Kendra Wilkinson gets her own show

Kendra Wilkinson – the Olive Garden-loving youngest ex-girlfriend of Hugh Hefner – is getting her own show. The former “Girls Next Door” star is in the process of moving out of the Playboy mansion – and at just 23 years old, Kendra has never lived on her own. Apparently she went straight from her parents’ house to Hugh Hefner’s house. What a huge jump.

Kendra is engaged to the Philadelphia Eagles’ Hank Baskett, but has decided to spend a little time living on her own before Baskett moves in and they get married. Something tells me a reality show would be just the right incentive to do that.

Kendra Wilkinson is getting her own reality show, E! announced Tuesday.

Working title Kendra — which has been picked up for eight episodes — will follow the 23-year-old as she moves out of the Playboy mansion, where she had 24/7 room service and a social secretary, and lives on her own for the first time.

The network says she’ll have to learn how to do laundry, cook, grocery shop and pay her own bills.

The show will also follow Wilkinson and her fiance, Philadelphia Eagles’ Hank Baskett (whom she’s marrying on June 27), on a road trip as she helps him move from New Mexico to California. Their on-camera growing pains include balancing her party-girl lifestyle with his conservative, religious mindset. (The pair pray every night before dinner.)

“Throughout the five highly successful seasons of the Girls Next Door, Kendra has developed a loyal fan-base with her outrageous personality and trademark laugh,” E!’s Lisa Berger said in a statement. “Now she’s faced with the reality of making it outside the gates of the Mansion and as Kendra’s fans are aware, you never know what she’s going to do next.”

Between wedding planning, Wilkinson will still find time to hang out with Hef, and Girls Next Door roommates Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt. Playboy playmate pals Amber Campisi and Britney Binger will also make cameos.

[From Us Weekly]

The show is set to air this summer. I absolutely hate reality television. However, while I can’t explain why, I really like “The Girls Next Door,” and will probably watch Kendra’s show too. Maybe I’m just a sucker but it sounds semi-interesting, as far as that stuff goes. Honestly, I’d do it just to see a Playboy bunny pray before dinner. And there is something oddly charismatic about Kendra. She was always sort of lazy and often grumpy on her old show, and basically seemed like she was still a teenager. It’ll be interesting to see how that translates into a marriage relationship. I expect it to be more interesting than Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey on “The Newlyweds.” Oddly enough, somehow I have more faith in Kendra.

Here’s Kendra with Holly Madison in Los Angeles on November 10th. Images thanks to WENN.

Her laugh is the most annoying sound on the face of the earth. I’m sure Hank’s family is pissed he’s marrying such low-class, trailer trash like Kendra. You keep relationships like that in the dark.

Re: never been out on her own

She was living with her boyfriend before she dumped him and moved into the mansion, but not many people know that…
Except everyone who read US Weekly last week.

Anyway, I’ll watch this show because no matter what people say about her, she’s fun

  3. Celebitchy says:

My favorite was Bridget as she is just so enthusiastic about everything. I would like to see all of them do well, although Holly just seems like a fool for hooking up with Criss Angel. GND is a great show, very interesting and the women are all so likable. I agree, JB, that it’s fun to watch even if you don’t like reality television. It’s not surprising that they’re getting their own shows now. The new girls are just so bland and young in comparison.

  4. Lauren says:

I just love how she was all about the Playboy lifestyle before meeting this guy, and now that she’s engaged to a more religious, conservative person she’s all the sudden condemning that lifestyle, saying she doesn’t agree with it at all. She didn’t seem to mind it so much when Hef was paying all her bills.

  5. Enonymous says:

I have to say that when she laughs she does sound like a retarded hayna but I do like the show and she is fun in it.

  6. Trillion says:

Please, please somebody explain the appeal of GND.

  7. Sauronsarmy says:

Why? She can’t even string together a coherent semi-intelligent sentence together?

  8. manda says:

lauren–where does it say she is condemning the playboy lifestyle? I don’t think I’ve seen that in any of the articles.

I think she’s funny, and while I could never shack up with that old man, I don’t see a problem with consenting adults doing whatever they want, as long as no one is injured. And I feel like it has been said time and again that they didn’t have to have sex with him, so it’s not like there was really a tit for tat arrangement. He needs arm candy, he’s the playboy guy. The GND were said arm candy.

Maybe she’s not that intelligent, but she’s not a dummy either. I have a JD and will be paying student loans until I retire, and I work for the government so I don’t make 6 figures. She got a boob job, lived in a gigantic mansion, went to amazing parties, and is now engaged to a NFL player. Umm….I think I’m the dummy in this scenario.

    love her. can’t wait.

  10. ChristinaX says:

    She’s always annoyed me.

  11. Lauren says:

Manda – she said in an interview a few weeks ago that was published in People that she “disagrees with that lifestyle entirely, the three girlfriends, everything.”

  12. Sunnyjyl says:

The three women are what makes GND so appealing. They all have an unexpected sweetness to them. Of course, it helps that they are never shown getting too sexual with Hef. If you dwell on what goes on behind closed doors then, yeah, that’s kind of gross. (And, not anybody else’s business anyway)

  13. Boo78 says:

I, too, have a JD and may never retire due to loans. I’m a dummy as well.

I love Kendra, loved the show, and adore her laugh (an acquired taste maybe). Go, Kendra!

  14. Aspen says:

It is in NO WAY hypocritical for a young woman to GROW UP and change her mind about how she wants to live.

I did many things in my youth that I will TRY to steer my daughter away from and would never again do, myself.

Young people try things and put on a lot of different roles to see what fits. Then…one day…they grow up.

There is no hypocrisy in becoming an adult.

I like Kendra. Despite my personal moral “issues” with their living arrangement, they all seem to be kind and amiable girls. I don’t know if I’ll see Kendra’s show since I would have to buy it on DVD after the season airs to view it…but I understand why other people would. Watching her makes you feel hope that she will turn out well and be happy.

Uh oh, Denise Richards is going to have some competition!

  16. barneslr says:

Trademark laugh? You mean that braying, annoying, ignorant sounding noise that I have had the misfortune of hearing (never watch the show, but love the Soup!)?

What a vapid, useless piece of work!

  17. pixiegirl says:

I shamefully admit that I like the show as well. I love to watch it while I’m walking on my treadmill. Call me crazy.

And I don’t think Kendra has moved from Playboy bunny to ultra conservative christian because she’s ‘becoming an adult’. I think she morphs into whatever her surroundings happen to be at that moment.

  18. boomchakaboom says:

I was forced to watch GND with my best friend, and was shocked to learn she even watched such garbage. HOWEVER, the damn show grew on me, and I found myself liking the girls. Totally unexplainable. Inexplicable. Without reason. Who knew?

  19. Brandy says:

I am a huge GND fan, but I don’t foresee myself really getting into this one. For me, the appeal of the girls was due in part to the way they all interacted. That aside, bringing cameras in to film your relationship never seems to bode well for the future (i.e., Carmen and Dave, Nick and Jessica, Whitney and Bobby).

Kudos to Aspen: as a young woman who has already moved on from unsavory past incidents, your statement about how trying different roles on for size doesn’t make you a hypocrite, that we all (hopefully) evolve really spoke volumes to me.

if you people dont liek kendra, why are you even discussing this? dont be so nosy, and go away.

i think shes hilarious. i love her show, and love her personality.
