Taylor Swift got a small part in the new movie The Giver that’s filming right now in South Africa. The Giver also features Meryl Streep, Jeff Bridges, Katie Holmes and Alexander Skarsgard. Some people have been wondering if something/anything would be happening between Skarsgard and… Katie Holmes and/or Taylor Swift. I wasn’t really paying attention to the speculation because from what I’ve seen of Alex’s taste in women, neither Katie nor Swifty is his type. He tends to go for very small, petite women and both Katie and Swifty are very tall. Plus… I don’t know, my gut just tells me that he wouldn’t be into it.
But of course some of the tabloids are trying to start something. The Sun (the UK tabloid) seemed to kick off speculation by announcing that “Before [Alex and Taylor Swift] left for Cape Town they had a couple of dinners in LA. He’s much older than the guys Taylor has dated in the past year but maybe that’s where she’s going wrong.” First of all, I do think Taylor should try dating some older guys. I think she should aim for late 20s, someone with his own sh-t going on who isn’t going to be at her beck and call. She needs to stop dating high schoolers. Full stop. As for Alex in particular… well, all I know is that two seconds after The Sun published that story, it got shot down officially:
Taylor Swift is NOT dating Alexander Skarsgard, despite a made-up rumor spread by Perez Hilton and other ill-informed bloggers. The alleged romance is said to have sparked as the stars began work on the movie The Giver in South Africa.
“Holy hot hellz!” writes Perez. “We soooo did not see this one coming, no matter how common it is for romances to start up on set.”

Maybe not, but Perez is completely wrong with this speculation. The rumor is 100 percent false.
A source close to Swift tells Gossip Cop the Skarsgard story is “completely fabricated.” Moreover, Swift and Skarsgard NEVER met up for dinners before arriving in South Africa. Oops.
Taylor’s rep also issued a general denial to all press outlets saying “Taylor never met Alexander before she arrived in South Africa, and they are not dating.” Tay-Tay is currently in LA, and I’m not sure where Alex is. He might still be in South Africa, although he’s going to spend a lot of time in the South Pole very, very soon when he leads a group of American serviceman on a Walk for the Wounded Challenge with Prince Harry and Dominic West. What I’m saying is that Alex doesn’t have time for these shenanigans.
But here’s the real question: why does it seem like Taylor’s people are going so hard and so fast after these really budget, easily ignorable tabloid stories? I mean, it’s not like it’s US WEEKLY saying it. It’s The Sun! My theory: Taylor tried to get Alex to pay attention to her and he was all, “Be gone, child.”

She needs to go back to older guys though – Jake Gyllenhaal, Garrett Hedlund, John Mayer, Cory Monteith were all late 20s or early 30s when she dated them.
A few photos of several of the cast leaving dinner surfaced a week or so ago, and as soon as they did, I knew this story would spring up. Sure enough! It’s pure BS.

Anyone else read The Giver??? I read it when I was around the age of the protagonist Jonas. It’s an interesting story, but most of the main characters are children around the age of 12.
So, I’m wondering who Taylor will be playing…
I assume Alex and Katie are playing Jonas’s mom & dad, but part of the dystopian world of The Giver is that children are assigned to a family, not born to their “mom”. Which makes me speculate on Taylor’s role…. Children are bred in laboratories and implanted into women called “birthmothers” who are considered simpletons not worthy of the more challenging roles in their society. The Birthmothers are unintelligent, chubby, dumpy women who give birth three times then retire… Is this the role that Taylor agreed to????
