Anna Paquin was on Larry King Now a couple of weeks ago and US Weekly is just picking this story up recently. (As are we, thanks to US.) This just goes to show that no one is watching Larry King’s show, which airs on an on-demand only network called Ora.tv. (You can watch Larry’s show on Hulu.)
Anna was a little nervous but she was articulate and interesting as we’ve come to expect from her. Given how professional and smart she is I don’t think she’ll have problems finding another gig after True Blood. Unlike Anna, Larry King came off as kind of a dinosaur, though. He kept quizzing her about True Blood being a strange show and about all the sex scenes. Anna kept saying how it resonates with the audience and how she has fun filming it. When Larry was questioning Anna about her bisexuality, something she’s been open about for years, he asked a lot of dumb questions about whether she’s still bi and whether she’s faithful to her husband. To her credit, Anna remained very matter-of-fact when explaining to Larry that no, she doesn’t screw around just because she’s bisexual. The whole interview made me want to face palm.

I don’t think it’s a past tense thing. Are you still straight if you’re with somebody? It doesn’t mean you’re not… it doesn’t prevent your sexuality from existing. It doesn’t really work like that.Are you surprised at how quickly public perception of same sex has changed?
I think it’s fantastic… the more people who are outspoken and advocate for same sex unions and LGBT rights… that does make a difference. The level of ignorance and hatred just becomes less acceptable.

At around 16:00 into the interview, Anna talked about how she was directed by Philip Seymour Hoffman in an off Broadway play in 2001, and how he really taught her how to act. She said he was tough but that she responded to that and learned a lot. She got a little choked up about him but held it together. As for her future career, Anna and her husband, co-star Stephen Moyer, are going to work on developing other projects with HBO but she said they’re going to take a break for a bit first.
In terms of the headline, this is why so many people don’t come out as bisexual, because of antiquated ideas that sexuality is a choice and that bisexual people are incapable of monogamous relationships. Anna has impressed me with her willingness to both come out as bisexual and continue to educate people about it. Ignorant people think that we are oversexed switch-hitters who sleep with whomever is around. The truth is that sexual orientation is on a continuum and some people fall in the middle. That’s no more a choice than being straight or gay, and bisexual people are just as capable of fidelity as everyone else.

I want to get off my high horse and talk about True Blood for a moment. There were some slow scenes, although I liked all the sex and romance this week, and the fact that we got to see Ryan Kwanten shirtless for the umpteenth time. I want Arlene to find true love, and I want Bill to get cured of his fast-acting Hep-V. Do you think that they’re going to kill off Bill before the cure can be harvested from Sarah Newlin? I do, and I think that’s why they’re giving us so much of his back story. It makes me pretty sad, because the romance between real-life couple Sookie (Anna Paquin) and Bill (Stephen Moyer) is sweet to watch. I want a happy ending for them. A fan tweeted a question for Anna about whether there would be a True Blood movie and she said “I’m not sure where really it would go from where we wrap it up.” Oh noes!

Well, in all fairness, Larry King is an old man and while being a pretty solid interviewer in his day, would obviously have “antiquated” ideas on sexuality.
Personally, I have never thought bisexuals were oversexed switch hitters who slept around nor have I ever heard anyone else make a big deal about bisexuality in that way either. I also never knew that bisexuals felt so misunderstood. I guess I just tend to hang out with a crowd that doesn’t put a lot of thought into people’s sexual identities in that way.
As far as True Blood, only three more yawn worthy episodes left. So happy they knew it was time for this show to end. Each episode is more cringe worthy than the next. While this show has always been very sexual, the sex this season has been non-stop, as if the writers had nothing else to say so let’s just put tons of sex scenes in each episode and hope that entertains the viewers enough they forget about how awful the storyline and writing is.

You should talk to my husband, then. He, unfortunately, does seem to think that I am frequently plotting to leave him for a woman even though I have been with him 10 years. Obviously that’s a whole can of worms in and of itself that I won’t get in to…my point is simply that yes, there are people who think this way and no, not every guy is thrilled to be married to a woman who finds other ladies beautiful, also.
I watch the interview a few days ago- King came off like a creepy old perv, he was so fixated on the sex scenes for the show. And good for Anna for stepping up to educate and be an example.
I think Bill is going to die too- they are spending so much time on stupid flashbacks about him and his wife, I think in the end he dies to be with her again and let Sookie start over.

Larry was confused why he was booted from CNN it was because he never seemed prepared… like he just stepped on set and was completely out of it unless you were a person he knew of pre-1990.
Yes I remember when Larry King did an interview with Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson, I think it was for the movie Nine or whatever movie they were in together, and he had no clue about either of their personal lives. That would be fine if he was only focused on their work but he was asking personal questions so he should have at least educated himself on a few things like how many children they each have and their ages, etc.
I saw an interview he did with Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr and King called Ringo “George” (as in Harrison, their dead bandmate). Paul got really pissy about it and Ringo had to tell him to chill.

I’ve liked this season as well and have enjoyed getting flashbacks into Bills’ human life. I totally think he’s a goner too and I’m hoping for some sappy Ghost-esque ending where he reunites with his family once he meets the True Death and Sookeh is crying, sad but happy that he is reunited with the ones that he always missed. And I hope Newme gets drained so they can synthesize her blood…after she heals Eric of course

I get asked all the time if I’m still bisexual because I’ve been married for almost twenty years. People think being bisexual automatically means promiscuous, or sex-crazed, as if it’s a disease that affects your crotch.
I am asking because I am actually curious, who are these people who think that bisexuals are promiscuous and sex crazed? I am being serious when I say, I have never been around anyone who has thought that. Reading here, it seems like that is a prevalent mindset in society and honestly, I have never known that to be the case.

So many people believe this. As soon as they learn you’re bisexual, out come the stupid questions about monogamy, promiscuity, and which sex we prefer more. Sexual orientation has no bearing on one’s ability or desire to be monogamous, as the high adultery rate in America proves, but for whatever reason, bisexuality is the wormhole of reason and logic when it comes to understanding that.
Yep, I’ve encountered it as well. Numerous times. Although mostly they think it’s a “phase”. And when you date someone of the opposite gender they almost always feel vindicated. “Ah, okay. Are we done with the bisexuality now?” It’s annoying as HELL and it drives me crazy that a lot of people don’t take it seriously. Like you’re making it up.

I am sorry you have to deal with such nonsense. Bisexuality seems pretty clear to me and in that clarity nowhere does the impression exist that monogamy is nonexistent or that promiscuity is what bisexuality is about. People are Soooo mindless when it comes to sexuality and it is sad in this day and age.

So if a bisexual (like myself) chooses to have concurrent sexual and emotional relationships with more than one person, we’re promiscuous? I am consistently disappointed in bisexuals who push this monogamy agenda. So many of us are safe, happy, and satisfied in non-monogamous arrangements that include polyamory/poly fidelity. I’m so sick of this being an either/or issue.
Being promiscuous is not synonymous with any sexual orientation. It also shouldn’t have a negative connotation outside of a monogamous relationship structure. The issue isn’t whether being with more than one partner at a time is bad. The issue is automatically believing that being bisexual means you are incapable of being monogamous, and that you can just turn it off like a light switch.

Lol. Because being bisexual doesn’t mean you’re off having sex with everyone all the time. It means you’re just kind of ambivalent when it comes to the gender of your partner. If you’re a monogamous person then once you find a long term partner (regardless of their gender) then you’re hopefully not going to be going around having sex with other people (regardless of their gender.)
For example, I’m a bisexual woman, in a long term monogamous relationship with a dude. This does not mean that I no longer find other women (or other men) attractive, or that the previous relationships I’ve had with other women/men didn’t mean anything. Simply that I love the person that I’m with now and have no desire to lose that relationship over simply being sexually attracted to other people.
It’s the same for straight couples, just because you’re in a relationship doesn’t mean you stop finding other people attractive, it just means that (if you’re monogamous) you DON’T ACT ON IT.

Oh no, are you one of those people who think because Anna/Stephen are a couple, Bill/Sookie should be? Even though he abused her, manipulated her, lied to her a million times, has almost killed her at least twice, makes her feel guilty, and is generally a horrible person? I wanted to vomit watching their sex scene last night. Their sex scenes are always the worst.
This confusing the real life couple, (who(m?) I adore, with their characters is annoying. Sadly, the writers seem to have done it as well. I think at last week’s Comic Con panel Buckner said ‘they got married for us”

Oh, let them have this. What else do they have? Critics are already tearing them apart with how predictable and stale they are, so let them go down with the ship. They are so annoying that I would not wish them on anyone else. Although it is kind of sad/embarrassing that people can’t tell the difference between Bill and Sookie and Stephen and Anna.
But I do like them in real life, and always got the impression from their interviews that they didn’t think their real life relationship should influence the show. But sadly for them, they are now indeed the ‘face’ of the show. And now, that’s not a good thing.
I’ve not been crazy about his backstory taking up so much time. I guess I was spoiled by the last season of Breaking Bad, which had zero fluff and moved like a freight train to the end. I just can’t stand all these extra back and side stories acting as filler.. I think it’s lazy writing.
I’m just over her in general. I dislike her interpretation of Sookie, and I’ve grown to really dislike all the Beehl worship.
I agree with another post on here about the sex scenes on TB, they seem to have run out of things to do and put sex in. I’m also over this Adilyn storyline and Violet too. I thought this was when we started closing storylines and not opening new ones.
Each season has grown progressively worse. I saw real potential with the Bill-ith story but they just bloated that down with stuff and then gave it no real arc.
I hope Anna takes time off, she is annoying to watch. I don’t care if she is bi-sexual or not. So much emphasis is placed on sexuality, its just annoying. And I have to wonder if she doesn’t keep putting it out there so that she stays relevant…….
I think she and Moyer will have plenty of time off in the future, but not because they necessarily want it. I thought she had tons potential from the Piano, but she skated on that Oscar and never developed her acting pass “petulant teenager” and gives awful, limited performances inside and outside of TB, so she can’t be the perpetual victim of bad writing. Added to the fact that she basically got the boot from the X-men franchise (lame, weak Rogue), I can’t see any studio, producer or the like being bothered with her when you have talents like Mia, Margot, Jennifer L., Jessica C., Charlize and others available.
She was supposed to be the lead in “Top of the Lake” before Elizabeth Moss got the role. Just think about that for a minute.
Moyer, well, if “Passions” was still on the air, he would fit right end there with his level of acting. It is no mystery as to why they are the leads on a hit show but have the least prospects of the cast, many of which have already landed new gigs (so happy Deborah Ann Woll landed the female lead in Daredevil).

One of the craziest parts about being bisexual is that a lot of people don’t understand. Some gay and some straight people don’t want to date you because your sexuality makes them insecure. And straight men almost always assume that being bisexual means you are down for a threesome. They automatically go there (at least in my experience). I’ve had to educate people including my husband when we first met. Anna’s answers were fantastic and I always admire how open she is. And you are correct, considering she’s an Oscar winner I don’t think she’ll have any issues finding another job.
I don’t care that’s she’s bisexual or trisexual. A person’s sexuality is their business.
THANK YOU ANNA. People are so shocked when I tell them I’m bisexual. They are like… but you’re not that active sexually, are you? No I’m not, but that has nothing to do with it. I happen to be sexually attracted to both genders, and that’s literally all there is to it. I have a boyfriend and before him I didn’t sleep with much people.
I can make a case for Larry – he’s old, and old people aren’t too fond of change most of the time. He was born in a completely different era when this was all wrong and sinful. I don’t care when I see people over 60 acting like that. What drives me insane is to see people my age making those claims.

It just comes up when we’re talking about sex in general. I talk about my experiences with women and people are like, OMG YOU’RE A LESBIAN?! And I’m like, no, I’m bi (I’m very open about it). And then people put a weird face. They expect bi people to be much more sexual about everything they do. To dress more provocatively and be flirty with anything with remotely human DNA, something I’m very far from. So they are shocked when I drop the bomb.

I came out as a bisexual to a lesbian once. She told me that while she didn’t think too highly of straight people, she “despised” bisexuals because we hadn’t “made a political choice”. To this day, it was the strangest response I’ve ever received. She saw gay versus straight with a very “us versus them” mentality and therefore assumed bi’s were an untrustworthy political ally because we were sleeping with the enemy. This was back in the early 90’s. Hopefully, she’s revised her thinking since then. We don’t only get misunderstood by straight people, we can also be misunderstood by the gay community, too.
He’s something else. Remember when his response to Columbine was about how you’d expect it to happen in Harlem? This man went to journalism school in Transalpine Gaul. He’s definitely of a different time and that is a time I don’t care to revisit.
I love Anna, and I think she usually gives intelligent, candid interviews. I think she’s really done a great thing by making her bisexuality public and helping to de-fetishize it, if you know what I mean.
I have a feeling that maybe Bills HEP V is sped up from reacting to Sookies fairy blood. I also think that maybe all the flashbacks of him as a human is showing us the person he will be because w her fairy blood his disease is progressing so fast that he will “die” but get turned into a human!!
