Recent exes Justin Timberlake and Cameron Diaz reportedly did not make eye contact when they both arrived minutes apart at the premiere of their new animated movie, Shrek The Third in L.A. They were just a few feet away while talking to press on the red carpet but refused to look at each other.

A little later during the cast photo they were seen smiling for the camera and giving each other a hello hug and kiss, though. Justin has defended Cameron to the press, saying in an interview with GQ magazine, “It’s hard for me to talk about because we’re talking about a person that I love and respect… If I hear anyone say anything bad about Cameron then I’ll have something to say to them.”

Given his public stance post-breakup, it’s not surprising that these two were friendly to each other. While Cameron has been linked to a number of hot guys since things ended with Justin, she doesn’t seem to have settled down yet. Justin’s relationship with buff Jessica Biel is said to be getting serious, and reports have them happy together with Justin watching Biel’s puppy while she was away.

Stars of the new film were questioned about Paris Hilton’s high-profile jail sentence, with most everyone demurring except for Larry King and Cheri Oteri, the voice of Sleeping Beauty in the film:

Many reporters attempted, and failed, to get reactions to Friday’s sentencing of celebutante Paris Hilton to 45 days in jail for violating her probation on an alcohol-related reckless-driving charge.

“I think it’s sad,” CNN interviewer Larry King told AP Television. “But there’s no excuse for drunk driving. None. You can’t give me one good reason to drunk drive. Inexcusable,” King continued.

“Saturday Night Live” alum Cheri Oteri, the voice of Sleeping Beauty in “Shrek,” managed to tie some of the film’s fairy tale themes to Hilton and her troubles. “You can be a princess in the positive sense of the word,” she said. “Just don’t keep going out to clubs all night. Stay home once in a while. Learn to cook. Read some books. Take a class.”

There’s concern over Shrek competing with the third installment of Spider Man, which kicked ass at the box office this weekend, bringing in $148 million in the US and $375 million worldwide. The third Pirates movie is also coming out soon, on May 25th.

A producer dismissed concerns that so many blockbusters out at once would hurt Shrek’s revenue, saying “It means people are dying to get to the movies.”

At Sunday’s Shrek premiere Cameron Diaz sported a lighter hair color that seemed more suited to her coloring. She looked cute in an pink empire waist dress with a pleated front. The pockets on her dress were a little goofy, though, especially when she stuck her hands in them.

Timberlake looked decidely dorky and ready for the golf course in a blue cardigan with just the top button closed, a tan wide-collared shirt and a plaid tie with tan khakis.
