A few days ago, Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin reportedly called it quits for the second time. The story came from Us Weekly and seemed legit, like the relationship had simply run its course. JLaw was acting bizarre in front of the paps with her drawn on-moustache and chopstick waltz, and Chris was hanging out with Kylie Minogue. A few days ago, Chris showed up in Delhi and played an impromptu bar gig. But he managed to fly stateside for the weekend, where he and JLaw enjoyed a romantic Fourth of July together. Huh?
Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin put reports that they had broken up to rest as they spending the Fourth of July weekend together in New York City, a source tells PEOPLE.
Lawrence, 24, and Martin, 38, were spotted walking near Central Park in Manhattan on Friday, July 3.
“They were walking arm-in-arm, in a hurry it seemed,” a source says. “It looked like they were dressed for date night.”

I find it interesting that People is doing the “just kidding!” reporting on this breakup. People is the same magazine who dished on the couple’s first split. Then they shuffled backwards when JLaw and Chris were soon spotted together again. Maybe People’s thrilled that Us broke the breakup news this time, and the story wasn’t true.
Did JLaw and Chris arrange a swift holiday meeting to counteract the latest split story? Who knows. He did fly back from Delhi in a hurry, but maybe their weekend was planned. Someone saw them hanging in NYC and tweeted the news.

I’m getting a bit weary of people using this woman’s age as an excuse for her immature behavior. Yes, most women really ‘are’ on their life path and self-contained at 24. Many are three years into their professional life after college graduation. Some are working on graduate degrees or have just finished Law School. Some are married, are new Moms, AND on their profession life path. Some are about to enter medical residency. Some have just completed their MBA’s. Some are working in responsible positions around the world in the Peace Corps. 24 is not the new 18.

@Emma – how exactly is her behaviour ‘immature’? Some minor messing around with the paps is harmless fun. In her job, i.e. acting in and promoting films, she seems to be highly professional – at least according to her co-stars, directors and producers, who keep on wanting to work with her again (e.g. De Niro, O. Russell, Francis Lawrence). I’m not getting why you think she’s being childish – does she have to be po-faced every time the paps descent upon her, no matter how ridiculous the situation?

I’m 23 so want to chime in here, sure I may act crazy in private lol but would definitely contain my behaviour in public. I would say the same for most of my peers who have just graduated college and are trying to find appropriate positions in the workplace. Look at how mature Zendaya (at 18) seems.

Making a few faces at the paps is hardly ‘acting crazy’. She seems entirely mature when it comes to her job – acting. If she wants to be a little offbeat when being photographed by the paparazzi when going about her private life, so what?

The problem with so much J-Law bashing is that so much of it is tenuous and overwrought. I like a good dose of celebitching as much as anyone else – that’s why I’m on this site. But Lawrence really hasn’t done much wrong since she became famous: she’s obviously not a famewhore, she has genuine talent, she is obviously smart, and doesn’t say stupid things in interviews. So the people who just don’t like her are reduced to carping endlessly about her being ‘exhausting’ or ‘bad maintenance’, essentially writing her off because she has a goofy sense of humour. Personally, I fail to see the problem with a A-list star being funny on red carpets and when ambushed by paps, but that seems to deeply offend some people for reasons that escape me…

And when you say that Lawrence gets an easier ride than many other celebs on this board, that maybe is because she tends not to say stupid things in interviews, or behave badly in public. Emma Stone also gets an easy ride here, as do Rachel McAdams and others, for exactly the same reason.
i wouldn’t say one is better than other. Its always like this on article about those two. Chris’s fans saying he deserves better and Jlaw’s fans saying she deserves better. I think its clear they are not a good match. I can’t even think of what those two have in common. I think they both would be better off with other people. People who are at the same moment in their lives. Chris just got out if a messy marriage with Goop. He has his family as a priority which is nice, but Jlaw is too young. Also got out of a long term relationship and her career is priority. They don’t even have friends in common. They mostly live separate lives. They rarely see each other so they would be better off single or with other people. Media would leave them alone.

Being in a relationship with Martin is a proof she is not as bright as you think. Ever since this relationship started she has being dragged down on media. This relationship is seen as a joke. Chris is always out and about with Goop and the kids. He should spend time with his kids, but during his whole marriage he run away from Goop and media. Now he is everywhere with them. He always finds time to all his old friends, Hudson, Kylie except his girfriend. They see each other once a month and sometimes they months without seeing each other and when they do find time its always her running to meet him. He never bothered to travel to see her on set. She leaves the set to see him in NYC, LA. She even traveled to see him in the UK and did the walk of shame after the Bono concert. She might be an amazing actress, but on personal level she looks weak. Her team and friends should advise her. Chris can do anything and she is fine with it. She must thinks she looks cool, but she comes off desperate and push over.

Agree. People need to be blind not to see how she is being dragged down lately. She still receives a lot of praise because she has a lot of credit with media. She accomplished a lot and deserves that credit but things change. I honestly don’t see media being very patient with her and the relationship much longer. @Absolutely: Well, it’s always Paltrow that is in constant need for good press, so…most people believe that Paltrow is the one planting all the stories about her ex and Lawrence. Count me among them. It’s not what I would call “good press” for Goop, but it keeps her remotely relevant unlike her faded film career.

I kinda of felt that us weekly report was BS. Both are busy and haven’t seen each other for a while and thats why Us weekly just assumed that they were done. I think sticking together for a year now means they must have found something worth all the drama in the tabloids that come with them dating.

This relationship is a joke. Never seen two people not make sense together as much as those two. They have nothing in common. They both would be better off with other people. JLaw is coming off looking desperate and a push over. Chris is supposed to be private but he is everything but private with everybody on his life, Goop, kids, friends. He can do anything and she is cool with it. One day she is flipping the paparazzi and hiding behind Bono then making faces and drawing on her face. Her team is supposed to be the best manager team on the industry and yet they let her client look like an idiot. One year of this relationship and one year of Jlaw image going down the drain.
I agree. I don’t care much for her but all these news and reports are making her look stupid. She is the biggest young star in the world and yet she hooked with a overrated musician 10+ years older than her, divorced and with two kids, who is more invested in his ex-wife and any other female friend (Kylie, Freida, Kate..)

It’s not that he’s actually so much older than her, but that he SEEMS so much older, being married with kids for ~10 years, and always hanging out with 40+ women.
I very much doubt this relationship with martin is having much of an impact on J-Law’s image. Sure, lots of people don’t like it, but ultimately her image rests on her talent and ability to connect – not on who she’s shagging.

They are moving in together. The breakup article was to throw everyone off the trail. She is staying at the Greenwich Hotel in Tribeca three blocks away from GOOPS apartment on Vestry. Jennifer was house hunting in Tribeca the week before the THG press promo….

They obviously escaped them this weekend – no pap shots at all.
You really shouldn’t believe blind items. They are written by convenience. Jlaw always stay at the same place in Tribeca even before she met Chris because she likes it. God forbide a woman buy a place for her. It has to be because of her boyfriend’s ex who doesn’t even lives there.
She’s young, pretty and successful. Why she would want to get entangled with him, his ex and children is beyond me. To each her own.

I’m laughing at the idea that J-Law and Martin would bother arranging a quick get-together in NYC to counteract tabloid rumours. Why on earth would they care? Neither of their careers is in any way dependant on appearing regularly in the Daily Mail or People. I think Bedhead needs to just admit that J-Law goofing around last week had nothing to do with her relationship with Chris Martin, and that the US Weekly story was just BS.
Oh, and I’m also a little gobsmacked at the people calling J-Law fame-hungry, or implying that their relationship is trotted out every time they need good press. They obviously go to massive lengths to stay away from the media when they are together. Last week, Lawrence was parading out of her hotel every morning for the entertainment of the paps, because she was promoting Hunger Games. This weekend she was in NYC with Martin, and there were no photos at all, just some random passerby spotting them and reporting it on twitter.
I would not put it past JLaw to be trolling the tabloid press, i.e. feeding them false rumours.
Goop and Chris always kept the paparazzi off their tail very well. I think Chris still believes in giving the tabloids nothing they can use, and Jennifer Lawrence probably agrees but…has a different interpretation on how that can be accomplished.
That would be very stupid of her considering people are tired of this back and forth and made fun of the relationship and i guess you miss all the paparazzi pics if the happy family everywhere. They used to be good at dodging them before the uncouncious uncoupling. Now they loved it.

@@Bread and Circuses: Nope…I believe the only one feeding the press false rumors is Goop herself. Goop is really controlling, has Huvane for a PR guy…it’s a way to keep her name in the press. Lawrence has always been private about these things…if she wanted the press regarding them spending the 4th together,, there would have been photos…but there hasn’t been and won’t be.
Goop constantly has photos on DM and other sites to give her press and prove how good they are at coparenting during a divorce. Goop is so fucking full of it and starved for attention.
Jennifer Lawrence doesn’t seem to need or want the attention. The attention Lawrence gets is for her work and her charisma.

I think this whole thing started because Jen needed someone and something to distract from her nude leaks. Notice the relationship started very soon after.
And of course it has gotten people talking. It’s pretty genius if you think about it. Now everyone is arguing over goop and if she’s the one leaking info and the whole “are they or aren’t they”. Everyone has almost forgotten about the nudes, it’s a similar strategy Blake Lively’s team used by hooking her up with Leo D via Steven Spielberg to distract from her and Ben Afflecks affair and resulting nudes.
No one even talks about or remembers Blake’s nudes (for which there were many) anymore.
Are you seriuos? She’s even more loved and supported after that crime. She had support from media, people and her peers and this isn’t because this relationship but because she managed this crime very well

Of course Lawrence has some hardcore fans – what do you expect? But I think she also attracts defenders who aren’t stans of her. personally, I think some of the hype surrounding her is too much. But she is talented, seems very likeable, and doesn’t say stupid things in interviews. Her sense of humour is a bit silly for my taste – but so what? Frankly, I think some of the negative comments she attracts are a little sour.
