A little over a week ago, news came out that Nicole Scherzinger and Formula One racecar driver Lewis Hamilton had split after a rocky on-off romance spanning over seven years. If Star is to be believed, Nicole isn’t letting any grass grow under her feet. The tabloid claims that she’s been “hanging out” with also-single Nick Cannon, who is in the process of divorcing Mariah Carey. This new romance is said to anger Carey, who has “always hated Nicole.”
Nicole [Scherzinger], 36, has been secretly hanging out with Nick Cannon, 34, and sources say his ex-wife, Mariah Carey, is having none of it. “She’s always hated Nicole,” a source tells Star, who adds the former Pussycat Dolls singer had a brief fling with Nick before he wed Mariah in 2008. “She’s very possessive and still thinks of him as her property.” But despite the 44 year-old singer’s protests, Nick is going ahead with the romance. “He’s really been there for Nicole during her breakup.”

Star goes on to say that Nick and Nicole (that has a cute ring to it) have to be apart for now because Nicole is currently in Cats in London (that show is still playing live?) and he’s stateside. They are said to “constantly flirt via Skype.”
Fame-wise, these two are about at the same level so they make sense to me. Plus they look really cute together, don’t they? I would love to see them officially couple up, but this may fizzle out fast. Also, Mariah is surely still protective of Nick, but I bet she’ll hook up with some young dancer type and get over it. That’s the next step for her, although it will probably be hard for her to find a lover that’s as sycophantic as she requires. J.Lo and Madonna did it, but Mariah is beyond.

I don’t really know much about Mariah’s love life. I was surprised when she married Nick. I’d never heard much about her romantic life before that. Anyone know if she’s the type to always have a man around?
She’s always seemed to have very few men around her. The only boyfriends I can think of that she’s had are the ones she married. She seems to be the opposite of J-Lo and more of the marrying kind like Kate Winslet (though obviously with less marriages to her name).
The big romances in Mariah’s life were Tommy Motolla { the divorce from him is the inspiration for the ‘Honey’ video} That was almost from the moment she burst into the public arena at 18yrs old until her late 20s.
After the trauma of that [according to her], She was with Luis Miguel for about 3-4yrs. Not sure how that worked out except that when he left her, it contributed to her nervous breakdown.
I don’t think she’s one to flaunt her relationships/flings unless she thinks they are big loves. And usually because there is a marriage involved. She had a fling or possibly a one nighter with Eminem which *he* outed. And that’s almost as much as we know about her romantic life.

There was a ball player too, a Yankee I think? A Rod maybe. It really hasn’t been very many men considering how long she has been in the spotlight.
She is super under cover when it comes to her relationships so we don’t know everyone she’s dated, but I know that Mottola, Miguel, and Eminem are on the list, as was Derek Jeter. Nick Cannon was very unusual because that was the most public she’s been with a significant other – she and Miguel were super quiet in the years they were together but the end of that relationship just wrecked her – as LAK said, that was when Mariah had her infamous breakdown. Supposedly he cheated on her a lot and couldn’t handle being with a woman that was more successful than him.

Don’t forget the rumor that she had a fling with the female rapper Da Brat.
Mariah claimed she was practically a virgin when she married Mottola but her ex bf called BS on that. She said she doesn’t sleep around because her sister is a prostitute who contracted the HIV virus.
I’ve always loved Mariah–her love life hasn’t been the best, darn, and I was also surprised when she married Nick Cannon. I hope she doesn’t do something stupid and start dating a young dancer or much younger man. I would love it if Mariah found someone mature, more her age or older, who would love her kids as much as she does. Mariah isn’t as young anymore and her body has changed a lot, but she should just be “herself” and not try so hard to impress. She’s still got a great set of vocal chords and a long and successful musical career. There’s no reason in the world why she shouldn’t be happy, even with the divorce.
she was married to Tommy Mottolla (sp?) for a long time. he was prez of the record co. that signed her.
or, I should say, she was trapped by/under the thumb of Mottolla. she married him young and from what I remember, he was emotionally abusive (if not physically) and treated her terribly, I’m not her biggest fan but I was so glad when she was able to get away from him.
I was very happy for her when she divorced him too. Controlling SOB.
I recall that when she was dating Luis Miguel is when she lost her mind. She began doing the weird interviews and even a paparazzi session on a yacht at the end of their relationship. He was said to be very angry about that because he hates the press.
The problem with LM is that ALL of his exes end up with serious emotional issues, he treats them like they’re the only thing that matters in the world, then dumps them in a very cold matter. He did that with the mother of his children as well, it’s been years and the poor woman (an absolutely gorgeous actress) still hasn’t recovered.
Also, rumor has it Mariah was pregnant and LM didn’t want her to have the baby.

Seriously, she’s enchanting. I once read that 311’s “Amber” (one of my favorite “good vibez” songs) was written about her. I don’t know if it’s true, but it would be cool if it was. She has a face that could inspire many a tune, and I could see Amber being the color of her energy 😉

I have to say I’m pleased by this – maybe now they will finally move on from each other. They have broken up officially four – four! times over the past seven years. Sometimes you just have to admit when things aren’t working out. Rumor had it that she wanted to get married and start a family and he didn’t feel ready, but despite their differing priorities, they missed each other too much when they were separated. Nicole wasn’t much of a presence in the racing paddock and the few grid interviews she conducted were extremely vapid, but her personal support and affection for Lewis seemed sincere. He seemed to carry a lot of affection for her and appeared very down about his personal life during one of their longer breaks, but it seems the two couldn’t reconcile their differences.
I’ve got to give Lewis and Nicole credit for being one of the few couples in racing to both have careers of their own. The travel demands of the F1 circuit are intense, which means most wives devote their time to supporting their husbands and don’t have their own careers; this feels like such a retro arrangement when you have team bosses like Claire Williams and Monisha Kaltenborn on the grid holding positions of power in the sport, and racing power couple Toto Wolff (Mercedes team boss) and Susie Wolff (Williams test driver).
The marriage-kids issue has been coming up between her and Hamilton for years. He’s a lot younger and has a really demanding career, and at 36 she’s hitting the point where if she wants to have kids it has to happen now.
On the contrary after all that, I wanted them to finally make it down the aisle.
@ Livealot: I think if they had made it down the aisle, the pattern would just keep repeating, with periods of separation surrounding every milestone. They get married! Lewis is still gadding around at parties with girls. They separate. She gets pregnant; he feels resentment at the duties of fatherhood; they separate. He doesn’t want another baby; they separate. She is pissed off at his not being there for the family; they separate. And then reconcile. And so on.
I don’t think marriage has to be the end point of every relationship. Maybe they had passion and romance and affection for each other, and this was the great love of their lives, but your great, passionate love is not always the person who you want to wake up next to for the next 50 years, because passion can also be accompanied by tortured emotion and instability.

@ Livealot, I think you’re absolutely right! I’m not sure if Lewis is as crazy narcissistic as Justin though, nor does Nicole strike me as a beautiful yet irrelevant object of pity in the way that Jessica does. Maybe Justin and Jessica are what happens when one person (ahemJESSICAahem) sucks it up and lives their life in the shadow of their partner instead of calling it quits.

Mariah is as high maintenance as they come- and then some, if that’s possible. But she’s wealthy, successful and beautiful. It won’t be that difficult for her to find a man that will kiss her feet for eternity. Or for a couple years.
Finding a man is one thing–finding a loving partner is another. Mariah should take some time and live without having a man–is that so terrible? When the right person comes along, maybe she will recognize it. I want the best for her.
Doesn’t Nicole Scherzinger have a pretty decent life in London? Hasn’t she been over there for the last 5+ years, making good money. Maybe a judge on one of those singing shows? Or dancing shows? She has good hustle.
Oddly enough… Mariah never really had a public relationship till Nick. Even her marriage to Mottola was not very public. I don’t recall her every walking a red carpet with anyone but Tommy Mottola or Nick Cannon.
And there was a huge gap between those two marriages.
But to be honest… I suspect Nick Cannon is using this time to horn dog around…. while he still has the opportunity to. Before his profile drops him back down to C/D list territory.
She’s done okay, but nothing spectacular. Some reality show judging, some musical theater, but the solo music just didnt work out for her despite a couple of big pushes.

Whenever I see Nicole I have a weird remembrance that she was the inspiration for the 311 song “Amber” (she was engaged to the lead singer) and it just always shocks me. Also, I find her and nick weirdly cute together…

I don’t know why but I felt genuinely sad at her and Lewis Hamilton splitting up, for some reason I always wanted them to make it. Even though they broke up so many times, the fact that they always got back together made me like them.
I’d heard she wanted kids and he wasn’t ready. Personally I hope whatever she does works out for her, and that he realises what he’s missing, although with all the money and fame he has I don’t know if he will.
