California isn’t feeling the polar vortex, correct? I mean, I’m sure they’re a balmy 60 degrees or something, which is “freezing” for California. But how do you explain Elsa Pataky’s clothes in these photos? Why is she wearing so many layers? These are pics of Elsa, Chris Hemsworth, India Rose and some assorted family members out to lunch yesterday in Venice Beach. Elsa is wearing leggings, socks, boots, a dress/tunic, a mullet coat, and I’m guessing she’s probably wearing a bra and a tank underneath the tunic too. Too many clothes! Then look at Chris – he’s just bumming around in dad shorts, a tee and a flannel. Hippies.
Anyway, I just thought you’d like to see these new photos of the happy family. Elsa had toned down the happy family photo-ops for a while. There were no family shots while Chris was promoting Thor 2: The Dark Loki, and I think there were only a handful of candids when he promoted Rush. Things picked up a bit when Elsa and India came with Chris when he was filming In the Heart of the Sea, but the photo-ops were definitely taken down a notch. I guess they’ll pick up now that they’re back in LA and Chris isn’t currently working.
I should also say that I still believe that something funky happened with Chris and Elsa last year. He was working on Cyber for months, and that’s the time when Elsa went dark. I think it’s possible they were having marriage problems around then, and then when they reconciled or whatever, that’s when Elsa got knocked up.
PS… Many of you were hating on Elsa’s studded boots earlier this week. I don’t know, you guys. I kind of like them! I bet they’re comfortable and durable. And she’s super-preggo too, I bet she doesn’t want to wear heels or whatever.

She looks like the poor man’s Ivanka Trump to me. Also, I know we’re not supposed to judge other people’s parenting, but I always cringe when children that age are still sucking on a pacifier.
Except that you are judging. India was born in May 2012 so she isn’t even two years old yet. Maybe they have been trying to wean her off thumb-sucking and this is a transitional object? Maybe they have been trying to wean her off the pacifier and it’s not working? It’s not like she is five years old running around with it in her mouth. Ugh it really irks me when people judge stuff like this without knowing the story behind it.
@Lola I agree and as much as this is a celebrity gossip site, I think it’s a little OTT to judge the parenting of someone who hasn’t shown any evidence to suggest that she isn’t a devoted, hands-on mum.
Did I suggest they were negligent parents? No. I said it makes me cringe. It really wasn’t that deep.
Plus, the poor thing is doing a pap walk. I can’t imagine that cameras and crowds do much for the already unpredictable temperament of toddlers. If they did a pap walk and their child was screaming, it would be easy bait for people to criticize their parenting on the grounds that their child was unhappy.
I don’t think this necessarily means she has a pacifier in her mouth constantly.

Yes! When I was pregnant with #1, I was at a restaurant and the table next to us let their kids watch a DVD during dinner.
I thought “I would never…can’t they even engage their kids during a meal?”

it looks like the tunic top is sleeveless, so I don’t fault her for putting a sweater over it. if it’s 55-60, it doesn’t seem too overly dressed to me. But I’m cold blooded.
I live in 80 plus weather for most of the year. Anything below 75 degrees requires a sweater. hashtag caribbeanlife

And, people down by me have a fascination with winter accessories. Can’t tell you the times I’ve walked past (sweating in this heat) by girls and boys wearing beanies and scarves. They don’t know.
Not only that, but when I was pregnant, I was either freezing to death or broiling, with usually random swings from one to the other without warning. Her layering up makes sense, she can pile things on when cold, and shimmy out quickly if she overheats. Just seems fairly sensible honestly.
He seems like the one without enough clothes on. People in the background are wearing layers like she is.
I live in San Francisco and we are having the same temps. I am going in layers. It gets cold in the shade and once the sun goes down.
Only 3 of these photos are working for me, the 2nd, 4th and 5th. (I can put my hand up and block out Tacky) Their little girl is cute.
Oh and the morning was going so good, talking about hot guys, pretty women and all that. Then Kaiser had to go and post this shit. I don’t mind Chris in his country boy get up but I want to smack that shit eating smirk right off Elsa’s face.

Also I hope that’s not what happened in their relationship. I’m no Elsa fan, but I’m always weary of couples who have a baby after they’ve made up. It just feels like they ‘re trying to put a band-aide on a stab wound. That’s if they were having problems, but yeah, definately some weird behavior between the two last year.

The only nice thing I can come close to saying is that it has been foggy the past few days and layering, especially in the beach towns, make sense. I was at Third Street Promenade the same day the blonde chick in the photos was and I had on a turtleneck, sweater and knit leggings. We Californians can’t handle much below 70.
ETA – that fourth shot down, showcasing his right arm wrapped in flannel, is kind of working for me though. Maybe all is not lost yet. Still, I am keeping Tommyanna on speed dial, just in case.

I get cold so easily; as soon as the temp drops I need to wrap myself in something warm, so it might be she just felt the same. I like the boots; not this exact pair she’s wearing to be fair but that boot style.
I think they are cute. I agree, while I’m not crazy about her boots, she IS quite pregnant and it’s a definite step up from the foot-suffocating sky-high heels Ms. Kardashian wouldn’t be seen without… maybe because she’d need the jaws of life to get her swollen feet out!
I was a walking furnace while pregnant. Idk how she can wear those layers. I was ready to wear short sleeves in the freezing cold during my last trimester.

she’s a smart mom to keep warm and provide extra warmth and protection for the baby while pregnant; and I find the phrase “knocked up” disrespectful. Sensible and more comfortable to wear ground-level soles when so far along India Rose is a doll ! Never tire of this family

They seem off. Their body language isn’t the same as it was during her first pregnancy/after she had India. They seem so over each other, which is sad considering they’re having a second child. I also don’t thinks he went ‘dark’ because of marriage troubles. I think she went dark because at the time Miley was ‘dark’ (whatever that means) and she was engaged to Liam and that caused the spot light to shift from Elsa and she couldn’t have that.
I know I am merely a rapid fan girl but I agree with your thoughts on this – they just seem off/over each other. I also agree with Kaiser, it seems something happened and they decided to work through it but aren’t out the other side yet.

I’m not sure how accurate that is. I’ve been with my husband for almost 4 years, have one child together and we still have really good chemistry. Not everyone ‘loses’ it.
My husband and I have been married for many years (with two kids) and we still have great chemistry. I can’t say how we’d look at each other if we were walking down the street together carrying one of our kids.
And especially, if I had called the paps. Do you really think she calls them, or are they just waiting on the streets to photo celebrity sightings?
Although Chris seems to smile when he’s walking around with friends, or at the baby, so I don’t know. (I sure hope they’re both blissfully happy, since he’s sort of made his bed and has to lie in it now….)
I don’t think she’s a big enough name for paps to look for her. Chris is bordering A/B list so I don’t know how much they stake out for him either.
I think chemistry wears off quite easily in a Hollywood couple. Me and my hubby have been together for a few years and we’re still loved up all the time.
Just thinking that maybe for ‘them’ is different……

love her boots and her outfit. dressing in layers when i was pregnant helped me get through the day – i would get so hot and then cold. i think she is so beautiful (partly by nature, probably mostly thanks to plastic) and her skin glows, when she is pregnant and when she isn’t.

Did I just take the rainbow bridge to fashion Valhalla or something? Is it okay to suddenly get over embroidered tunic tops with leggings and combat boots???!! Or any of those things separately… completely? What is happening? God. It just seems like… I don’t know… not chic or cute or like it’s a good idea in theory but it’s being executed by someone who listens to Whitney Houston instead of someone who is actually cool? Maybe Elsa is dressing like a teen (or a just-turned 21) to keep Chris’ interest…especially if Chris’ hook up with Miley Cyrus (ew) is true. The paps may smell blood in the water about their marriage (and heard about the cheating allegations) and they are positioning themselves for the money shot.
I’m not an Elsa fan, but if you’ve ever lived near Venice Beach, which I have, it’s a lot cooler than being in town, for instance, or even inland in Santa Monica. The beach area can be windy and cold, even in summer, so if you notice, even the people behind her are a bit bundled up or wearing scarves. Chris, on the other hand, is a BIG guy, and most of the men I know run rather warm and do not get cold as easily as women, so it’s understandable he might be wearing less. I think it must be hard to look great while you have a big tummy to deal with, so gotta hand it to any woman who is challenged by being pregnant and also dressing to be comfortable. I like her outfit and it just looks a bit Bohemian to me, so I can’t fault her for it. I like the boots, too…..
