Vogue has been doing this newish feature lately, where they basically give a guy a camera and tell him to ask “73 Questions” (easy-peasy questions) directly to a celebrity woman. It’s like an interesting take on the “behind the scenes” magazine features and I guess Vogue is somewhat original for the way they’re carrying it out. Sarah Jessica Parker did a memorable 73 Questions (she was the first one) and I would give SJP bonus points because she let them film inside her NYC home. Anyway, Blake is the latest subject of Vogue’s 73 Questions, probably to go along with her Vogue cover. Here you go:
Call me crazy, but I sort of like the way she comes across here. Is this how she is normally? Because she’s sexier and more interesting in action, as herself. I don’t think much of her as an actress or a model, but she’s charming as “herself”. I could totally see her hosting some kind of cooking or lifestyle show because she’s got that sort of watchable quality.
As for her answers and activities… I like that she takes off her shoes as soon as she gets in the apartment. Her dress is sexy and boob-tastic. She really cares about icing that cupcake too. She’s a dog person, she loves desserts, she cares about family and she refers to her “husband” (never his name) a few times. But some of her answers were BS. When asked which Sex & the City character she identifies with, she says “mostly… the men?” No, Blake. You are Charlotte and Carrie. You are Charlotte and Carrie SO HARD.

I found this unwatchably bad. Almost as bad as the Vogue article.

As several other commenters pointed out, the entire thing just felt so scripted-was it meant to be?-but for me the most uncomfortable thing about the whole video (and it was VERY uncomfortable to watch) was just how rushed, aggressive and bizarre the man behind the camera is. And what the hell is up with the window guy stunt??
Just so strange from start to finish. What is the point of this? Vogue should just stick to their original format (and one that US Weekly currently uses) and leave the rapid fire questions to print with funny, candid answers.
Acting was never her forte, poor soul… She can’t pretend the spontaneity of off-the-cuff responses. 😀

Whaaaaa??? I liked this interview you guys. I kinda thought it was funny. Ok. Rehearsed – yes, but do you blame her? I’d rehearse for some shit like this. I don’t want to be stuck saying, ‘Ummmmm….weeeelllll……ummmm……’ and I actually laughed at the bit at the end. ‘Are we brother and sister?’ Lol.
I watched the video yesterday and it looked really fake and overthought. It’s not like We have to believe celebrities are actually caught off guards with questions about their private lives, but at least try and make it appear authentic. Sarah Jessica Parker was super cool when she had that Vogue guy coming over her house and she looked genuinly surprised about some questions, also taking a few moments of thought before replying. With Blake, you could sense the whole thing had been thoroughly scripted. She was annoyingly calm and prepared and made sure she had several opportunities to promote her stupid website. Girl, you’re not that good as an actress.
I actually think she seemed more natural than SJP. Of course it seems rehearsed, but SJP just seemd try.hard.
Not to mention that she apparently has the ability to decorate cupcakes straight out of the oven. *side eye*

I like her. She’s just doing her thing. Never understood all the vitriol towards her.
She is a C-list actress. If you compare her to other actresses in her age group such as Anne Hathaway, Shailene Woodley, Emma Stone, Jennifer Lawrence she has achieved nothing. Not even a Golden Globe nom. When the attention and hype of an actress isn’t proportionate with her achievements people will scratching their heads at why a tarty valley girl whose biggest claim to fame is some teenybopper show on the CW is being handed Vogue covers and luxury contracts.
It’s the overreaching. She has (had?) an amazing agent who put her in discussions for the biggest roles of her age group (Gravity, The Great Gatsby, The Dark Knight Rises) and when she was cast in one of the big roles (Savages) she wasn’t good. She’s given the star treatment when she’s basically a more pleasant Jessica Biel. Even the Euros in Cannes were confused – did you catch the quote where the organizer mentioned that they had no idea that Reynold’s wife was a ‘big’ star?

I totally understand your sensitivity to the stereotype that the South gets. I have a lot of pride in where I grew up as well and it kills me when I feel like my home is being unfairly maligned. I take it personally because it’s so much a part of who I am.
She seems like a nice, pretty, harmless girl. Is it really such a bad thing to be an C-list actress who hasn’t really accomplished as much as her peers? Is towering success the only criteria for being treated as a worthwhile human being these days?
She has no talent, she’s boring and she’s constantly being shoved in the public eye by cheerleaders such as Anna Wintour, who for some unfathomable reason adores her. She’s really annoying – almost as annoying as AnnE Hathaway and Goop, but even more so because unlike them she doesn’t even have a trace of talent.
Glad some people don’t actively dislike this actress. She’s okay and I liked how she came across in this interview.

There’s nothing ‘mean girl’, or nasty about her. She doesn’t hang out with a notorious group of other bitchy Hollywood stars, she hasn’t had any terribly bad scandals ala Lohan etc, I think she’s pretty harmless and I don’t get the hate-on for her either.

Blake has always struck me as very low-drama. Yes, she can seem incredibly bland but I think she’s just a mellow Cali girl at heart.
Thank you!!! I was one of those women! I loved the clothes and the shoes but I hated how the women were portrayed so I never watched more than a couple of episodes but I have friends who were mad about SATC and didn’t get where I was coming from. I’m so glad though to know that I wasn’t alone!
Nope. I have a LOT of friends who thought it was a terrible, trashy, and anti-feminist show.
I always liked the one episode where for a moment Miranda gets annoyed and yells “all we talk about is men, there is more to life than men” then storms out of the restaurant (not the exact wording but close enough). But then again, that was the main focus of the show.
She seems perfectly unrehearsed if that makes any sense. Not a bad thing, actually a really good thing to have in a host; like I can see her sitting in for Kelly Ripa when she’s on vacay or whatever.

Ok my third comment (too many already) but I never understood the Goop comparisons. FTR, I don’t find Goop as terrible as most do around here. I find her kind of amusing and rather ridiculous, but not “insufferable”. But Blake just seems like a chill girl. I find her more genuine than the average celeb and for someone who was labeled a “fame ho” over and over again, I really think she tries to keep her personal life private for the most part, while still trying to carve out a career for herself.

I’m old school I want to see models on fashion mags – Joan Smalls, Lara Stone; hell, even cocaine Kate – and she’s a wannabee fashion girl, her “style” seems to be an image consultant’s notion, not from her personality; btw, does anyone even remember the GG.
Anyway, what passes for popular culture is so fragmented and market driven, that the term “style icon” is probably passé. Sadly, even the 80s are long gone.
