It feels like it’s been forever since we’ve had photos of Angelina Jolie on a red carpet. Think about it – it has been a long time. She had to miss her own premiere (the LA premiere of Unbroken) because of chicken pox. She didn’t go to the Globes or any of the smaller critics’ awards. We haven’t seen her on a red carpet since she was in Australia, premiering Unbroken. So here are photos of Angelina Jolie on last night’s carpet for the Critics Choice.
Fierce. Fabulous. Gorgeous. Love it!!! Waving my loonie flag right here. Her silvery dress is Versace, and as someone observed on Twitter last night, she looked like a Hersey’s Kiss. Angelina + chocolate? YES. Call me crazy, but doesn’t it also look like she’s put on a little bit of (much-needed) weight? She looks healthier now than she has in the past several months. Her hair is also darker now – I’m not sure why, if there’s some epic reason or she just felt like going darker. All in all, a great outing for her. The best we’ve seen from her in a while.
This was maybe the only event where Angelina and Jennifer Aniston were both nominated this year. From what I saw, they didn’t interact at all. Angelina seems to have come alone – was she sitting with the Selma table? – but there are photos of her interacting with other people and talking selfies with critics throughout the night. She chatted with Garrett Hedlund, Miyavi, Ethan Hawke, Reese Witherspoon (the enemy of my enemy is my friend, eh?), Eddie Redmayne (he played her son in The Good Shepherd) and David Oyelowo. Of course she lost the Best Director gong to Richard Linklater. I don’t really think she believed she was going to win anything.

Not digging the color, it just isn’t working with her skin tone.
I’m not digging her hair… and I don’t know, just not digging it generally. But it might be the light; something is not working.
Agree…I’m trying to like it, but something feels off, and it’s in the coloring between the new hair and the dress. And I like the dress — sort of. I feel like the fit or the design of the bodice and sleeves isn’t working.
The other thing I noticed when I watched a few minutes of the show last night is that Angelina seemed really ‘toxed, especially her forehead — it ain’t moving right now. She’s so beautiful she really doesn’t need it, and I never get the big dose of botox to the forehead. People just end up with a big, shiny unmoving forehead; it doesn’t make them look younger.
I can’t pinpoint it either, but it looks off. The hair color/skin tone/dress color combo?
Her makeup isn’t helping anything, either. She’s way too shiny and has way too much under-eye highlighter on.
If her hair had been up, showcasing her lovely face, if the bodice had been better fitted at the top, and if the gown had been sleeveless instead of having those hideous bell-sleeves, I think this would have been her best look in a long time. Unfortunately, it just ends up looking kind of sloppy. I hate to see a near-miss like this, because it was so close to being wonderful.
I think the hairstylist got angeloonie starstruck and messed up the hair. It should have been up and away or a Veronica Lake side part w waves.

No she was sitting at her own table ..beside her actors from her movie, where would you get that she sat at the Selma table??
Especially when they camera went to her it was obvious who she was sitting next to and it wasn’t anyone from the movie Selma.
And I thought she looked awful, the hair too dark and one tone, the close up on her face , way to much make up and something about her eyes , fake lashes were too much and her under eyes were swollen or something… And the dress was 80’s styles, not in a good way.

I love the new hair color but not the dress. Maybe it’s just the pictures but it seems like tarnished silver and not nice silver-silver. Aside from that, I think she looks great.

Please forgive me, but I cannot deal with the ‘sleeves’ on this dress—-ugggg. Why I hate this kind of sleeve on anyone, I do not know, except that I just do. They are NOT flattering, and they look matronly for some reason. They remind me of the old Hollywood dress styles maybe? If the same dress had fitted sleeves or no sleeves, it would pass. About the hair color–nope again. She looks better in a slightly lighter shade. Her arms are still so very thin. She must eat very little.

Yes I think her complexion looks very pastey in that color. Not my favorite, although she is beautiful as always. I think the design of the dress gives an illusion of (needed) added weight. I’m not sure that she has actually gained weight, because her arms look so thin.

Why does no one mention the fresh filler that hasn’t settled in her face , it looks like she got jacked up cheeks ( why Kasier thinks she gained weight) that they’re pulling down a bit that her under eye looks odd or the Botox that makes her forehead so shinny .
I think she looks horrible. The fabric looks cheap, the colour is bad, the cut too. Her hair is also a bit too dark, amd why is her face always so shiny?

I agree it’s either padding or really clever draping to give her a more hourglass look. She’s still beautiful and the people who want to scream about skinny shaming can yell at me all day. This is 15 lbs lighter than her most natural healthy weight she’s been since being famous.

She was pretty freaking famous 10 years ago when she got with Pitt and she didn’t look like THIS. She was never ever curvy contrary to what some people claim but she ony got scary skinny after 2005/6 or so.
I agree with Joy. Someone always wants to argue that AJ is naturally thin, has naturally skinny arms, blah, blah, blah. This isn’t snark. She is most definitely thinner than she used to be. And the reason I know this? Because my hubby is in loooove with her lol. And whenever he has seen her in recent years, he comments that she looks so much better with an extra 15-20 lbs. So it’s not just catty, jealous women noticing. Guys that think she’s hot notice too 😉

I can’t unsee the fillers, but she is so beautiful it makes me want to get fillers…done by her doctor as I’ve seen too many fillers that look unnatural. I’m close to her age and like her, I’m skinnier than I was 10 years ago. As Catherine Deneuve once said, being skinny does no favors for one’s face.
Dreamy. I think she looks better with this hair color (not that anyone’s asking…) the lighter shades of brown tend to wash her out somehow – make her look more tired. The dark hair adds to the overall vibrancy in this look and I’m loving it.
Agree about her hair. Love everything about the dress — I am a sucker for metallics — except the sleeves. Too long and droopy, imo. A little cap sleeve would have been amazing.

I thought it looked dated. It just looks like a cheap knockoff gown. She looks beautiful, as always, though, and is one of the few women, because of her beauty and confidence and poise, that makes me forget she’s in something I don’t like.

I think she dressed for the period of the film; anyway she looks so sexy to me. I like it.. And I love her hair darker. The soft curls are just very carefree. She knows how to pose on a RC. And no matter what she is wearing she highlights it. She knows how to stand and position her body.
Everyone swarmed her table. So many people were trying to get selfies with her. So nice to see her there. I wish Brad was there.. but I remember she wasn’t at the CCA when he was nominated for Moneyball.. They do go to events separately.. I don’t know what people think is going to happen when she and Aniston are in room together.. Just like at the Oscars those many years ago.. NOTHING HAPPENED.

I think she has gained a little weight! Her face looks a little fuller to me (does NOT look like fillers, you can tell fillers a mile away). As for her arms, I know I can gain weight everywhere and I STILL have skinny arms. Just the way I’m made. Maybe Angie’s is like that, too. I think her hair is gorgeous. She looks so glamerous!

And her HAIR. OMFG. I think she got it cut, waved, and darkened, because it looks fabulous. And yes, she does look like she gained weight….she looks very happy. I always love how her true smile kind of exaggerates her already exaggerated features–it’s not this perfect, prim little smile. You can tell when she gets REALLY excited. You guys! This dress is not good at all! There’s a reason Kaiser think she gained weight and it’s not because she did. Hint: it’s the awful dress. For starters those sleeves do not belong on the dress. They add volume where it’s not needed and make Angelina look broad across the beam. Secondly, the bodice isn’t cut correctly because that loose drape is doing Angelina no favors.
There’s the germ of a good dress here (the waist area is nice) but Donatella Versace needs to go back and start over because this is a bad look.

Thats a lovely dress. As I said in the “other” thread, all bodies are lovely. Angelina can be as bony as she likes and the other party should be able to flash her gravity afflicted boobs every now and then without body shaming brigades.

The back of the dress (not pictured) is beautiful! I dislike the flutter sleeves. Overall i think the dress flatters her body, but her arms are still tiny so i don’t think much weight gain is happening. Her custom Versace lately has been hit or miss.

The dress is very her and she looks beautiful but I find her looks so dang exhausting. This dress is for an older woman, not someone in her 30’s or 40’s. She always wears such mature styles and I would love to see her mix it up a bit. Her best looks are her black suits and tuxedos b/c they are so much more youthful. Plus Angelina never has to say who she is wearing because the designers immediately put it on Twitter that Angelina is wearing their design.

She does look like she gained weight, I noticed at the other event where she was wearing a suit, her face looks more like her father’s shape when she gains weight. The deep hair color looks fantastic on her- it makes her look younger (than those bad highlights she had previously). It really makes her skin look wonderful. Make-up is always lovely.
As for the dress, I’m pretty meh. It’s a step up from the bland neutrals she typically gravitates toward. I don’t really like the capelet sleeves, but the poor woman has received so much flack about her thin arms that I’m not surprised by the choice.
Phhft. ‘Poor woman?’ Yeah ok hon. a Google search will tell you Jolie never hides her arms. She was in tanks showing them off all summer on set — she’s always not given a f. But I get a lot of fans of the neurotic one want her to be as self conscious as J-anus, so when she isn’t — they’ll talk an issue to death in the hopes she becomes the person they know their coddled idol to be, and start slinking around and drinking liquid courage. It’s not going to happen. Which I guess will eventually only enrage you further.
I like the dress style and her hair. She always looks gorgeous to me. Just not a fan of the dress color. I would really love to see her in some bright colors for a change of pace.
She looks divine! I love this dress. It’s glam but looks comfortable, and I would totally wear it. Her darker hair looks fab, as well. I’ve always thought she looks better with darker hair. It really brings out the creaminess of her complexion.

They look good together. You can tell that Ethan REALLY likes her. They have a comfortable easy going vibe.
I would love for her to start attending more events by herself. She seems more relaxed. I must say I found the pics of her full on hugging American Citizen on American Soil Reece Witherspoon, quite lovely. The fact that she was sitting next to Universal head Donna Langley was just icing on the cake. My only quibble is I would like for her to cut down on the Botox. She is veering in to Nicole Kidman territory there.
Hate the sleeves, she looks great otherwise. I would still like to see a weight gain of 15 lbs, I really think it would fill out her arms. Her hair is beautiful and I am happy to see her not fall victim to that greased down hair look I am seeing on so many starlets this season.

Not crazy about this look. The color is gorgeous and with her pale skin it looks lovely on her. The body is draped exquisitely. But the sleeves make it look top-heavy and throw it all out of proportion. It should have had long narrow sleeves or no sleeves at all.
Also, I think she looks great in bright red lipstick.
It’s a refreshing dress! I like it and her hair colour is fine. When she gets it right, she is really the red carpet queen and queen of Hollywood!
That left side of her hair is bothering me. It’s like the above-the-ear part the stylist teased it too far out and stiff. I love that she cut her hair shorter and darkened it again, though. It’s in the third photo that you can really see it. Far away it’s not bad or certain angles. Maybe it’s just that photo. I don’t know. Other than that, I liked her hairstyle.

I love this dress so so much. She looks like a 1920’s starlet. It’s definitely makes her look curvaceous. This is a dress that I think would look good on most women. The stuff Christina Hendricks should try to wear, because she is usually styled so so badly, as much as I love her.

I don’t usually comment but I have to add my two cents. This woman is absolutely stunning and, excepting wild younger years , is always a class act. She just effortlessly exceeds the Gwynnies, Witherspoons, AND Anistons of our generation. Jessica Chastain is the only one I can think of that *sometimes* brings to mind old school glamour like AJ…maybe Charlize when she doesn’t have her complete bitchface on.
I love how she has blossomed from a young woman with deep emotions to a woman who is more than accomplished at her still young age, all the pictures of her socializing, great to see.
I admire that she is a doer.
I remember that Juliette Lewis said that Brad was attracted to women who had an “edge” or something like that. He really funked it up in the past (I blame the weed hahaha), but he really hit the center with AJ.
I think you are forgetting Cate Blanchett, who exudes old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet more often that not. Nicole Kidman has also done some beautiful old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet, regal.
@Jayna you are right. Jolie, Blanchett, and Kidman are three that can really bring Old Hollywood to life on the contemporary red carpet. All three sometimes wear gowns that are “misses” rather than “hits,” but when they get it right, it’s perfection.
I would love to see them in a film together, btw. I think that not only are all three gorgeous “models” for high couture fashion, they also are all amazing actresses. (Except that Kidman’s botoxing has seriously reduced her ability to emote.)
I can remember Patricia Arquette trying to bring the glamour in the past. She’s a beautiful and sexy woman and I can’t quite remember if she ever pulled it off completely but she did like her some glamour. So with the right stylist Arquette could do this as well.
The shoulders are a bit much.
I think the best thing about her is her total confidence.
She owned everything last night and didn’t need her plus one to lean on – knowing she was gliding into the lion’s den of press who were waiting with baited breath to see if she would run into…people….and if anything would happen.
She rocked it. Beautifully.

That might be the most beautiful dress I have seen in my entire life. Needless to say, I love it.
I guess I’m in the minority – the dress is hideous. It looks like she borrowed it from The Golden Girls’, Blanche Devereaux’s closet and the silver metallic material does nothing to bring life into her face.
I love her in this dress. It is so fabulous.
I love Angelina, but two things here are killing her otherwise beautiful look:
1. Her under eye concealer is too light, people have a tendency to think that going several shades lighter is beneficial, but not only does it not cut the darkness effectively, it washes you out. I would have chosen a deeper lipstick too.
2. Her sleeves. The dress would have been gorgeous if it were cap sleeves or even better, sleeveless.
Love it! Except for the first picture she looks like “Creeper Brunette Barbie” in that picture.
Soooooo gorgeous!!!! finally somebody who got it right last night. She was perfection.
Dislike everything about this outfit. The color that doesn’t go well with her skin tone, the bad tailoring that looks like padding, the sleeves that seem to have a life of their own, and make her arms look even thinner. The only thing I like is the fact that it isn’t black. But still it looks like she borrowed it from the Denver Clan set. The big hair also could be from that period. Yet she carries herself so well, that I’m willing to forgive her 😉

She looks like she’s in a costume. The dress looks cheap, like something from the community theater costume closet, and with the hair styled in period-appropriate waves, it’s just too much the same. She looks like she’s dressed in character. She always chooses gowns that are too obvious, there’s no subtlety in her red carpet style. Always so overdone, she never looks like a real person. Is she afraid of people seeing the real person underneath?
Also, and I know this is low because maybe she didn’t expect them to be so GIANT AND OBVIOUS, but those replacement bolt-ons… jesus christ. They’re all I can see.
She got them WAY too big for her frame, so she looks off no matter what she wears.

I really like the silhouette, but I think the metallic finish is what’s throwing me off. That combined with her very dark, curly hair. If the dress had a matte finish, and she went with straightened hair that was half up and behind her shoulders, the look would have been flawless.
Whoever did her makeup did a decent job. Her face looks good, but that dress with its billowing sleeves accentuates her toothpick arms.
She’s a beautiful woman but honestly she looks awful here. Overly botoxed and the dress looks like some old lady’s dressing gown. I could go on but I’ll leave it at that.

Angelina is a goddess. I am not crazy about the dress because i don’t like satin, but she’s SO beautiful that she can wear anything. I think lighter hair suit her more but i also like her with dark black hair because they give me old school-bad girl Angelina vibes.

I think she did gain a smidge of weight because her face reminds me of the glow she had wearing that beautiful emerald dress I think at the Oscars when she was pregnant.

GORGEOUS! Many people say was the BEST DRESSED of the night.
first time in a long time I haven’t been floored with her appearance and I’ve also rarely been a fan of her fashion. This look is just too much of everything, imo, and darker hair is slightly aging her, but I like that she’s playing at least with those colors. Dress is maybe a tad bit too much for this type of event and knowing you’re just there to support your movie, but hey, girl wanted to dress up, so ok. Someone mentioned possible cheek implants that have not settled, if nohing she clearly has some maintenance going on, because just compare her skin tightness and texture with for instance Emily Blunt’s who is 8 years younger. I mean, she was pretty before but she did have her gorgeousness subtly sculpted somewhere along the way and that terrific work should be all she ever does before it becomes too obvious and turns her praised beauty into joke.

The picture her with Eddie Redmayne is so adorable-both appear to be engaged in a happy conversation probably about being newlyweds as he seems to be playing with his ring finger. Angelina has looked like she gained weight since her illness. Her face looks like it did when she was pregnant and the rest of her looks a bit heavier – not just at the CCAs.
We can pick outfits apart eg sleeves etc but the reality is that not every event gets a custom made dress. Sometimes they pick the best of what they are sent or they fall in love with a feature of the dress like the draping or the material or how well it fits a certain body area. You can rarely tell what material is really like from still photographs – you can tell a bit more from video but often the real beauty of a fabric can only be appreciated in person.

i dont know about Hershey’s Kisses realness, but the sleeves should have been fitted rather than flouncy and the padding around the hips and butt should be removed.
