drugs, really, but there is a risk factor there for some people who are predisposed.
The Italian Americans need to stfu. Every “race” and/or ethnic group gets made fun of and put in a bad light in Hollywood movies and movies in general in America.
Well, most anyway. Jews not so much but the rest of us have to put up with a lot of that, especially if you’re a double minority.
I would like to see her again in movies. I really enjoyed “Safe Haven”. I became a fan of her. I would like to see her again as guest dancer in “DWTS” but not as a judge.
I am soooo uncomfortable with leaks about Amanda Bynes’s diagnosis, but at the same time really glad she’s getting help. That was so scary and messed up and public, I guess she couldn’t just disappear and get well. Maybe we’ll hear about it one day in her words. Poor gal.

Julianne looks awful in that dress and the dress looks like something from the Sears catalog Prom section. Maybe it’s just the lighting but it really looks bad. She’s still beautiful though.
