Christian Bale has been papped twice in the past week. He grabbed a muffin one day, and lunch on another. He smiled for the paparazzi, which is unusual. He’s friendly, but the guy doesn’t get papped very often. It happens so rarely that people get excited to see him out and about (especially with his family). Bale is so low-key that he and wife Sibi Blazic recently welcomed a baby boy, but no details were given. I wouldn’t expect to learn the new baby’s name anytime soon either. Bale has never officially confirmed his 9-year-old daughter’s name. So these two new batches of candids are unusual indeed.
Bale is raring up to start promoting Ridley Scott’s Exodus: Gods and Kings. This is one of those epic films that will either hit really big or be a money-wasting disaster. The movie should meet expectations because it appeals to the same crowd who watched Noah. Bale confessed to Hollywood Reporter that the film was so dead serious to shoot that he had to watch Monty Python in his downtime, just to unwind: “You have to have comedy in your life everyday on the set.”
After Exodus releases, Bale already has a new, high-profile gig waiting in the wings. He’s been hired to play Steve Jobs in a big-screen biopic. Do we need another Jobs movie after Ashton Kutcher played Mr. Apple in 2013? This new movie will be more prestigious. Aaron Sorkin has written the script, and Danny Boyle will direct. Bale may bring some Oscar power to the project:
Oscar-winner Christian Bale, who has played Batman and Moses, is about to take on another iconic figure: Steve Jobs.
Sources confirm the actor is in talks to star in Jobs, Sony’’s biopic about the late Apple co-founder.
Based on Walter Isaacson’s biography Steve Jobs the real-life drama is directed by Danny Boyle and written by Aaron Sorkin.
Scott Rudin will produce along with Mark Gordon and Guymon Casady.
Sorkin has publicly said the movie will be divided into three long scenes, each taking place backstage before one of Apple’s famous product launches.
“The first one being the Mac,” he told the Daily Beast. “The second one being NeXT, after he had left Apple. And the third one being the iPod.”
“It’s a little like writing about the Beatles,” he added. “There are so many people out there that know him and revere him.”
Leonardo DiCaprio had been circling the role but eventually passed to take time off from acting. David Fincher had also been in talks at one point to direct.
[From Variety]
I find it interesting that Leo DiCaprio was in the running for this movie. It sounds like Leo turned the film down to extend his endless summer of yachts and supermodels. Man, if this turns out to be an Oscar role, Leo is gonna bring his grumpy chihuahua expression to the forefront. This movie will probably be a lot like The Social Network if Fincher was considered as director. Bale will do well, of course.

Excellent choice.
How many movies about Jobs do we need? I’m sick and tired of apple propaganda.
There’s been one so far, and it was terrible. I’m hoping this will be a more grounded and realistic look at Steve Jobs.
He’s fantastic in every role he takes on, but I’m with you- do we really another Jobs film so soon?
Facially he’s a much better pick for the role and I think he’ll do a great job.
I will watch any movie he’s in, I think he’s the best there is. And it sounds like there’s a pretty good team behind it as well. This has been rumored for a while though and I don’t think there’s anything official yet.
I’m trying to figure out who thought Stewie, er I mean Leonardo DiCaprio, would be a good choice. I don’t think you should cast solely on resemblance, but there should be at least a hint of it.
He’s been brilliant in almost every role he has ever taken on. Yes, he’ll do a great job. But has it been confirmed by his team that he has accepted the role? Because he was Fincher’s first and only choice when Fincher was set to direct. But Bale passed on the role and then Fincher dropped out to be replaced by Boyle. So why is Bale circling the role when he has already said no once?
He never passed the role .The studio never approached him when Fincher was the director because the negociations fastly dropped with Fincher( Fincher wanted $10 millions, the director cut and the control of the marketing)
oh okay then. Didn’t know about the drama regarding Fincher. Missed opportunity. While I like Boyle, I’d have been more interested in a Fincher/Bale collaboration.
@don’t kill me I’m French
Yep. Also, Fincher is fantastic but there are also rumors that he is difficult in addition to demanding hundreds of takes. Supposedly Bale got fed up with David O Russell (who is a jerk) when promoting American Hustle, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he wanted to avoid another situation like that. He’ll nail Jobs IMO and in terms of his physical looks is a much better choice than Leo
He will nail it. Love Bale.
I like the concept of this new Jobs movie. 3 vignette style sections of his life. Can only go up after Kutcher.
Ashton Kutcher is somewhere crying salty tears
Yes!!! Those where my thoughts too. Move over Ashton it’s time for a real actor to do the job.( no punt intended)
Yeah, well said you, ‘real actor’ being the operative words…
Steve Jobs biopic?:

I refuse to watch Ashton Kutcher in anything, so yeah, this could be good. I’d watch Bale talk all day long! Dreamy.
He’s a great actor. I’m always sucked into his films. I’m never watching Christian Bale try to act.
2 things though.
1. My first thought was he’ll be so much better than Ashton. That movie was awful.
2. Bale’s poor wife will be tripping over later 80’s computers from his method, immersive acting prep.
Hee. But knowing Bale, you’re probably right about those computers.
I thought Ashton looked the part of young Steve. I just can’t take him seriously. He’ll always be Kelso to me.
He looked the part of young jobs. That’s it.
I relate it to a band of brothers episode. Jimmy fallon had a blink and you’ll miss it part at the end. He drove on and gave Easy company the much needed ammo.
To me it actually looked like Jimmy Fallon time traveled to that location as himself to help out the real guys fighting. Some actors just can’t act like anything other than themselves. Kstews falls into that too.
Love Bale. But not interested in the dreary subject matter. Pass.
+1
It has already been done, why the need for another?
Or is Hollywood having a dry spell with stories? I think that’s probably the reason for another Jobs’ movie.
Whatever, Bale is always the man. Am a huge fan.
American Psycho, The Machinist, The Fighter and Batman Trilogy are unforgetable.
He has such a great track record, hope one movie doesn’t ruin it what with the fickle world of Hollywood.
Nene
Because this will be an improvement. Like the movie Hulk with Connelly and Bana. It was awful. So, they made a new movie with Edward Norton and Liv Tyler. Much better.
And Into The Furnace was great as well.
Out of the Furnace I think? And yes he was excellent in that. I’ve never not liked him in a role.
Yes!
My mistake.
I hope Exodus bombs and I’ve already heard people talking about boycotting it. I love how Hollywood wants to make realistic biblical movies without POC in it.
The Steve Jobs biopic sounds interesting instead.
It won’t bomb. It will probably do decent box office. Agree with you though. The casting is just embarrassingly dumb and insulting.
I am SO disappointed with the people who are doing the movie–Christian, Sigourney Weaver, Joel Edgerton, Ridley Scott. More with Scott. He isn’t some unknown director with no pull—he chose to make that particular story. And if he wanted to make a story about two white brothers who were going to war against each other, he could’ve hired a screenwriter to come up with an original screenplay–not take a story that has non-white people in the lead roles, and cast white people. And I read his response to the whole thing (interviewer didn’t even have the balls to ask him directly about the casting of white people in POC roles), and he was completely dismissive of the entire problem. And Joel Edgerton gave a ‘Derp, I know I’m white, um, playing a non-white role, derp, controversy, sorry I’m still taking my check’ answer.
The worst part is that the majority of the cast are POC, BUT the lead roles. WTF?
It won’t bomb. I would love for more diversified casting but the brouhaha over Exodus is almost entirely online. Heck the controversy helped Exodus a little by actually letting people hear about the film.
Bale is a much better actor than the overhyped Leo Decaprio. I love how Bale lives a normal life outside of his career as a Hollywood actor. More actors should follow his example. I think he is a much better choice for Steve Jobs than Leo.
But I think Leo could capture the *giant head* on screen quite well:

Leo would be perfect in a Stewie Jobs biopic.
Indeed.
“Do we need another Jobs movie after Ashton Kutcher played Mr. Apple in 2013?”
Ummm, consider that sentence. Yes we do! It starred Kutcher, that’s not a real movie!
Bale watches Monty Python, I’ll give him another Oscar just for that! Also it doesn’t matter what it does in North America. This will be a massive international hit. Box office is a different game these days.
Yes. Because Danny Boyle! I’ll will see this film just because of him. Bale and Sorkin are additional pluses 🙂
God yes, Excellent choice.
I just saw American Psycho on TV again after not seeing it for about ten years and he would be fantastic. This guy has skills!
Christian Bale is an amazing actor. And soo fine.
He’s giving me real ‘HOT DAD’ vibes here. I much prefer his dad style to Mr. Pitt’s.
Right?! He’s devastatingly handsome.
Gawd isn’t he just though!
Christian actually dresses pretty sloppy to me. The pictures on this post aren’t bad, but he’s usually wearing those type shorts with sneakers/sandals, and a wrinkled dress shirt. He’s a hot hobo though.
He is so handsome to me. I love him. I do think it’s weird that neither he nor his wife have been spotted out with the baby at all.
Noway, I haven’t been in any pictures (besides one hospital family one) with my newborn yet — she was born August 25th. I imagine Sibi is laying low on purpose. He’s barely even dressed himself, lol.
Christian and Sibi have been spotted out (sightings via twitter) but no stroller or anything like that.
Yeah, he’s so hot.
He’s a good pick for anything, isn’t he?
Love him. As an actor and as a person.
Another biopic. I am over this hollywood trend.
How ’bout we mix it up with past trends? Steve Jobs, Vampire Killer?

Yeah, good choice. He has mastered the art of losing/gaining weight.
I find his calves and ankles to be most sexy.
For me it’s his hands. And his hair.
“Bale will do well, of course. ” Ha-ha, I love the way you said that 🙂 He looks so happy, of course he’s smiling at the paparazzi, he has every reason to. He’s recently had another baby, his marriage looks good, the parts he gets are exceptional, why wouldn’t he smile?
That being said, not another serious, dreary biopic! I’d really like to see something lighter, bubblier with him for a change. But it’s his choice, of course.
Can’t wait!! I love all things Sillycon Valley!!
Ah, Christian Bale was my first ever love! He’s still my number one and he’s the best actor out there (sorry Cumberbatch. You’re a close second but you didn’t play Patrick Bateman to perfection).
Can we call Leo ” grumpy chihuahua ” forever!?!?- so funny
Considering he is fantastic in everything he does, I have no doubt he’ll be fantastic in this as well. He’ll definitely put Ashton Kutcher’s performance to shame. Oh wait….Ashton already did that.
He can do no wrong in my book, so if he decides to do it, he’ll be great 🙂
does anyone else noticed how they brown faced the hite ctors in the
