I have some good news. Benedict Cumberbatch is going to Buckingham Palace! He will meet the Queen and Duchess Kate. YES. Before you say, “But aren’t Benedict’s curls considered a lethal weapon, one which could bring down the monarchy?” let me just say that Benedict is actually pretty royal-friendly. He’s an ambassador for Prince Charles’ The Prince’s Trust, and Benedict has already been to Buckingham Palace at least once in the past year. Well, now he’s going again, this time for a reception for RADA. And Cate Blanchett, Helen Mirren and David Tennett will be there too.
Kate Middleton will join the Queen to host a reception at Buckingham Palace honouring the dramatic arts on 17 February.
Britain’s monarch will join forces with the Duchess of Cambridge to welcome guests including Dame Helen Mirren, Benedict Cumberbatch, Cate Blanchett, David Tennant, Sir David Attenborough and Downton Abbey creator, Julian Fellowes.
The star-studded reception is being held in honour of The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts (RADA), of which the Queen is patron.
From around 6pm, the Queen and the Duchess will greet an estimated 250 guests, including directors, producers, playwrights, teachers and actors, before enjoying a series of performances in the Palace’s ballroom. Other members of the royal family, including the Duke of Edinburgh, will then meet the guests in the state rooms.
The Queen and Kate’s engagement comes amid a busy time for the royals. The night before the RADA reception, Prince William will play a starring role in the BAFTA award ceremony.
As President of the film academy, the 31-year-old prince will honour Dame Helen Mirren with a Fellowship Award, the highest lifetime achievement award given to someone who has greatly contributed to the world of film, television or games.
Yes, I was going to mention the BAFTAs – the BAFTAs are February 16th, a Sunday. And then this palace reception will be the following night, when all of the celebrities are still in town. But no gauche American is invited! Heavens no.
Anyway, it should be exciting. I doubt we’ll get many photos from inside the event, but maybe…? Hopefully? Maybe the Palace will release some photos from inside the party. My dream scenario involves Benedict and Duchess Kate drinking a champagne toast together as the Queen and Cate Blanchett throw side-eyes worthy of Moriarty in the background. I wonder if Kate is a fan of Sherlock? I know she watches Downton Abbey, and she reportedly (I think she told someone this) watches The Only Way Is Essex too. Surely she watches Sherlock!

It’s true he didn’t do a degree at RADA but I thought I read he did some short course/post-grad training there? Not uncommon apparently, and I’m sure they’re glad to stake any claim to him. The other non-RADA grads may be the same.

James is fantastic, and there is a bit of Cumby piano playing after 3.30.
His hands were about the first thing I noticed about him – lovely long fingers indeed. But then I always notice men’s hands, for some reason. I’m not a huge fan of Cumberbatch (I think he’s a great actor, but don’t really see his alleged hotness) but he DOES have nice hands!

This actor is B- list. Honestly that is probably his peak for now until he shows he can do some other role. Two months ago he would have been B list. That is how fast you drop in this town. In the eyes of this home owner though he will always be A list. The very good looking actor lives next door to a home that caught on fire while the owners were at work. The fire was in the kitchen of the other house and the actor knew that is where the owner of the home kept her dogs crated during the day. The actor called 911 but went over to the house and broke through a french door cutting himself in the process before carrying the two dog crates out to the back yard. It took another five or six minutes for the fire department to arrive and by the time they got there most of the kitchen was destroyed so chances are good the dogs would have died too.

The Palace tried to make her “Catherine” to erase the Waity Katy stigma, but all they got from that was public confusion regarding the change of her initial from K to C. I still think its weird she wouldn’t go by “Cate” rather than “Kate.” And I don’t believe anyone but her palace underlings call her Catherine.

‘Kate’ with a ‘K’ is the most common and most accepted spelling of Kate. Cate is much more rare so Kate for Catherine is not that unusual.
As for the ‘Catherine’ rebrand, I think William was either the impetus behind it or was the most enthusiastic supporter of it. It’s interesting (to me at least) as he seems to be the only one still following it.

I’m facebook friends with this girl whose family has been Menonite for GENERATIONS. Now I don’t think that her family is all that strict about it, because they wear jeans, tank tops, etc–are pretty much the every day, normal family, etc.
But this girl has a massive crush on DT. I mean, she watches Doctor Who like a woman possessed, and she posts pictures of him, every once in a while, talking about how hot he is. She’s got it bad……he is that charming.

I can’t help but think this is the main reason he gets so much press. Posh accent (mixed with a deep voice from all that smoking – yeah, it does the same to women’s voices), posh schooling, weird face (pity f*** material that turns on all those women who think he’s more ‘accessible’ and non-threatening), plus average acting skills (lets face it, the roles themselves have been the interesting part – he/his agent picks decent material). Likely hung out with upper class types at Harrow, so can blend in at Royal gatherings. One thing he does seem to be very good at is networking/schmoozing with everyone.
I really don’t see the attraction with this guy. Well, I understand it (based on the above), but think he’s massively over-hyped. He’s not terrible, but also nothing special. He has a huge head in relation to the rest of his body. I’m also finding it difficult not to notice the receding hairline and increasingly lined face in any new photos of him. He’s like a walking advert against smoking! I wouldn’t have noticed if the media didn’t shove him in my face every other week. It’s getting a bit annoying. Last year he seemed to be in everything!
David Tennant on the other hand – yes please! Good actor, not ruined by inflated media coverage!

When he went to that cafe in Helsinki, he was apparently with a friend (who took a picture of him and the barista). But it wasn’t specified if the friend was a man or a woman. Celeb photo ops at US cons are usually ridiculous. Stallone charged $445 at the NY comic con this year per pic. Autographs were $395. Most celebs here, including the guys from Supernatural, charge $100+ at cons for a photo or autograph.

If you’re referring to the Russian chick that was at the private wedding with him, she’s lives with her long-term boyfriend. I think it was more of just a casual ski trip with a buddy, probably one of the guys he worked with on Little Flavour.
If it were something romantic, I’m sure something will come about. But, this man has not to photographed with women publicly in a long time with the exception of the conventions. He’s always hanging out with male friends. I hope he’s still single, makes him more likable for some reason.

Yeah, I’d say a coincidence especially since she left days before he arrived. I say, the trip sounds more like business related since Hoult was there filming something for Jaguar plus wasn’t BC photographed next to a Jaguar a few weeks ago at show or something? Signs seem to point to Jaguar advert.

The Russian chick is last years news. I believe that is something we will not hear about it again until she name drops him. Probably a holiday fling but she looks to be back with that boyfriend of hers (always has been likely).
She was always with that boyfriend of hers. And let’s not give her another shot of publicity. She squeezed all the press she could out of this nonevent in the Summer. Don’t do her any more favours. The whole thing is very forgotten.
