I wanted to write about Suki Waterhouse because she changed her hair color this weekend. She went from a dusty blonde to a deep brown. Her hairstylist spoke to the Mail about the double process that took her to “French brown.” That’s what the shade is called. The double process avoided a green-haired Suki. Have you heard of that problem? Sometimes if you cover blonde with brown (especially an ash tone), hair can turn green. (It happened to me in high school. The horror.) These are photos of Suki with Cara Delevigne outside of Jessie J’s concert.
Outside of Suki’s active nightlife, she’s still Bradley Cooper’s best girl and potential baby mama. I feel bad even writing “baby mama,” but that’s the vibe BCoop was putting out in his latest interview. Suki is focused on her career. She’s a budding actress and is promoting her role as “the other girl” in Love, Rosie.” Suki talked to the Guardian about the perks of dating BCoop. He’s taken her to the Oscars, Met Gala, and White House State Dinner:
Her favorite Oscars moment: “The pizza and [host] Ellen DeGeneres. I was cracking up the whole time; my cheeks actually hurt. I didn’t expect the Oscars to be that fun.”
The transition from model to actress: “I am still making the move, but I think it’s kind of natural. The way I see it, actors are taking all the modelling jobs; they are on all the magazines covers, get the best contracts and walk in the shows. I’ve acted my whole life pretty much, but then just got more into modelling. I was scared of picking it up again, because it’s such a difficult, soul-baring thing to do compared with modelling, where you just close yourself off. But it’s made me really happy. Being on set reminds me of being at summer camp.”
Have you had an ‘Oh my God, I’ve made it’ moment?
No, and I think it’s a misconception that anyone ever feels like that. Even when I’m doing well, I still have moments when I think, ‘Ugh.’ When I feel like that, I do the thing I heard Albert Einstein did: say thank you 100 times.Her most glamorous moment: “The Met Ball was more glamorous than the Oscars. It’s quite scary, because it’s a last-minute thing, and everyone’s dresses get made for them, so you get what you’re given. But it turned out to be my favourite dress ever. It was by Burberry. I didn’t get to keep it, but it was so large, it took up half the hotel room. When I called the bellboy to take it downstairs, he refused.”
Her least glamorous moment: “Whenever I am left to my own devices with cleaning and washing. When I was filming in Atlanta this summer, my apartment was disgusting. I learned to use the washing machine, but I don’t see the point in using detergent. I stored things in my dishwasher.”
Her White House visit: “I didn’t expect to see Obama bopping to Mary J Blige. He can really dance. I got a tour of the Oval Office, which was pretty cool, especially because I love the TV show Scandal.”
Her iTunes collection: “I have a lot of Britney. We actually wanted to see her in Las Vegas, but she wasn’t playing, so we ended up seeing Celine Dion, which was a bit of a disappointment.”
Her biggest fashion faux-pas: “I am constantly faux pas-ing. I messed up at fashion week last year. I had five minutes to come home to change, and my mum was screaming at me that the taxi was waiting outside, so I just threw on the most hideous thing. I looked like I was wearing a jacket made of p-bes — and there was photographic evidence. My problem is that what I like changes from week to week. Even the stuff in my suitcase right now I don’t like any more.”
What makes her angry: “Preconceived judgments. I think we’re all guilty of it. I judge other people even though I get judged myself. It’s such a disease and gets spread so much through social media.”
What makes her laugh: “People falling off treadmills. I YouTube that all the time.”

Suki seems disgruntled at how actors have replaced models on the covers of major fashion magazines. She can blame the disappearing supermodel. In the 1990s, models could move newsstand copy and shill for brands. Most models don’t hold that power nowadays, so mags rely on actresses to do so. Suki’s doing alright for herself without major covers. She’s the new face of Burberry. Plus, there’s the whole acting thing. Suki is 22 and a bit immature, but she’ll be fine.

I don’t know. I think Gisele comes close, and although Heidi Klum isn’t a runway model, she’s got the name recognition and big contracts and money.
I don’t know. I would definitely consider Naomi Campbell, the last working “supermodel.” I don’t consider Gisele a “supermodel.”
Gisele also Daria Werbowy or even Cara delevingne (even if she is not well liked) are the closest thing to 90’s supermodels: they have their pick of work from high street to high end fashion and they are the ones who choose so they can be picky if they want to and in the case of Gisele or daria they don’t even bother to walk the catwalk since between the two of them they share 50% of all high end campaigns for almost a decade now.
Heidi Klum isn’t even considered a model outside the US and germany, she is known for being in celebrity news not really what a supermodel is supposed to be…

Gisele is the one who has the highest cachet, but she’s not a supermodel.
Between ’80s and ’90s supermodels were like rockstars, Gisele is not like that.
And I think they were more beautiful than the models we have now. Check the George Micheal “Freedom” or “Too Funky” videos.
I would definitely say Gisele is a supermodel, because she is a brand to herself.
The “Supermodel” era ended because designers didn’t want the models over shadowing their work. They have been preferring blank clothing hangers in recent years.
I’m actually happy to see the end of supermodels. That was an unhealthy aesthetic, while acting is more complex and intellectual. Ok so there I go dumbing down the modeling industry, but isn’t it time we saw an era come to close? And I prefer to see fashion on -slightly- more realistic bodies. The whole coat hanger model thing is cultural propaganda, and I for one, cannot determine styling when displayed on an anorexic heroin addict type of human. I realize hollywood actresses are usually nervously thin for the most part, but at least they aren’t all vacant looking and cookie cutter tall and emaciated. My goal is to end the fashion system with it’s epidemic of eating disorders, objectification and slave produced garments; this industry will hopefully see it’s place in the history of a dark time.

Exactly, the no detergent thing is so gross. How hard is it to add detergent? When she said that I was wondering what on earth a man pushing 40 would see in her, besides the obvious. If you can’t bother to learn how to do laundry, you’re not really an adult. I don’t care how rich and privileged you are. Look it up on YouTube. Call a family member to guide you. The fact is, even children can do laundry.
It’s actually not as bad as it sounds. I’ve known people who can’t use it because of serious allergies to the fragrance components.
Generally, the only thing soap does is make cleaning debris off a surface much easier because the polar nature of the molecule allows it to enclose the object and make it soluble. It does not kill microorganisms, and in fact does little more than move bacteria around on your skin or inanimate surfaces. The twisting motion of the machine cycle probably does as much to remove body odor from the object as detergent would.
What about using fragrance free detergent?

I think that is exactly what an actress does regularly, though, conveying emotion with a single look. I was more shocked at her talking about modeling as shutting everything off. Those sound like some really blank and vacant photos!
This goes both ways there are plenty of models who think they can act. Like sukis best friend Cara who gets acting jobs because she is a model. And as far as i know suki herself is trying to be an actor and i am not aware she actually has dedicated any time to learning the craft of acting in any serious way. So i can’t take her seriously.
Real actors dedicate years to study their craft, there is more too it than being photogenic or having “a relationship with the camera”.
Either way suki gets model jobs and probably soon acting jobs because she is well connected, i doubt she would get these jobs if she wasn’t from a well connected family and dating copper. So she should stop whining and count her blessings.

I had a roommate in NYC who was a model early 90’s and she was booked for modeling jobs or on go-sees almost every day. It was the Supermodel era of Cindy, Naomi, Claudia,etc those girls were in such demand that the agencies needed more lesser known faces to fill the work coming their way. Advertisers, magazines and fashion industry couldn’t get enough of models, so the work trickled down from the top models to the second and third tiered girls on the books. My former roommate told me one day that she got jobs because the top Supermodels were too busy or the next tiered model above her were busy. She loved it. I remember seeing her in ads, but she wasn’t famous, but she worked all the time. She made so much money that she eventually bought an apartment somewhere in NY, maybe. Brooklyn, I lost track after she moved and she said she had enough to easily finish paying for her University tuition. There was a ton of work for models in the early 1990’s , almost everyone wanted to use model for their products or in ads. Now it’s all celebrities and movie stars….but
…..I also think it has to do with the fact that there isn’t the creative excitement around the current models that,Cindy, Naomi, Claudia, Linda etc, created. They came at a time when people like Kevin Auccoin, Bobby Brown, Versace were building themselves in the industry and new young, creative photographers were forming alliances with Vogue, Harpers Bazaar, etc and those magazines were willing to try a lot of new things and present new faces. The magazines took more risk back then and the magazines were better. IMO
I also think the Models were more exciting and truly beautiful in a way that made them relatable , but also almost magical.

She comes from a privileged background, doesn’t she? She probably didn’t grow up doing dishes. I was on holiday with a bunch of people at 18. We had rented some bungalows and did our own cooking. One of the guys with us was quite nouveau-riche and totally out of his depth when we told him to do the cleaning up. In his case though, he used waaaay too MUCH detergent. It was kinda funny. But shocking as well.
Her dad is a plastic surgeon but please she is annoying and that face / look she always seems to have. Actors on covers of magazines and models attempting to act. ummm. I had an au pair who must have THOUGHT she was privileged, can I wash my clothes in the washing machine, yes there it is turn the button, but my underwear is VERY expensive yeah so put it on delicate, that’s not privileged that’s just plan on stupid if you ask me.

I would be more inclined to think so too. As a fellow European, for me there is no significance attached to the OO other than it being the office of the POTUS.
for us europeans american history isn´t that important. We as you guys learn mainly the history of our own country and europe in school. The rest comes from hollywood movies 😉

I hear what you are all saying. Clearly the Oval Office will not hold the significance for Europeans that it does for Americans. But I am surprised at the “no significance” “no connection” comments, when there have been some major developments in the Oval Office that have had an impact on European history. I mean, FDR signed the declaration of war against Nazi Germany and Japan in that office.

I’m in agreement with mia girl. I’ve been fortunate to travel a lot and go to a lot of places I didn’t learn about in school, or that don’t have any personal meaning for me, but was still able to appreciate the significance and the history of them. Relating it only to the set of a TV show makes her sound pretty airheaded, but I can’t say I’m all that surprised.

Mentoring the actresses he has an interest in, i.e those in his films. She has no connection to him. This theory was thought up by fans of BC who don’t like him dating her. It’s not fact based.
@bns: I believe the thought is that dating Cooper will benefit her career, e.g he introduces her to people in the business, she gets recognition from being seen with him, etc. Obviously no one knows if it’s true. All I know is that he went public with her fairly quickly, and has been so public with her, which I didn’t think was his style. Something definitely seems weird, but it could be nothing.
@Rachel – Suki was in the remake of Pusher which was produced by Harvey Weinstein. There is supposedly a friendship between her mother and Georgina Chapman years past. Harvey is more than likely the person that introduced them at the Style Awards. I don’t believe there is an arrangement, but there was definitely a connection prior to Bradley.
I live in London and never heard of her before him. Thought they met at GQ party they have every year and they went to a club and they both are ridiculously good dancers she says!

It was the White House Correspondence Dinner that is held every year. The Dinner is a scholarship benefit for gifted students in college journalism programs. It was originally intended for journalists but, now Hollywood actors and celebrities are also invited. It also has a lot of criticism from esteemed journalists. For instance, Barbara Walters and Tom Brokaw refuse to attend. Suki was in attendance probably as a plus one with Bradley Cooper. He has been a guest before as has Gerard Butler, Kim Kardashian, Brad Paisley and even Lindsay Lohan has been invited before. The dinner itself is a touchy subject for many Americans because of the cost to put it on. Considering Bradley tries to act like he cares about social/political issues and veterans and has even spoke at a mental health conference in D.C., his date should at least try to speak somewhat educated when referring to the White House.

by the age of 22 she somehow managed to be in a sort of long term relationships with at least 2 British musicians, one of them being Luke Pritchard of the Kooks (remember he used to date Mischa Barton while she was a thing), who she then dumped for some other band-dude who proclaimed her to be the love of his life only for her to end up very soon with BC. Based on that history I really thought this girl was something else. Now, not so much.
