A surprisingly big fashion event was held in LA last night: the Louis Vuitton Series 2 Exhibition. And it was shockingly well-attended. I’m starting with the most badass of all the attendees, Catherine Deneuve, Nicolas Ghesquiere and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Nicolas Ghesquiere is the chief designer for LV these days, and I’m not sure what to think of his tenure. I thought he was more suited to Balenciaga, but he’s brought his taste for detailed-construction to LV, to mixed results. Anyway, all of the people in these photos are wearing LV. For better or for worse. Deneuve looks fantastic and like she ran out of f—ks many years ago. Charlotte… eh. I know we’re supposed to think that she’s the incredible style icon (and she’s Ghesquiere’s muse) but I’m not feeling her ensemble.
More photos… Rosamond Pike in a minidress. Hm. She hasn’t been loyal to any one label during the awards season and now I’m wondering if she’ll wear LV to the Oscars. I think that might be a mistake, Rosamund!
Riley Keough, who just got married on Wednesday! Shortest honeymoon ever! I like the dress and I dislike the booties.
Dianna Agron. Is this mismatched style on purpose? Is this a dress or separates?
Emilia Clarke… I’m not sure, honey. This isn’t your look. The eye makeup makes you look squinty and the orange-red isn’t your color. You look like a dominatrix working at McDonalds.
Jennifer Connelly is probably my least favorite look of the event. She looks like she’s wearing an old housecoat!
Alexa Chung needs some makeup, right? I usually like the “undone” look on a red carpet, but she needs some lipstick or something.
Many of you have asked for more Gugu Mbatha Raw. Here’s a good beginning! She looks really pretty here. Once again though, I think the reds are too orangey.
Here’s Michelle Williams. We haven’t seen her on a red carpet in a while, it feels like. I was surprised to see her hair is so grown out. I think she needs to go a tad darker on the blonde though – this white-blonde does her no favors.

My thought also. Bad knees + ankle straps/booties + hemline at the wrong spot = fugly
Yeah, why are most if them wearing double ankle strap shoes? No matter how delicate your ankles, double straps give everyone cankles.
Rosamond Pike looks all kinds of wow!!! I like it (specially in comparison with the others).
I think Michelle Williams’ dress is also really good. I would buy it if I could afford it 🙂
And Jennifer Connelly is always perfect…so I actually think she makes that combination work.
Unfortunately the same can’t be said for Emilia…that was really an unfortunate choice and McDonalds dominatrix couldn’t describe it better.

Michelle Williams and Emilia Clarke are wearing the same shoes. I guess at least they’re different colors. But they’re not flattering to either woman – I will never understand shoes with high ankle straps, I can’t imagine it flatters anyone.
Juno Temple, not pictured here, was also wearing them. They’re probably a major item in the collection!?
This makes me feel glad I don’t wear LV. Sorry, but all outfits are horrendous, and the combination of above the knee skirt with booties or the fugly two strap high sandals is making everyone’s legs look stumpy. Even Deneuve, who is normally great, looks like a sparkly sausage in that outfit, and ugh, the footwear. Does anybody own a mirror anymore? And whoever is styling their hair and make-up… I understand they are going for edgy / glam rock or something but they all look unhappy.
Jennifer and Dianna both have such lovely faces, and wear such odd fashion.
Rosamund is stunning but that pose she always does has got to go. It is unflattering. I’m sure someone in her team suggested it and it is on purpose but to me it looks like she’s trying to do what Riley is doing (front leg straight, legs crossed) but getting it wrong.
Gugu is by far the best – what a pretty young lady! (although I don’t care for her shoes either – all the shoes are awful, but hers a the least awful) She is also the only one who doesn’t look like she need stockings of some sort (which I realize cannot be worn with those horrid ankle strap, toe strap shoes – another reason to ditch them!)
Ankle straps are a leg disaster. You have to have amazing legs to not look stumpy in straps. And sometimes, even then…
