This is Britt McHenry. She’s an ESPN reporter, although if you told me she moonlighted as a Fox News Blonde-Bot, I would believe you. She has that look, like she’s Megyn Kelly’s little sister or something. Anyway, Britt McHenry is in some hot water. She was having dinner in Arlington, Virginia and she apparently was parked in a tow-area. So her car got towed. So she had to go to the tow place to get her car, and she ended up berating the female tow truck operator or the woman who runs this particular tow place. That’s never happened to me – my car has never been towed. I can imagine it’s crazy, infuriating, and that I would bitch out anyone and anything as well. But I can’t say that I would go full-throttle DIVA like Britt McHenry.

My take, and I realize this won’t be a popular opinion: if you want to call this tow truck employee “shady” or yell about how your car should have never been towed, I think that’s fair game. Like, if you have a legitimate gripe, say it. Bitch about it. But Britt went WAY too far, talking about this woman’s weight (“Lose some weight, baby girl”), education (“So I could be a college dropout and do the same thing?”) and even pulling the don’t-you-know-who-I-am card (“I’m in the news, sweetheart, I will f–king sue this place”)
What ended up happening is that ESPN suspended Britt for a week. She also made a public apology on her Twitter:
In an intense and stressful moment, I allowed my emotions to get the best of me and said some insulting and regrettable things. As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road. I am so sorry for my actions and will learn from this mistake.
So messy, girl. But I have mixed feelings about ESPN suspending her. Seriously. She didn’t commit a CRIME, she was just a total bitch to someone and she got “caught”. She wasn’t even at work!

ETA: it is pretty sh!tty that she was suspended. Imagine if a male ESPN anchor got caught on video having a hissy fit. No one would bat an eye. The players they cover get caught doing far worse than that without consequences.

there is no excuse to yell at or demean and insult someone because you’re pissed that you broke the law and got caught.
there was a sign at the court payment desk in my muni court here…it said “I didn’t park the car, I wasn’t driving the car and I didn’t ticket the car so don’t yell at me about your ticket” or something like that.
That classism was seriously so infuriating. If I was the clerk it would have been so hard not to throw back a “for someone so goddamned educated you think you’d be able to read ‘no parking.'”
She deserved to get suspended for that kind of condescending, superior attack. Especially when she parked in a tow zone!
When you’re on the air making money it looks really nasty to go after a working person, especially if they’re just doing their job.
If she’d just been in a bad mood from being towed it might be overlooked, but she “punched down” and it reflects on ESPN.
“Intense and stressful” moment my ass. I have had my car towed. In Arlington, as a matter of fact. I forgot to put up my parking pass, so when I got up at 6am the next morning, my car was gone. My boyfriend drove me to Arlington to get my car, only to be told it was at a lot in Falls Church, so we drove to Falls Church, in rush hour, during which my dog threw up on me, and I still managed to be respectful to the people working at the lot, who were very kind and just doing their jobs. They even felt really bad for me. Might have been the dog vomit. I didn’t feel the need to swear, insult anyone, or throw my higher education in someone’s face. So all this really tells me is that this woman is just an entitled bitch.
Or until the tapes get leaked.

This situation kind of reminds of that scene in Fried Green Tomatoes when a young, hot blonde in a convertible comes along and takes the parking space that Kathy Bates’ was waiting for.
When she complains the young girl says something like – “Face it, we’re younger and faster!”
Then Kathy Bates crashes into their car and replies “Face it, I’m older and have more insurance”
Seems that the Tow-lady releasing the video is her way of crashing into McHenry’s car.

There’s been several recent cases of males on ESPN and other sports related companies getting suspended and fired recently so I don’t think her being a woman is an excuse.

Punishment here is justified. And it should be applied to men who also do this and far worse, but because that doesn’t always happen doesn’t mean we should let females who do this get away with lesser punishments.
Sadly, this apology only happened because she was caught on tape after announcing she’s on tv and better than the tow truck company worker.

I received my degree in journalism and my profs always stressed how important it is to be a respectful part of your news community, even when you’re off the clock. Maybe she should go back to J-school and learn these lessons she obviously fogot.
Actually you are wrong. ESPN is very fast to suspend their anchors. Just google it. And they don’t discriminate between males or females. Remember they are owned by Disney and don’t want bad press.
And to be fair ESPN doesn’t control player suspensions or fines that belongs to their relative associations and/or teams. And of course their ability to make money usually prevails.
I always said that if you want to know what a person is really like, watch how they treat the people who are powerless to hurt them back, when they think they can be a bitch and there will be no consequences. Britt McHenry showed her true colors in that video.
Whoever the tow truck company woman was, she was just doing her job which apparently isn’t a very nice job either, seeing how people treat her when they think no one is looking. No one likes to get towed. No one likes to pay the outrageous fees charged to get their car back. But this woman at the tow truck company is not out on the corner selling sex or drugs. She’s probably got a family to support and she’s doing what she has to do. And there is the matter of showing some class – Ms. McHenry showed none.
I doubt Britt will actually go and apologize to this woman in person – even though she insulted the woman in person.
Appreciate all the thoughts and insight on male vs. female anchors. Maybe I was too quick to come to that conclusion. I do think it’s ridiculous that the players they cover aren’t held to the same standards though.
I can’t remember his name but some black tv anchor got suspended for kind of justifying Ray Rice’s assault on his wife and then some white anchor guy defended him saying something like “In college my now wife (then girlfriend) was drunk and slapped me and I slapped her back, but we are now married so you can obviously work through issues and I think that’s what *insert black guy anchor’s name* was trying to say”” and he also got suspended and all the headlines said something like “white anchor guy admits to beating wife” when the truth was he slapped her right back after she slapped him. It was an immediate reaction, not really done for revenge.
I think that’s what both the black and white anchors were trying to say, and they were both from some sports network and I think it was ESPN.
So yeah they got suspended when I don’t think either should have.

To be fair, she brought up the fact that she’s on TV which makes her employers look bad.
The towing company edited the tape to their benefit. They kept it for 10 days before turning it in so they could work on it. Yes, she did say some things that were inappropriate but nothing near as bad as what it appears she said. To one comment what she actually said was, “I’m in the news, I know that there are lawsuits against you.” It is unlikely she will lose her job because the tape was tampered with.
She made it about her job when she pulled the “I’m in the news” card (for any reason).
I always question whether or not women and men are treated equally, and I am not at all convinced she got suspended because of her gender. It was unbecoming behavior of anybody, not unbecoming because it isn’t how a “lady” is supposed to behave.

I was thinking the same thing, Erinn. At my work it is stressed that your behaviour in your personal life CAN affect your job, because many people at my work are the “face” of the company. ESPN probably has the same policy.
They could have a morality clause. I wouldn’t want her representing my company after this was made public. What a jerk. She showed who she really is and who would want to watch her now? She is an idiot to be announcing that she’s on tv in the first place. I hate when people act superior to others and she was beyond cruel to the attendant.
If I owned a company that required people to be on air personalities, I would suspend her as well. This is true and I do think that towing companies are overzealous in this area (live here). I have had my car towed from my parking lot when it was displaying the proper tag (took pictures of this at the tow lot) and should not have been towed at all. I did plead my case to the attendant when paying the ridiculous fee to get my car back, but I didn’t abuse her. It was clear the person I was paying was not the one who towed the car and only handled the money…anyway, I did write a letter and got a refund but it is a very aggravating experience! Also, this Britt McHenry wasn’t bitching about how unfair it was that she was towed, she was deeply personal and a monstrous a-hole.

Yeah, it’s one thing to throw a tantrum over her car being towed, but the things she said to this woman were so twisted and hateful. She didn’t just lose her temper, she showed the entire world what an awful human being she is.
She took it to a very mean, degrading level (such as commenting on teeth, or lack thereof). Completely over the line, IMO. She apparently thinks her job and degree (plus looks) make her better.
She is told upfront there are cameras, yet she unleashes a very nasty, inciting rant, with some other woman (her friend, perhaps) giggling along.
That’s how I feel, if she wanted to bitch about being towed, fine. My SO used to work in customer service and the way some people talked to him was enraging. Even when I’m pissed, I almost always add “I know this isn’t YOUR fault, but I really want it known how frustrating this is.” That sort of thing. If she didn’t get personal, I bet nobody would’ve cared.
I think everyone should be required to work with the public for a few months, just to get a feel for it and hopefully be a little more measured when airing a grievance.

There have been male ESPN reporters suspended for comments and off air activities as well. Keith Olberman. Stephen A. Smith are 2 who come to mind immediately. Thinking back further (and not ESPN) we have Jimmy the Greek. Rush Limbaugh, Al Michaels (woof!). As for being mad at the tow truck operator, Kaiser, I’m shocked at you. The tow truck operator doesn’t decide what trucks to tow. She was parked – by her choice – in a tow away zone. The tow truck would have been called to tow the car. They don’t just go trolling up and down the street randomly towing people. Britt McHenry (I’m going to be judgy) looks to me like the bitchy head cheerleader. She was awful on that video. A week seems more than fair. Plus – she was stupid as the woman told her she was being recorded.
So what if she wasn’t on the job at the time? The “intense and stressful moment” would have been during the time her car was being towed. All she wanted to do was hurt someone just to get some pleasure from it.

Honestly. I have had my car towed twice, it’s an inconvenience certainly, but it is also my fault for it happening – take some responsibility.
My understanding is that she was in a restaurant, and towed from the restaurant’s parking lot. This particular tow truck company is known for being scammy. They’re predatory. We have some like this in my city and it’s complete bull what they do. How their actions are legal, I just don’t understand. They’re basically stealing their car from you, and making you pay ransom to get it back. It’s total crap!
So with that said, and reading that this tow company has been accused of these shady, predatory practices, I totally get her anger. I would be pissed too! She took it too far by making it personal to this lady. I don’t agree with that. I do understand the anger though.
Getting towed is THE WORST. I live in constant fear of it.
I do street parking in Boston and if you don’t follow the street cleaning schedule (which believe me, it is SO easy to forget) you get towed. In addition to the he hassle of getting your car back (which usually involves going to a very remote tow truck yard in a part of the city that is inaccessible by public trans), you also have to pay $150 (or more, depending) to get your car back AND you get slapped with a ticket for $40.
It’s such a f*cking racket.
That being said, I have never yelled at a tow truck dude. I blame the city for that ridiculous sh*t.
Exactly. Those of us who live in the area know this company, Advance Towing, well. They have scouts who get paid to call them and tow people who may or may not be legitimate customers of the business that owns the lot. No one checks to see if you actually are patronizing the business; your car is just gone when you get back. Then you’re treated to abuse (in my BF’s case, physical…he was jumped by the tow employees when he tried to walk to his car) when paying an exorbitant amount to get your car out of impound. There’s no discussion, no disputing their charges…just fork over 3 figures if you want your car back. And the tow truck commission in NoVa? Guess who sits on the board? Tow truck company owners.
You try keeping your cool when this happens to you. If you do, you’re a freakin’ saint.
@Kitten and NYer: Yep, total racket! In my area, the city has finally started investigating the tow companies. It’s awesome! In my view, this woman saw all the employees complicit in shady behavior and treated them like criminals, regardless of their status there. It’s not right, she should have taken the high road and called the police if she thought it was illegal behavior, but again, I understand the anger because these tow companies are total scum.

Anyone who will speak like that to someone for simply doing their job is someone who is like that all the time. Taking cheap shots at someone’s physicality and education (P.S. I think you’re right. the fact (as someone above said) that she wasn’t showing much anger, just the rude comments, tells me that she did this verbal abuse with a calm mind, like she’s used to talking to people like that. There was no raised voice, no flailing arms, etc…just a calm and methodical process of demeaning language.

I can understand the frustration. However, the personal attacks where totally unnecessary. She’s in a profession that makes her high profile, so even if you’re off the clock you still need to act properly. They say that when you’re stressed out you can show your true colors. I think I saw somewhere she had some issues in the past also. There are many things that I don’t like and on that list is treating people rudely and pulling out the ” don’t you know who I am?” I think it was fair for the suspension and maybe it will teach her a lesson.
I saw an article with some screen caps of past twitter convos involving her, and it looks like this kind of behavior is par for the course. She was rude and demeaning to plenty of people for simply disagreeing with her.
Also, hilarious that she thinks ESPN hired her because she is smart and has a college degree. More likely, it’s because she looks halfway decent with a fake tan and fake blonde hair.

Yep. I a female and I watch a good bit of ESPN and she really doesn’t ring a bell.
I am also a woman who watches a ton of ESPN and I don’t recognize this woman at all. I don’t watch alot of baseball tho, so maybe she’s a dugout reporter or something–a job that honestly does not take a lot of skill. ESPN actually has alot of female sportscasters, and personally the women on SportsCenter are infinitely more engaging IMO. Many of the men are interchangeable to me, but women like Hannah Storm and Lindsey Czarniak are knowledgeable but enjoyable to watch.
I have worked in customer service for a very long time (most recently as a librarian for the past 15yrs) and it never ceases to amaze me how awful people think they can treat people simply because we’re on the other side of a desk. I work with some of the kindest and most helpful and creative people you could ever meet, and some patrons have NO qualms about treating them horribly. I have been accused of lying, racism, had my appearance insulted, and threatened with violence for things as foolish as a few dollars in library fines or letting people know they’ve been charged for returning wet or moldy books. You come to recognize the people who are acting out because of a rough day, and the people who are just as*holes. Britt McHenry wasn’t just having a tough day–she’s just an as*hole who thinks it’s completely accessible to abuse people when she doesn’t get her way.

Ooooooh me too!!!! My stepson’s mom did that to me, she kept calling me “honey” in a really bitchy way (over some dumb crap my stepson did to cause a fight, she was mad when we proved he tricked her into coming over to fight with us), I was trying to calm her down and invited her inside to discuss calmly because she was making such a scene yelling at my husband in the driveway, but it only took about 3 “honeys” before I stopped her and let her know that she needed to address me by name and respectfully as I was doing to her otherwise she wouldn’t like my tone or the names I’d have to use to address her. I said this to her while taking several steps closer to her and in a very low voice, she started shaking & hightailed it outta there leaving her son behind!
My husband was so hard trying not to laugh but neither of us yelled. FYI stepson was inside, thank goodness.

It’s just that — perception. What happened to not judging a book by its cover? I guess we are most of us assuming that the lady at the receiving end of this ESPN maniac’s mouth was fat, ugly, uneducated, etc, but just didn’t deserve to be spoken to that way. Sure, I get that.
But looks are incredibly deceiving. The grubby-looking middle-aged guy who repairs my hot tub is actually a former first chair violinist with a famous European symphony orchestra & played and trained under a well-known conductor. He’d been in foreign action films & was highly HIGHLY educated. I would NEVER have guessed by his outward appearance! Now he chooses to be the repairman for his new wife’s business & is perfectly content. I picked his brain about his hometown & what he thinks of the States & he made me pull out my violin & play a bit (I’d never been so nervous!). He talked about judgmental American customers who immediately write him off, barking at him to wipe his feet or making digs about blue collar workers, etc. He laughs at the irony – the full life he’s already lead compared to how he’s perceived. It’s crazy what I would have missed out on if I had judged by appearances only.
She was acting like a total bitchy mean girl. Even in stressful situations a person can have some class and manners. That’s probably how she is in real life. She needs to be careful her future could change and she just as well may end up working for a tow truck company lol!

She very well should be suspended, I might even go as far as firing her. She wasn’t on the clock at espn, but she is a recognizable part if their organization AND she used her position as such to berate the employee. So yes, I think espn was right to do something. If she was a local news anchor I think the same would have happened. She is clearly arrogant enough to think she would get away with that because she looked right at the camera and continued to be abusive. She wasn’t just rude. Wonder how she treats her camera crew.
She would actually have a good case against ESPN if they did fire her. Stephen A Smith said that women were complicit in getting beaten and he was suspended, Mike Tirico has sexually harassed women and is still there, Keith Olbermann is always running his mouth and getting suspended, Colin Cowherd and Skip Bayless make racially questionable comments nearly every day, and Bill Simmons has insulted ESPN (his own employer) numerous times. None of them have been fired so if they fired McHenry she could (rightfully) sue asking why others who have done worse than her weren’t fired.
Getting your car towed is jarring, inconvenient, and expensive, but that in no way excuses McHenry’s actions. She went out of her way to demean and debase the woman simply doing her job as she is required to do. As Kaiser said, any customer of any business is of course totally within their rights to complain about specific issues, but the way McHenry assails this woman personally is absolutely disgusting and totally reprehensible. Even her “apology” is passive aggressive and shifts blame off her shoulders (‘As frustrated as I was, I should always choose to be respectful and take the high road.’ — Take the high road? The woman and the tow company did nothing wrong! Just pay your fine and leave like any normal person!)
Also, if I could speak to McHenry I would like to remind her that the “skill set” required for her job is essentially an ability to read and enunciate clearly, and to sit very still in the makeup chair. I bet millions of women would graciously and gratefully take over her position.
It would have been hilarious if the employee had feigned interest in this oh so important television job, and asked questions, such as:
– How much effort and cost went into your ‘looks’ (teeth, hair, etc.)?
– Describe the ‘interview’ process used for you to land your job.
Never doubt someone when they show you who they are. And she’s not pretty.
Love your job list requirements–but I’ll bet the top asset was her looks. ANYONE can read… would she have gotten the job if she had warts and a crooked nose but could enunciate clearly and had a great personality? I’ll bet not…

There seems to be an unfair trend of wrongful towing where she was, however, being ‘on tv’ as this dipsh*t puts it, she should know that acting like this, especially on camera, will not solve anything. Personal attacks do not do anything but prove you’re a cu*t and have no real argument, and I am sure that if ANYBODY had anything to say about her looks and their connection with her ‘abilities’, she would be on twitter ranting and raving about how hurtful peoples words can be … from behind her bright white, glossy veneers.
If she even really cared about the ‘corruption’ portion of this incident, she would have contacted the news and held her tongue to let the real authorities deal with it, if she did in fact feel she was targeted or towed unfairly.

Maybe she made a mistake in parking and doesn’t have the ability to be humble enough to take that hit. She was acting like the car got repossessed instead of towed. She got suspended because the video went viral and as an employee she represents ESPN. If she worked for any other company and tweeted or posted something inappropriate on facebook she would have been suspended or fired for that too.
So I parked my car at a meter and went to meeting. When I came back six minutes late my car had already been towed. There were messages on the meters that read you have an hour and only an hour and all cars will be towed. I was at a University where parking is at a premium. It cost me three hundred dollars to get my car back and because I was the only one who wasn’t causing a scene I got my car back in about ten minutes after showing proof of insurance and paying my bill. Everyone one else was steaming mad who went before me. Sometimes you just have to shut up and pay the piper when you do something wrong. And treat the workers with respect and courtesy. Let me tell you I learned my lesson.
You acted like a responsible, reasonable person. At no point in the video did I hear her claim she was not illegally parked. She gripes about the company taking money from people, which is hilarious given she is otherwise spouting about her superior education and job.

I manage an office and parking for our company. Random people STILL park on our marked spots despite the signs that warn them about getting towed. And I WILL tow someone who ignores the warning and continues to park day after day.
You must not live in the DC area. Yes it happens more than you think. You have to pay to release your car and then file a claim to get your money back. I have never had it happen to me, but I know of a lot of people who it has happened to, and they were parked legally.
What else do you think is supposed to happen when your car gets towed? You expect them to bring it back to you with a bow on top of it?
Of course, you have to pay a fine and go get the car someplace at the end of the Earth! That’s the point of it – to make you stop parking where you aren’t supposed to.

People may bash me here, but after looking into this I think I am having some sympathy for Britt McHenry. Her remarks are deplorable, but apparently this was edited with the attendants remarks mostly removed from the conversation. In addition the tow company which has a terrible reputation even with the police department in the area for towing cars that shouldn’t be towed is only answering questions via email from selected media outlets. Just out of curiosity why edit it and then release it? She would have still sounded bad without the editing, and certainly stupid for saying those comments knowing there was video. The tow company could also have a serious civil problem if she can’t PR her way out of this. If they illegally towed her car, which apparently she can prove, and then they release this video editing it to make her look worse than she would have they will have damaged her career. Sorry two wrongs don’t make a right.
They didn’t illegally tow her car. It’s known where she parked and Arlington has a lot of available parking. She parked someplace that was a strict tow zone. The tow company comes through either due to a call by the other customers and or/ owners of the businesses nearby and they tow. The police in VA could give two craps about someone getting towed and they have nothing to do with cars getting towed and definitely wouldn’t be speaking about how one company is illegally towing cars.
Okay I live here and have lived here for decades. This particular tow company Advanced Towing has various contracts with businesses around and gets paid on each tow, they are known for illegally or aggressive towing, generally towing too early based on signs. Yes Arlington Police cares about them because they have tried to tow cars with dogs in them and even kids in the car. . Don’t believe me google them or read the Washington Post, or better yet the BBB, there are a ton of complaints, and even a few police reports.
This doesn’t mitigate what she said to a clerk, but I think they have more than a bit of skin in this, and I wonder why they edited the video. They admitted to NBC news that it was edited.
Personally, I am not a Britt McHenry fan it bothers me that sports networks think they can hire these pretty blonde girls to hang out in the locker room and be “sports reporters.” I have only seen her a few times on ESPN and on WJLA and she was mediocre at best. Some of the women on ESPN are great, but some are just eye candy and they bother me as I think they kind of diminish the hard road the others have to take. Still I think there is more to this story than meets the eye.
@noway– isn’t leaving kids and dogs in a car illegal in this area? It certainly is here. BBB reports tend to be very dramatic, so take them with a grain of salt. I work with a woman who loves to create them for every perceived slight. Anyone can do so, without any ramifications. The BBB itself has been accused of being shady, so I’m not sure if they’re reliable anyway.
Another point– I read on another site that she had left her car at the restaurant, and went back to collect it two hours after close. Sounds like if that is true, her car should have been towed. Regardless, the woman behind the counter did not tow the car, so being a jerk to her accomplishes nothing but making McHenry look like a mean spirited bully.
Not cool but I would only justify her venom if the worker was nasty first. I’ve envountered horrible customer service before and folks get upset when you lower yourself and beat them at their own game.
I wouldn’t. You deal with bad customer service by going above the person’s head, and getting your own emotions in check. Resorting to base name-calling just proves that you are not smart enough or saavy enough to deal with a frustrating situation. Folks who are going to melt down, go straight to petty and vile, and think they are better than everyone else do not belong on tv (unless they are in one of those vile reality shows where people are paid to be their worst possible selves).

It is frustrating to get your car towed & have to go retrieve it but the front desk lady didn’t do it and if you feel like you have a legit grievance, use that thing between your ears called a brain and take it up with the proper person (the owner, your attorney, etc). What are you hoping to accomplish with demeaning the innocent front desk person? Do you think she’s going to begin bowing before you and give you your car back free after you’ve personally insulted her? And HTF do you know she doesn’t have a degree? My friend has a biz degree and she now works in her husbands tow company as the accountant to be able to spend more time with him (he’s also a firefighter and works 2 to 3 day shifts) & their cute doggy, who is practically the company mascot. She sometimes fills in at the front desk too, but she’s so happy & awesome that she would have probably just laughed and not even corrected this dumb bitch.

I’m with you. Sure, she’s probably a major CU Next Tuesday BUT, having been victimized by these shady tow truck companies myself, I understand her rage. Also, she wasn’t at work and didn’t commit a crime although she made a big mistake telling them she was on TV. Ugh. Dumb.
I have made the mistake of getting towed exactly once and it was horrible. The tow place was in a dodgy neighborhood, and I am talking New Orleans dodgy, I was nervous as hell, I have been mugged before, the tow company was super creepy, charged a hundred bucks more than the sign said so I didn’t have enough cash and had to find another atm, just an awful experience. I felt like I was paying ransom on my own car.
I was still a whole lot nicer about it though, lol. At least blondie had a friend along, that response was next level uncalled for.
I think that ESPN had every right to not only suspend her, but fire her. She made ESPN look bad. The first rule of reporting is to not become the news. To me, it looks like ESPN hired her because of what she looked like, not because she was intelligent, professional, or has even a modicum of common sense. She’s arrogant and lacks empathy, not the right mix for a professional on ESPN. There are so many talented and serving people out there – I would can her in a heartbeat. I’m tired of people thinking that this type of behavior is normal, explainable, or readily forgivable. We really need to aim higher as a society.

From what I have read on other sites this particular company is notorious for illegally towing cars, seriously damaging cars, driving dangerously, towing cars with kids and dogs in them, etc. Also, the video was edited so everything that the lot attendant was saying back was edited out. So, I believe she probably had a right to be furious and was perhaps being insulted by the attendant as well. HOWEVER, the language she used to vent her frustration, and her evident pattern of behavior on Twitter and elsewhere shows that she really is an entitled, cruel b*(%^.

I worked many years in Dallas. In the car business. From all angles of it.
And I detest tow companies whom steal cars for a living. Then hold them hostage for staggering fee’s. I have had tow drivers beg to put signs up on our private properties… so they could just come randomly and yank cars daily. This is how they make up for lagging business. When it is slow… they use their ability to legally steal cars off business parking lots.
The tow companies that yank cars off commercial properties…. a restaurant parking lot … are 90% of the time doing it illegally. They know they are doing it illegally. And know you can’t do sh*t about it. Either you pay the ransom (450.00) or they keep your Car. And will add a storage fee of 75.00 daily.
Each day they keep it on their lot… you get stabbed for that daily 75.00 fee. Plus that original 450.00 fee.
They are so notorious here… and will tow cars off parking lots that they have no right to be on to begin with. Matter of fact… one got caught this week. By pure accident by the local CBS affiliate.

If her car was illegally towed, she would be well within her rights to complain about the towing company’s conduct and policies. But she took it down to a personal level, not critical about the company but about the employee’s appearance and intelligence. That is unacceptable. I have had my share of dealing with irresponsible businesses, and have vented to whomever would listen. But I would never stoop down to this woman’s vicious, mocking and insulting demeanor. Proof that a college degree does not guarantee class or wisdom. I don’t care if the car was towed inappropriately, you don’t insult the worker’s appearance or slam her station in life. So trashy.
I think the problem here wasn’t just that she list her temper – anyone could understand that – it’s what the insults she used reveal about her own biases that’s the real issue. That she’s beautiful and has no problem degrading other women who are not. That she feels perfectly all right using her class privilege to denigrate others. Okay in fairness this video was edited and she did not really pull the I work on tv angle. Apparently, McHenry said I work in the news and I know you have tons of lawsuits against you. (which is true by the way for the towing company) Does that change the meaning of that part? Other parts were edited too. Now the tow company releases a statement that they don’t want McHenry fired. I wonder why they would do that? There is more to this than we have seen.
I know this doesn’t change the rest, but what could mitigate her vitriol rant is if the clerk said something of a similar negative tone, and it was edited out. No she shouldn’t say it too, but it does change the color of the exchange.
I am glad she got suspended. What she said was reprehensible. The clerk was just doing her job.
And she could have snapped back, but didn’t. That we saw atleast. The video “leaked” appears to have been heavily edited with no full version to be found.
And her job was never secured. She’s a cute blonde that interviews male athletes. Dime a dozen sadly and nothing about her stood out.
Shouldn’t have been suspended? Suspension wasn’t enough. “Baby girl,” you should’ve been fired. Anyone with the privilege of being on on-air and public representative of a corporate entity needs to understand that their behavior reflects back on their employers. If she’d been a man, she would’ve been fired on the spot. The ONLY reason she got the slap on the wrist paid suspension is because she’s pretty and female.
DM has a new article describing why her car was towed in the first place.
The towing company clears out the privately-owned parking lot after the restaurant closes at 2 a.m.. Apparently there’s a note on its front door warning customers not to park there overnight and that it is not responsible for cars being towed.
Where she was when her car was being towed, that’s on her. It was her responsibility to make sure her car wasn’t in a tow-away situation in the first place.
Then she called the restaurant the next day and sought “to have staff secure the release of her car from company, Advanced Towing, who impounded the vehicle from the adjacent parking lot the night before.” This sounds to me as if she expected the restaurant to pay the towing fees and go get her car for her. Entitled much?
I forgot to mention that there’s another DM article that says she went after someone on Twitter before this tow truck story came out.
This other person wasn’t even talking about BM, but she jumped in anyway and basically implied that this other person isn’t pretty and so is jealous of her or something like that and said other petty things.
This other person took screenshots and put it up on her blog.
And now I’m wondering if she said the same type of crap to the restaurant employee the next day.
she should be fired! As a professional, attractive, and fit woman my perspective is not based upon personal envy. Many people people are not financially insulted from the negative costs of a vehicle tow and impound; indeed, the cascading effect of these types of outrageous fees can truly create a financial hardship. This espn woman’s sense of indignation is based solely upon Her overrated, superficial, narcissistic, and narrow view of herself/ego. The content of her comments truly reveal her entitled, superficial, and, repulsive character. Anyone who doesn’t appreciate, rather, cherish their blessings of health, education, and opportunities (self reported in her tantrum) but instead seeks to humilate or oppress with those “advantages” lacks a quality moral compass; this not overstated! Humility and hamanity go hand-in-hand. The fact that this woman is soooo self aware of her advantages and, yet, so indignate that her entitled attitude was not met with her being “bestowed” with further and unnecessary (except for her own ego satisfaction) advantage such as the release if her car without charge is profoundly delusional and narcissistic! She has the resources financially for many transportation and parking options, and to pay fees associated with her “parking strategy” which makes her “bitch fit” based completely ego-entitlement. She self reports her advantages and opportunities and she broadcasts indignately her “assessment” of the tow representative’s lack of advantage and opportunity, yet, expects and demands special treatment by someone who she represents in her estimation as an “underlying” in society; so wrong on so many levels. The tow company “may” work “illegally” and the tow representative may have been equally reprehensible but ESPN woman inflated salary literally has inflated her head! It was her parking strategy and she has the salary to pay upfront for parking, taxi, or uber or, like everyone else who was towed, can pay on the backend. But, instead, she so indigant with not being treated with special exception and favoritism she showed very true but ugly colors. She should be fired; it will give her time to become a more compassionate human being–before she gets older–she’s going to be really hateful when a younger woman pulls the age card on her!)
I think it’s funny. And as her boss noted, she’s got that job in a man’s world because she gets the tough-to-get interviews. Which means she’s aggressive, hard driving. Clearly she’s feisty. And so effing what. It’s a tow shop. Their rates and tactics can be highway robbery. She gave it, and got it back. No apology necessary. For all you self-righteous pearl clutchers: May you get towed by a mouthy bitch with a hidden camera!
Nope. Nothing hard-driving here. On the contrary: Britt went for low-hanging fruit, someone she thought didn’t count. All bullies do. Nor is she feisty. Just graceless and lacking self-restraint.
And irony of ironies: the tow clerk is a naturally pretty young woman. The real deal. Sorry but someone had to say it.

I have had my car towed by a mouthy bitch. My experience with legalized robbery:
–1 tiny, hidden sign which was so faded, it couldn’t seen during the day much less at dusk
–they left me and my shivering dog standing in a deserted area without phone or purse wondering if my car had been stolen
–took my car at 6 pm on Friday of a holiday weekend and then immediately ‘closed’ for the weekend (baloney, they were very much open) so my car could rack up fees til Tuesday
–announced they could open the gate to allow me to get my wallet and phone out of my car for $150. But I couldn’t have my car. Oh and the $150 had to be paid before they opened the gate. I kept saying, “But you have my wallet.”
–All told, it was about $700 by the time I got my car back. I was so incredibly thankful to get it before they auctioned it off.
Did I accuse their company of predatory towing practices? You know it. But insult someone personally? NO WAY. Even the driver who took my car… what’s the point of telling him he has no skill set or calling him ugly? No, no, never. It’s called self-control. I gritted my teeth and paid up.
There is NO excuse for her tirade, rant, insulting & ignorant words. The athletes this broad interviews have; Most of them “dropped out of College”, are missing a few teeth due to nature of sports, many were raised in an area just like where this tow company is that “..made her skin crawl..”. Not many sports fans even heard of this entitled self important person prior to this. She used her job as a reason she was better than the clerk? She brought her job into it, ESPN is justified & should fire her. Prime example of “Tell me how you REALLY feel”. She acted like a jerk. What athlete would even want to talk to her after that?
INo my opinion only, Britt was totally a b**** to this rmployee, who did not tell her car and was only doing the job for which she was hired. Educated people know appropriate words to use for situations which are suitable. Britt demonstrated by her actions, attitude, and use of language that education did not make her an intelligent human being. Brit is fortunate that I was not the customer behind her. If I had heard this language belittling a worker, I would have let her have it with both barrels blazing, no holds barred. I sincerely believe her apology was BS, was done only because this pathetic scene was publicized. She is a total idiot! ESPN does not wish to be associated with such bad publicity from one of their representatives, and I agree with them.
I had my car towed once, I was irate, mostly at myself, paid the bill and got my car back.
Interesting that she think she has so much power as a tv personality that she can get away with whatever inhuman behavior she is prone to express. She behaved as though she is used to not having any of her actions called to bear. She must be a real peach at work, where it seems many are hoping for her termination. I’m going to guess it’s because someone there has given her an inordinate amount of power, why? At its core this behavior is a demonstration of power over a perceived lesser being, which in her case is probably everyone else.
That woman is a real b— who is sorry she got caught. She didn’t lose her cool; she went at her to make the tow lady feel low and small and tried to make the lady acknowledge her “superiority”. She went to college like a million other people and she interviews people on TV. Yay, her. She should be fired because she thinks the job makes her invincible.

The most amazing thing about this to me is that Britt considers herself a superior beauty. The employee could probably achieve this look as well, if she had the money to invest. But it would be better spent elsewhere.
I thought we lived in America, freedom of speech anyone???? I don’t agree with what she said, but her opinion is her opinion. The only reason she was suspended is because she is on television which is ridiculous. She didn’t break any law and regardless of job title our freedoms shouldn’t be taken away. Why do we hold people in media more accountable than everyone else…

This woman needs to be fired for her insulting comments. Forget the apology because she will not be sincere with the comments, it will only be to try and save her job. If she said these comments in a tow truck not knowing she was being recorded, meant nothing to her, she has a arrogant attitude and thinks she is better than others, She knows nothing about the tow truck driver or why she is even in this position to have to be a tow driver. Remarks of someone who sees themselves as better than others. She is lucky to have the job at ESPN but she is no better than anyone else. If only a fly on the wall could talk I am sure she has said all kind of derogatory comments of others. Yet, smile in their faces,,,,,,,,I SAY FIRE HER LET HER GO FIND A JOB LIKE EVERYONE ELSE NOT ON TV.
