Victoria Beckham covers the July issue of Elle Singapore. I know. Another international magazine cover. A lot of us wondered if Victoria was depressed after Kimye scored a US Vogue cover, and Posh has had to settle for “lesser” covers. You know what? If I were Posh, I’d stop wanting US Vogue after the Kimye debacle. The magazine really downgraded itself by trying to appeal to the Kardashian demographic. Meanwhile … Victoria has been quietly building her international empire, and all those covers have only helped her.
Victoria’s wry sense of humor was out in full force during her cover shoot. She tweeted a ton of jokes as she posed it up. I like her so much more than I did during her WAG days. Remember the boob job denials and all of that fake-looking hair? Victoria is done with pretending. She’s not the greatest designer in the world (ha), but she’s a brand to be reckoned with:
On her customers: “I think that she’s a woman that wants to look good. Appreciates luxury. Likes fashion. I want to make a woman feel her best. I want to empower women.”
On her humor: “People are probably surprised that I have a sense of humour. I like to take the mickey out of myself. As much as I take what I do very seriously, I also want to have fun. I like to poke fun at myself … And I think that surprises people.”
What she’s trying to accomplish: “I’m not competing with anybody else out there; I’m just competing with myself. I never went into this to prove anything to anybody, other than myself.”
On taking charge of her career: “I think if you’re too afraid of failure then you won’t challenge yourself, then you won’t move forward. I like to challenge myself.”

Is Victoria telling the truth about not wanting to prove anything to anyone but herself? Maybe at the beginning, she wanted to silence her critics. She wanted to be more than a footballer’s wife. Now … she’s carved out her own career, and I think she means what she says. If I was in her position, I’d probably be holed up in a luxurious mansion instead of pulling all-nighters before fashion shows. Vic has surrounded herself with a competent support staff, but she does work hard.

Personally, most of the designs of hers I have seen, I have really liked. I do think she has talent.
I have always liked her. I like her and Becks together and I feel that they are extremely doting and loving parents to their children.
If I were her, I would not sweat one second of an American Vogue diss. In my opinion, Vogue has sucked since eliminating actual models from it’s covers and pages in favor of actresses. I canceledmy subscription in the late 1990’s and literally have not bought an issue since. The Kardashian cover blew whatever respectability Vogue ever had. Victoria should just be happy with her life as is and screw Vogue!
Almost every time I see a dress that I love, it’s one of hers. I just really like the simple, elegant styles.
I also find her rather charming.
I like her more now than I used to, I think she’s relaxed and has stopped fussing so much about how her boobs look, how long her hair is, and so on. I do find her really funny as well, and she definitely has charm.
I love her designs. I also lover her ‘signature’ full length zipper down the back of her dresses. If Audrey Hepburn were still around, Victoria would be her go-to designer.

Me too. I was surprised at first! Her dresses always make me think that I would look good in them (oh, vanity!). She seems like she knows how to highlight good areas and balance proportion in a way that is very flattering.

I love the on-the-floor-in-robe-uncomf bed tweet. And the second shot of the dress is fantastic – I want that dress.
Simple and elegant styles? Her clothes have great simple lines and they are elegant, but they are not made for anyone much bigger than a 4. And they make 4’s look wide. I wore a dress from her collection as a fit 0-2 and felt like I had more imperfections than I did.
Maybe i’m bias though. Her styles are nice and terrible. Casual awesome and Formal can be depressing.
Me too. I love her designs! The last couple of collections were a bit iffy for me, but overall, she is a good designer of classic, stylish pieces with a little innovation to them. Even though I don’t think she’s a particularly positive role model for young girls (I fear a bit for her daughter’s body image in the future), I like that she has worked hard, found her niche, and has a sense of humor about it. I am glad that she and David weathered the storm of his wandering dong and made it work. They seem to be really devoted to being a family, which is great.
She seems nice. Her body issues seem to stem from unconfidence, which is really sad. Hopefully her daughter will avoid that trap.

She is not the most talented designer out there, her dresses aren’t avant-guard, but when I look at them I think “I would totally go out dressed like that”.

I really like how they have played out their fame game, they know their position and don’t try to force feed the public with their private lives. In the early 00’s they were like the Kardashians in terms of being everywhere and such fame whores. The have really matured no scandals , cheating or falling out of clubs.

You talking about Rebecca Loos wasn’t she found to be some lying fame whore, was she ever seen as someone credible? Either way for a 15 year marriage to an athlete you don’t here anything about him cheating.
Rebecca Loos was legit. There were pictures, text messages and she was able to describe body parts if you know what I mean. That’s why she got the BIG bucks when she sold her story and the Beckhams never tried to sue her though they’ve threatened to sue everybody else.
AND Rebecca was a fame whore whilst the spotlight was on her.
VB simply chose to stay with her husband and ride out the storm of it.

You know one day kardashian will be the same when they have as much money as they want they will hire a capable pr agent. then they will have clothing line, stable family, may be adopt a few kids too and whitewash their history. All celebs are like that.

Nope. For one thing, Kanye and Kartrashian won’t be married long. For another, unlike the Beckhams, West and Kartrashian have absolutely no self-awareness or humility, nor any real sense of how they’re perceived by the world. They’ll never be anything more than delusional famewhores, no matter how much money they amass (and by all accounts it’s running out like water, at least on Kanye’s side).
That said, Victoria looks fabulous as always.
No. Only one person in the West family household as any talent. The Beckham household, both have a talent (even if she wasn’t the strongest singer). We knew of Victoria because of the Spice Girls then she went into fashion, which is probably where she would have gone regardless of the Spice Girls. Kim we know because of a sex tape.
I love her, and I love that outfit in the magazine.
She’s good but not outstanding. Actually, all designers pieces are beginning to look alike. I saw a interview of Dolce & Gabanna yesterday and liked them a lot. I enjoyed getting a sense of who they were. It made me like their style better.

As far as her proving something, I wish she would just own up and say it was to fashion critics and to people who only thought of her as nothing else but a WAG who was formally in a girl band. No shame in wanting to try new things and be successful. It is how you handle it is what will be noticed and she is doing it awesome.
Love her and I’m glad her fashion line is doing so good. But I’m not surprised though, her collections are very chic and wearable.
I like her. She seems genuine. She loves her family. It made sense to me that she went into fashion. Wasn’t she the only Spice Girl who started out as a model? Models like clothes, fashion, and style. She always was a “poser” too. Remember during the Spice Girls, she was the one always off to the side “working it?” Gotta love her. She is what she is.

I really liked her since I saw her interview from 2013 – she is such down to earth, normal woman. In the crazy world of celebs sounds like she has it figured out!
I would like to point out that often, the Kimye demographic IS the Beckham demographic, especially internationally. Before she was the designer she is now, Victoria was very similar to Kim, sans sex tape of course but with many other seemingly low class and crass tendencies. When she first started hanging around with the fash pack, the British media was scandalised. I predict a very similar career trajectory for the new Mrs West, whose prospects are similarly boosted by her A-list husband.

I really like the Beckhams and her clothing line. Simple, classic and chic even if not considered groundbreaking fashion (which is exactly what I want).

Anyway, always been a fan, like her best as Posh–she was healthier looking back in those days. And love her design, minimalist chic, her pieces will prove to be timeless. As for not wanting to prove anything to anybody, bs. She cares, it just sound “mature” to be pretend she doesn’t.

Not in photos, she’s said in interviews she thinks she has a weird smile so won’t do it.
I’ve also seen her interviewed many times. She said she hates her smile in still photos. I understand this. People tell me (not that they need to!) I look totally different in photos – I’m not at all photogenic… She’s great – self-deprecating , funny, charming and natural in interviews.
The dress is stunning and she looks beautiful.
I always thought she was this petulant, boring woman because of the way she appears in photographs. One day I saw a video on You Tube of a charity she and David sponsored. She was so cute, funny and charismatic, while David sometimes sounded very bitchy and whiny.
I love her! As far as her marriage to David that is her business as far as I am concerned. The fact that they have been through things and come out the other side only makes them stronger. She also seems like a GREAT mom.

Interesting but if yiu go back to the Jessica Simpson interview yes I know you like to ignore her and listen to her interview with Mr Forbes then look at this interview there is a lot hat Victoria took from that interview and copied with her comments.. She is trying to be more relatable and sell a different Nd more available line and Jessica is a orime example to follow and you better believe Kim watches too.
