Here are some photos from last night’s first annual Diamond Ball benefiting The Clara Lionel Foundation, which is Rihanna’s foundation. She named it for her grandparents and the foundation aims to “improve the quality of life for communities globally in the areas of health, education, arts, and culture.” Plus, it’s just a nice opportunity for Rihanna to play dress up, right?
So let’s start with Rihanna – she wore this Zac Posen gown with Chopard jewels. I’ve been trying to figure out what that reddish stone is. My Twitter research says that the stone is a “rubellite”. With stones like rubies, sapphires, emeralds and the like, the darker the stone, the more expensive. This rubellite is so light, I mistook it for a morganite (no disrespect, I have a morganite ring and I love it). This stone is 200 carats, which is… something. I can’t say I’m a fan of the Posen gown though – I always think his gowns look over-designed.
Next up: Kim Kardashian came to the event with her mom, because Kanye has pretty much abandoned her. Kim wore this completely fug Alexander Wang for Balenciaga. This was supposed to be worn by someone tall and thin, you know? Kim just makes it look so cheap, like a fisherman caught a drowsy hooker in his net and someone glitterbombed the whole mess. She needs to stop with that hairstyle too.
And finally, Salma Hayek was there with her husband. Salma probably wore the best dress of the event – hers is Alexander McQueen. Very pretty.

Well, I don’t know what jeweler told you that, but the more brilliant the color, the rarer they are. I own a gem quality sapphire and it’s a brilliant blue…when it’s cleaned, which is rare…see how I did that?!
Yeah, the really cheap sapphires are dark navy. I have a ring with a ceylon sapphire- beautiful cornflower blue.
I think the jeweler was probably talking about color saturation in the stone which is not the same as darkness (I could get into a whole gemology lecture on how to determine quality of colored stones but I will spare you all.) Also, a Rubillite is not a form of Ruby but is a type of Tourmaline and that stone is a lovely example. Similarly Morganite will never get that deeply colored, it usually stays on the pale pink scale.

I don’t know about that. The suit looks nice and is certainly well cut for her figure, but my first thought when I scrolled through the pictures was: “hairy chest.” The lace is so thin and frothy that it looks like chest hair to me.
I didn’t say either looked good but that suit fits Kris better and her outfit looks more appropriate for the event. So I thought she looked more put together lol. Why she would want to squash her tits and give the illusion of a hairy chest is beyond me. As for Kimmykakes…well…thereis hardly a redeemable aspect of her outfit.

Rihanna is probably a B cup, but when she wears a push up bra it gives the illusion of her having insanely large breasts. She’s not flat, but not very busty either. I think she is just sporting a tight bustier and push up in these photos.
B cup is generous. Maybe when she was a bit heavier she was a B, but nowadays she looks smaller than that to me. She rocks her small chest regardless.

How can someone with so much money, who is only famous for the way she looks, who has her own fashion line, CONSISTENTLY dress terribly? I have never seen Kim in ANYTHING good, EVER. Rubellite is red tourmaline. It is not a variation on a ruby. “Ruber” means “reddish” in Latin.
While tourmalines are less rare and therefore less expensive than rubies, large clear ones with excellent color are quite rare and expensive.

You know you look completely awful when your 59 year old mother outshines you in every way. Oh where to start with the ugly…makeup is way too dark, hair is pulled back like she is a waitress and all that is missing is a hair net, the dress or whatever it is looks absolutely cheap and just makes her look so much more squat next to anyone who has some height. Kim looks…terrible, trashy, and sad. She needs more color on her lips (a great red would be perfect with all that black) and less severe hair. Like Kim I’m short with an hourglass shape and big hips and I would never wear anything like that! The length is unflattering and makes her look even shorter, the middle part makes her waist look bigger than it is, and the boobs are just too much. She’s drowning in that huge jacket. I just feel bad for her….even Kanye doesn’t seem to want to be around her any more. I just got married a month ago and I can’t imagine going weeks on end without seeing my husband.

The necklace Rihanna is wearing was featured on an episode of Project Runway where the contestants had to select a peice of Chopard jewelry and then design a dress to suit. The dress designed to go with this necklace was a bit of a disaster. Zac Posen was a judge. He must have been desperate to do the necklace justice so designed this dress instead.
