Jenny McCarthy announced her engagement to Donnie Wahlberg on ‘The View’

wenn20895503

Okay, so it looks like Jenny McCarthy just announced her engagement today on The View. Jenny has been dating Donnie Wahlberg for what? Less than a year – they confirmed they were dating last summer, in July. So he proposed to her after approximately eight or nine months of dating? Okay, that’s not SO crazy. I think it’s probably about average actually. And Donnie proposed to her with an absolutely giant yellow sapphire and diamond engagement ring. Here’s Jenny freaking out as she announced it on The View:

Is this cute? I don’t know. I’m missing the bride gene, but I love jewelry so I want to talk about the ring. The ring is ridiculous. It’s so huge!!! And a yellow sapphire is a unique choice – I guess people will probably think it’s a canary diamond because it’s basically the same color. As for Jenny’s excitement… congrats to her. How many times has she been engaged now? I think this is the fourth time?

Good luck to you too, Donnie. I actually sort of like him so I don’t know how all of this is going to end.

that’s the ugliest, tackiest engagement ring I think I’ve ever seen. suits her.

    • Annie2 says:

I think the ring is beautiful . I didn’t realize there were yellow sapphires. Just thought pink and blue.

      • mimif says:

Oh all kinds of colors of natural sapphires…Google Montana & Padparadaschas sapphires for a good time. 🙂

      • JD says:

I love the ring too. I’m a sucker for pink, yellow and blue stones.

      • Francesca says:

I want to eat a padparadscha.

      • I don’t know why, but for a long time I thought that each stone was only one color–like I thought all sapphires were blue, amethysts were purple, diamonds clear, emeralds were a deep green, etc…..

      • Jenna says:

Sapphire comes in every color of the rainbow except red. If it’s red it’s a ruby (they are the same mineral). Emeralds, aquamarine and morganite are all the same mineral.

  2. Greata says:

I actually like these two together.

  3. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

I like that he is dating someone his own age. Not a big fan of her and the pseudoscience she espoused all those years.

  4. bammer says:

How is it going to end? Badly. He’s a womanizer. At least they are around the same age though.

  5. lunchcoma says:

Eight months might worry me if we were talking about a pair of recent high school graduates, but I’m not going to fret over a couple of people in their early 40s who have both been married and had children and who don’t strike me as out of control Charlie Sheen types. I suspect they both know what they want by now.

I wish some deity would decide to magically remove Jenny McCarthy’s famousness, though, and consign her to being an ordinary person again. Her idiotic views about vaccines have done a lot of harm, and anything that gives her a platform concerns me.

    • Erinn says:

      THIS. especially the second half.

      • Sabrine says:

I can’t stand her since she’s endangered a lot of children and has potentially put them in harm’s way with her uninformed and ignorant mouth regarding vaccines. A baby with whooping cough struggling for breath is heart-breaking. You see polio has resurfaced, not saying it’s her fault but we certainly don’t need morons like her spouting off against vaccination.

      • Jag says:

Please research on the CDC website to see that the whooping cough outbreak of 2010 actually started in the 98% compliance rate vaccinated children population under 2 years old, and they developed a harder to treat strain due to mutation, which they then gave to other people. The same thing is happening with the measles vaccination today, but in a lesser amount of people infected.

The problem is that the vaccinations of today are cheaply made an ineffective, depending upon brand and manufacturer. If vaccinations really worked, then having a segment of the population without vaccinations wouldn’t matter because the vaccinations would make up for it. But money-making, corner-cutting, uncaring Big Pharma isn’t making quality vaccinations anymore. Even the tetanus vaccine is supposed to be redone every 5 years now, instead of 10, because it doesn’t work as well. (Watch out for the aluminum in it.)

      • Nina W says:

Vaccines absolutely work, Jag, one cough in 2010 does nothing to undermine the vaccine theory of medicine or it’s long term success. I’m sorry for people who buy into fear mongering and misrepresentation of facts but I suggest people discuss this with their doctors rather than going by celebrities with dubious ideas or anonymous people online.

    • Just Passing Through says:

      I concur.

    • Tiffany :) says:

I agree. I don’t have strong thoughts about their engagement or the timing. I do have strong thoughts about her stupidity. I find her incredibly irritating.

    • marla says:

Harm? Please tell ! What kind of harm to children? If anyone is really interested in the history of vaccines and why they do not really work listen to Dr. Sherri Tenpenny. Yes, she is a medical doctor. She has seen a lot of negative effects of vaccines and has done tons of research. Very intelligent woman who knows her facts. You can find her on youtube.

      • Nina W says:

One doctor? You are spreading misinformation and the medical doctor who started this ridiculous vaccine controversy lost his license to practice because he deliberately spread false information linking autism and vaccines. He lied in order to make his career, he pandered to people’s fears and took advantage of a vulnerable group; are these the voices you find trustworthy?

      • marla says:

First of all She is a she! I do not know the Doctor you are referring to but Dr Sherri Tenpenny is a well researced medical doctor with a lot of inside informationtion the average nonmedical person does not have. She is worth a listen!

      • Hanna says:

Checking more info about the Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, sorry, but I don’t buy her. Especially when many other people, including people from Academics and American Health make serious questions about her methods, results and studies. And finally, this woman was out of practice in a long time without real contact of the issue. Both doctors aren’t exactly worth of listening and trustworthy.

      • Lilacflowers says:

The facts are that, when the US cut back on its vaccine programs in the 1980s, over 200 children died in a single measles outbreak. Vaccines eradicated smallpox. Vaccines seriously reduce the number of cases of measles, mumps, whooping cough, tetanus, and polio, and with fewer cases of these diseases come fewer deaths.

      • marla says:

Of course they do! Shes challenging big pharma and their practices. Anyone that speaks out about big pharm is going to get attacked and vilified. Thats how they roll so that people do not question things. Just do what they tell you! Lol. I think she is great and highly credible. I recommend people listen to her being interviewed by Natural News. Its on youtube.

      • vivian says:

Marla, I just checked out Dr Sherri. Wonderful information! I will pass this on to some friends of mine.

    • cat says:

Thank you, Jag. I did not know this particularly about the tetanus shot but the rest as well – it sounds pretty credible.

  6. Kiddo says:

I’m ‘immune’ to caring about either.

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

Me, too. Because I got vaccinated.

    • mimif says:

      Love it.

    • Just Passing Through says:

Can I just tell you how much you girls rock? 🙂 🙂 🙂

    • woodstock_schulz says:

      + eleventy-billion! 🙂

    • Tiffany :) says:

Did you guys read about the Measles risk at the Seattle Kings of Leon concert? A young woman who went to the concert had measles. You can be contagious for days and not show symptoms, and the disease stays for hours in the air even after a person is no longer in the room. From NPR:

“”It can stay in the air for hours after the contagious person has left. If we don’t treat these people, the chain of transmission can continue.”

“she went to work at a bakery, filled her car up at a gas station, went to the concert, went to Pike Place Market and went out for sushi. All the while she was spreading viruses in the air.”

“It takes one week to 17 days after exposure to become ill, so people who were at the Key Arena for that concert might still get sick this week.”

      http://www.npr.org/blogs/health/2014/04/07/300232844/measles-at-a-rock-concert-goes-viral-in-a-bad-way

      • amurph says:

That is horrible. There’s also been measles cases popping up in New York – even in people who were vaccinated. I know of a local school where Whooping Cough has come back in full force (over 15 cases). It’s a little scary.

      • Tiffany :) says:

It is horrible and very scary. Hopefully the scientific community has learned a lot about this recent social experiment with lax vaccinations. That is the only good I can see coming from this. Hopefully people realize that the vaccinations that were recommended for decades were doing a great job, and to go off that path is to put your family and others at risk.

      • Mayamae says:

My cousin and his wife have raised their children in Florida and now Georgia. The kids are in high school now and do not get vaccinated. Their parents refuse for religious reasons and get away with it. By the way, they have no religion – they lie and have never been challenged by the state. I’m a nurse and it makes me crazy! They spout nonsense about their children having improved immunity.

      • Isa says:

People are not realizing it! Go to babycenter on any of the birth boards or crunchy and ask them if they vaccinate. It makes me sick to my stomach. They say they’re not going to risk their babies, not going to shoot them up with chemicals, and that herd immunity doesn’t exist.

      • Nina W says:

People are free to risk their children’s lives but I fell sorry for everyone who has to suffer the consequences because of their carelessness. I received all recommended vaccinations as a child and I get the flu shot annually and I’ve had the tetanus booster. I will probably get the shingles vaccine. I fear the illnesses far more than the vaccines but I understand how vaccines work and I think a lot of people don’t understand them and that’s why they’re willing to believe they’re dangerous.

  7. Clucky says:

Was that video on fast forward or did she take a few dozen hits of speed before the show?

  8. roxy750 says:

Watch the Wahlburgers show and you will change your opinions of “liking” any of these Wahlbergs or Jenny for that matter, I always liked Donnie and Mark as actors and thought they were pretty cool until I stomached watching this show. They are all so full of themselves and talk about how poor they were and he dresses ridiculous. I couldn’t continue watching the program. It was exhausting. I really tried rooting for this family but it was so so difficult. Seriously watch about 5 or 6 episodes. Ugh. (WITH THAT THEY ARE PERFECT FOR EACHOTHER)

    • Delta Juliet says:

It’s funny, I never liked Donnie and had a huge crush on Mark. After watching the show (my husband made me haha) I don’t mind Donnie so much but Mark just seems like such.a.dick.

I like Paul though. Poor guy.

      • roxy750 says:

I agree, Donnie is not as bad but they keep telling their “poor” stories and it’s like, okay, we get it!!! Paul I do feel bad for but ya Mark is a DI** BAG!!! Totally! Bad PR Move!

      • Dawn says:

I never like any of them until I watch the Wahlburgers show and now I like them all. I do think Marky Mark can be a little prickly but Donnie is wonderful and seems like he is a very nice guy as does Paulie. And they treat their mother like a goddess which to me is a good thing! I will take this family any day of the week over lots of other’s that have reality shows. Anyone ever have a Wahlburger?

      • TheCountess says:

Paul is a doll. I thought Donnie redeemed himself *somewhat* in the episode where he brought Jacques Pepin in for a birthday surprise.

        Mark, though… he’s just a jerk.

      • Shantal says:

Well, we are talking about a guy who had a habit of attacking racial minorities and permanently maimed an older Asian man, who and doesn’t feel the need to apologize to his victim because he has “paid for” his crimes (by spending a few weeks in jail) and he has “forgiven himself” for it. Calling him a “jerk” is putting it mildly. More like a totally worthless piece of sh*t.

      • Lilacflowers says:

@Dawn, yes, I’ve been to the restaurant. The food is good and I’m really picky about burgers. This isn’t Paul’s first restaurant; he’s had at least one other and worked at several more and his food generally gets good reviews from restaurant critics.

      • TheCountess says:

@Shantal, I’m speaking as to how Mark treats his brother on their reality show, nothing else. No need to lecture me on my choice of descriptive.

      • jaye says:

@thecountess…I don’t think Shantal was “lecturing” you about your choice of descriptive. I think she was agreeing with you and then taking the disdain for MW one step further.

    • Lilian says:

@roxy750 I also tried watching. Couldn’t go past 3 episodes, it was so annoying and ridiculous, and terribly edited as well, that show sucks big time! I used to sort of like the Wahlbergs but now I think they are just really silly with an overblown ego. Paul seems to be ok, but even the mom annoyed me. And Jenny… no comments.

      • TheCountess says:

@Lilian, the “Girls in Hoodies” on Grantland did a hilarious recap of the debut episode, especially the part where Mark and Donnie are talking about having to sometimes eat leftovers for dinner as if that’s a unique experience growing up. You should check it out for a good laugh.

  9. TheCountess says:

Oh dear. Somehow this will become ridiculously incorporated into “Wahlburger’s.”

    • ~Z~ says:

Um, isn’t that why she snagged him?

      • TheCountess says:

No, “Wahlburger’s” was in the pipeline well-before. The filming was crazy and if you watch closely, you can tell how episodes were not put together in any coherent order.

  10. embertine says:

I hope he’s had his shots. OH NO WAIT

  11. Ag says:

i can’t muster any excitement for her. she’s a public health threat, has been for years, and should not be given ANY platform, not even one from which to shriek about her engagement.

    • Elisabeth says:

      +1
the use of the word ‘shriek’ made me laugh

    • holly hobby says:

You can add Alicia Silverstone to the list too. She wrote a book saying her kid isn’t vaccinated and he doesn’t get sick because she feeds him miso soup every day. Such misinformation – shameful. Honey, miso soup isn’t going to help your son if he gets, polio!

  12. paola says:

OH MY GOD. She is totally crazy. That reaction is something i will never understand.

  13. Chicagogurl says:

Only reasons I would get this fake excited is if i won the lotto, gwenyth paltrow got pie-faced by a “real” mom or i woke up 40lbs+ lighter.

  14. hazeldazel says:

    Damn, poor Donnie Wahlberg…

  15. Chinadoll13 says:

Wow I can’t believe this!!! She’s so fake and he’s such a womanizer….we’ll see where it ends up. Best wishes lol

  16. Shiksa Goddess says:

I don’t like her. I find her insanely annoying. My co-worker got me hooked on that Wahlburger reality show and Donnie actually seems like a genuinely nice guy, so this kind of disappoints me.

  17. Mitch Buchanan Rocks! says:

Mattel could make a goldmine off of Jenny and Donnie dolls – Jenny dolls would come with removable implants in different sizes and Donnie dolls with a variety of hair plugs.

  18. BeckyR says:

Hope he is ready for a big dose of crazy.

  19. Bananapants says:

I hate to get all Gwyneth Paltrow on y’all this early in the day, but I’ve always found it terribly gauche for a woman in her 40’s to get squeally about an engagement, particularly if this isn’t her first time at the rodeo and she has children. It strikes me as tacky. Yes, I am horrid.

  20. Maybe says:

    He’s awesome on Blue Bloods.

    • Size Does Matter says:

He was really good in Band of Brothers, too. I don’t get them together. I thought she and Jim Carrey worked, though, and apparently they didn’t.

  21. Bella says:

    Congrats.!
I wonder what Mark Walberg thinks and his wife Rea that in the mtv awards she had this mega bitch face hahaha

  22. Cinderella says:

She’s carrying a little Wahlberg, maybe?

    • Shiksa Goddess says:

Oh Lord Jesus help us all if that’s true. It’ll be an incubator for polio and measles due to the no vaccination policy she’s such a fan of.

      • NotaDudubfananymore says:

So, a 4th one that is great he has the two with ex wife Kim, than one with the model he keeps hidden than maybe having another that would be insane and crazy. Plus after 40 the risk than no vaccination spells disaster. Donnie needs to get snipped and people need to stop believing his good guy I care about everybody crap. He bleeds his fan out of their money and only pays mind to rich groupies.

  23. OTHER RENEE says:

I thought she bought the ring herself to pressure him into an engagement. Where on earth do I read these things???

I cut her some slack because I believe she’s been through a lot of hell with her son especially after the father checked out of their lives. I give her a pseudo pass for doing what she truly believes is right even if I don’t agree with her.

    • Jess says:

So her ex husband isn’t really involved? That’s pretty crappy on his part!

      • OTHER RENEE says:

I believe he decided he couldn’t handle an autistic child. Apparently Jim Carrey did step up to the plate in that regard.

      • holly hobby says:

Then she bitched and moaned to the media that Jim didn’t call her son after they broke up. Sorry but she’s a loser.

  24. Jayna says:

She’s really in love with him. And I saw him on WWHL and he seems really in love with her too but in a cute way He didn’t go all Tom Cruise over the top about her You could just tell he was serious about her and happy. So I’m happy for them. I think she is devoted to the man in her life. She was with Jim and seems to be the same way with Donnie. And it’s refreshing to see a guy in Hollywood marry someone his age.

  25. Mandy says:

I think they’re kinda cute together. I mean, I like Donnie more than Jenny. So, for his sake I hope things work out.

  26. illandri says:

I agree. WTF is she wearing?! Her face looks a LOT like Katie Price in that last pic. Is it just me??

    • deehunny says:

i was just thinking she gets great work done. not cat face at all. that’s the way to do it

  27. Crank says:

I hate her with a passion. Aside from her ridiculous autism/vaccine crap, her personality drives me nuts. And once I looked at her nude playboy…gag.

    • Mystified says:

I dislike just about everything with which she associates; that is how bad her crossover appeal is for me. I dislike, Playboy, MTV, Candies shoes, the View, Jim Carrey, and now, unfortunately, Donny Wahlberg.

  28. jferber says:

He must be mega-rich for her to consider him an option. Whatever happened to Jim Carrey’s trust fund for her and/or her son? I guess that was canceled along with the relationship?

    • NotaDudubfananymore says:

No Mark is the rich one what he makes in one movie is what Donnie net worth is. I think Jenny just wants her name out there in the news. Donnie is just her little playtoy for now. You notice in all the news it will say Donnie Wahlberg the “boyfriend” of Jenny McCarthy. I hope Donnie gets used to being Mr. McCarthy since he needs to always be center of attention. As much as I don’t like Jenny I think he is using her but she is probably using him as well good old hollywood relationships. I think she better think twice about him especially since he still messes around with his groupies, I hope she uses a condom. So she won’t have a gag order put on her to, but Jenny has money and more clout than him so if he screws her he will be a more than a chump than he has been since he got the model pregnant.

  29. Godwina says:

Lord forgive me for the ableist comment I am about to unleash, but:

Crazy marrying crazy. What could possibly go wrong?

  30. Delta Juliet says:

I just remember how annoying she was on New Years Rockin’ Eve or whatever show it was and she was her usual loud obnoxious self. Then she said she was going to make out with the love her of life at midnight and …there was Donnie. I was like “ugh”.

  31. NotaDudubfananymore says:

I am wondering now that he is marrying her after he left his broken family, for getting Michelle Tomlinson pregnant and leaving her to raise a baby alone and put a gag order on her will her start taking care of her since now he has Jenny to help him pay. I hate deadbeat dads.
