The tabloids have moved on from declaring the demise of Tom and Katie’s relationship to speculating on the sanctity of the Brangelina union. Two weeks ago Tom and Katie were splitting up, according to the supermarket gossip glossies, with Katie scheming to get away from Tom, and flirting with a male co-star on the set of her new movie, Mad Money. Tom supposedly re-arranged a cast dinner, insisting on coming along with his mom and then bailing at the last minute. He was also said to have delayed filming on several occasions and to be generally wrecking havok on set.

Since that news broke Katie and Tom have shown that they know how to handle a PR crisis by ordering food for all the crew on the Louisiana set where she’s filming. Three Fridays in a row they’ve surprised them with treats. First ice cream, then pizza, and now cupcakes.

Tom and Katie have been gracious with Shreveport, LA locals when making coffee outings, and now that they’re keeping the crew on Katie’s film happy they’re suddenly doing well, too:

Since she arrived in the sunny southern city Shreveport, LA in April to shoot the comedy Mad Money, Katie Holmes, 28, has been beaming and looking happier than ever – and she’s sharing the love with everyone she meets! “Katie is warm and talkative,” a source tells Star. “She’s fallen in love with the city and people, and Shreveport has fallen in love with her!”

No one is happier about the change in the starlet – who put her thriving career on hold to nuture her 13-month-old daughter, Suri – than her hubby of nearly six months, Tom Cruise, 44, who is a familiar figure on set. “He adds a level of excitement to Katie’s day. They often joke around together to get through the long hours of shooting,” says another source close to the pair. “He told Katie a long time ago that he would support her in her comeback, and he has not let her down!”

With her career back on track, Katie has turned her attention to pleasing others. She did just that by surprising Mad Money’s crew members with 300 ice cream cones from Cold Stone Creamery on April 30 and throwing a huge pizza party on May 4. “She made a lot of friends that day,” says a source. “Especially when she picked up the $1,300 pizza tab.”

And Sky Showbiz reports that this Friday, Katie treated all the crew to cupcakes.

All their friends can attest to how well they’re doing, but that’s not really convincing until they win people over. It looks like the way to the tabloid’s good graces is through the stomachs of the people who have to work with them.
