Johnny Depp brought Mortdecai home for the LA premiere last night. Kaiser already covered Goop and Olivia Munn, so here are the guys. This poor movie wants to be put out of its misery, and this is the home stretch. I feel bad for Johnny in these photos. (Not because he’s pushing a turkey. That’s his fault.) Everyone is wondering why Amber Heard didn’t show up. She made it to London but was MIA on home turf.
Johnny pared down his red carpet costume for the event. He’s still wearing at least six mini-scarves or necklaces plus jeans and scuffed boots. So much effort to look so effortless. Johnny gave a junket interview where a journo asked how he and Amber celebrated one year of engagement. He responded, “I don’t know.”
Does Ewan McGregor ever age? Not many men could work a bow tie with a leather jacket.
Would you care for some Paul Bettany? He’s so polished and sophisticated. I’m including photos of Lori Laughlin and Amanda de Cadenet. Lori looks cool, and Amanda’s dress makes me itchy.

I’ll be watching ‘Chocolat’, sobbing and eating chocolate. What happened to this man?! Even just five years ago he gave me girly giggles, he was my fantasy husband and now… Wow. It seems like it happened so suddenly too.
At least he lost the blue glasses. A huge improvement. Also, I don’t care for the mini-beard, but it’s a good strategy for camouflaging (somewhat) his triple chins.
Johnny is totally wearing bronzer or make up…look at his hands, then his face. White hands golden face, that is the weirdest part of it, it he does not care (which is what we are meant to think) then why the make up routine? He is heading to Travolta territory.
Everyone wears makeup to the red carpets. Whether they care or not. Johnny is not heading to anyone’s territory.

Like he had an old tux in his closet but the jacket was a little wrinkled so he grabbed the other black jacket hanging in his closet and it just happened to be leather. I never liked Ewan until I started watching Beginners on repeat (Netflix). Now I see it.

ummm, NO. The trailer alone had me cringing in pain when it ran as a preview to the movie i saw a few weeks ago.
Ewan is lovely, Johnny, oh, Johnny… Amber has dumped him and his accessories. I hope she at least left him his QVC jewelry over-the-door armoires.

Does the pewter chain with the occult eyeball charm look good with the ragged blue scarf with the grease stains? Maybe I should add that rawhide string with the sun-ra bead. And the distressed chartreuse scarf with the frazzled tassels – it’s 9 feet long but if I wrap it around my neck 6 times and place the tassels in the front it would look really cool, but it might hide the sun-ra bead…Amber, could you lay out a few more lines, baby? I think this is going to take a while….

I actually think Johnny looks good w/the extra weight. He doesn’t look bloated in the face to me, so hopefully it ain’t alcohol….. But he’s standing so awkwardly, and he’s dressing like a guy who’s gained weight i.e. he looks like he’s trying to squeeze into the same clothes. My dad did the same thing. He was a workout/fitness freak for YEARS…..and then as soon as he started working in his chosen field (after his degree), he gained a lot of weight in his stomach like Johnny…but was still trying to wear the same clothes, lol.
Paul Bettany looks FINE. I almost hate Jennifer Connolly because she’s married to him, lol. And I love the story of how they got together–it seems SO unHollywood.
I don’t think the extra weight looks good at all, it never does on such a small man. He’s dressing the way he always did, but his style fits a younger skinnier man.

There’s a great review in The Wrap, and this is how they describe his performance: Sporting gap teeth and plummy what-ho accent, the actor takes another opportunity to busy himself with props and silly voices rather than bothering to give a performance.
It’s sad that some say he is not “acting” or giving a performance just because he does voices and wear makeup. What he does is really not that easy. Oh well at least Forbes gave the movie/his performance a positive review.
Yes, and Forbes is the only site that did give the movie a positive review. It currently stands at 11% on Rotten Tomatoes. The crap churned out by Global Asylum gets higher rankings than that.
I agree with The Wrap’s assessment. He desperately needs to pick a role where he’s just a normal person (no pirates, no scissorhands, no eccentric mustaches). Just a dude in khakis and a buttoned down shirt. Hair washed. Johnny, let us see your face. Let’s hear your real voice-the one you had during 21 Jump Street, not this Scottish drawl you’ve been doing. Stop hiding.
The Paris Review described it as a film “in which Johnny Depp once again pretends he is a character actor” (paraphrased)
Hollywood keep paying Depp a huge paycheck for “phoning in” performances in films that continuously flop (i.e. Mortdecai a third straight flop for Depp in a starring role, after 2014’s Transcendence, which cost $100 million and made $23 million domestic , and 2013’s The Lone Ranger, which cost $250 million-plus and grossed just $89 million domestic).
Guys can have five mega-flops like Johnny Depp in a row and they still pay him eight-figure! So unfair.
Welp. Then maybe he should just stop making movies. Maybe take that Pirates money and sail off into the sunset. Why continue with this? Perhaps he should be a producer solely. Or perhaps start a scarf and jewelry company..I dunno. It’s just not working anymore and God knows he doesn’t need the money.
Well I am going to this movie tomorrow and have high hopes! I am a Depp fan and have only really hated a few of his films.

The guy seems so self absorbed and he tries so hard to be cool…Unlike Mac Gregor or Paul Bettany ! I read some of his interviews and he is not smart either, he often criticizes Hollywood (and the people in it) but uses the system to make money . I wish he could use his money/time helping others in need!

As usual, Depp is gross. I wasn’t one for him when he was young, either, but at this point he looks like he smells. He needs to take his health in hand.

Also it’s rumored he’s with medication for his alcohol withdrawal, hence the tiredness and the weight gain.
And the non-story about Amber. Maybe she’s working in London? because she wasn’t in the Berlin premiere either. Sadly, because he looked much more at ease with her in the premiere. Or maybe she didn’t want to go, she never went to any other premiere and Johnny went last night only to pose for photographers with his cast mates and to sign autographs
And the question about his year anniversary of engagement. Was a quite stupid question to try to make it him talk about his engagement. Of course he wouldn’t respond even if they celebrated – which couple celebrates engagement anniversary, by the way?

First, I love Ewan McGragor. Second, Johnny is looking super tired (or drunk) and with some extra-weight recently.. I think he still can be saved and return to his old glory, he just need a little polish.
I think Amber’s in London working on her next movie already. That’s why Johnny’s plane did scale in London before heading to Berlin, to leave her there and the next day she make it to the London premiere. I’ve seen pictures of Johnny heading and leaving the Chateau Marmont after the premiere and he goes with one of his old musician friends not Amber. And surely she would have been at dinner if she were there as always after his premieres and because they pretty much look like joined by the hip recently
but from what I read the film will be shot in Denmark not in london. And since they were born not stuck together.

Johnny told to extra tv in the premiere that Amber was unfortunately working, so i think it’s true she’s in London working on her movie
