Since you’re mentioning Ferguson, this:

I’m so horrified, wasn’t that guy suspended or something?
Yes, read further down, the way they wrote about that was kind of funny.
Ahaha Officer Go F-ck Yourself 😂
Other officers had to step in and take the riffel (?) away! The Ferguson PD are egomaniacs with serious God-complexes.
“Protect and serve” has obviously changed to “shut up or die” now.
Isn’t there a conflict of interest by having Julianne Hough as a judge on DWTS when her brother is one of the dancers?
This reminds me of my English teacher getting to teach her own daughter. How do we really know she wasn’t getting special treatment or allowed to drill her mom about test questions. How could a mother grade her daughter’s tests without bias? I guess it’s possible but it is kind of unfair.
is it actually legal/no-conflict for a parents to teach to their own son/daughter? like, theres a lot of this going on on tv shows and always assumed it was just a lazy attempt to have everyone in the same scene, but there should be conflict. i remember when my math teacher didnt teach to the class the year after mine cause her daughter was in that class, and always thought it was because of that conflict
Yes, it’s legal. In small towns, it has to be – there might be only one teacher for each grade and the teachers might be the parents of a sizable percentage of the town’s children! My town was a bit bigger so only one kid I knew had his mom as a teacher. She was much tougher on him than the other kids and we felt sorry for him.
That being said, it’s not preferred, and any sensible school will arrange it so that the child has a different teacher if it’s an option.
That may be the case in smaller towns. I grew up in a bigger city with many high schools. We had at least 2 or 3 English teachers at my high school that taught the same grade…so not sure why that teacher was allowed to teach her own daughter.
Yeah, that’s just strange in a school where there are options. I don’t know of any formal rules against it, but you’d think everyone involved would find it undesirable.
What kid wants her mom around all day? What mom wants her kid potentially embarrassing her at work? What school thinks that’s the ideal set up?
I always thought that the only way a teacher could teach her own kid is that if there wasn’t another teacher teaching the subject as well. For example, when I was in third grade, my teacher got married to one of my classmate’s dad, so my classmate had to be transferred out of that third grade class to another third grade. In high school, there was only one debate teacher, so my class also had the debate teacher’s son in it. There are usually more than one English teacher per grade, so I don’t see why your English teacher was able to teach her own daughter unless it was a specialized English class, ie. AP or honors, that only one teacher taught.
Nope it was a mandatory English credit class. There was more than one English teacher so I don’t know why they allowed her to teach her own daughter.
Ok, totally cool. Nicely played, Anna.

There have been several “Not the face! Not the hair!” ice bucket videos. Someone pours a glass of water down their back (Oprah, Gwen Stefani) and they still look glam. It was fun hearing Anna squeal.
But it’s supposed to be an ice bucket. I guess it doesn’t matter as long as they donate money. I heard one of the guys who helped create the ice bucket challenge died in a diving accident earlier this week. Anyone know if this is true?
Link issues, but yea. Croey Griffin dead at 26/27. Reports vary enough that i’m thinking it’s a possible internet hoax. How awful if it is true though.
Other reports say it was a large group of folks who created it and other reports say it was a smaller group of a few guys.
@ FLORC
The story is on the USA Today website with detail. I’m guessing it’s true. That is so sad.
I live in Massachusetts…This was definitely not a hoax. It’s a terrible, terrible tragedy. He had raised more than $100,000 for ALS research, and he was supposed to host another fundraiser the day he died.
Here in Norway there was a similar campaign going on in the beginning of the year. People would jump into (near-freezing) lakes and donate money to cancer research. I don’t know if this was an inspiraton for the Ice bucket challenge or not. We even had a couple of deaths relating to it! The Ice bucket is probably a better, safer alternative.
oprah’s forgiven she’s a black women our hair is different. She could destroy it for life with water, applied wrongly (no shampoo, when relaxed/ permed whatever americans call it etc.)
For someone who supposedly dictates what’s stylish and fashionable she obviously has no style herself. Weird.
Very few style dictators have style that appeals to the masses. They are very good at picking trends and mass market appeal though. Look at Uncle Karl, Andre TL, Carine Riotfeld, the editors of Japan and Italian Vogues, heck the designer of Celine, Grace Coddington, Diana VF to name a few. Yet the stuff they dictate to the masses is amazing.

They’re hit and miss for my personal tastes. Although, if people say my casual style or just around the property attire I can see people saying I have no style.
I actually think she has a look that works and sticks with it regardless of trend. Now that I’m past middle age, I look back in horror at hairstyles I succumbed to that did’nt suit atall…don’t get me started on the boy george clothing styles of the 80’s….
Let’s not go further, how about Kelly Cutrone?
@Homegrrrl to me her “style” doesn’t work. She already looks severe and mean and that Moe of the Three Stooges hair makes her look only more so.
Agree. She has also gone from choosing not to smile to looking as if she could not smile if she wanted to. Even being pals with smug and cheesy roger federer is enough to put me off her ( and yes I know I am in a minority, he’s so humble etc etc…)
She doesnt have to be fashionable, you still follow what she thinks every time you go shopping, even if you dont know it.
I’ve only made it through the headline of the Gawker story and started bawling my eyes out. I lost my precious dog, who was with me since I was a kid, almost exactly a year ago and I still miss him every day. I feel like I lost my sibling. I can’t imagine what this man, for whom his dogs are the only family, must feel like right now.
I couldn’t read it either. I’ve lost many people in my life, and losing a pet presents the same level of grief. I hate it when people say things like “it’s just an animal” because sometimes the one thing I that gets me through the day is knowing that I get to have unconditional love from my beautiful kitty (that I rescued from two coke head rednecks).
So sorry for you loss!
I do not think that losing an animal however beloved is comparable to losing a family member. If you get a cat or dog you know it’s likely to live a max of 15 years and should factor that in. I have lost beloved dogs, some quite young, but I have also lost my mother and father and ex husband and I know which is worse. If you want something that may outlive you get a tortoise or a parrot.
Ya, the headline was enough. I can’t handle anymore traumatic news. Not this week. Between Robin Williams, Micheal Brown in Ferguson, ISIS, and this man and his dog, I think I’ve reached my limit. I don’t remember who suggested the drink earlier but I’m going to have a few. It’s been a couple of years, I need a drink.
Not excusing what the ASPCA and NYPD did. Not at all.
This is sad, but I can understand how it happened. Reports get called in for a dog that has an open wound on it’s back. That’s good! Concerned citizens looking out for the welfare of possible abused/neglected animals.
Spot possibly didn’t have a chip or tags from what I read. There was no way to know Spot was being treated by a vet. And there could have been new issues.
That doesn’t excuse what they did. They should have waited. Had a back and forth with the cops that responded to the neglect calls initially. Tried to locate the owner. They do it all the time when the person should be arrested and this sounds like it could have gone that way.
Then the whole ignoring the man who wants to know why his dog was put down is shameful.
HS and ASPCA put down more adoptable pets than they should. That’s a seperate rant though.
This is unfortunate for this man. I hope he gets help to pursue this. And I hope he goes for a policy change and not money.
Just an example of how there’s a lack of communication.
Kaiser, my pup has the same type of cancer as the dog in that story. In 90% of the dogs who develop mast cell tumors, if the tumor is caught early and removed, that’s the end of it. But in 10% of dogs who develop mast cell tumors, they will continue to develop tumors throughout their lifetime. Of course Winston is in the 10%. Fortunately, I currently have the resources to provide him with the care he needs. It’s very sad that this man raised the money to get the surgery his dog needed, but didn’t get the opportunity to follow through. I think this story is an example of a larger problem of law enforcement being responsible for animal welfare matters, but not having the proper training to do so. In this case, ASPCA was involved, and you have to wonder where the breakdown in communication occurred.
I will always and forever defend the canny pack.
They are awesome and practical.
I love my fanny pack. It’s slimmer and not the early 90’s style like many though.
Loads of runners and cyclist have them. They’re practical!
Please Help!!
Anyone have a guess about Lainey’s blind today about the couple doing Oxy? I was thinking Kim K or Beyonce b/c of the, “there will always be a mirror to hold her up” (selfies?) but the guy doesnt fit “somehow he manages to make the bare minimum at work”.
Leanne and Eddie? HELP!!
Maybe M-K Olsen and Olivier Sarkozy?
OH, Cilla i think youre right! Mirror, being her twin. clever 🙂
Oh, yeah, I had been thinking Charlize Theron with mirror referring to her Snow White role, but Mary-Kate fits much better. The “boss” clue also fits with her old show, and the item is right that she doesn’t actually have that many mandatory responsibilities.
Thats a good one. Thanks!
Hmm… Since it’s in the fantasy world of BI’s It could be anyone.
I can think of a couple that sounds like that.
Golden Rule with BI’s. If it’s real it’s been reavealed in the gossip world for a few days at this point.
Just like Klum in the link. It’s old news.
I say it because you seem in a panic to know.
So it’s her own hair rather than a wig?!
I’m not the only 1 thinking that was a wig.
Not alone. I’ve always thought it was a wig.
Good for the Ice Queen!
