We so rarely get paparazzi candid shots of Eddie Vedder, I just thought these would be a special treat for you this (Hot Guy) Friday. Eddie and his Pearl Jam bandmates got pap’d outside of their hotel in NYC yesterday. I’m only including photos of Eddie because A) I glanced through the photos of Stone Gossard, Mike McCready, et al and I was SHOCKED to see how f—king old they looked and that depressed me and B) Eddie Vedder is aging like a fine wine. Eddie is 48 YEARS OLD. WTF? He still looks 30-something to me.
God, do you even know how obsessed I was with Pearl Jam in my youth? I still remember (vividly) the first time I saw the video for “Alive” on MTV, and yes, I know that totally dates me. I’m in my 30s!! Deal with it. I was a tween, I think, and I didn’t care for boy bands or hair bands or most pop stars (although I did have an undying love for Janet Jackson, although I couldn’t admit that to my alt-rock tween friends). You know how old I am? My first copy of Pearl Jam’s Ten was a cassette!! YES. I’m so old that I can remember taping (on VHS!) MTV’s Pearl Jam Unplugged. Memories…
Anyway, now I’m turned on by how hot Eddie looks but I’m also depressed by how old I am and how old the Pearl Jam guys are. When did that happen? Sigh… I need to listen to more Pearl Jam.

Yes yes yes!! My fave was/is Jeff! I just saw them last week for my 16th show. Love PJ so much!
LOVE Jeff! Such a chill, awesome guy.
Seeing my 20th show tonight! They are a great live band.
Eddie’s face usually looks too puffy for me, though; I think it’s the booze. Cut out the drinking, however, and I could be convinced …
I always thought Matt Cameron was the best looking.
I love Pearl Jam, although Ten came out 2 years before I was born.
Don’t say that, you’re making me cry! Grumble whippersnappers grumble.
I still think of Matt Cameron as Soundgarden’s drummer, which I guess he is again now.
OMFG, this dude looks exactly like my neighbour!! I know “of” Eddie but I never really studied his face, but holy crap, they are twins!! Creepy.
Girl, if your neighbour looks like that you get over there and borrow a cup of sugar if you know what I’m sayin’ and I think you do….
I had a SERIOUS jones for Eddie Vedder back in the day. The Evenflow video set me on FIRE for him and Pearl Jam. Yep, I’d do him anytime/place/where.
Yep. Love Eddie. Wish there were more bands like Pearl Jam out there instead of the talentless hacks making millions today.
Ugh I know right? I feel old but it’s true, “they just don’t make artists like they used to.” How many of these pop stars on today’s Top 40 radio are going to still be around and producing great,well-written music in 20 years like PJ? Besides Adele and T-Swift rambling on about her fifth husband, I’d say slim to none.
There is amazing music out there, but yeah, the bad stuff is just shoved down out throats more.
Save for a very few new artists that crop up very rarely, in my opinion music is in a very disastrous free fall. I am buying more and more older stuff from the 60’s and 70’s lately. I have only bought a few new things like Lorde. It makes me very sad the turn most music has taken and also that teenagers have no idea what real music even sounds like anymore.
There IS great music out there – you just have to turn off the pop music. Pearl Jam, although mainstream, always had an alt rock vibe. (Still do, & they’re getting played on alt rock stations) It annoys me when I hear “music used to be SO much better” – there was shitty 90s music too, that was also popular – there’s lots of great stuff out there, it’s just not being played on MTV.
There is truly awesome music out there. You just have to give up the spoonfeed. Anyway, Eddie looks great, esp for 58. Love how happy he looks.
Yes. Just because he is who he is and i always do scruff. That and his Jordans lol
“Society, society, hope you’re not lonely
Without me…”
One of his best songs…
Always a Pearl Jam fan (yup, had them on cassette too), love Eddie’s solo work…. Remember the music for the soundtrack of Tim Burton’s Big Fish? shivers-down-spine kind of good. LOVE him – and he has that “old rockers just get better with age” look. Not too many of them have it. Bruce has it….
Apologies if I got the lyrics wrong – I’m thinking of the music for “Into the Wild”….. the song “Society”. I could listen to that a bazillion times and never tire…
Into the Wild soundtrack is the best eva!! It’s always on my road-trip playlist. And I LOVE road trips!
The played Man of the Hour (from Big Fish) at the show we went to. The man sitting next to my husband was weeping uncontrollably. I didnt know if I should hand him a tissue or give him a hug.
Wow.
I think “Man of the hour” really resonated with me at the time as (a) my father has always reminded me of Albert Finney – or vice versa; and (b) my Dad was going through a tough cancer battle at the time. That song just nailed it, emotionally, for – anyone with a father.
Oh…love him, love PJ, love Into The Wild soundtrack…but Ol’ Ed did not write that song.
XOXO
The new album is really awesome! Ed Ved is one of my forever dudes. The love will never die.
Totally agree. Grunge, plaid shirts, Birkenstocks, Lollapalooza, Pearl Jam, Eddie Vedder, etc., are the 90’s and were my college and early working years. LOVE IT!
Yep! Those were my college days, too (I graduated in 1994). I miss the 90’s! The good old days…
I tried to get Pearl Jam tix for Baltimore (they are playing here next week) but they sold out too quickly.
He looks good. It’s freakining depressing to see our Rock heros get old, you said u were in ur 30s, I’m in my 40s so mine are not only old their dropping like flies. 🙁
Or turn into pretentious douchenozzles, like the once-delectable Chris Cornell.
NO YOU ARE NOT FORGIVEN CHRIS
MY HEART IS BROKEN
Ugh, Chris Cornell. His true colors really, truly depress me.
What has he done? I am clueless. I have always loved him. Don’t give me the sads he is now a sell out?!
Timbaland album. That restaurant in Paris where all the food is overpriced American fast food painted black. Lyrics and emo 15-year-old would be ashamed of. Ugh.
In the later years I always call Chris Cornell Pretty Boy Floyd. He went through this massive overhaul looks wise and got all prettied up. Such a shame.
Exactly, Embertine! Chris Cornell has possibly my favorite rock voice of all time, and he had to go and do that terrible album and creepy video where he is the old guy in the club. Listen to Chris Rock! Don’t be the old guy in the club!!!
I never got over Chris dumping Susan Silver for a younger version of her and acting for all intents and purposes like his daughter with Susan doesn’t exist.
Yeah, I was way too involved in these people’s lives.
Oh, ick! I knew about him dumping Susan, and wasn’t pleased, but didn’t know he doesn’t see their daughter. I hate it when people I admire have gross personal lives. I’m not even sure how they do it. I feel guilty if I forget to say please and thank you!
Susan had a really hard time getting pregnant, too. She was probably better off without him. At that time he had a really bad drinking problem.
Hell yes I would hit it!!!!! He still has it! Remember the movie Singles? He was in it, along with all the big bands of the nineties. I was obsessed with that movie. I wanted to live, in Seattle, work in a coffee shop and bone a loser drummer. I boned a loser drummer, but the rest didn’t pan out.
And the soundtrack still holds up.
Hell yes the Singles soundtrack still holds up! God, I still listen to it all the time.
Dude, “Singles” was the sh*t when it came out. And the soundtrack will ALWAYS rock. I still don’t understand why MLB never got any real mainstream recognition, though… That being said, I will always love PJ, and this is the best pic of Eddie I’ve seen in a looooooooooong time!
Omg me too!! I love that movie and soundtrack (still
Do). State of Love and Trust is my all time fave pearl jam song!
One of the best soundtracks EVER.
Yes that soundtrack is still holding it’s on but tbe best all time CD by PJ was 10. The song Black is still so hunting.
Eddie was always my favorite and yes he still looks good.
He has always been one of my rock crushes. I love masculine + sensitive/artistic. Kills me every time. Saying that he looks like he’s still in his thirties is a bit of a stretch, but I would peg him as a fine-assed 41 or so. I think he will always be a hottie.
I actually listened to the Singles soundtrack the other day and it’s still awesome!
I’m so glad to see that I’m in good company with my eternal love for Eddie Vedder and Pearl Jam. I’m taking my 17yo stepson to see them live in December. I told him it’s a manditory part of his quality rock n roll education – he must know Pearl Jam!!! I also bought him the greatest hits cd and told him to study it religiously so he can sing along with the rest of us at the show. This will be my 6th PJ concert!
He looks great!!
Something about his eyes here reminds me of Chris Martin.
Very talented guy.
I was thinking he looks just like the guy who played Desmond on Lost. I’d hit it. Both of ’em actually.
He looks good. But I’m more for the fellas in Alice in Chains, still.
Yesss love the men from Alice in Chains!
A hell yes to that!
I miss Layne’s voice so much. Huge AIC fan here
LOVE Alice in Chains. I just found my Dvd copy of their Unplugged show… amazing. Though it was depressing to see what bad shape Layne Staley was in, his voice was still incredible.
I was there! first and last time I saw Layne. Love to Alice!
I was inconsolable when they found Layne.
I really like that AiC took a long break and went with someone with a totally different voice when they picked back up. The new stuff is great.
I met him once. He was a gentle soul. RIP Layne.
It would fulfil all my middle school dreams, so yes, yes I most definitely would hit it.
Yes! I love Eddie!
I’ve always thought he was pretty fly for a white guy. I used to love Pearl Jam – and this thread has inspired me to play some right now. Thanks!
Awesome voice. Nineties Forever.
I was going to say the same thing but didn’t want to date myself. Lol.
Great band, great talent, stands alone without gimmicks.
“Animal” was the first Pearl Jam song I heard. “12345 against one…” One of my friends was obsessed with Eddie and got me onto them.
We were in the centre front row at one of the Melbourne concerts. Eddie looked at my friend and I amongst crazy people body surfing in the moshpit and said “what the hell are you two girls doing here?”. A fond moment.
But I digress. Eddie looks good. Am off to watch some of their songs now on You Tube. Good memories 🙂
Oh hell yeah I’d hit that. Vedder is sn always and forever guy.
Saw them in 1992 when they started with Ten and then last week in NY. I adore them and Eddie. I would hit it with a mack truck!! He is beautiful inside and out. He is perfect.
Was never an Eddie fangirl but he does look good here, and I’m so happy that they are still together and rocking on. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to karaoke at my cat.
Sooooonnnnn…. she said. Have a got a little story for yooooouuuu….
What you thought was your dad-dyyyyy….
Classic, still gives me chills!
Hell yeah.
Btw, I love Alive but it’s a deeply deeply disturbing song if you pay attention to the lyrics. Eddie Vedder said it wasn’t meant to be an uplifting song but the fans Interpreted it as such and sang along at the concerts and it changed his own perspective of the song. I always thought that was cool.
Yes, I love that. It was originally meant as “what right do I have to be alive?” and everyone singing along totally transformed it to a proud survivor song. I choke up every single time they play that.
In one interview by Eddie, he said the song Better Man gets played at weddings and he could never understand how, if someone actually listened to the song, they could think it’s an appropriate song to play at a wedding.
Yes! I only went on a date with my now husband because he looked exactly like Eddie Vedder! Love him. Always.
I would HIT IT all day long, twice on Wednesdays. I’m Class of ’93, first loves last a lifetime! ❤️
Any time, any day. Chris Cornell, too.
I would hit it so hard that something would break! I’m seeing PJ in concert tonight and I am SO EXCITED! This is a bucket list concert for me!
Enjoy the hell out of the show! Still reliving the London Ontario and Buffalo shows- could not cut my GA wristband off for 2 wks.. Lightning Bolt is fantastic! And YES I’d hit it!!!!!
Yep, always. He looks great! My awesome aunt bought Ten on cassette for me for Christmas when it came out. I was 11, blew my mind.
This post is funny timing cause I’ve actually been on a bit of a Pearl Jam kick lately. A few days ago I watched the Cameron Crowe directed documentary about them, Twenty, on Netflix. Awesome.
Even though I know there’s still good new music out there, mostly I listen to a lot of 90’s (and older) music. My local classic rock station now plays Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, etc… and it makes me feel ancient!
@Kaiser thank you for this post! We must be the same age because my copy of Ten was cassette, too. And I wore it out playing it. Was there ever a better time for music than the 90s? Methinks not. Eddie looks awesome. And to answer your question, YES!! like a screen door in a hurricane!!
He is looking great these days, he went through a period a few years back where he was looking pretty rough. To me, this is the sexiest live performance ever (too bad he’s tiny, like 5’6-I’m over 5’9, so he’s snack size for me). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFVlJAi3Cso
That’s too short. I know it sounds mean, but I am not interested in men who are just a few inches taller than me.
Not mean at all-most of Hollywood are mini people (men and women) but I was shocked to find out how tiny Eddie was given his huge stage presence. If he were over 6′ tall, I’d climb him like a tree and spread my monkey love all over that soulfull ass
I think he is more like 5’5. I stood next to him once and was nearly his height. (I am only 5’3.)
Yeah, I forgot to account for the fact that they almost always overestimate the height of male celebrities on sites like imdb (right, like Tom Cruise is 5’7″–more like 5’4″ in his lifts). He must look tiny in real person. I walked by George Clooney in a grocery store a few years ago and he was the approx size of my 10 year old niece. A sexy litle elf.
Hell yeah is hit that all day long. I love pj. He looks kinda like Bruce Springsteen. I’m from the grunge generation too. This makes me nostalgic for those days. I used to dress in jeans and flannel all the time I thought I was grunge. I still do sometimes. Long live grunge. Better than the crap they have on MTV today. I remember when mtv was cool. That was a long time ago. Now I feel old.
Yes, but I would have to work hard to ignore the fact that he now looks a teeny bit like John Favereau.
NGL, I would hit it with Jon Favreau. Guilty pleasure?
Wow. You know, I think he looks better now than he did way back when Ten came out. I found him unattractive then, but not now. And yeah, this article makes me feel my age. I was a sophomore in high school when Ten came out, I think (I’m 36 now). He definitely looks great, though. Good for him.
He’s maybe even sexier now. Especially wearing that rainbow loom bracelet that his kid must have made for him… (I have one just like it!)
Oh goodness, yes.
I love him! I’d hit that hard!
with his permission, of course. and if he is single.
Never cared for Pearl Jam but when I was in my early 20’s I worked with a guy that was his spitting image. It was uncanny. I went after that guy & HIT it. Foolish & a bit slutty of me but worth every second of it.
It seems fitting that Eddie Vedder being the hot guy friday that I’m wearing my Doc Martens today 😉
I never really had crushes on any of the grunge band guys but I love the music. I wore out my Singles cassette which I stole in 9th grade from Kmart.
OH the memories!
I was a teen, in the early 90s, in Seattle…so my obsession with Pearl Jam was and still is HUGE- the new album is really good. I listened to “Ten” on cassette so much that I actually broke my walkman (kids, that’s the old version of an iPod). My mother works at Children’s Hospital in Seattle, and one of her duties was to coordinate when celebs came to visit the kids- the Pearl Jam guys came pretty often in the 90s to hang with the teens, and Jeff Ament happened to be there on my 16th birthday and my mother asked him for an autograph for me, explaining it was my b-day. He actually sat down and made me a birthday card, drew a cover picture and wrote a great message inside. Then he apparently really hit it off with a teen in the hospital and went out to his car to get one of his guitars and gave it to the kid. It’s my fav Pearl Jam story.
Eddie Vedder is hot and I would hit that until I couldn’t move anymore!
Awesome story!
While I LOVE me some PJ and do not deny the awesomeness of Eddie, the answer is still and always has been nope.
I don’t remember who I was into BITD…I remember being SO much in love with Michael Hutch in middle school but I think I was over him by the time PJ and Seattle took over.
I believe that is when my “I hate the world” hormones kicked in. lol
YES YES YES YES YES YES YES…
That is all.
I did not find him hot back in the day but now that he’s channeling John Cusak I’d hit that with geek girl force.
I laughed a lot at this comment and am co-signing it with all of my might.
Oh Hell Yeah!
every day and thrice on sunday!
I remember when the first Pearl Jam album came out, ahhh I was in high school. I have had a crush on Eddie Vedder since then. He is one of my forevers…I would still hit it for sure. If anything, I think he has gotten better with age.
“Black” is one of my all time favorite songs.
Thanks for this post, it brought back so many memories…..the 90’s were full of some good times.
Now, I’m off to listen to some Pearl Jam 🙂
For Eddie Vedder, always a YES! I’ve loved him and PJ since 13yo me first heard “Even Flow” 20 years ago. I love he still kinda looks the same.
He’s an extremely talented songwriter, singer, & activist. PJ is the only 90s Seattle grunge band to keep on rocking in the free world!
Always and forever – it’s a deep abiding love for them and him in particularly. We have mutual friends who say he’s one of the nicest people you could ever meet. LOVE him. 😀 xxx
Again though, can we stop with the ‘hit it’ thing? 🙁
I saw him on tour last year, just him with his guitar, it was the best concert ever and yes I would hit it, marry it, have babies with it……
Sooooo hot!
I was in my 20’s when Pearl Jam rose to fame. I’m fortunate to have seen them live before and after they became famous. Eddie has and will always be so down to Earth with or without the fame and yes, he is gorgeous. His voice makes my knees weak. I have a fondness for musicians. I used to date them exclusively in my youth (and NO I was not a groupie but a girlfriend). Anyway, at one show Eddie jumped out into the crowd much to the chagrin of the bodyguards and people literally tore his clothes off. I got to touch him which I thought was cool and funny. Someone took his beloved jacket so when he got back on the stage he asked for it back and whoever had it threw it back to him. I have so many crazy stories about Vedder. He is/was a nut. I can’t believe he is 4 years older than I am because he does look so young. Probably really good genes. And yes, if I were single I would hit that like a house on fire!
Stone has always been my favorite. But I could listen to Eddie sing the phone book.
Ten came out the year I started high school and Pearl Jam is still one of my favorites. I’m still totally a grunge girl. And I always thought it was cool that they happened to release 2 of their albums, Ten and No Code, on my birthday – August 27. : )
I’d hit it like nobody’s business…..and he would need to sing to me at the same time. 🙂
Hmm I always found Eddie Vedder interesting. He looks very good. I’m in my 40 so Pearl Jam hit it big a bit late for my time, but I’ve kept up with their music.
I still love him and Pearl Jam, but I’ve never wanted to hit it. He’s looking great, though.
Ah, listening to this brings back the 90s. Loved that decade.
Yes and he’s wearing one of those rainbow loom bracelets that his kid obviously made. Adorable.
Yep, every day. Twice on Sundays
Yes.
Christ damnit that man gets more attractive every year! I saw him live in Amsterdam last year when he joined Tom Petty on stage; it was only singing the Heartbreakers stuff that I realised what an incredible voice he has!
HELL YES!!!!!!!!!!!
I just want to say this post made my day
Yes, yes a million times yes. uugggghhhhh so hot still!
I graduated high school in 1993. Just had my 20 year reunion. I loved Pearl Jam.
I hit my head very hard on a boat about a year and a half ago. I lost consciousness a few seconds after the impact – but before passing out, I remember thinking I did not want to die, I thought about my children, and Jesus. When I awoke, only moments later, I had a song playing in my head, Pearl Jam’s, “Alive.”
I kid you not. It was unreal. Apparently, their music saves lives.
Eddie looks great for his age, and he’s even better in real life. We had a chance meeting with him last year in Piha, New Zealand, where he has a home. He’d just come out of the surf and, wow. He was so nice to us, that my interest in him was rekindled. I’m older than him, but yeah, I’d tap that.
I would hit it all day, everyday. Twice on Sunday’s. I’ve loved him and his voice since the first time i heard the. (Early 90’s) and i always will.
No one compares to Vedder. No one
He’s ugly. I can’t believe I ever developed a thing for him (for two whole months back in the day). I was going through a phase of sorts….at least it wasn’t Nick Rhodes again.
Sings like a goat. Now he’s nicer since no one pays any attention to him…and oh yeah Pearl Jam.
I remember how upset my best friend was when Eddie Vedder cut his hair — her fantasies were destroyed! My friend passed away a few years ago — so seeing an old picture of long-haired Eddie always makes me happy/sad.
Always and forever. I love the song Long Nights: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mev_FBj0Fyk
Lots of good memories tied to Pearl Jam. Eddie is looking happy and healthy. Good for him.
Just saw them October 18 and 19th at Barclay Center. Damn good shows.
I would hit it in the morning.
and in the evening too.
I would hit it at noon,
and again real soon.
Oh sweet baby Jesus! Hells yay-ah I’d hit it—HARD! Wait–is he married? Only if he’s not married or has a girlfriend.
Yes. And all my teen girl fantasies would come true
Yes I would again. Even after all these years. He’s such a good man.
I’m right there with you. That voice…just transcends me to a safe and wonderful place brimming with memories. Seeing him now…he looks great but WHOA where has the time gone??? I thought he still looked like the video.
Actually he’s about to turn 49 – I was born in the same year, which is a cool coincidence. Just saw him in Baltimore and he ROCKED the house!
