Duchess Kate and Prince William have done/will do a bunch of events through the course of the next week, so I’m going to break up the photos by event, okay? We’ll have the Remembrance Day pics tomorrow, for sure. These photos are just for the event on Saturday during the day, which is when Kate and William went to Wales to mark the 50th anniversary of the Pembrokeshire oil refinery. This was their first public event together since they returned from their Scottish “babymoon” vacation.
For the appearance, Kate wore BUTTONS!!! YAY!! Actually, they look more like big shiny balls, right? The pale blue coat is by Matthew Williamson and it retails for $2650 (at full price on Net-a-Porter). Kate has about a million coats, but her coat game can be a little hit or miss, depending on how you feel about double-breasted styles and buttons. I love the color of this coat and I think the wool-blend fabric looks great. It would have been great to see this without the shiny balls/buttons and maybe in a more modern single-breast. Underneath the coat, Kate wore a brown shirt dress from Hobbs that we only got a glimpse of when her coat blew open a few times – you can see a photo of the dress here (it’s nice). She finished up her ensemble with Aquatalia Rhumba boots and her green amethyst Kiki McDonough earrings, which I believe William gave to her for Christmas a few years ago.
If you’d like to read a particularly sugary account of this public appearance, go here to People Mag’s story. They literally noted when Kate smiled at a baby and one witness breathlessly reported, “That was her motherly instinct.” They also received a toy oil truck for Prince George from the refinery’s general manager, who suggested that William is probably going to keep it for himself.
Does anyone have an opinion on the theory that Kate is wearing a lot of blue lately because she thinks/knows she’s having another boy? My gut says it’s going to be another boy. My gut also says Blake Lively’s having a boy, so maybe my gut is just in an all-boy mood lately.

No. The top buttons look like nipples. Two big, shiny nipples. The placement is just unfortunate, but I can’t un-see it, and I can’t stop snickering.
The coat would look just fine (not amazing) if she removed those two buttons.
I know, my first thought too. I feel uncomfortable just looking at them. The placement is just so bad! How could you design that and not be actually punking your customers…
Hahah they do! Especially in the second picture.
Well, that’s something I can’t unsee. Hilarious.
But seriously, a $2,000 coat with buttons that look like they came from a 50 percent off special from Woolworth’s circa 1960? It’s an otherwise gorgeous coat, but why?
Woolworths… oh, my.
I came here to say the exact same thing….I think its a combination of the colour and those nipple buttons. I have never thought of Mathew Williamson’s strong point as tailoring….he usually does so much with print and colour and lovely texture. Now we know why.
Well, if she can’t flash the bottom half of her body, then she’ll put shiny, big nipple-buttons on the top half of her body.

Not only do those buttons look incredibly awkward, but also the top pair of pockets. They make the coat appear more highwaisted than it probably is. And I don’t care for the color and style of her dress from what I’ve seen of it on other sites; it seems too matronly for her. Also, the deep brown doesn’t go well at all with a pastel blue dress and black boots.
Matthew Williamson is so done, I’m surprised she’s wearing him. It’s boring, but I guess she can’t be too fashion forward being who she is and all.
Edit: I meant pastel blue coat, not dress.
Nipple buttons. My thoughts too.
And yes, it is boring.
And yes, her hair is flying around her face.
A nice scarf would look really nice.
Oh for the love of god, why the hell can’t the designer get this right? These buttons are horrid. Even I learned at an early age during my sewing projects to keep the buttons away from the boobs. Plus, they aren’t even matched up! This coat would be fine, hope Mrs. Puke removes them immediately. I don’t want to ever see these two buttons again.
Why is the article fully focused on superficial stuff like her clothes and very little is said about the work she is doing?
How much can you really say about an appearance for the 50th anniversary of an oil refinery?
That’s one of my issues with the monarchy. I never understand why most of the places they visit actually need to be visited.
Jobs. That something has been going that long while keeping jobs in that area for that long. It’s to keep it in the public mind.
Well, problem is she barely does anything and when she does it, it’s because she’s told to do it and not because she shows any interest in it, same with William.
Well, Really, what do you expect her to do at these events? She’s at a refinery. Is she supposed to put on overalls and get to work with the employees? Her job is to show up, shake hands, make small talk and just make people happy that she’s there. Mission accomplished. It’s not like the Queen does anything more than that either.
True regarding this engagement, Renee. However, there was a meeting of their charitable foundation last week. William and Harry went, but Kate did not. She was later seen shopping.
I don’t know if there was a legitimate reason she wasn’t there; however, if she was out in front of us more you wouldn’t have people like me wondering why she couldn’t go to a meeting of her own charitable foundation. She’s gone to others.
Other Renee, Her Majesty does do visits like these, but she also has a constitutional role and work related to that. Please do not lump what HM does in with these two uninspiring twits. As for small talk? What on earth would Kate Middleton say to people who have worked hard all of their lives? (crickets)
what work?
Exactly. Unless you count Royal Heir Maker as a job.
I see what you did there, Carole! And I know you’re not THE Carole.
What work?
Also, you may be visiting the wrong blog. This is CeleBITCHY.
The placement of the top buttons was off..they are right over her nipples..it looks stupid, especially since we know she has her clothes tailored to her..
yes, the two unnecessary buttons on her boobs look stupid… like golden nipple-pearls. And the light blue colour washes her out.
The complete colour combination isn´t that good. Brown dress, dark blue tights, black boots and a light blue coat with golden nipples ehh buttons and then the red Remembrance poppy?! Not good. Not good.
And yes she wears blue often lately.
My guess is she wore those black tights because they’re a bit heavier & therefore warmer; but really, if I knew I would be having the kind of day she had I’d’ve been wearing trousers, wool trousers. As for the coat, pretty, but–double-breasted coats should have their buttons line up. They should be in parallel rows. And, darnit, I can’t unsee those silver nipples!
That’s my issue with the buttons too. The placement is off. It follows the seam, but it’s poorly placed. Imo the shiny gold on a soft blue doesn’t look good. A silver or matte color would have been better.
Brass balls.
Wow she looks really pretty in the last picture. A hint of weight on her does wonders.
She really does look better with weight. Hopefully she won’t go so skinny after this one.
Weight??? Right, she is absolutely huge. Seriously there are lots of people who would love that ” extra weight” LOL
We aren’t implying she’s a whale. Just a little weighty compared to the stick she has been.
“Weighty” as opposed to “waity”? Sorry, couldn’t resist……
@Carole, are you Kate’s mother?
@Feeshalori: a good one 🙂
My eye is twitching at the brown dress with the black tights and boots.
Something nice: she looks really pretty with the extra baby weight on her face, and I’m genuinely happy she seems less barfy! No one needs that ish.
same thing here re brown dress with black tights and boots, she should have gone with dark brown accessories instead.
•INeedANap•
Add the black accessories with a brown dress eye twitch to the addition of irritation because she combined all of that with a LIGHT blue coat.
BUT I agree that she looks wonderful with the extra pregnancy weight on her face and frame. It’s amazing how a few extra pounds makes such a big difference on her. Love it!
She likes those color combinations, I think. I’ve definitely seen pictures of her from before the wedding/engagement mixing baby blue with brown and black.
•Telicity•
Very true. But didn’t she have a small print that would tie together all the colours?
I’m rather fond of the placement of said buttons. 🙂
For real though, I love Remembrance Day. It’s always so classy and respectful. I wish we did something similar on a national level here.
We do (I’m assuming that was an American comment). It’s called Veteran’s Day. Communities everywhere will be having remembrances of one sort or another, frequently at military cemeteries. And there will be an official ceremony at Arlington National Ceremony, 11AM sharp.
I realize that, but it just seems like a bigger to-do over there. I wasn’t trying to imply that we don’t do anything of the sort.
•sigh((s))•
We’ve actually broken Remembrance Day into two federal holidays. We changed Remembrance Day into Veterans Day decades ago which changed the holiday from honouring the past veterans (and as a former wife of an active duty sailor, to most veterans, this isn’t very meaningful to them) because we wanted to focus on honouring present day members of the Armed Forces. We also have Memorial Day — which is meant to be more solemn but still doesn’t seem to capture the feeling of Remembrance Day.
I agree with you, watching all the services I feel as if we Americans are missing something — even if it’s the solidarity of other nations. When I was a kid in the ’70s, veterans of both WWI but mostly WWII made poppies and sold them. I haven’t seen that in ages. The poppy here in the US has lost its meaning. 😢 For me the best explanation is similar to the Vietnam Wall — the other war memorials are nice but none approach the sanctity of the Wall. None.
LadySlippers
That is sad. On a more positive note..
I’m at the Marine Marathon every year. It’s like my vacation time. My husband and I stop there. Walk around. At any given time we see people sharing stories. Maybe a vet telling some small children what they saw and what they gave for their country. And the finish line is at Arlington. Walk a bit further and people are falling to the knees at the site (sight?).
We may not have 1 giant remembrance where all are focused at 1 point in time on the same thing, but people do remember and are humbled. We may not show it every day, but the sacrifice isn’t for nothing.
•sigh((s))•
This is really a nice summary.

Thanks, lady s
Very nice color on her. She put on some weight which is surprising with HG as most women who have this condition tend to lose quite a lot of weight in the first trimester. So she either has a fairly light case of HG or just really bad morning sickness.
Or she had really good doctors monitoring her and forcing nourishment into her through an IV (something most women don’t have.)
Hopeless
HG has been left behind now. Many publications stopped calling it that shortly after it began. Many people read the wrong article in page 1. How many people turn to page 6 for the correction?
Like others have said. If Kate gets a hang nail it’s monitored as if the next step is a staph infection.
I think the extra weight makes her look worse. Or perhaps its the fact that she still looks OLD even with the extra pounds.
It’s fine and boring, apart from looking like it’s tugging oddly in places. And blowing up.
Did she dye her hair recently? I think the color’s a bit brassy and kind of ages her.
@carole-for the answer to your question, please see almost every Kate post we have discussed.
To me, she looks better in royal blues rather than this light blue. She does look good with a bit of weight on.
I would like a more vibrant color on her.
As long as I’m doling out advice, I think she should cut a good six inches off her hair. She’d look a little more stylish IMO.
And the color’s looking not-so-good. Like a Clairol home-coloring gone bad.
I agree. The hair colour is just awful on her. It looks cheap and ages her because it screams that she covering up gray hairs.
Her make-up is super thick, too. A lot has been said in the past about her overdoing the eyeliner/mascara, etc. and it is spot on. She would be a lot prettier going more natural.
Yes, jewel tones look best on her. She should stay away from pastels unless they are like white with a hint of color.
I agree Santolina. She does look best in darker colours. Baby blue is for the Spring and Summer. It’s November, darker colours are more appropriate IMO
ITA with the jewel tones, especially for a Fall/Winter wardrobe. The light blues she’s been wearing lately maybe a subtle hint about the new baby as some have mentioned, but she should avoid them and light grey as they give her a washed-out look. On the opposite end, all-black ensembles like the Remembrance Day outfit are too harsh for her skin tone; somehow, they manage to harden her features. Deep V-necks are not flattering on her either and she should ditch the boots and buy some nice tailored slacks for a simple, elegant look like CP Mary in this photo: http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/galleries/TMG8864924/Duchess-of-Cambridge-and-Princess-Marys-fashion-face-off.html
Olenna,
I have always loved Mary’s wedding gown. It is beautiful and rather unique. Queen Margrethe and Queen Anne-marie also had some simple and elegant wedding gown when they married in the 60s. Mette-Marit was married in this super simple etheral gown that look like it was spun of spidersilk by tiny fairies.

ArtHistorian – Is Queen Margaret wearing a daisy brooch? Cute
Mette-Marit looks absolutely incredible. What a stunning dress.
Yes she is! It was a gift from her mother Queen Ingrid. Ingrid got it from her father, the Swedish king, as a wedding gift in honour of her late mother Princess Margaret of Connaught and England. Her nickname was Daisy and so is Queen Margrethe II affectionately called.
There’s a great article on the dress, its materials and the jewels she wore on her wedding day here: http://orderofsplendor.blogspot.dk/2012/10/readers-top-10-wedding-gowns-10-queen.html
@ArtHistorian, thanks for the links. I’ve always loved CP Mary’s gown, but the others are really lovely as well. I’m not a fashion history expert, but each has a touch of the “historical” from different periods in the necklines. If I could choose one to wear for myself (if I was 4-5 inches taller!), I’d go with Mette-Marit’s gown. It’s so sleek and elegant, and really shows off her figure.
AH, I always liked the sketch of Mary’s gown better than the dress. A nod to QM’s dress but unique as well. I’m not sure if it was because the satin creased so badly, or the panels were too heavy to float like they were supposed to. The way the train attached down her back was awkward. Like Princess Madeleine’s wedding dress, I wish the execution had been better.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/wendylady1/Fashion%20Police/Royalty/Royal%20Wedding%20Dresses/MaryDonaldsondresssketch02.jpg
It is unfortunate about the crinkling of the fabric. I’m not an expert on dress-making but I can’t help to think it might have been more succesful in a different material. I didn’t see it move until recently because I didn’t see the wedding at the time. I was studying abroad and had an exam coming up, but I would have loved to be in Copenhagen that day. I do like the panels at the skirt. Visually the create a nice effect, and I adore the neckline, which is very flattering, and the little calla lily sleeves. I think that the train was a very tricky thing because it was meant to be detached to she could sit and dance in the dress.
The whole setting of the wedding was absolutely wonderful! Thery were married in Vor Frue Kirke (The Church of Our Lady), which is a gorgeous piece of Neo-Classicist architecture. Mary walked the aile to the dramatic, baroque music of Händel’s Zadok the Priest. The ceremony was perfored by the then bishop of Copenhagen (he is now the royal chaplain “kongelig confessionarius”). Incidentally, he is my old pastor and he performed by confirmation when is was 14.

Mette-Marit’s dress was just perfect – for her. She has a bit of an ethereal look with her iceblonde hair and pale skin and she really looked like she had walked out of the fairy mists of a mountain troll’s hall on her wedding day. And the wedding itself was such an emotional and joyous affair – where everyone really showed their feelings (that is generally the case with the Scandinavian royals. I didn’t see Maxima’s wedding but she is not a lady afraid of showing what she feels). In that respect I found Will and Kate’s wedding and odd, subdued and rather disappointing affair (apart from the dress). The stiff upper-lip is soo passé.
I prefer the outfit she wore today for Remembrance Day Sunday and was pleasantly surprised to see that she managed to keep a solemn expression on her face — unless it was boredom…
Or maybe she was silently fuming over the fact that Sophie, (Countess of Wessex) wore what appears to be the same coat. Can’t be sure since I only saw one photo of them next to each other, (and waist-up only) but it sure looks like Kate & Sophie picked the same coat, or maybe slight variations on the same.
That, or perhaps she DID get the memo that this is a solemn occasion where showing respect is even more important than usual.
•Elizabeth R•
Pics show the style and the fabric of Kate and Sophie’s coats are very different. I think it’ll be easier to see once you get a good look at them.
I agree Elizabeth. They look very similar, although the fabric is different. I think they’re both McQueen.
I think they’re both McQueen but Sophie’s is shorter and from an earlier season.
You’re all correct – thanks ladies! That’s what I get for only looking at one photo before jumping to conclusions. 😉 It’s obvious they’re different, upon closer inspection. The WKW blog said they are both McQueen, different seasons / collections.
•Sandi•
But the pics they choose of Kate aren’t the most flattering. Clear snark on behalf of the editors. Like wow.
Probably silently cursing that there’s no wind to show off her assets to the crowd…….
William’s suit jacket blew open several times and revealed he wasn’t (gasp) wearing a belt.
Maybe he’s wearing the English version of the Sears Sansabelt? 😉
LOL. Scandal!
Megan, when his suit coat blows open/up enough to show his naked a$$ or naked full-frontal up to the waist, then we’ll talk. Until then, yep, we still get to think Kate Middleton is supposed to weight her hems – even the hems of her coats. 🙂
I don’t think the colour choice means anything, but for some reason I also think Kate is having another boy. Totally irrational I know. But would she know the sex of the baby so soon anyway?
Yes she could know the sex already. There is an amnio offered to women over 35 in the states that will tell you the gender that early. I don’t know this for sure but I’d guess that Kate is given every test there is including the early amnio.
Yes, I had amnio with both my kids because I was an older mother, and I did know the sexes early on. But there is a slight risk of miscarriage so I don’t know if Kate would have been advised to have one. It is an invasive procedure, using the longest needle you’ve ever seen. I just don’t know if they would risk it at her relatively young age.
With the new noninvasive blood tests, you can find out as early as 10 weeks. The tests seperate the fetal nda from mom’s DNA in the sample. They also do the tests for trisomy mutations at the same time. We found out at 11 weeks.
There is a new non invasive test out now that can tell the sex of the baby by the mothers blood. It is awesome. Also tells a lot of other genetic information. I just had this at 14 weeks, could have had it sooner too but I didn’t go to the first appointment until 14 weeks. I am having my third and final. Two girls already, and I am having a boy!
Congrats! That certainly sounds preferable to an amnio. My kids are 23 and 15 so procedures have come a long way since then.
Congratulations! Great for you.
Congrats!
She’s always worn a lot of blue (better to match the ring?) but I think there was only one picture of her in baby blue with George, whilst she wore pale pink quite a lot during the pregnancy. I tend to believe them when they say they wanted the surprise with George’s sex, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they didn’t know again this time.
•AM•
I’d buy that if Harry hadn’t spilled the beans early — and he wasn’t the only one either. Several people specifically stated they knew it was a boy prior to Grorge’s birth.
Her little hint of a bump is adorable. And thanks for the nipple thing, folks. I can’t unsee it either!
I feel like her fashion is mostly coats. And they all look basically the same.
Pretty much sums it up.
I wonder if she shops on net-a-porter… I bet she does. Same day delivery in London — lucky!!
It has been said that her assistant/stylist scours Net-a-Porter for her.
I think she always tends to wear a lot of blue.
BALLS
Am I the only one who sees that the hem of her coat is not straight? Yes, it’s trivial but if you sew, you notice these things.
I noticed that too. The fabric looks expensive to my untrained eye but the tailoring looks cheaply done.
hey, maybe that´s what Kate does all day at home! She is her own tailor! Would make sense. I don´t think a professionel would tailor Kate´s clothes so cheaply. Kate´s hems often look poorly done and i remember she once wore a coat with a lost button. So it is really possible that she does it by herself. That could be the reason why the top nipp… eh buttons here look so uneven.
I noticed the nipple balls aren’t straight.
Snort.
Yes Kate’s bad hem job was the first thing I noticed. Many of her hems are often shoddy workmanship and I’m beginning to suspect that Natasha (the art history major who shops for Kate’s clothes) is in charge of hems and buttons.
Other than nipple-balls, it is a fine coat.
Those two gold buttons looks like nipples. I guess she spends a lot of money on coats because a lot of these events are outside.
Lol I mix and match brown and black all the time! People act like it is some cardinal rule of fashion or something. It can be done and I see people wearing that combination a lot. Plus I have brown hair like Kate so all brown makes me look super monochromatic. Just my opinion though.
•Amy•
Lol. I think it can be done if you know how to do it right. I don’t think Kate did here — and it’s the light blue coat the kills it for me. A deeper, saturated colour was needed to balance the brown/black combo.
Agree. A winter white or medium grey might have worked better as well.
This particular combo of pale blue + brown was huge about 10 years ago, most especially in housewares. That’s why it feels dated and so many are objecting.
I think she looks lovely! It’s nice to see her looking healthy and happy.
I think she will have a girl.
And on a side note, I’m thankful the police were able to foil a plot to kill the Queen! A bunch of terrorist whack jobs had plotted to assassinate the Queen at today’s ceremony honouring veterans. It makes my blood boil that anyone who wish, never mind plot, harm to her. She is fiercely dedicated to her position and country.
Oh, and so is Prince Harry – he went back to Afghanistan to see the remaining soldiers and pay his respects. He is so passionate about the military!
•Laura•
Wow! I’m in awe of his dedication, might explain why he was quiet yesterday.
http://m.bbc.com/news/uk-29977024
Didn’t hear about that one! Also amaIng she showed up; her security must have had a fit!
I like the coat minus the buttons and I don’t like all the different colours she is wearing.
Okay, so are the pics of Kate smiling on RD snark from the editors? She’s been caught again (but it’s more proud smiling as her hubby is laying a wreath). I’m thinking it’s both Kate can’t keep a solemn face (and to be fair others have been caught in lighthearted moments as well) and snark from the various editors (William needs to learn to play a tad nicer with the press — stuff like this will slowly erode any good PR they want and need).
Lots of pics and a nice timeline of Remembrance Day 2014 (minus info on Harry as his trip might still have been under the press blackout).
http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/uk-world-news/remembrance-day-recap-updates-queen-4596776
Interesting how they continue to refer to her as “Kate Middleton” (although Duchess of Cambridge, also). It looks like the others are referred by their royal name, i.e. Duchess of Cornwall and Sophie Wessex, not their maiden name.
Part of the reason she’s still called KM is that she hasn’t been seen in public enough times for DoC to stick. She’s been in the public longer as KM and no one associates her with DoC yet.
Camilla, Sophie, Diana and Sarah had a few years when they were referred to as their maiden names.
With Diana, her maiden name mutated into Princess Diana instead of The Princess of Wales which was her proper title.
You see the same thing with Harry. No matter how often his proper name is used, ie Prince Henry, people still call him Prince Harry.
It’s a public/media recognition thing.
Diana certainly known as “Lady Di” for the early years of her marriage by the public. I think a lot of it is the public wanting to be able to use a first name, as well as that being the name they were first introduced to the public by.
In Harry’s case, I think it was announced at the same time as his name was revealed that he was to be called Harry.
Yup, the papers use what we are familiar with. All the royal women are often referred to by their pre royal marriage names, especially in the first few years of the royal marriage.
Ping Pong balls?
😊
Why is she not wearing her hair up? Given that it was rainy and windy, her hair doesn’t look nice. It looks messy, more like she’s out running errands.
I have a theory that her way of “weighting” her dresses is to wear a coat.
#NoFlashes
#NoStructuredBoots
#DuchessLogic
Her style is horrible. She seriously needs to evolve. She is going to be a mother of two, she’s almost mid-thirties and she is married to a royal. Her hair and clothing looks exactly the same since the engagement. Nothing about her looks…or actions says mature capable woman.
ITA.
I think Kate looked lovely in the pale blue coat – really pretty. Regarding the different colours, surely it is old fashioned to be “too matching”? The bottom line though is – her choice.
•Caroline•
It’s obviously her choice — who’s saying otherwise? And I don’t think anyone is clamouring for her to be ‘too matchy’ either. If you’re going to be avant garde with fashion (not that brown/black is that avant garde now), you need to be able to pull it off. And while I don’t speak for everyone, it’s my opinion that she didn’t pull off this outfit for a few reasons (partly due to the colour combination but also because the coat seemed ill fitted). Clearly not everyone will share that opinion.
*Ladyslippers*
If you are going to quote you should do it correctly. Was not “too matchy” I said but “too matching”!
I have a feeling she is not a clotheshorse and could happily wear jeans and boots most of the time. She dresses appropriately does not wear anything that screams “look at me”.
Welllll…..the blue mullet dress she wore recently that revealed a lot of leg sort of screamed look at me. The skin tight jeggings that look painted on scream look at my body too, as do the short tops that reveal her abdomen. The light, flippy little dresses that blow up over her head if a bird flies by revealing her thong/butt floss underwear is in the “look at me” category too….so a number of her outfits have been way too revealing for public outings in my opinion.
LOL…. so true.
Are you serious??? Kate Middleton is a media hound. She loves the attention and always knows where the camera is located.
Why does he not wear a ring and do they ever hold hands?
He has never worn a wedding ring, and doesn’t own one. His father never has or did, either. It’s not unusual in his family. It’s possibly not unusual in England. Apparently it’s no big deal to them.
Can’t answer the holding hands part, except that my husband and I rarely ever hold hands, but that doesn’t mean we don’t like each other.
Charles in fact wore a ring for both marriages. It’s Philip who doesn’t wear a ring. Some men just don’t like jewelry.
William has stated he dislike all rings.
And Charles still wears his wedding ring from Diana too.
•AM•
I thought Philip (like Charles and other aristo/royals) wore his wedding ring with his signet ring. Yes? No? Perhaps I’m confusing the two…
Charles wears a ring and Philip did until his fingers got too swollen that he had to stop.
Philip had a wedding ring which he wore behind his signet ring, just like Charles wears his wedding ring. If you google pics in which their hands are visible, you can see the two rings.
Philip stopped wearing ALL his rings when his fingers grew too swollen to accommodate them.
His fingers are more swollen than Charles’s fingers.
William doesn’t have a wedding ring. Never had one made even for appearances sake.
I didn’t know that about Philip, thanks ladies! I’ve thought perhaps William didn’t have one made because of his RAF job, but that would be taking a very short view on a long term commitment. I have friends whose husbands can’t wear their rings at work, they still have rings.
If I had ever chosen to marry, I wouldn’t have worn (or even had) a wedding ring, either. Nothing to do with (inner) “commitment”; I just hate, HATE, outward tokens, meant entirely for other people to see and observe – that’s all.
Maybe he is the same.
They held hands at Christmas either last year or the year before. They’ve also been photographed walking hand in hand on their down time a couple of times.
William needs to just buzz the top of his head and keep the rest super super short. I think he’d actually look better that way than with this wispy stuff all over his head. Just embrace it, guy.
I’ve wished this for years. Cut it down, William! Just cut it down! I also think he has a strong enough face to pull off the totally shaved head, but he seems unwilling.
no. Not good style at all. *perfection?* I think not.
– the A line hem is nice tho. 🙂
So what is the deal with her constantly holding something in front of her stomach? She always seems to have a purse or her hands covering it up. We all know that she is pregnant, so she obviously isn’t trying to hide anything.
Now, I haven’t had to stand around for hours on end while everyone is staring at me and taking my picture, so maybe it is just a comfortable way to stand?
I saw a close up zoom on the collar of that brown dress which evokes bad 70s leisure suit fabric to me, eek. And I’m meh on brown dress, black boots and purse, black ? tights. Then the baby blue coat and pale green ? earrings. I think it showcases how much she needs someone to pull together complete outfits for her head to toe — even if its using only pieces she has already purchased on her own. If that’s all she would let a stylist do, that would still help… maybe. A cold day at a refinery — wouldn’t perfectly tailored, sophisticated trousers and a polished ponytail (to keep her hair from whipping entirely over her face) been fab ? We could have chattered about that for days 🙂 !
Well, allegedly the Royal Family supports lots of things green and environmental and they allegedly have an interest in preserving the environment and alllegedley this preservation is not a form of self interest (e.g. keep their hunting grounds for blood sports)
What Kate could have said:
– Questions about fuel efficiency.
– Questions about the environmental impact of fuel. Is it possible to make it less toxic?
– Questions about programs to help parents.
– Questions about taking in apprentices. Youth unemployment is unbelievably high in GB and it is a real issue. Even Prince Phillip does something about it.
“Does anyone have an opinion on the theory that Kate is wearing a lot of blue lately because she thinks/knows she’s having another boy?”
I don’t know about that (and I can’t say I really give a damn), but I do know she seems to like playing that sort of little games with the public. She likes it a LOT. (Remember the “protective” hand-on-the-stomach or the refusal to drink alcohol long before she actually fell pregnant? Unless, of course, she WAS pregnant but miscarried.)
I suppose that sort of toying gives her a sense of “control” or something.
Or just something to do. 🙂
The pretty color and fabric can’t make up for the fact that the coat is just ugly. The shoulders are too wide, the buttons are horrendous, the pockets are off along with the whole cut, and the lapels look cheap.
