Anna Paquin has been turning in solid work ever since her Oscar-winning performance as a child in The Piano. She’s worked steadily, most notably as Rogue in the X-Men movies and a small but interesting part in the often overlooked Spike Lee film The 25th Hour. It was no surprise to me that Paquin would end up doing a television show. There’s no shame in it, after all. Lots of Oscar-winners are finding juicy work in television, like Marcia Gay Harden and William Hurt on FX’s “Damages”, or Paquin’s Piano co-star Holly Hunter on TNT’s “Saving Grace”.
Paquin’s turn to television is HBO’s “True Blood”. It’s a strange but effective time for a television show about vampires, considering the craze for all things blood-sucker in books and movies. I haven’t seen the show, but I’ve seen a couple of interviews with the show’s British star (and head vampire) Stephen Moyer. What is it with Brits playing vampires these days?
Anyway, Moyer is really cute. He looks like the kind of guy I would have gone for in college (slender, good jawline, intense eyes), but he’s 37 years old! I would have pegged him at mid-twenties. Good bones, I guess. It looks like he’s Anna Paquin’s type too – the two are now dating, as Moyer confirmed to TV Guide magazine.
For any True Blood fan, the relationship between the show’s lead characters, Sookie Stackhouse (Anna Paquin) and Bill Compton (Stephen Moyer) is about as hot as it gets–even by HBO standards!
Now, it looks like the actors have taken that chemistry from the scripted page to real life!
“We are together,” Moyer confirmed to TV Guide Magazine. “It’s just exciting and that was there from day one. “We always take the piss out of each other and are silly with each other and it is great. We’re very, very happy. She’s the best.”
On the show, the tall dark and British Moyer, 37, plays a century-year-old vampire who has come back to live in a small Lousiana town and falls in love with the mortal and virginal Sookie (Paquin), a small town waitress with an ability to read people’s minds.
In real-life, Moyer and Paquin, 26, are living together here in the states, however Moyer splits his time between L.A. and London, where he has two young children from a previous relationship.
The couple’s real-life romance first sparked at the True Blood audition, but the pair decided to wait to go public. “The reason it was dodged last year was very intentional on both our parts,” Moyer says. “It was very important to me that the cast and crew we were working with didn’t feel it was fickle, and didn’t feel it could possibly potentially encroach on our lives, you know, just like, ‘Oh the two stars are having a thing.’ We didn’t want to take anything away from the show. The show is the star, not the two people having a relationship.”
From OK! Magazine
He’s sounds like a nice guy, but maybe a little… famewhoring? This is one of those rare times where the guy is gushing to the press about his relationship, and it makes me a little uncomfortable. But it seems like they make each other happy, so God bless. I wonder if he bites her in bed.

cute is not the word I’d use for Moyer. He’s not cute at all. He’s just ok. He has shifty eyes, and a really pointy face. If you think cartoon characters are cute, then I guess he is . . . but I don’t.
He definitely looks 37. No mid 20’s in sight here.
He’s only confirming the rumors I’ve heard all over the messageboards. I mean, is it that bad to just confirm the relationship? These two have kept quiet about it until now and the show premiered last fall. I watch True Blood and enjoy the show and I’ve tried reading some of the books the show was based of but I didn’t like them as much.
I also think Moyer is cute but he definitely looks like he’s in his 30s.
Good grief, this is such OLD news.
I HATE her hair blond. It looks awful!
I don’t have HBO but I would love to watch this show. I noticed the chemistry at Comic Con a year or so ago and i was like, “they’re totally into each other”. I love Anna, but not feeling this blond look. It washes her out. Perhaps a darker blond.
Agree with Kimberly and Ash- these pics do NOT make him look mid-twenties. He looks his age and more. I guess the scruffy facial hair doesn’t help. I do think he’s kind of handsome in a rugged way though.
She has dyed her hair blonde for the character. If you’ve read the books, you know Sookie Stackhouse is blonde. I prefer her as a brunette myself.
I’m a True Blood fan, but I agree with kimberly, I’ve never found him attractive. Most of the other TB fans do, though for some reason! Guess that’s a good thing for the show. Good actor, not a hottie IMO. I also agree with Autumm Leaves about Anna’s blonde hair, it does wash her out. I think Sookie’s supposed to be blonde or something. Cool that they’re dating, why not?
YYEEESSSSS!!!!! I had no idea… Love them together!
I looove true blood. Never understood the appeal of Twilight. I can overlook the fact that it lacks plot, likeable characters and decent writing, but NO SEX?? What is the point of having a hot vampire boyfriend if you not gonna let him do bad and nasty things to you?
When I finished Twilight I was so frustrated! Now I HAVE to read all the other books to get the satisfaction I crave when they finally get it on in the last book. It BETTER be good.
Anyway, at least True Blood gets it right. Sex and blood and biting, totally hot.
And I highly doubt he is famewhoring. If he was, he would be dating Paris Hilton. Or Miley Cyrus.
The show is good but as always the books are better! Sookie is blond in the books and one of the reasons they went with AP is because she agreed to go totally blond! I also agree that SM is not cute! But to be fair he is not described as all that cute in the books. Eric in the show is supposed to be smoking hot but he is not cute on the show either. Sad but I still like the show.
So he is Eric? I’ve only just finished the 1st Sookie book & I freaking loved it!!
I think he is really cute! And I thought this was massively old news…
I just love the show True Blood and I love these two together. They have great chemistry on and off screen! Stephen Moyer is sooooo good looking and he portrays Vampire Bill Compton perfectly in the show. I have also read all of the books and love those as well!!! I’m just happy that they finally confirmed the relationship!!! Can’t wait for True Blood Season 2 this summer!!!
Wow, I thought he was older than that, due to his looks. Shows what I know. lol
He definitely looks 37. He looks older than me.
Sigh. Anna has transformed herself into a typical indistinguishable starletard. Hey Anna, how many fingers am I holding up? Do you know where you are?
Bodhi – no, he’s Bill Compton. Eric is the intense blonde guy at Fangtasia. Google True Blood and you will get to see all the episodes online.
I love the show, I love the books. I just wish they were longer. I absolutely HATE that the next season of True Blood wont be out until summer. Of course, I know the plot line since I’ve read all the released books but I still cant wait!!! (/fangirl squeals over)
Um..famewhoring? I think he’s just happy and trying to make sure people know, but also that it shouldn’t affect the experience of the show.
I’m a huge fan of the show. Alan Ball did it after the novels, and I love him. He wrote American Beauty and created Six Feet Under. I hope they don’t break up though; their chemistry is amazing in the show.
I’m a huge fan of the show and I just got the Sookie Stackhouse collection to tide me over till TruBlood returns in the Summer. The news that Anna and Stephen are dating makes me smile. Love, love their chemistry on the show.
POSSIBLE SPOILER ALERT!
Wonder if they’ll take the storyline in the same direction as the books re Eric and Sookie?
Stephen Moyer is one the the sexiest man alive with those intense blue eyes that can pierce into your soul. Bill and Sookie make the show and yes I read all the books and hated Eric. Who likes a guy who makes makes on another guy’s girl. Stephen Moyer is an extremely charming and nice person and and can make any woman melt in his presence.
