One of the things I’ve noticed about Brangelina news is that they could have just made some throw-away comment on a random red carpet, and nearly every celebrity news site covers it like it’s gold. So it goes with these two little nuggets of Brangelina gossip, condensed for your reading pleasure. OK! has quotes from Angelina about their film-promoting duties in Japan, and People has information about Angelina’s SAG card.
[Brangelina] — and their six children — are jetting off to Japan Monday morning, only hours after Brad and Angie put in appearances at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night.
“Our kids are always packing,” Angelina told Entertainment Tonight about globetrotting with six young children. “They like to pack; it’s a game in our house.”
However, all that back and forth across time zones can wreak havoc with a family’s daily routine. “It can get very hard trying to find 20 minutes to close your eyes if you’ve been up since four in the morning,” revealed Angie. But rather than trying to use sleep to make up for all the time differences they experience, she says, “We travel so much, we never have to adjust. We change school time to four in the afternoon in we have to!”

Oh, Angelina. I wish I was her publicist, I would make her stop saying this stuff that freaks people out. She should have started her sentence with “lately”, as in “Lately, our kids are always packing…” because they have been moving around a lot lately. I bet those kids are looking forward to a long film shoot with Salt, though. Angelina also talked to People magazine last night about her mom and her SAG card.
Angelina Jolie likes to please her fans, but respect from her peers is just as important, she says.
“It means a great deal,” the actress told PEOPLE Sunday night of the SAG Awards, “especially because it is the people you respect and your fellow actors. You know they really understand your work when they watch it. They don’t look at it just as a movie. They understand the technique behind performance.”
Jolie was nominated for her leading role performance in Changeling, but Meryl Streep took home the Actor for Doubt.
The actress has an almost wistful devotion to her Screen Actors Guild card, she adds, because of her mother, Marcheline Bertrand, who passes away two years ago from ovarian cancer.
“My mother was an actress and didn’t get to have a big career, but she was so proud to be a member of SAG and so proud of her card and her union.”
As a young actress starting out, she recalls, “I was so happy when I finally got my card!”

That’s actually one of my favorite parts of the SAG awards, getting to hear actors talking about the start of their careers and how they got their union cards. Most of red carpet interviewers asked that question, and it’s fun to watch respected actors pretend they can’t remember that they got their cards on a Doritos commercial, or doing some guest spot appearance on some basic-cable soft-porn show. I believe Angie’s first movie was Cyborg 2, in case anyone’s interested. So she probably got her card by playing a robot. Classic.

Actually I like that she doesn’t edit herself – or perhaps she does and THIS is her edited version! She’s just telling it like it is. If people want to get excited about the ‘shockingly’ nomadic life they lead, they will anyway.

Yeah, I have different “techniques” when I pretend too. Like, right now, I’m pretending to be working. My boss can see my face but not my screen. So as I type this I squint a couple times to make it look like I’m concentrating hard. Now I’m tapping on my calculator, I pause, frown slightly, tap again, now I’ve resumed typing.

They’ve said France is their home base. The kids know that and I’m sure that helps with all the travelling around.
They’re like a rich gypsy family
I’m not a fan, but we live a similar lifestyle. My husband and I are writers and travel with the kids. They are privately tutored and extremely well-adjusted. We have fun and live life to the fullest. How is that shocking?
The jet lag must be a bitch, but I bet the kids have a blast seeing new places and cultures.
I can see the girls pulling with their wheeled pink sparkle camouflage suitcases.
If they’re kept on the same basic time schedule, which is what I got from Angelina’s statement, there wouldn’t be much in terms of jet lag. It’s not like they’re in the kind of plane us little people have to fly on! Stuffed in like sardines! If the time schedule the kids are set on means that 4pm is their body’s 8am, then school starts at 4pm, it sounds perfectly logical to me. It’s so funny to me that some people think these kids are being so abused by travelling. More than likely these kids are more socialized than a number of kids who grow up in the same place their whole lives. There’s more to being well adjusted than seeing the same things on your way to school everyday.

and they need parents who are actually there for them, not a steady stream of different nannies and security people.
Diva you’re right. Plus, these kids have seen the world, and know more than any person who has lived in the same place their entire life. I think it’s a bit of envy. After all, being rich, famous, beautiful, with a beautiful partner, and a lot of healthy kids is the dream almost everybody has.

LOL. Their oldest child is 7 years old and already speaks English, French, and the language of Cambodia. The next oldest child is 5 and speaks English, some French, and the language of Vietnam. The other kids are 4, 2 and 6 months old. They have tutors for the kids when they are travelling just like Will Smith, Dustin Hoffman, Matt Damon and many others. Most importantly for their kids their parents are always with them, and these kids are not being raised by nannies or BGS but by their 2 parents. The kids are not stuck somewhere away from their parents for weeks and months at a time. All the travelling lately is mostly because both Brad and Angelina have been nominated for all kinds of awards this year and they have flown back and forth from Berlin where they lived for 3+ months while Brad worked in a film. Before that the family was in France for 5 months. I see nothing to complain about, living in one place does not 100% ensure a stable and happy child. How easy for some to judge others they do not even know by their own draconion standards.
I think it is terrible and reckless that they travel with small children like they do. I wonder if anyone has done a study on a childs developing brain and flights and all that pressure that goes on during a flight??? Just a thought. I think this family is so selfish and they only think of themselves…not the children at all.
At least they take their children with them. I think it would be much worse for the kids if they were left at home with the nannies and staff while Mom and Dad jet-setted around and did their own thing. That strikes me as a great deal more selfish than having your children move around a lot.
In fact, I know several of my children’s friends who live in a nice house, all safe and secure, go to school every day, etc., who I consider completely neglected by parents who spend their days working and their nights out with friends and who constantly shuffle their kids off to classes or babysitters or what have you all the time and rarely spend any real time with their kids.
There are many ways to harm a child…geography is not the issue.
I see that she is the one that is the target for most bit*ching about the traveling, when they travel a lot for Brad’s work too. If she stops filming for a long time, they will still be traveling on behalf of Brad. It is the same thing, and I do not think for a minute that they are the family that travels the most in HW or in all the USA, let alone in the circles of the rich and famous. True, many of them really let the kids be raised by nannies or in some boarding school… then what is the point of having kids?
Even working parents maybe spend less time with their kids everyday than these jP children, who (they say) mostly have a parent to be with (in hiatus from work) while the other works. Sounds fine to me, even if they travel.

Being up for an acting award when she is one of the worst actresses in H-wood (but happens to be part of a very popular couple) is insulting to all the REAL actresses out there who are worth a damn. She’s a skanky ex-druggie who collects children instead of things and never manages to take any time off to spend with them despite the fact that she and Brad have more than enough money. “Home is where the heart is.” It’s not difficult for children to travel a lot before adolescence, after which they do need more stable education and socialisation with their peer-group. Also, if the film moguls didnt insist on all the global promotion, I dont think Brad or Angelina would wish to be in so many different places in such a short space of time; I dont think they’ll plan to do so many different films each within such a space of time in the future.
They both have so much money…..but they insist on traveling and yanking their children all over. I think it all comes down to being afraid to let the other one out of sight…once a cheater always a cheater.

I agree that ‘home is where the heart is’. There are many people who travel with children like that (not just actors – or AJ herself).
Do you criticize them as well? Probably not. I would love to give my children the opportunity to travel the world and learn about new cultures. I love her interviews – and I love that she says what she feels and doesn’t apologize for anything in her life. She’s a strong woman and some people just can’t handle that.

I think, to be fair, that this is just a bad picture of her (bad angle, wierdly lit, etc.) Since I have had pictures taken of me that I swear I look 20 years older in, I’m sure it could even happen to Angelina Jolie!
