I’m a bit apprehensive about Katie Holmes and Victoria Beckham designing for a children’s clothing line. I’m not sure I want my little girl wearing tight, form fitting dresses with ridiculous outsized belts and a hat that looks like it could be Marvin the Martian’s flying saucer. Nor do I want her sporting a “Scientology ROCKS!” t-shirt to school, either.
I do have to say, though, that I was surprised when walking VD advert Charlie Sheen came out with a kid’s clothes line–the clothes weren’t that bad and I didn’t feel guilty parting with my fiance’s hard earned cash to buy the items:
Here’s what US Weekly says about the PoshKat project:
“Katie drew sketches of a dress she wanted Suri to wear on her birthday, and they discussed it over a glass of wine,” a source close to Beckham, 33, tells Us Weekly.
And though Holmes’ rep says, “Katie is not starting a clothing company,” the source insists “they’ve been talking about it for months.”
The pair even want to enlist a pro from Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. line to help, adds the pal.
And apparently Holmes, 28, knows her way around a sewing kit: An employee of L.A.’s International Silk & Woolens says, “Katie comes in all the time. She makes pillows, curtains and all kinds of decorations for her home.”
I don’t find it very plausible that Katie sews curtains for her home. She’s young, rich, and probably could hire someone to do it for her. That being said, what else are you gonna do when your career goes down the drain and you’re reading Dianetics for the millionth time?
I’m even more surprised that they would think Gwen Stefani would be a good choice to help them with their clothing line. Gwen has a very rock eclectic vibe to her clothing, while Posh’s style is more Scores meets the naughty English secretary.
Hmm…leapord print “I Love Xenu!” jersey dresses with a leather drawstring belt, anyone?
Picture note by Celebitchy: some pictures are of Katie and Posh in Paris with Georgia Armani in late January.
A tad unrelated to the post, but the hottest person in the ad is Armani. Damn he’s smokin for a guy his age.

Posh looked so much better when her hair was brown– that blonde has got to go….

Pecarri, I agree Victoria should go back to her darker hair or to her long extensions.
It would be hard to go wrong with children’s clothes, I mean how hard can it be. I think it is Victoria’s idea and Katie’s name is just there for hype. She is an astute woman, she would never put scientology on those clothes.

Pillows and curtains are usually just sewing straight lines. Actually figuring out how to drape clothes well etc. is harder, but it’s only clothes for kids.
And maybe she crafts for the satisfaction–Rosie O’Donnell used to make all the celebs strut their crafts skills when she had that talk show.
