Has Duchess Kate hired a bum-watcher to prevent more ‘Marilyn Moments’?

wenn21408323

Following Bum-gate, which was easily the seventh or eighth “Marilyn moment” from Duchess Kate during working hours, it does feel like someone somewhere has put their foot down. It’s one thing for a newly-minted duchess to wear a loosey-goosey fluttery dress on a tarmac in Canada and show everyone her royal babymaker, but Kate is no longer a “new royal.” She’s been with The Firm for more than three years. She is married to a man who will be king, and she gave birth to a baby who will be king. It’s time for her to literally put on her big-girl panties, not to mention adding some weights to all of her hems. Or, you know, maybe not. Because all things royal have to come with some absurdity, the UK papers claim that Kate still doesn’t want to change her “going commando under a light, fluttery dress” ways. So she’s just hiring someone to keep an eye on her bum. Seriously.

The Duchess of Cambridge will be accompanied by a female minder to stop photographers taking embarrassing snaps of her, it has been reported. The move comes after a photo of her bare bottom was posted online by a German magazine.

The revealing pictures were taken when Kate’s blue and white Diane Von Furstenberg dress blew up on a visit to Sydney’s Blue mountains during her official tour of Australia last month.

No British magazine or newspaper would publish them so they were sold overseas in a move that will deeply dismay Prince William and Kate. German newspaper Bild featured the shot on their website along with another picture of Kate in Canada in 2011 when her yellow Jenny Packham dress did exactly the same thing. Both pictures were taken shortly after she disembarked from a helicopter, with the wind from the propellers causing her dress to blow up.

The Daily Star reports that Palace officials have now decided to employ a female minder to accompany the Duchess on shopping trips to prevent any more embarrassing photos.

Clarence House refused to officially comment on the publication of the photographs. A source said the household would ask publications to use their discretion when it came to using the pictures.

[From The Mirror]

What you do for a living? “Oh, I walk behind Duchess Kate so that every time her skirt blows up, I’m there to physically stand in between her naked arse and the paparazzi. Seriously, that’s my job.” This story is so absurd, it has to be true. Only a member of royalty would be so clueless as to think that THIS is the solution to the “Marilyn Moment” problem. Of course, there’s another theory: perhaps the royal bum-watcher works for The Queen, and Ol’ Liz just wants to keep tabs on just how many “Marilyn Moments” Kate really has, etc.

    ROFL!!!!!!

I don’t care whether this story is true.

    It made my morning.

    Ps: Kaiser, thank you 😉

    • FLORC says:

This story seems like pure satire, but i’m thinking there’s much truth to the saying “truth is stranger than fiction”.
This is the boost I needed this morning as well!

    • bluhare says:

I wondered if it was Groundhog Day and I’d woken up on April 1st instead when I read that story yesterday. A bum minder. You really can’t make this stuff up!

      • wolfpup says:

I am just struck, unwillingness of these people to take responsibility for their actions…(it is easier to blame others).

    • wolfpup says:

What’s so hard about wearing panties?

      • hmmm says:

Lift those panties, tote those panties, Waity. A herculean task, I know.

      • FLORC says:

        Wolfpup
In all honesty I have never seen or heard of Kate caring about her flashes. And her repeats and lack of avoiding those just supports the line of thought that she has no issue with it. It’s always the press or William that are unhappy.

      • Liberty says:

        Hmmm….your comment made my day.

    • ArtHistorian says:

This is aboslutely hilarous! That would be one weird job description. I doubt the story is true, but if it was then it should be mortifying for the Barebottom Duchess. It makes her look incompetent and infantile.

Well, at least I got a good laugh on a trying day.

      • wolfpup says:

The Queen had to do something!

If, the Queen did need to step in, I believe that it would be a private conversation. Who would say that the Queen publically humiliated a young woman? Who would leak that kind of rumor about a “bum ranger”? Besides, can’t the Duchess speak for herself?

I’m sure that Kate doesn’t listen to us, and apparently she needs to listen to someone. I just wish it hadn’t happened this way.

They don’t communicate very well with the “masses.” That’s an entitlement problem, not a press problem.

    • hmmm says:

I don’t believe it, it’s too ridiculous. They’re just taking the p*ss out of gullible readers. So silly.
It also is a devious way to throw shade on Waity.

      • bellpepper says:

I believe it. She recently attended a private wedding with 9 staff in tow. One of them is probably the butt-minder.

      • hmmm says:

9 staff in tow? Seriously???????!!!!! If true, it’s turning into quite the Versailles, isn’t it? Next, it will be a bum wiper. Or perhaps Justin Beiber is her idol. Soon she’ll be carried on the backs of RPO.

    • Feeshalori says:

Is this really a serious solution to the royal peep show? How about hiring Superman who with his super-sensitive vision can scope out photographers with long-range lenses and with his super speed can knock those cameras out of their hands pronto. That’ll be the solution!

  2. birdie says:

    Ridiculous.

  3. Audrey says:

Oh my god. Just weight your hems and get over it.

    • Rhea says:

      😀

    • Amelia says:

Does anyone know if you can weight the lining of dresses out of interest? Or does it change the way the fabric falls?
Just because I have a favourite peach summer dress, knee length and floaty, but it’s pleated. And if I try to adjust it, I know I’m just going to destroy the pleats, so I’m hoping I can get away with sewing small weights into the lining instead.
Kate is quickly becoming a complete and utter joke. I swear, she must genuinely be an exhibitionist the number of times this has happened.

      • Audrey says:

I think it will change how it falls honestly

Kate is going to need to actually plan according to the weather. And whether she’ll be doing things like riding in a helicopter lol

      • LAK says:

        I’m with Audrey.

….but you can buy some fabulous half/quarter slips from M&S.

      • FLORC says:

I’ve weighted a few of my flowy and pleated skirts/dresses. There’s such little difference if you didn’t know you would never suspect.

Someone a few threads ago posted a link to a site (DM?) that showed a girl wearing near identical outfits Kate wore when having exposed moments. They showed the skirts on the girl with a breeze and photos said no weight, 4 weights, 8 weights. not only did the weights make a huge difference, but you barely noticed them.

      • Amelia says:

D’you know, I never even considered a slip! I’ve always been worried they’d bunch up or make the dress look thicker.
        Thanks for the advice ladies!
What makes this whole thing funnier was the advert right next to Duchess Dolittle’s head when I clicked on the link; Sewing Classes.

      • bluhare says:

I always have a slip in the lingerie drawer, Amelia (nice to see you, by the way!). Not only for those kinds of things but it’s like spanx and smooths things on the way over your bum if your clothes are snug. I’m wearing a close fitting dress today and put a slip on underneath for exactly that reason. I hate spanx with a passion that is not normal. 🙂

      • LAK says:

Slips are made from very light weight material that stays put. Never bunches.

      • Amelia says:

Always lovely to see you bluhare, I’ve been a bit AWOL lately!
Why was I not taught this a teenager? I could have been saved so many soul-crushing shopping trips for spanx/control undies.

      • Juliette says:

        @ Amelia

        Wear a slip!

Slips are so underrated, but they are actually wonderful for maintaining one’s dignity in the face of a wind gust. I have a similar DVF wrap dress to Kate’s, and I always wear a slip underneath. I find that wrap dresses tend to open at both the chest and waist, so I wear a full slip and allow the hint of black fabric to show at the chest.

Bonus points: On hot summer days, the slip’s silk will keep you cool and keep you from having unglamorous sweat stains on your beautiful dress.

      • Blackcat says:

I have sewn small link chain around hems of my summer, lightweight dresses and I love them! I haven’t noticed that they make the lines of my dress any different. But I don’t have to worry about them blowing up. I would do it in more of my dresses but it takes too long to do.
Possibly weights may alter lines of your dress. Depending on their “weight” and if they went around the whole hem. I’ve never used actual dress or hem weights.

      • fairy godmother says:

Amelia- “Kate is quickly becoming a complete and utter joke”.

Funny from what I have observed over the past few years- she IS a complete and utter joke! She should have been torn to strips after the first or second incident. Her actions/behavior are complete overkill as are the excessive and unnecessary expenses- nine bodyguards for her at a “private” wedding? Redo decor/paint at KP less than six months after the first decorating, over use for personal use of helicopters,……….., and now a royal bum watcher? My God she is a disgrace to represent the country!

    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:

      Or wear a bloody slip.

      • Patty Cake says:

If she doesn’t like the effect the hem weights would have on the gown then she need not wear the dam gown. What a dark dimbo! Stop the slutty behavior Kate. If this story is true the she’s way more of a elitist than Gwyneth Paltrow. I don’t care if she is royalty at some point the entitlement has to stop!

    • Olenna says:

Yeah, what’s with the 9 bodyguards/RPOs at the wedding that fairy godmother mentioned? Were they expecting a riot or an aggressive crowd targeting her? Or was this, again, overkill, directed by PW because she’s such an ASSet to the Crown?

      • bluhare says:

I think they may have been afraid of consequence of her being there.

      • Olenna says:

Yeah, I can understand the concern, but 9 RPOs would indicate more than a couple of security vehicles, which would certainly draw attention to her arrival/departure.

  4. LadyMTL says:

I find this really, really funny. She now has an ass-guard? An ass-shield? Hahahahahaha. Honestly, weighting her hems would be the way to go, then she can still go commando or wear thongs and not have to worry about flashing anyone.

    • Dani2 says:

LOL! Ass-guard made me think of Thorvloo and yes, it’s ridiculous so I hope this is just a crazy rumour.
Can you imagine being that poor person though?
“So what you do for a living?”
      “Oh, I’m Duchess Kate’s @ss-istant?”
      “Um, cool, sounds interesting”.
Lol most ridiculous thing I’ve read all day tbh.

      • bluhare says:

It was in The Mirror, not exactly the highest brow of papers, but not exactly Star level either. Although I wouldn’t put it past one of them to feed a story to see who leaks it. That being said, if she really has hired someone to watch her bum, she’s stubborn to an almost unhealthy degree or am I overreaching on that one.

  5. wendi says:

Accompany her when she goes shopping??!!! I can’t recall any incidents that occurred during her “downtime” . Doesn’t she wear jeans or spray on leggings then anyway? Since no one seems to publish photos when she’s not on duty (or very seldom anyway) I think this is hogwash.

    • FLORC says:

When shopping it’s a random pic someone took on a cell phone and she seems to mostly wear more covering clothes. A reason why those don’t get published is the cell pics aren’t great quality and the rpo’s are doing their job.

      • sandy-o says:

I wonder why the article explicitly mentions her needing the extra help (to stop photos) when shopping….

    • rianic says:

I think it may be to help her choose clothing that won’t cause an accident

      • Ellen says:

That’s how I read it, too. She’s not going to have an ass minder in public, she’s going to have a dress monitor when shopping. “The Queen forbids you to buy that floaty, ass-revealing dress. Also, here are four packages of pants. WEAR THEM.”

It’s ridiculous no matter how you spin it. Although actually I do think it’s pure fan-fic. I’m not sure that any of the stories about Will and Kate are very well sourced these days. I don’t get the sense that any of the reporters on the royal beat has a reliable leaker from inside the palaces.

      • bluhare says:

I love this story, real or not. This thread has put a smile on my face.

If it’s to monitor her purchases, they’ll need to come sit with her while she shops at Net A Porter too.

      • wolfpup says:

        What’s Net A Porter?

      • Cricket says:

Maybe the person will accompany Kate to the fitting room with a handheld fan and hold it under the dress to see how much it flies up, if it passes the fly test

      • bluhare says:

wolfpup, it’s online very high end shopping. Go check it out. I used to buy clothes from there. They have the best packaging anywhere. Looking forward to the day when I can go back!

The outnet.com is their sale site. Some pretty good deals to be had sometimes.

      • wolfpup says:

        Thanks, bluhare.

    • P.J. says:

@Wendi: “to accompany her on shopping trips.” As in, the minder is on duty too keep an eye on what she’s allowed to buy from now on, not to prevent skirt fly-up pics being taken WHILE she’s out shopping! Lol. 😂

      • LAK says:

It’s a mark of how she’s perceived that this type of story can be written about her no matter it’s veracity.

      • AM says:

This, LAK. I thought that Richard Kay story was interesting over the weekend, about how William yells at staff for not treating Kate with the respect of an HRH. Well, why don’t they?

      • wolfpup says:

Could it be because of the royal peep show? (Sorry Kate).

      • Sharon Lea says:

AM – I read that article too, that William wants Kate to be curtsied to by domestic staff. Why??? I keep wondering how things would be if Diana were alive.

  6. Abbott says:

I like Kaiser’s conspiracy theory best. Still don’t understand why Kate hasn’t taken care of this situation.

Though I wonder what the official job title is. Guardian of the Cambridge Dumper?

  7. Allie says:

I found the story about her going into the Dorchester for her cousin’s wedding more interesting. Huge boycotting of these hotels going on by everyone else (Branson, Winotour), but they can’t take a stand, quiet or otherwise, huh? These guys are sooo worthless.

    • Lou says:

What’s the deal with the Dorchester?

      • LAK says:

It’s owned by the Sultan of Brunei, who has just installed sharia law in his country.

There is a boycott of Brunei owned assets worldwide. The most visible assets are the hotels like The Dorchester, The Beverly Hills Hotel, Le Meurice (sp?), Cowarth Park and others.

      • Allie says:

It’s owned by the Brunei royal family. They’ve just introduced Sharia law which includes taking measures like stoning people to death. Lots of big names have started boycotting hotels owned by them in London, LA and Paris.
I think if the royals want to modern and relevant they need to make some choices…
        http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2645844/Duchess-Cambridge-secretly-attends-wedding-hotel-owned-controversial-Sultan-Brunei-recently-introduced-harsh-Islamic-laws-calling-homosexuals-stoned-death.html

      • Lou says:

        oh wow, that’s awful.

Wait for Kate and Wills to change nothing about their hotel-staying habits, though. 🙁

      • Marmaduke45 says:

Via an unimpeachable source (who has a family member employed at one of the properties mentioned above) the “boycott” isn’t exactly as it seems. At least at the property where they work. The celebrities just use a back entrance.

      • FLORC says:

I will say this. I doubt Kate knows about this or cares to know about this. Her going into the dorchester is not her approving of those terrible acts. IMO it’s just her exercising her level of apathy towards world news, current events, and being aware of her actions given the platform she has.

She isn’t the only 1 either, but just because lots of people are still going there and supporting this by association doesn’t make it any less awful.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

Then Harry should be criticized, as well, for having his Sentebale fundraising gala there.

      • wolfpup says:

*FLORC* Apathy is such a sad term to be applied to a royal. Sharia law is no joke! Women suffer the most too; way unbelievable in my western civ mind. How very ignorant she must be – my heavens!

      • AM says:

What I do find interesting about this story is apparently, once again, Tanna was the only photographer on the scene – meaning he was tipped off by his regular source (presumably the Middletons). To be clear, there would not be pictures of Kate leaving the hotel if Tanna had not been there.

Apparently the papers are debating whether or not to publish the pictures, citing privacy. Pretty stunning.

      • FLORC says:

        Wolfpup
I don’t use Apathy when speaking of Kate loosely.
That is her greatest offence. She could dress as she pleases with all the extensions in the world attached to her head if she showed she really cared about her platform and took on a single cause. Or in this instance showed she or someone she surrounds hereslf with informed her and she went to another hotel. That small action and nothing else on her part alone would spark articles and bring attention to this.
But that’s how low the bar is set. Am I too harsh with this judgement?

      • The Original Mia says:

@AM, citing privacy? They publish pictures of her at various weddings all the time. The only differences are the fact this is her cousin and the wedding took place at a controversial location. I say publish away.

      • AM says:

        FLORC,
I do still feel strongly that this was her cousin’s wedding and I will give her a pass for that. However, if she truly is a secret workhorse with a secret agenda that is just being stifled by BP/Charles, she could use opportunities like these to make statements with her actions.

        Mia,
I agree. Just interesting to see how protected they are by the British media.

      • FLORC says:

        AM
Too much evidence of well documented events, schedules, press releases, and actions have shut down the theory kate wants to work, but is being held back. And her years of dating William.
That theory needs to be put to rest along with the surrogacy rumor/theory.

And sure. Because it’s a wedding she gets a partial pass for family.
Now if only she could visit her charities half as often as she attends a wedding…
Yup. It’s a snarky kind of day for me.

      • AM says:

        FLORC!
The “secret workhouse” bit was sarcasm on my part. If you want snark, where was George whilst Mummy and Granny were at the wedding and Daddy was at the polo? Oh, right.

Not snarking on them having a nanny, just using George as an excuse.

      • FLORC says:

Haha got it! I always mistake serious for sarcasm. Better to not overthink it next time.
George the bruiser can care for himself at this point no? Really, how long must a baby be dependent on its parents!?

      • bluhare says:

Snarkweek, don’t know about the rest of the internet but Harry was critised here about the fundraiser.

      • AM says:

Sarcasm doesn’t always translate in text, unfortunately. Just wanted to be clear that’s don’t think she’s a secret genius 🙂

      • AM says:

That I. Guess it’s past my bedtime.

    • TG says:

As long as the west uses oil no one will take a stand against the sultan. I saw on John Oliver’s show a few weeks ago showing the sultan at the duke and duchesses wedding and a clip with President Obama calling him his friend.

      • LadySlippers says:

        Agreed.

The US and the western world has some very unsavoury bedfellows — and all for liquid, black gold.

And to make matter worse, apparently oil companies buy up patents that would allow us to not be dependent on oil. Sad, eh?

      • mena says:

Before all this, many in the West had enjoyed great relations with Brunei. So, I don’t think it’s surprising that there is a lot of evidence of Western leaders being friendly.

I think the Sultan – as an individual – was seen as somewhat moderate & reasonable, certainly not so extremist in thinking as to declare Sharia Law, which is why it’s so shocking to the West that he did so.

There are rumblings that extremists have taken root amongst his people (and all over South East Asia) and the Sultan may have bowed to a vocal & rising population to try to maintain the status quo.

      • FLORC says:

My husband works for a company that has almost all their work from 1 of the worlds largest oil companies. He gets an inside view to just how awful they are and how little they really care about prices and the impact on the earth. I thought after watching a big oil doc I knew how awful it was, but it barely scratched the surface. I’d say they’re as bad if not worse than cig companies.
And sadly, this company is the best of the bunch in terms of how much they sink back into clean up and decontamination of land costs.

      • wolfpup says:

This information stuns me. A class struggle is in the future. Corporations and the ruling class are too rich and too powerful. I believe that will be the next struggle. And it is here, on this page. Wow.

      • wolfpup says:

I have to add that President Obama is my man.

I wish to revise my previous post, as I realized that I over-generalized. So I will generalize even further, in saying that the struggle is between the 1% and the 99%. No, no, no, that sounds like Jesus and the sheep…

    • Meerkat says:

I don’t think they care. Kate and William holidayed in the Maldives, Andrew sucks up to Bahrain, and Charles Dances With The Saudis (and a right twerp he looked, too). And did Kate really have nine RPOs with her?!

    • mena says:

I doubt the royals will boycott The Dorcester. Prince Charles has been friends with the Sultan of Brunei for decades. Charles’ go-to chef, Chef Mossiman, is the Chef at The Dorcester. Mossiman was the chef for W&Ks wedding reception that Charles’ hosted. And The Dorcester will be hosting an exhibit of Charles watercolor paintings in a few weeks. In fact, I think a few prints of Charles’ watercolors may be permanently hung in the hotel.

      • Allie says:

Yeesh. the only people who can make a difference with their actions (no one cares if I don’t go!) and they choose to take a back entrance. yuckyuck. oh people are being stoned to death, their arms cut off, yes but they are hanging up my “art” and they are such lovely people otherwise…

      • hmmm says:

You are known by the friends you keep. Geez, things just keep getting worse and worse for the royals. Good.

      • wolfpup says:

The ruling class is more powerful when united. Charles smoothed the feathers of the Sultan, more than any other royal. Photo calls with Charles improve the image and influence that the Sultan has. I bet he (the Sultan) even has one on the wall of his office. The plebs want a picture too.

      • Chameleon says:

And Prince Charles has the nerve to call Putin names. He compared Putin to Hitler.
Putin is no saint but seriously, Hitler?

    • A:) old prude says:

God help me I’m going to defend Kate!!

I can’t fault her at all here. She was the guest at her cousin’s wedding, if anyone maybe we can throw some shade on her cousin or the bride’s family or whoever picked this hotel but otherwise I think it would have been very rude and entitled of her to expect her relatives to change the venue of their wedding to suit her new position IMO.

      • bluhare says:

I think I’m with you on this old prude. (Although I’ve had to pick myself up off the floor watching you defend her, LOL). I’m going to be charitable and say that the cousin’s wedding was probably in the works long before the ban started, and it was too late to pull out without losing a ton of money? Maybe. Anyway, it was her cousin, and I probably would have gone too, and slunk in like she did.

That being said, I wouldn’t darken its door now.

      • Allie says:

don’t agree “old prude”. She can say – I’ll come ’round to the after-party, but I am not square with this guy, so I am not supporting this hotel, and you should do the same next time, and then “leak” that story. (I mean I know they get in hot water if they take specific political stands, but…)The whole in the back door thing is saying to me – I know what’s going on, but I am just going to go anyway and hope no one figures it out. I like what “FLORC” says about “exercising her level of apathy”.

      • AM says:

I agree. When I first saw the headline of her at the Dorchester, I figured it was for some leisure activity, but this was a family wedding. I would imagine her cousin and her new wife booked the venue some time ago.

      • wolfpup says:

It may have been rude, but what a point she could have made. Poor thing, she can’t even summon integrity in her choices. I kind of feel angry about that.

      • hmmm says:

If she had declined to attend the wedding but went to the reception, it would have been amazing. But that would require a social conscience, or in Waity the Innocuous, any sort of conscience.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

Let me get this straight. The Prince of Wales and heir makes a private comment with enough political overtones to cause an international debacle yet we expect Kate to boycott a family wedding in the same hotel Prince Harry hosted a star studded charity event in?? No one sees a double standard? No one sees a gender issue? When Harry and Cressida accepted that free ski weekend from the Kazahkstan goverment where was the outrage? Poor Harry, he couldn’t have known. Andrew should have told him not to go. The RPOs should have told him not to go. But few dared accuse the popular younger prince of outright ‘apathy’.

      • hmmm says:

Don’t feel angry, wolfpup. Expecting her to summon up integrity is like expecting her to understand the space-time continuum.

      • hmmm says:

As I recall, most posters here on that thread were supportive of Charles, so I don’t know where you’re getting your info from. I think with the Harry issue it was mixed (I do believe he gets too much of a pass).

IMO, all of the them, as public figures and reps of the relam, are subject to the same scrutiny and criticism, especially when it comes to stark issues such as the imposition of Sharia Law. No one gets a pass as far as I’m concerned.

      • A:) old prude says:

        Dame,

What on earth are you talking about? I don’t know about anybody else but I supported Harry and KATE too, so where the accusation of sexism is from? And DM and other sites are talking about all 3 of them, W,K and H for using this awful man’s property, so no before making such comments just look around a little bit.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

        Old Prude
If my words don’t apply to you personally then no harm, imo. But otherwise all anyone has to do is go back and read the relevant cb threads to see how opinions were trending at the time.
        HH
When I mentioned Charles it was in relation to the inconsistency of public approval when it comes to political posturing. And yes, I fully agree that there should be a no tolerance stand here.

      • FLORC says:

        Dame
I’d also like to add though Harry is gorgeous and the multiplies 100% per every child under 8 around him, but he makes my s–t list quite easily.
And prior to my FLORC days I was a big supporter of Kate.

And that ski trip scandal was big on other blogs as well as here. By the time I became fully educated on the matter it was bogged down by a day or 2 of threads. I can only really speak to myself.
And agree. There should be a no tolerance stance here for the bunch. This is a huge issue and more light needs to be shined on it.

Side Note. Political Posturing is a term I strongly dislike. Only because it sounds like people would rather act like they care for support, but never intend to follow through with it. If i’m wrong correct me.

      • Dame Snarkweek says:

        FLORC
I agree. And yes, your definition of political posturing is correct, at least as I understand it. I suppose it could also mean presenting a political platform, if one felt generous.

      • AM says:

I do think William and Harry are much more at fault than Kate on this one. Certainly they could have worked to have the polo venue changed?

      • hmmm says:

This is all juicy stuff. Really shines a glaring light on the character of the monarchy.

      • Liberty says:

Thanks, bluhare, for the link. They need to get informed and make world-savvy not strictly personal choices at this point in global history when facts are out and easily available. This isn’t the under-the-carpet 50s. Kate can’t order relatives to change a wedding venue but her staff can advise on impact and against attendance. Polo play can be declined. Umless this is all a very visible example of the lack of royal awareness of life beyond the bubble. Somehow I am most disappointed in Charles and Harry.

      • AM says:

        Liberty,
That Richard Kay article from the weekend also talked about William being frustrated and seeing himself as being capable of much more than just shaking hands. Well, William, if that’s how you feel, this would have been an excellent time to step up to the plate.

      • Ronia says:

Well, the article specifically says the polo event was “star studded”. So, regardless the fewe names mentioned to boycott the sultan, it seems far more are not part of it. Why no one states the names of all the stars who did attend the event? Amazing how in our profession we can make people focus on whatever we want and ignore whatever we want. It is written “star studded event”!

  8. Lou says:

I resent it being called a Marilyn Moment. Marilyn always wore underwear and never let this happen. This sort of thing needs to be described as a Kate Moment. So next time Lindsay Lohan goes commando, we can say she’s pulling a Kate. No need to slander poor Marilyn!

    • nora says:

      +1000000

    • Christin says:

True. Marilyn wore a modest undergarment and nothing showed.

This is so ridiculous. It’s a WORK dress code, Kate. No point in giving someone a ‘bum job’ when it’s so easy to prevent in the first place.

      • Allie says:

        oops

      • We Are All Made of Stars says:

Actually she wore at least two pairs of underwear and they tested the shot repeatedly because they didn’t want any see-through from the spotlight that was shining on her for the scene. Bit of film lore! 🙂

    • Reece says:

Yes! Or how about “Middleton Moment”, although I’ve never seen Pips or Carole fleshy backside so maybe not.

    • Kori says:

I think it’s just referencing her famous ‘skirt blown up’ moment from the Seven Year Itch–something iconic. It’s not intimating Marilyn herself was always flashing people or not wearing underwear. I think it’s just a pop culture reference.

      • ArtHistorian says:

It is simply a pop cultural reference that most people get instantly because of the iconic image of Marily in “The Seven Year Itch”. It is simply a form of culturally coded short-hand, not a moral judgement on Marilyn Monroe.

      • Lou says:

Oh, I get the reference. It was just a joke. Although I would totally welcome it being called a Middleton Moment. 😀

  9. lower-case deb says:

  10. Annie says:

She has ONE job to do. Walk around looking pretty. I cannot imagine anyone so sloppy.

  11. mena says:

Does anyone really think this is the last time Kate will flash her ass to the press? This is her ‘thing’, like her Little Miss Pagaent sausage curls. I don’t see her changing he ways anytime soon.

    • T.C. says:

      +10000

For whatever reason she doesn’t mind showing off her bits. Wills must not have a problem with it or she would change her clothes or get weights. They think it’s the press who is the problem for publishing these pictures.

      • wolfpup says:

The royals are not accepting responsibility for their actions!

      • Ronia says:

Which royals, wolfpup? To the best of my knowledge there is one in this family only flashing people and she is not even from the blood. Much generalizing, I’d say.

  12. Belle Epoch says:

And I thought being an umbrella holder was bad.

I think we should ALL send her underwear. Everybody. Poor thing can’t afford underpants.

  13. Daisyduck says:

    Simple solution: WEAR UNDERWEAR!

  14. Damaris says:

Can she wear pants? Is that so difficult?

    • FLORC says:

She can. Mostly only jeggings she looks poured into. I wish she’d wear a trouser suit. I’m going to change my name to Broken Record if I have to keep saying this, but she would look amazing in a pair of trousers. They give full coverage and make for a flattering silhouette without showing the world what only your spouse and gyno see.

      • Ellen says:

        Pants = underpants. Trans-Atlantic translation issues. 🙂

      • hmmm says:

Agreed. But I think she wants to look sexy, not elegant.

      • FLORC says:

        hmmm

I hope that isn’t the case in her mind. To look sexy for those day time events with kids. And with the right tailoring and frame trousers can make you look very sexy without having to expose yourself.

  15. eliza says:

I could have saved the British tax payers some money with these simple fixes to fluttery skirts/dresses: WEIGHT YOUR HEMS. WEAR UNDERWEAR. USE YOUR HAND TO KEEP OUTFIT FROM MOVING.

Simple solutions BUTT I suppose if you want to waste money hire some unnecessary person because you are too precious or entitled to do basic tasks yourself..

    IF this story is true.

  16. Sam says:

Haven’t most women mastered doing this themselves? If I need to wear a skirt and there’s wind, I know how to gather the skirt around my thighs and hold it with one hand until the gust subsides. The latest “moment” alleged happened while she was exiting a helicopter. Could she really not have anticipated the wind and held her own skirt? Really?

    • bluhare says:

      Her husband’s a helicopter pilot. She rides in helicopters a lot. One would think . . . . .

By the way, did you guys know the charity the photographer wanted to donate the money she got to won’t take it? What a waste of a great opportunity to turn lemons to lemonaid. (typo and I’m not fixing it).

      • hmmm says:

        Well, bummer.

I guess it’s best to donate anonymously with such ill-gotten gains. I wonder if that charity knows where all their donations come from and by what means.

      • FLORC says:

        That’s silly and awful.
        1. A charity can’t know where all their donations or the bulk of them come from. So, why get all moral over 1 unless the donor committed a crime to obtain the donated funds like murder and robbery. They may be making a statement, but not while people are in need.

        2. I hope another charity steps in and takes the money or knows how to put it to the best use.

        3. Next time the woman can donate privately, but I understand why she did it. To get it out that it was going to charity and that this happened and funds are needed.

  17. sandy-o says:

The Daily Star reports that Palace officials have now decided to employ a female minder to accompany the Duchess on shopping trips to prevent any more embarrassing photos
    ——————————————————————————————————————————————
Doesn’t she already have someone to take care of this? I’ve read that whenever someone is seen taking photos of her shopping or otherwise not “working”, she has one of her bodyguards intercept and do whatever is necessary to make it stop.

    • bluhare says:

Yes. Her royal protection officers. Apparently there’s now one whose sole focus is her butt.

This can’t be true. It just can’t.

      • sandy-o says:

Seriously doubt it too. How do they come up with this stuff???? Sure, she needs a bit of help in the commonsense dept. re: weighted hems, but when she’s on a shopping trip???! All she worries about there is being photographed.

      • hmmm says:

I think it’s a way to ridicule her inability to get a clue.

  18. Wren33 says:

Am I the only one who read this as she will have a female minder to accompany her on shopping trips to help her pick out dresses that won’t fly up, as opposed to having a female minder to actually prevent photos being taken?

    • TheEntrepreneursWife says:

Nope. That’s the way I read it, too. She needs to be supervised while shopping to make sure she buys work appropriate attire. It’s a new level of pathetic.

    • Ellen says:

That’s how I read it, too. And it strikes me as super-pathetic, as well.

    • bellpepper says:

Something tells me Kate is an exhibitionist.

  19. original kay says:

maybe she needs someone to shop with her to bring a fan along. you know?

a wind test, so to speak.

  20. dmg35 says:

I think they mean someone to accompany her on shopping trips so she buys clothes that won’t fly up. Otherwise they would have said accompany her on official visits or something.

    • hmmm says:

If that’s true, it frankly sounds medieval. Waiting for that chastity belt! (Well, at least she’d be a bit more covered up!).

  21. Jade says:

Please change Marilyn moments to Kate moments. Of all things to redefine or make a difference in, and she chooses this. Now, I’m not a tax payer so it’s fine if she wants to be a housewife or work less than the other royals and I don’t think she looks ugly. In fact, I am ok with most of her fashion and shoe choices. It’s just very sloppy to keep having these moments when she is working. Come on! Am i still considered a hater?

    • The Original Mia says:

I understand why they originally called them Marilyn moments, but at this point (14th flash), they have become Kate moments.

  22. P.J. says:

Guys, the article does NOT say that she’ll have a “bum minder” at all. Don’t get me wrong, I was ready to be LOL’ing and smdh all over the place too until I read this part that clearly states:

“Palace officials have now decided to employ a female minder accompany the Duchess ON SHOPPING TRIPS to prevent any more embarrassing photos.”

SHOPPING TRIPS. As in, she’ll just have a(nother) personal shopper/new minder with her to “tsk tsk” whenever she wants to buy something too short or lightweight but that’s about it.

And while this in and of itself is obviously miles more ridiculous than just forcing the girl to have weights seen into all of her skirts and dresses or assigning the royal tailors to do it behind her back, I can’t see how so many could possibly misinterpret the article as meaning that she’ll have a “bum watcher” with her for official appearances. The piece doesn’t once say or even allude to that anywhere at all. (I know the girl likes to find any way possible to blow money but there’s no way the Palace would let that one slip by!)

  23. Patty Cake says:

If she did indeed do this, I think she’s incredibly stupid. The public should be able to take pictures of her while she’s working without limitations. And if she gets caught with her skirt up then too bad for it, she should just deal with it. If you can’t put drause and hem weights over your arse Kate then you don’t deserve the title. I sure am tired of the elitist attitude.

    • sandy-o says:

Apparently the rpo’s that accompany can be quite aggressive if they spot someone taking a cell phone photo and will actually grab the person/their phone. It seems like they are more attuned to the risk of cameras and phones (gasp!!) than weapons and other actual security threats!

  24. Chichai says:

She should just accept a stylist or royal dresser that they tried to give her years ago. The royal minder sounds pathetic. Then again, she is a woman in her 30s who doesn’t know how to cover up for WORK properly after several warnings.

  25. coconut says:

if she can’t stand to add weights, why not wear straight skirts on her tarmac and helicopter days??

  26. The Original Mia says:

I think it’s utterly ridiculous she would have to have someone with her to ensure she buys the right kind of dresses or to ensure weights are put in them. She’s in her 30s. She’s a mother. She knows damn well she’s flashed numerous times. At some point, she should have the common sense to make sure these “accidents” don’t happen again. She doesn’t. So she’s either willfully stupid or so stubborn she’ll continue flashing well into her 50s.

  27. Patty Cake says:

Queen Elizabeth needs to put a stop to this behavior now. I think Kate is a spoiled, entitled nitwit that was raised with the attitude that society must conform for her and not she for it. She should be willing to do whatever it takes to properly serve the society that she committed herself to by marrying the Prince. I believe this story, and I also believe the stories of her being nothing but a closed-mouth slut in college that would do anything to get the Duchess title. I dislike her incredibly now.

    • wolfpup says:

You are right – that’s exactly what she did when she married Will. I’ve never heard it put quite like that – “she committed herself to society”…

    • bellpepper says:

I’m inclined to believe you Patty.

    • FLORC says:

closed mouth slut? I’m no fan of that term, but i’m just hearing it now. And “slut” isn’t a fair use here.
I’m not a fan of her, but that term seems more geared by hate than accuracy. Unless i’m not understanding the use of the phrase.

      • Patty Cake says:

Oh the term “closed mouthed slut” is just about some gossip that I heard about how loose she was in St. Andrews. It’s like hearing gossip about Kimye’s because their past or present actions set the bar so low it’s easy to believe almost anything said about them. I used to find Kate likable, but as I stated, I don’t care for her now. To me, if this story is true, although she’s the one in the wrong, she would be making everyone else in the common wealth societies conform to her, and that to me is despicable. In other words, my statements aren’t out of hate but more so out of a distaste for selfish behaviors.

      • FLORC says:

Thanks for the clarification Patty Cake.

I heard about the same from her uni days. And I was also a fan at 1 point until I peaked behind the curtain. How she treated other people was more what ticked me. Just textbook meangirling and generally unkind t those outside of the right circles. Not ignoring, but actively bullying and unkind to those.

Still, you used the term slutty Comment 3 in response to GoodNames upthread regarding her behavior. I’m not a Kate fan, but her behavior seems more exhibitionist, lacking awareness with her behavior. Not slutty though. That seems more like a personality based attack and less about her clothing choices. And you may be using it in another context i’m not aware of, but the word just doesn’t seem ok here.

    • Dame Snarkweek says:

I find your language offensive. I have a problem with Kate missing work while collecting the big paycheck – not her perceived sexuality etc.

      • Patty Cake says:

@FLORC, I see that my phrasing could have been better. I don’t mean that she is a slut. She behaves herself very well. I just mean that their is a time and a place for particular apparel or lack thereof. It would be ok for her dress to fly up and expose bare bottom at, let’s say, a nude beach but not at an event at work. She keeps mooning everyone, which makes me think in some way she doesn’t care if she offends the society she belongs to or not. Also, I haven’t read anything recently about her making an apology for what she continues to do and make a real effort to change. I just see this story as a sign that she is attempting to control the media and those who adore her and like taking pictures of her when she is the one clearly in the wrong. I’m southern and my mom taught me that if I wanted to be viewed in a respectful light then I had to gain that respect by respecting others as well as myself with good behavior and and appropriate appearance. She taught me not to make excuses for myself. Right is right and wrong is wrong.

      • FLORC says:

        Patty Cake
I agree with you. And you don’t have to be a southern bell or to even be raised well to have an understanding of shame or modesty about you.

The word slut in this case I just can’t get behind, but her behavior left a lot to be desired. For someone in her position it’s unacceptable and that it’s been tolerated this far should really be shaming the BRF.

  28. Tiffany says:

Well, a job is a job.

  29. bellpepper says:

Kate should put on some royal panties and start taking royal duties seriously. Stop obsessing over staying thin and being a fashion icon, she is not a celebrity.

  30. Lucky Charm says:

“The Daily Star reports that Palace officials have now decided to employ a female minder to accompany the Duchess on shopping trips to prevent any more embarrassing photos.”

I read this to mean that they hired someone to accompany her while she goes shopping to make sure that she buys only appropriate clothes that won’t have the potential to cause a wardrobe malfunction (or in Duchess Kate’s case, a wardrobe function). Which, considering her age and position, is pretty sad that would even be necessary.

  31. Jocelyn says:

What a weird idea. I honestly don’t understand why anyone would want to be Kate Middleton’s bum watcher. Kate does know that she can just add weights or if she doesn’t want to do that wear clothes that won’t fly up in the wind so why hire somebody for something that can be easily fixed. Somehow I can’t see this story being true. It’s too absurd but if it is that’s hilarious. I can’t wait to see photos of this bum watcher.

  32. mkyarwood says:

Is her bum watcher named Simon?

  33. fairy godmother says:

I am surprised the article does not include the latest news report:

Santa has a new reindeer. He has decided to name it after Kate. This Christmas we can all look forward to the debut of Santa’s newest reindeer: “Flasher”! Lol!

Girl must be hooked on stupid to not take measures to prevent this from happening.

  34. Jaded says:

She and William are fast becoming the most disliked members of the BRF. Immature, lazy, spoiled and useless. She should also hire a wedges and jeggings manager to prevent her from wearing them in public EVER AGAIN. Oh, and a hair controller so she’s not constantly fiddling with it or letting it fly madly around her face in the wind.

  35. India says:

    Solution to the problem: DIVORCE

    • FLORC says:

This will be brought up again if/when it comes to that.

    • Dany says:

should this happen (i think it will 🙁 in a few years) the press will bring all the old stories with a different tone and they will judge Kate! I wonder what some newspapers have for dirty stuff about the Middletons and William´s behaviour in their safes. Mark my words they will bring Kate and the Middletons down so the golden Prince will look as the winner… Diana´s son will be just the victim of his wife´s “faults”.

      • FLORC says:

        Dany
Should Kate or her parents try to fight through the press to help their image, hurt the BRF, or discredit what the side of Royalty is saying about the Midds (true or not) then yes that card could be easily played.
Will this happen jus because a divorce happens? No.

And I was positive a divorce would happen, but not as much anymore. Will and Kate live mostly seperately. They pull it together for events every so often. Why divorce if it’s working?
Only if the Midds or Kate really mess up. Like a black eye on the firm. Or William no longer wants to be married can I imagine a divorce, but that’s years down the road.

  36. Liberty says:

“You want me do…whats?” stammered Romina, the young 22-year-old foreign-born former literature student now sometime royal nanny. “No, no, you must be make the funny? For nots grown woman of modern day to needs such thing? In my country, we have saying, “Put your pant on, bad daughter of forest trolls, is not your basement room, is Church!!””

William Baldtop patted the trembling girl’s hand affectionately. “Yes, yes, jolly good you understand!” he told her. “Just stand behind the old thing at all times! Never look away! Always be ready to slap that hem down or leap in front of a camera! If she tries to move fast and lift the hem herself on a non- windy sort of arrival, no worries, just push her down to the ground and roll her under the aircraft and someone will throw a tarp right over! We’ll also be giving you a HELLO! to carry to cover her junk up fast if she’s too near a crowd! har! Right ho! Now, help me with the spray tan nozzle for polo! For once, old Freckled GingerRod won’t have all the eyes on HIM!”

  37. Stephme says:

Um, what is wrong with pants?! Geez, buy some slacks and call it a day!

  38. Francis says:

She’s just inept. Four yrs of marriage and still can’t figure out that she needs to wear undies and not show her rear on royal duties. No sympathy for her at all. She’s so common and I don’t mean social status. Her behavior is just tacky and common.

    • Feeshalori says:

Doesn’t she already have a dresser to help her with her wardrobe, or is it to help with her existing wardrobe and she needs someone else to accompany her for new items to determine what will pass the fan test? I’m sure Kate is more than capable of that; it’s just that she doesn’t want to and can’t be bothered with preserving her modesty. For someone who was supposed to blend in with the royal family and not be controversial or step out of line, she’s certainly ensuring she’s getting her day in the sun with these peep shows.

      • bluhare says:

We need someone with an “in” to see if that person who was functioning as her dresser is still employed as such. Or maybe she’s got bum watch duty.

  39. anne_000 says:

There must be something wrong with Kate that as a grown woman, she needs a bum-watcher. It says a lot about her intelligence level. I wonder if her parents are siblings?

    • bluhare says:

That was really mean, anne. Very very mean. Which means I’m a horrible person because it made me laugh.

FLORC!! Lashing with the wet wiglet for me!

    • FLORC says:

      Anne_000
That was very mean as Bluhare said. I am no fan of Kate, but there’s nothing you said that should have been said except for hate.

Now Bluhare. 3 lashes with the Wet Wiglet and 1 week of back seat wiglet wagon riding!

  40. filou332c says:

Thank you Lou. Calling it a Marilyn Monroe Moment is insulting.

  41. bee says:

She has a very bad habit, given the control and choreography of these events I would say her actions and choices are deliberate. Remember the taxi exiting, legs akimbo foul crotch shots pre marriage , less duchess more flasher.
