Alec Baldwin covers NY Mag, shades Rachel Maddow, Anderson Cooper & more

baldwin ny

Last fall, Alec Baldwin had another breakdown. Alec’s breakdowns are always pretty special – he’s long been contemptuous of “the media” and “the paparazzi” even as his wife actively courts them and even as Alec signed on to do an MSNBC show last year. The meltdown came because the paparazzi were taking photos of Alec as he walked around NYC, and for their trouble, Alec called one of them a “c—ksucking f-g”. This was not even the first time Alec has dropped some hate speech in public, and after last fall’s incident, most people were just like, “Jesus, enough. We’re so over Alec Baldwin.” He was fired from his MSNBC show and he made a self-righteous and half-assed apology for the whole incident (which he still denies saying anything homophobic).

So, that’s where we were, more or less. Alec’s wife still poses for the paparazzi and posts baby photos to her social media accounts, and Alec still tweets and yells at clouds. And now Alec has told his sad, sad story to NY Magazine. The cover story is called, “I Give Up, by Alec Baldwin.” It’s a first-person rant from Alec about all of the people who have wronged him and let him down, because of course it is. And so, Alec has given up on everything and everyone and he has declared himself “no longer famous.” You can read the full rant here (it’s pretty epic) and here are some highlights:

He was unfairly labeled “a homophobic bigot” by “Andrew Sullivan, Anderson Cooper, and others in the Gay Department of Justice.”

He references “One young man, an F-to-M tr-ny.” Seriously.

Woe is Baldwin: “I’ve read where a number of people have felt that 2013 was a sh–ty year. For me, it was actually a great year, because my wife and I had a baby. But, yeah, everything else was pretty awful. And I find myself bitter, defensive, and more misanthropic than I care to admit. And I’m trying to understand what happened, how an altercation on the street, in which I was accused—wrongly—of using a gay slur, could have cascaded like this. There’s been a shift in my life. And it’s caused me to step back and say, This is happening for a reason.”

He loves gay people: “Am I a homophobe? Look, I work in show business. I am awash in gay people, as colleagues and as friends. I’m doing Rock of Ages one day, making out with Russell Brand. Soon after that, I’m advocating with Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Cynthia Nixon for marriage equality. I’m officiating at a gay friend’s wedding. I’m not a homophobic person at all. But this is how the world now sees me.”

Shia LaBeouf: “There was friction between us from the beginning. LaBeouf seems to carry with him, to put it mildly, a jailhouse mentality wherever he goes. When he came to rehearsal, he was told it was important to memorize his lines. He took that to heart and learned all his lines in advance, even emailing me videos in which he read aloud his lines from the entire play. To prove he had put in the time. (What else do you do in jail?) I, however, do not learn my lines in advance. So he began to sulk because he felt we were slowing him down. You could tell right away he loves to argue. And one day he attacked me in front of everyone. He said, “You’re slowing me down, and you don’t know your lines. And if you don’t say your lines, I’m just going to keep saying my lines.” We all sat, frozen. I snorted a bit, and, turning to him in front of the whole cast, I asked, “If I don’t say my words fast enough, you’re going to just say your next line?” I said. “You realize the lines are written in a certain order?” He just glared at me.”

MSNBC: “Morning Joe was boring. Scarborough is neither eloquent nor funny. And merely cranky doesn’t always work well in the morning. Mika B. is the Margaret Dumont of cable news. I liked Chris Jansing a lot. Very straightforward. I like Lawrence O’Donnell, but he’s too smart to be doing that show. Rachel Maddow is Rachel Maddow, the ultimate wonk/dweeb who got a show, polished it, made it her own. She’s talented. The problem with everybody on MSNBC is none of them are funny, although that doesn’t prevent them from trying to be.”

When a journalist claimed his wife was tweeting at a funeral: “In my rage, however, I called him a “toxic little queen,” and, thus, Anderson Cooper, the self-appointed Jack Valenti of gay media culture, suggested I should be “vilified,” in his words. I didn’t feel bad about the incident. He lied about my wife. They say this is what comes with stardom—I don’t agree with you. A journalist isn’t supposed to write a lie about you. If he was in New York, I might have had the impulse to beat the shit out of the guy. At the time, I didn’t view “toxic little queen” as a homophobic statement. I didn’t realize how those words could give offense, and I’m sorry for that.”

He hates Rachel Maddow: “Once they fired me, a former MSNBC employee I knew emailed me. He said, “You watch now, Phil is going to start leaking left and right to bury you.” When I left, “Page Six” was flooded with lies about me. Another told me, regarding the “toxic little queen” comment, that Rachel Maddow was the prime mover in my firing, as she was aghast that I had been hired and viewed me as equivalent to Mel Gibson. Another source told me, “You know who’s going to get you fired, don’t you? Rachel. Phil will do whatever Rachel tells him to do.” I think Rachel Maddow is quite good at what she does. I also think she’s a phony who doesn’t have the same passion for the truth off-camera that she seems to have on the air.”

[From Vulture]

I started skimming the rest of the article after that. You get the idea. Everybody is out to get Alec. He did absolutely nothing wrong, and what he did do that was questionable, he already apologized for. It’s not his fault, it’s SOCIETY. It’s the MEDIA. It’s the paparazzi. Everybody else is wrong. Not Alec.

Epic. flounce. to. goodbye. A bajillion word spew, talking to you, about how he doesn’t want to talk to you.

  2. Vee says:

He is a very angry man.

    • HappyMom says:

About 10 years ago he lived in the same building as friends of ours. They always said he was grumpy and unfriendly and all the service people at the building hated him. To say one positive thing, he was nice to their little girls-but not to any adults.

      • ff says:

i saw him once at a play like 10 years ago. he was with a woman he’d been reportedly dating who was average, not gussied up, etc. i remember at the time gawker stawker was a thing and i regret writing that she was ‘no great woop’ instead of being like ‘oh! she looks like me!’ anyhoo, i think alex is getting a bum wrap and is a better guy than the media is able to – it’s not yet – like calling someone a toxic little queen may sound homophobic but clearly the guy isn’t a homophobe, it’s just, i think his putdowns come from the `70’s if that makes any sense.

      • K-MAC says:

ff SAYS it makes total sense and I agree with you. While he has shown less than desirable behavior towards people and definitely has anger problems, he is getting a bit of a “bum wrap ” here. It’s isn’t ALL everyone elses fault, but it certainly isn’t ALL his fault either. The press can be relentless and harass people till they snap. I wouldn’t want to live in his world for all of the money in his bank account. Not to mention, we have turned into a society of cut throat social media “mean people” where we condemn, judge and shut down even if we don’t know all of the answers. I feel sometimes it’s justified and at other times it’s not. It feels a bit on the crazy side at the moment. I get why he wrote this article. I am not defending everything he has ever done, but I also don’t think he is the devil either.

      • Kiddo says:

I don’t think it was a good idea to try to take everyone down with him from this last episode. I was hoping he would make a come back, instead he stewed over everything. MSNBC isn’t such an important place that he needed to get down and dirty and rehash things. Lots of injustices happen in Hollywood, in every day life, mostly to people with less power, and for greater consequences, and Alec completely ignores the privilege that he enjoys. That said, I don’t think he is the devil either, but he is inadvertently subscribing to the therapy via public consumption model that seems to be rampant these days. This will only create more interest from paps. And the cycle goes on.

  3. GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I couldn’t even read the whole thing. He’s never going to take responsibility for his own actions or grow up. I don’t understand why anyone cares anymore.

    • Zadie says:

I found interesting what Dan Savage said about his homophobic slur. He said that, in the time when Baldwin grew up, those insults were very common, so when his angry, he subconsciously goes back to those insults. He said that his words were homophobic, but he’s not necessarily a homophobe. I find that an interesting view. Not that I necessarily agree with it.

      • Hannah says:

I think that’s right. However, as someone who is so famously liberal might have wanted to get a handle on his rage issues and the ensuing controversies already.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

That is interesting. Plus, Baldwin never grew up, so he probably didn’t have far back in his subconscious to go. Ha. I can see that you might lose your temper and say something that didn’t wholly represent who you are. My problem is, he doesn’t own up to that. He just acts like people are being mean to him for being offended.

      • Bella Bella says:

Whenever I hear of Dan Savage I think it’s Fred Savage then I read all comments in Daniel Stern’s voice.

      • mercy says:

“That is interesting. Plus, Baldwin never grew up, so he probably didn’t have far back in his subconscious to go. Ha.”

Now that’s some truth right there. I think all these fracases he gets embroiled in probably serve that purpose. He’s his own worst enemy but doesn’t want to admit it because a large part of him doesn’t really want to grow up. Cue the next person who gives him an excuse to lash out and he’s off.

    • SonjaMarmeladova says:

      I can see that point.
Also, I love every time Dan Savage come to Bill Maher’s show and makes all the conservatives very uncomfortable.

    • Mark says:

I can see why he’s mad, if you watch the video you can’t even hear if he uses a homophobic it was just TMZ saying he did. If it another actor or actress reacting this way to be being hounded by the press people wouldn’t be bashing them like they are Alec.

      • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

I don’t know, I’m pretty sure most anybody would be called out for calling another person a “toxic little queen.” And it’s not the first time he has used an expression like that. I think he’s gotten more than his share of free passes for bad behavior.

      • Kosmos says:

I do NOT think he’s homophobic for one moment…..he just wanted to yell out something ugly to this guy, that’s all….and I don’t blame him one bit for being completely angry and fed up with the paps and photographers either. However, Alex does seem to go way overboard with all of this, more than most other celebs, and in doing so, in his particular fashion, he just draws even more attention to himself. So, yes, he has some very decent complaints, but I think he’s burning too many bridges and his public and others are getting tired of the constant din of over-dramatization.

  4. HappyMom says:

The funniest thing is his wife is the biggest famewhore. How is he not seeing that?

    • Kiddo says:

Not even that. He is addicted to social media and getting in the last word. He will never be able to stay quiet. He was recovering, at least in a PR sense, from his last outburst. People were starting to forget about it. But apparently this entire thing has been festering inside him. He had to let it out. I think it unimaginable that he could go and just be an actor and not pipe up on something. I don’t think he can do it. He wrote a War and Peace sized editorial just to say that he doesn’t want to say anything.

Alec, I think you’re talented, but you could have gone quietly, not burning *all the things* down along the way.

    • Me Three says:

I gave them 2-3 years when they married as it was obvious she was using him. Once 30 Rock was cancelled, I thought maybe only another year and a half–figured she had to have a kid to ensure she was financially secure for the next 18 years. She’s had the kid and he’s not working…she needs to be in the limelight. I’m thinking his 2014 is going to be worse than 2013…she’s going to dump him this year. There’s nothing in the relationship for her now.

I must admit I will enjoy watching her live her Karma–once she’s left him, no one will be interested in her anymore. Think about all of the other women who’ve sold their souls (bodies?) to older, famous guys…how many of their names do we all remember once they’re no longer with the guy? None of them. Women like Hilaria really bug me–I’ve thought Alec was an idiot for years. No surprise there!

  5. bella says:

Major downer that he continues to spiral out if control.
I’ve admired his work for a long time and wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt.
I’ve cut him too many passes…
    DISAPPOINTMENT

    • Erinn says:

Yeah, I get that. I absolutely loved the man on 30 Rock. He was brilliant. I keep trying to hope for the best with him, but he’s not following through. At least he can act, I guess.

  6. Lucinda says:

He doesn’t even memorize his lines in advance? He’s an actor! What else is he supposed to do except memorize his lines? His level of self-delusion is absolutely stunning.

    • Musi says:

What he doesn’t? I Honestly didn’t finish reading, he sounds too grumpy.

    • danielle says:

I know! I thought “wow, he makes crazy shia look like he had a point!”

      • MrsBPitt says:

whats funny is, Shia and Alec are both horrible! Alec didn’t learn any lines and Shia learned every single line in the whole play…completely opposite, and yet so alike!

    • Observer says:

You’re not supposed to memorize your lines before rehearsal.

    • Bridget says:

This was actually discussed when the whole Orphans thing initially blew up. The only person it was a big deal that Alec hadn’t yet learned his lines was Shia, who had been specifically requested to learn his lines ahead of time because he had never been in a play before. They rehearse for weeks, and Alec is a vet. Ironically, no one actually faulted Alec for that whole Shia blowup until he brought it up again.

    • Ally8 says:

Actors memorize their lines at various stages of the rehearsal process for a play. It depends on their technique and approach to character development.

  7. eliza says:

I do not think half the stuff he does is right but I also do not believe this man to be a homophobe. Idiot and hot headed mess, yes. Homophobe, no.

I have never liked him, so I am not a fan defending his actions.

  8. Mal23 says:

What’s funny about this is he probably doesn’t see the similarities between him and Shia. A sense of entitlement? Yeah, they both have that. Declaring they aren’t going to be famous anymore when the world doesn’t receive them the way they think they should be received? Yeah Alec. He who throws the first stone and all that.

  9. Hannah says:

    Well, boo-f’ing-hoo.

Also, Alec would like you to know he is not a racist because he has some very good friends who happen to be black. That is essentially his excuse for using homophobic language: I work in showbiz where everybody is gay. Christ, you can’t make this stuff up.

  10. JaDeRu says:

Yikes! This boob made me feel sorry for Shia Lebeouf! I don’t even….I need to go lay down now.

  11. Helvetica says:

He always gives good interview. Love him or hate him, he is a STAAAAH the way we imagine them to be: narcissistic, ridiculous, and up his own a$$.

    I personally like him. Hahaha.

  12. grayze says:

And this is one of the big problems with him: he thinks that if he believes the “right” things (or pays lip service to believing him) then that makes him immune from criticism about everything he says or does that’s inappropriate. And that is not true, regardless of politics. Even if I take him at value here and pretend the “BUT I KNOW GAY PEOPLE” defense is valid in his case, my response is…so? Just because you know gay people, and maybe really really love them, and work with them and see them and campaign about political issues that matters to them, you don’t in exchange receive a free “immunity card” that renders all your future words free of homophobia no matter what they are. Maybe the LGBT people he knows are fine with how he is, but that doesn’t mean every LGBT person on the planet is, and nor does that mean he has the right to choose what is and is not okay to describe them, and what they do and do not have the right to be offended by.

As for the slur about trans* people – it makes me sick. My cousin is transitioning, and every step of her life right now is a struggle and she works so hard be accepted and to keep herself safe. Comments like that just dehumanize trans* people and make monstrous treatment of them more acceptable.

I loathe Shia to my core, but I’ll be damned if he doesn’t come across well here in comparison to Baldwin.

  13. Bridget says:

I actually don’t think he’s a homophobe, but I DO think that he’s not a nice guy. There is some rage in that man, and he always feels justified when he unleashes it, no matter the target.

    • Tammy says:

Completely agree.. not a homophobe but he is a jerk.

    • Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

The think I like about him is that he speaks directly – not hiding his rage behind a facade of sweet smile and a swath of passive-aggressive behaviour. So even though he may not be nice at least he doesn’t pretend that he is.

  14. sally says:

Dare I say it? Shia is right in this situation. Learn your lines Alec. I bet he really was holding up everybody.

    • Aisha says:

That part really confused me. “I do not learn my lines in advance”. Huh? Isn’t it your job as an actor to learn your lines in advance? Did he expect cue cards or something?

  15. MrsBPitt says:

I would like to know why some celebs get passes and some don’t. Why is Mel Gibson villified and basically lost his career for basically doing the same thing as Alec Baldwin and Charlie Sheen. Christ, Charlie Sheen shot one girlfriend (by accident, so they say) and held a Knife to one wifes throat. How many reporters has Baldwin physically assaulted, how many insulting, gay slurs can he utter and still be awarded emmy after emmy? Now, I think all three are scum, but why did all the violence, misogeny, and crazy, inappropriate ranting not effect two of these guys careers, yet one is an outcast in Hollywood? Just would like to hear some opinions…

    • Kiddo says:

Charlie Sheen was once considered hot, had a lot of lawyers, power and a famous father with power in Hollywood. He wore two faces. The public believed the facade of nice guy party boy. Until he could no longer keep the real Charlie from coming out. Mel Gibson had melt downs with a number of people, the police, the screenwriter, his girlfriend and has really screwed up beliefs handed down from his father about Jews. With Alec, before today, the only people he seemed to really lose it with were paps, and they do a lot of shitty things. There was the one incident of name-calling his daughter, but it didn’t have nearly the same venom nor were there threats and some, like myself, thought it underhanded to even release that tape.

That’s the condensed version in my opinion. But now Alec looks really angry, petty and vengeful in this writing. He didn’t do himself any favors.

    • JaDeRu says:

There can be a myriad of reasons why some celebrities are coddled while others are vilified. Who you know, who you insulted/hurt, political leanings, etc. It’s strange but it’s mirrored in the public as well. We’re all guilty to some extent for giving someone a pass when they don’t deserve it. Or even lashing at someone who probably doesn’t deserve the hate.

    • Tammy says:

Mel Gibson pissed off the wrong people in Hollywood with his anti-semitic rants while Charlie Sheen and Alec Baldwin have not. That is what it boils down to… Charlie Sheen rages against certain people in particular, not entire races, groups of people, religions, etc. He has some epic rants, some of them are hilarious, but I don’t recall him saying something derogatory about the race, religion or sexual orientation. Charlie is also funny where Mel is not. Alec Baldwin takes his anger out on paparazzi and women & uses slurs to describe those particular people (the person taking his picture, the woman than angered him, etc). All three have serious anger problems and people should steer clear of them & none of these guys is better than the other one with their anger, however one of out the three is definitely racist, That’s where the difference is.

  16. dizzylucy says:

I just rewatched 30 Rock, and it’s a shame – he’s so great on that show, such a talented guy. But such issues in real life! So angry and always the victim.
The best thing he could do is simply be quiet, and tell his wife to quit courting fame.

  17. starrywonder says:

I will still watch 30 Rock. And btw I loved that he threw shade at Shia. I don’t think it was about Alec learning his lines it sounded like they were going through a rough dress which means you also are figuring out how to stand, what poses to take, etc. Shia learning all of the lines does not mean shit if he is not also listening to what his fellow actors are saying or how they are reacting to bounce off of them in the right way. Either way Shia sucks.

  18. Jayna says:

So talented, but outside of his work, always a victim. When his wife leaves him in three to five years, we will witness an epic meltdown.

    • Me Three says:

Doubt it will be 3-5…think she’s gone this year or early next. Like someone else said. The woman loves being famous. With this latest meltdown, Alec won’t work for a while. She’s going to lose any gigs she has right now and I don’t think she’ll put up with not being the center of attention. She’s got the kid now so she’s financially secure. She’s outta there!

  19. qtpi says:

Can’t take him too seriously when he marries the young fame whore that bends herself into a pretzel on the daily. If he truly wanted the quiet life he would have married a gorgeous nobody closer to his own age and moved out of the city already. And yes he has is own obsession with social media.

I would imagine Rachel has a low tolerance for people that throw around gay slurs. Also I don’t watch news for humor. I watch it for news, TYVM.

  20. Dog Obsessed Girl says:

“In my rage, however, I called him a “toxic little queen”…At the time, I didn’t view “toxic little queen” as a homophobic statement. I didn’t realize how those words could give offense, and I’m sorry for that.””
Isn’t that why one person calls another person a “name”? Aren’t you trying to insult someone in your rage?
I can gather that he was trying to explain that he was insulting the journalist, but wasn’t using ‘toxic little queen’ in a homophobic way, but that doesn’t work for me.
You call names to be mean, so you use what you feel is insulting.
Whatever. This explanation just irks me more than the others.

  21. TX says:

If he would have just said “Look, its really frustrating and scary dealing with paparazzi all the time ..I got mad and said some awful things I shouldn’t have, and I’m so sorry” this whole thing would have been over. But instead, he drags it out, only making it worse for himself.

  22. Stephanie says:

    “Yells at clouds.” Lol 😂

  23. MediaMaven says:

You know the wifey is documenting all of this behavior (and so is the interwebz) for her “my husband is a megalomaniac” multi-million dollar divorce……I’m sure she has Gloria Allred on speed dial (along with all of the paps).

  24. stinky says:

I havent read the full rant yet
(i want to but dont know if/when i’ll really sit still and do so).
I can’t help but love him… its his talent, im sure thats why.
But one thing i DO know is that they both want EVERYONE to forget about his little Canadian -jailbird-lady-love!!!!

  25. stinky says:

i happen to know some toxic little queens.
It can be an apt description.
Just dont say it out loud?

  26. emmie_a says:

If he really wanted to ‘give up’, go away and/or disappear, he’d STFU and do it already. Other famous people have done it. But his ego needs the attention and he’ll continue being the same ass-wipe he’s always been because that’s who he is. …And funny how many more pap shots we get of him since Hilaria came into his life. Maybe bc she has the paps on speed dial. But I’m sure it’s not her fault either.

  27. Observer says:

I honestly did not know “Queen” was a gay slur.

    • Irishserra says:

I’m with you. I use it a bit. And I mean absolutely NOTHING related to anyone’s sexuality. Some people just behave like an entitled bitchy queen and I call them out on it. But with PC overwhelming everything these days, it’s just better to keep quiet unless you truly believe freedom of speech is a reality. I don’t.

      • KC says:

Uh really? You picked it up from someone who was gay; you just didn’t realize it at the time. But when not used by someone who IS gay, it IS a slur.

      • Illyra says:

KC: if it’s a slur, then it’s a slur no matter who says it.

  28. Jess says:

I always think of a line Jack says in 30 Rock (miss that show!) about how all actors are crazy – and the really good actors are really crazy. I think Tina wrote that line for Alec! He’s such a great actor but so crazy and miserable in real life.

  29. Jayna says:

Alec has point-blank never wanted to live in LA. Now he says he’s moving there because of the pap situation and living in a gated residence. It sounds to me like his little wifey wants to live there for her burgeoning career she is aiming for. He would never move there for Kim as he said he was a die-hard New Yorker. He has been beaten down this year but I can’t see Alec enjoying LA. Of course, chilling, not working (he says), it might be good for him, time with his little baby.

  30. Down and Out says:

If part of your process as an actor is not to learn your lines in advance (and I won’t comment on that as a non-actor), and you know someone else is doing the opposite to the point where they are sending you videos of them reading lines… err, wouldn’t a decent person at least give them a heads up that’s not how they do things? Like would it have killed Alec to tell Shia, hey, don’t show up expecting the same from me because that’s not how I do things? The way Alec tells it sounds a bit cruel and like he was setting Shia up for frustration and conflict. How petty, mean.

    • Jayna says:

I have never heard one complaint about Alec on set and whatever he is in his personal life, he seems to be a true professional and liked on sets, so much so that he is sought after for roles.

He was on 30 Rock all those years, tons of dialogue, and you never heard once he held up shooting schedules. So however he works, I don’t think he slows things down. I will have to take the side of Alec on this one because of his stellar repuation within the industry rather than Shia, who is acting like a complete nutcase these days.

      • NoShade says:

Couldn’t agree with you more. I’ve never understood how people could hate Alec Baldwin this much. Having read through the entire article it’s my understanding that he knows two wrongs don’t make a right and he is apologizing for his offensive behavior. I’ve definitely reacted in less than favorable ways when I felt someone had wronged me let alone was endangering the life or well-being of myself or one of my family members. It’s one thing to take a picture, it is quite another to insert yourself into someone’s personal space so entirely that they stumble and fall. That’s not ok. If that was done to someone while you were walking on the street you would probably be appalled, help the injured person on the ground and (if it persisted) would physically restrain the aggressor. I was taught that if someone sincerely apologizes you can take it or you can leave it but the matter has been resolved. Seeing as he did seek information from an LGBTQ organization I say he knows how he offended people and did seek to remedy the situation. This is also someone who is clearly dedicated to various organizations and charities over the years. By reacting in the manner which most of you (not all) have it seems you are only proving him right.

      • Down and Out says:

“I have never heard one complaint about Alec on set and whatever he is in his personal life, he seems to be a true professional…” Right, the Woody Allen/Roman Polanski defense. Separation of the artist versus the person… Sure, OK, fine, whatever, cool story bro. I mean, MSNBC might beg to differ with you on that whole acting professional thing. This article is a lot more articulate than I could be on the topic: http://gawker.com/5473834/the-trouble-with-alec-baldwin

But yeah, Alec has serious anger management issues. You’d have to be very willfully naive to think otherwise. I’m not the biggest fan of Shia, either, but I’m more willing to think someone in his 20s might change more than a 55yo sociopath.

If you read it all you would know that Alec Baldwin does take responsibility for his own overreactions, but he is a man protecting his wife and child. Give him a break. He is obviously not a homophobe and it is sad that he has been colored that way.

@Down and Out, Yeah I don’t really see the comparison between a man accused of molesting one daughter and marrying the other and a man who was accused of brutally raping a young girl comparable to Alec Baldwin. Way off base and disgusting.

He’s so talented and funny and an old-fashioned masculine movie star, so I’ve always wanted to like him.

But attacking Rachel is not only mean and nasty, because she’s wonderful, but also crazy, because she’s so well respected for her smarts, her calm and her lack of ego. She’s everything he’s not, and it makes me wonder if he’s actually having a mental problem.

I’ve jokingly called it “male menopause” w/the new hair, the new wife, & the new baby, but he may have a mental issue if he’s saying this about Rachel.
