Cele|bitchy | Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban make it official

Nicole Kidman announced her engagement to Keith Urban yesterday after bringing him as her date to a UN function on Sunday while wearing a conspicuously large ring on her left ring finger.

In New York City on Saturday, Nicole Kidman hosted the 30th Anniversary gala for the organization UNIFEM. Her date? Keith Urban, who she admitted is not just her boyfriend. “He’s actually my fiancÃƒÂ©,” Kidman exclusively told PEOPLE on Monday. “I wouldn’t be bringing my boyfriend.”

The confirmation of the engagement ends months of speculation about the couple, who were first spotted together in July 2005. In November, Kidman was photographed wearing a ring on her wedding finger while walking arm-in-arm with Urban in Boston. At the time, Urban’s rep told PEOPLE about a possible engagement, “Right now it’s just a rumor.”

People have been saying that Nicole plans to marry Keith since December, 2005, and that’s excellent that she’s finally announced the news. She was seen out in the Hamptons a month ago with what looked like a wedding ring on her left hand, so it’s possible that the two are already married – or at least consider themselves to be.

Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s wedding will be a traditional Catholic ceremony in her homeland of Australia in mid-June, according to Life & Style Weekly, followed by a weeklong honeymoon in Fiji. “Nicole’s wedding will be the polar opposite of whatever Tom Cruise is cooking up,” a “close friend” of Kidman told the mag. “She has no desire for anyÃ‚Âthing remotely fancy.” Her daughter Isabella and sister Antonia will be maids of honor and Keith’s brother Shane, will reportedly serve as best man. The bride and groom are asking that money be donated to charity in lieu of gifts. .
