Chris Brown’s trial delayed for months, he’ll be in jail until at least June

Singer Chris Brown and girlfriend Karrueche Tran leave club Icon after hosting a party for radio host Big Boy from Power 106 in Los Angeles
We reported yesterday that Chris Brown was about to stand trial in DC for the assault of a man last October. Chris’ bodyguard was found guilty of misdemeanor assault stemming from that incident, but Chris still has to face charges. He was recently transported from LA to DC for his trial. Chris may have avoided jail had he not been kicked out of rehab or if he would have abided by the terms of his probation and not beaten the sh*t out of someone. He’s facing the consequences and is of course not happy about it and not ready to take responsibility for his actions.

Chris’ trial was postponed until June 25, and Chris was flown back to LA to wait in jail. When his trial finally happens, he’ll be flown back to DC again (on Con Air, natch) to face trial. He’s been trying to get released on bail as he awaits trial, but the judge denied his lawyer’s request. If he’s found guilty of assault, he faces up to four years in prison. Here’s more, thanks to TMZ:

Chris Brown will rot behind bars until June — at the very least — because the singer’s latest bid for freedom was just DENIED.

Brown — who was jailed last month after getting booted from rehab — was flown to D.C. and promptly jailed as he awaited trial in his assault case.

The trial was supposed to start today … but it was just postponed until June.

Brown asked the judge in the Rihanna beating case to release him, but the judge just shut him down.

Translation: Brown will soon be flown back to L.A. — where he’ll remain in jail until June … at the very least. It looks like he’ll be flown back to D.C. on Con air … a trip way worse than economy.

The stakes are high … if Brown is convicted in D.C. … the judge in the Rihanna case could violate his probation and sentence Brown to four years in PRISON.

Meanwhile Hollywood Life is reporting that Chris is very upset in jail and that he broke down crying on the phone to his on-off girlfriend, Karrueche Tran. A source told Hollywood Life that Chris told Karrueche that “he’s tired and that he couldn’t sleep… he doesn’t know if he’ll be able to fall asleep because he’s nervous.

He told her to keep her fingers crossed for him and keep good thoughts because he doesn’t know what’s going to happen.

I would feel sorry for Chris if I didn’t watch him freak out about the media over the years, play the victim and continue to assault people. As many of you pointed out in yesterday’s post, Chris beat up Frank Ocean over a parking space at a recording studio in January. This was after he was charged with punching out that guy for in DC for trying to take a picture with him. He knew he violated probation for that earlier incident but he still couldn’t control his fists.

Looks like he’ll spend most of 2014 locked up. Oh well… lesson learned? Maybe. In his case, it’s hard to tell.

I honestly don’t know if jail makes a bit of difference. Lindsay talked about it on her reality show and she seemed totally unfazed.

    • HH says:

IIRC, Lindsay has never been in jail for a significant period in time (only a few days). That’s probably why jail never made a difference for her.

    • Leen says:

When I heard the incident took place in DC, I knew he was in big trouble. DC courts don’t mess around. It’s why the crime rate dropped a significant amount in the last 10-20 years.

    • Rachel says:

There’s a big difference between a few days in jail and prison.

    • Miffy says:

I know, I’m glad he’s suffering the consequences of his actions but I’m not sure putting someone with obvious anger issues and impulse control into a typically violent facility is going to help any.

      • Jadzia says:

I’m not sure that leaving somebody with obvious anger issues and impulse control out in society to victimize the rest of us would be very helpful either. He had the opportunity to get it together in rehab and failed to do so.

  2. Dani2 says:

Best news I’ve heard all day tbh.

    • Tiffany says:

I came here to say the same thing. Does that make me a bad person? And if so,
      should I care.

  3. blue marie says:

And that is the absolute best place for him.
I would feel a little bad for Chris if he showed even an ounce of remorse for any of the crap he’s pulled or people he’s beat up.

    • +1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000…
I would have kept going but I got tired of hitting the “0” key.
Hopefully I got my point across though.

      • blue marie says:

ha, you did! Was it beer that did you in?
I have a problem with beer, in that once I get to the 3rd I have a hard time cutting myself off before I’m hammered, it sneaks up on me.

    • lucy2 says:

Exactly – no remorse, no regret, no growth, no attempt to change his ways.

  4. LB says:

    Good.

Which would be more likely – Chris Brown getting it together or Lindsay Lohan?

    • Bread and Circuses says:

Chris, because he’s currently experiencing a weeeee bit more than a friendly pat on the firecrotch.

There’s no guarantee the lesson will sink in, but at the very least, he’s probably worked up a solid aversion to wearing orange by now. Human decency didn’t make him hesitate to throw chairs and punches around, but fear of going through this again *might*.

  5. Konspiracytheory says:

    Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha…that is all.

  6. Lucy says:

All my Christmases have come at once. What the hell was he expecting an all inclusive holiday retreat? You’re in JAIL bellend. Maybe he’ll learn to keep his fists to himself

  7. snowflake says:

omg, that stupid b karruche is still around? wow, it’s amazing what she will tolerate from this douche.

    • Kim1 says:

Yeah it reminds me of what Hillary has tolerated from Bill Clinton for decades.Being cheated on, disrespected, etc. Stupid b ?
I’m not comparing CB to Bill. Are women who stay with cheating partners, abusive partners “stupid b’s”
Anyway maybe these months in jail will have a sobering effect on CB.

      • taxi says:

Fear not, Hilary can take care if herself quite well when she wants to & she’s no “stupid b’.” The Clintons may have started out as a loving couple but they morphed long ago into a business partnership. The “business” is money & power.

      • Lauraq says:

Hillary and Bill are using each other for the others’ benefit. I don’t like Hillary, but stupid she is not.
(Additionally, I’ve heard Sarah Palin speak live and she is sharp as a tack as well. That’s what really bothers me about her…Why does she want everyone to think she’s stupid? It seems sinister to me.)

    • Merritt says:

Maybe if our society didn’t send mixed messaged to women, they wouldn’t end up in abuse cycles.
Society tells women that they need to stay and fix relationships. But then when the worst happens, blames the women for staying.

The women are not “stupid b’s” as you have dismissively called them.

      • Seen says:

I haven’t heard “society” tell any woman to stay in an abusive relationship.

      • Merritt says:

        @Seen

Really? Because it happens all the time. Women are in emotionally abusive relationships and the advice they are given is to fix them. Studies have shown that things can go from emotional abuse to physical abuse pretty quickly. There was a show on VH1 called “Tool Academy” which dismissed the men who clearly at the minimum emotionally abusive as merely “bad boyfriends”. And then proceeded to make sure the women knew it was on them to help rehab these men.

Then there is of course “Twilight” which depicts a clearly emotionally abusive relationship. Edward threatens to commit suicide, which is one of the biggest red flags.

And while it may be easy to dismiss this as entertainment or not something that affects people. How relationships are marketed in pop culture affect people. It affects how people view they own relationships. And it is dangerous to dismiss.

  8. L says:

Funny how the guy who is always being so ‘tough’ and acting violent towards women/frank ocean/random strangers is scared shitless about being in prison. Isn’t that always the case with bullies? All big talk until someone puts them in their place.

  9. Mimz says:

I think he needs to face jailtime but I must also remind you all that this man has mental issues, so his claims of “not being able to sleep” and freaking out at the media and etc at a stage a few years ago, he is an untreated bipolar. And that deserves a little bit of my sympathy.
So I wish him all the best, as I do wish to LL and to everyone who is mentally unstable…
They all must face the consequences of their actions, nonetheless.

    • winosaurusrex says:

Yes and no. If he has serious problem he will get treatment in jail.

I don’t deny he may-and most likely does, however that does not change the fact he is a rage monster who has never bothered taking steps to get help or control himself. And for that I cannot and will not forgive him.

Maybe, just maybe, if after all of this he DOES get the help he needs, makes an effort, disappears for awhile and stops pretending he is the victim, then maybe, he can be welcomed back in to civilization. But he really is going to have to prove he’s changed.

    • msw says:

But he was being treated. He went go rehab where I guarantee almost everyone has comorbidities and they would have sniffed out bipolar disorder. If he chose not to accept treatment (i.e., medication, therapy) or got himself kicked out for bad behavior, he is responsible.

I do have sympathy for anyone suffering from such a terrible disorder and I know getting treatment is easier said than done, but he is still responsible for his own actions.

      • Trashaddict says:

Tammy I’ve seen people have more access to a shrink in jail than on the outside. I know a shrink who did med management in the jail system. Treatment? Yes. Optimal treatment? No. And do you think Chris Brown would voluntarily go see a psychiatrist on the outside?

  10. Snazzy says:

The title of this post made my day! Let him rot

  11. the original bellaluna says:

    Right where he belongs. FINALLY.

  12. Ms. Lady says:

Remixxxxxx- The court sytem really wants him, and his lawyers can’t do nothing for him. Awwwww Chris Brown’s in jail, wooahh, with out the bail, yea yea. (A remix to These H**s aint loyal)

  13. Dominque says:

The Frank Ocean incident is from January 2013, not 2014. Making it an occurrence long BEFORE the D.C. incident in October.

  14. msw says:

Good. Violent offenders need to get locked up. I will never understand why drug users sit in prison longer than a holes like him. They like that low hanging fruit.

they should have thrown his ass in jail for last few times this happened. he beat the ever loving s*** out of someone and got probation and community service. No jail time. That is f***** up. no wonder we have so many problems with domestic abuse in this country. The sentencing shows we don’t take it seriously.

  15. kim says:

I hope he doesn’t think he was going to be free do the time because u are paying for the crime.

  16. Maggie says:

You know what else is super awesome about him geting transported back and forth? He gets strip searched at each facility.

  17. Emily C. says:

Good. He’s starting to feel what it’s like to be treated like a normal person, rather than a celebrity. He should be in jail anyway for attempted murder of Rihanna and continued beating on other people.
