Ariana Grande: ‘I’ve actually never been prouder to be American, to be honest’

wenn22176211

We discussed the Ariana Grande situation yesterday. To recap: Ariana Grande, her new boyfriend and two other friends were in a donut shop and Ariana was an utter pill, licking and spitting on donuts and screeching “What the f—k is that? I hate Americans. I hate America! That’s disgusting.” Her non-apology was utterly stupid too – she didn’t apologize for assaulting the poor donuts and basically confirmed her hate for overweight people.

So, what’s new? Several things. After TMZ’s video went viral, Ariana and the donut shop (Wolfee Donuts) are facing investigations from several different agencies. The local police are investigating, and the department of Environmental Health is launching its own investigation into the donut shop and their Ariana-spittle-tainted donuts, all of which were unknowingly sold. Wolfee Donuts is in trouble because they left their donuts out in the open, subject to customers’ spittle. In fact, the Los Angeles Times reports that the donut shop could be in more hot water than Ariana:

A doughnut shop at the center of a controversy involving pop star Ariana Grande is in hot water with Riverside County health officials after surveillance video showed her licking a tray of doughnuts left exposed on a counter. The video apparently shows Grande and a man at Wolfee Donuts in Lake Elsinore about 11:30 p.m. Saturday “maliciously lick” doughnuts left on a display shelf, the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department said.

The shop owner took the video to detectives and filed a report, saying the doughnuts were deliberately tampered with. But Sheriff’s Deputy Michael Vasquez says they don’t believe a crime was committed, so they won’t be investigating Grande. Now Riverside County’s Department of Environmental Health is investigating the doughnut shop — not Grande — for the food tampering. Department spokeswoman Dottie Merki says health inspectors will be looking into whether the doughnut shop has a history of leaving doughnuts out on display and if they had existing policies to prevent access to the fried confectioneries.

The sheriff’s department will be assisting the environmental health department with its investigation. No charges have been filed, Vasquez said.

Ugh, if Wolfee Donuts faces more damage than Ariana Grande, I will be very disappointed. For what it’s worth, The Wrap says that Wolfee Donuts has tripled their business in the wake of the Ariana incident. So… okay.

Meanwhile, Diva Toddler Ariana Grande released a second apology, this time in video form. You know how everyone complains about how she doesn’t enunciate while singing? It’s a problem for her regular speaking voice too.

Ariana says in part:

“I feel like the apology that I posted — I kind of missed my opportunity to actually, like, sincerely apologize and express how I was feeling because I was too busy preaching about my issues with the food industry, which is not, I feel like, relative. I feel like I could’ve expressed myself in a different way, so here I am. I feel like now’s my chance, before the whole thing blows over, to say my side, and that I’ve actually never been prouder to be American, to be honest. All the advances we’ve made in the last couple of months, all the wonderful progressive things that have been going on — I’ve never been prouder of this country, actually…I’m not here to justify my behavior or make any excuses, because I can’t. I’m just here to apologize, and tell you that I love you, and I appreciate being able to talk to you like this. I’m 22 years old. I’m human. I still got a lot to learn. And I make mistakes and that’s how I’m going to learn… That’s how we grow, you know? That’s how we get better. “

[Via HuffPo]

If that apology sounds positively Beiber-esque, it’s because Ariana and Biebs share the same dimwitted manager, Scooter Braun. I can feel Braun’s fingerprints all over this. Anyway, do you even care about Ariana’s second apology? I do not.

  1. someone says:

    I feel like I do not care either

    • Cris says:

      I don’t, like, feel that she was, like, being honest. You know? Like, damage control. Next up, she might want to learn to speak properly.

    • TQB says:

      I don’t even care enough to watch it “to be honest.”

      • Wentworth Miller says:

        TQB, I didn’t watch either. She says that she wasn’t going to make excuses for her behavior, then proceeds to throw in the, …”I’m 22 years old. I’m human. I still got a lot to learn. And I make mistakes…” Okay, Ariana.
        I never had any feeling for AG, one way or the other until I started seeing the female version of the Justin Bieber type behavior.

      • paranormalgirl says:

        I never licked donuts when I was 22. I kind of learned not to lick other people’s potential food when I was… oh, I don’t know… 3 or 4?

      • Sarah says:

        @ paranormal girl : yes, I think I got that message too at about the same age. Perhaps AG’s parents didn’t want to restrict her creatively by telling their little darling not spit on other people’s food.

      • YeahYeahYeah says:

        I never used my age as compensation for rude behavior.

    • wolfie says:

      She says she was licking donuts because she has issues with the food industry – – – in her apology. I suppose she thinks this is the American way, and she is proud to be an American. I see.

  2. Britt says:

    Her songs are catchy and she can does have talent (when measured up against the rest of currently popular musical acts) but are her 15 mins up yet?

    • Laura says:

      Agreed. Bye girl. Come back when you grow up.

    • swack says:

      She has no range and her singing voice is grating – to me at least.

    • kimbers says:

      She can sing but whoever picked her tracks for her 2nd album is an idiot. Those songs are not catchy and sound like an old lady is singing them. The beats are slow and boring. I don’tobt get how she thinks she’s innovative or original? Great voice but presentation and song selection is embarrassing to watch. Taylor swift is a far better dancer than grandebrat.

    • pleaseicu says:

      May it be over sooner than later. This PR debacle may just speed things along though. Her arena tour apparently isn’t selling well at all and she’s getting mediocre reviews for it as well. Many reviews say she has zero stage presence and charisma/personality during the shows, is more concerned with how she looks than in putting on a good show, and relies way too much on the extras (dancers, flash) rather than relying on her actual strength: her voice. If a pop act can’t tour, they don’t usually stick around for very long.

  3. doofus says:

    I’m not going to watch as I find her TRES ANNOYING, but did she even apologize for acting like a brat and spitting on other people’s food?

    and I mean nothing short of “I did a disgusting thing and I’m sorry for acting like an entitled, privileged brat”.

    • Shambles says:

      Now that you mention it… Nope. I really don’t think she has once mentioned the actual spitting. She’s either dim enough to truly think the issue is that she said she hates America, or she’s dim enough to think she can distract people from the real problem by rambling on about the America thing. In reality, I don’t care that she said she hates America. I hope she knows she’s lucky enough to be able to say such things without being arrested or killed. What I truly care about is that she spit on people’s food, and I think spitting on anyone or anything is one of the lowest things you can do as a human being. But she’ll never take actual responsibility for doing anything wrong, because she’s oh so special. As Kitten said yesterday, She-Ber (brilliant).

      • doofus says:

        YES to everything you said…

      • Rachel says:

        Ditto. Spitting is disgusting. I can handle anything except spitting. And I do believe she is trying to distract people from the whole “I spit in other people’s food” aspect of her behavior.

        What is it with Scooter Braun and spitters???

      • Little Darling says:

        Exactly Shambles. She talks about apologizing, she says she’s taking the opportunity to apologize, yet she never actually says I’m sorry and for what.

        Isn’t that Apology 101? You say “I’m sorry for…” and then acknowledge what it is you’re sorry for.

        She seemed WAY more concerned with her puffy cheeks and how they looked on video than anything.

        I cannot stand it when people say, “oh what you saw wasn’t really me.” Ummmm, who the heck was it then? Your doppelgänger? Yes, that IS you, it’s most definitely you, because as you tried to sneak in there, you didn’t realize you were being filmed. This is OBVIOUSLY how she acts on a regular basis. Had she known, then she definitely wouldn’t have acted this way.

        She’s just sorry her “behavior” got called out.

      • Sarah says:

        What are those Rhianna lyrics? “Don’t tell me you’re sorry ’cause you’re not. When we know you’re only sorry you got caught”. Bingo.

    • Sarah says:

      No! All she has ever apologized for is saying “I hate America.” She’s never apologized for spitting/licking the donuts.

    • Brasileira says:

      Not really. It’s just one more non-apology, as it was the first one. “I’m sorry if you’re upset for…”, “I’m sorry if what I did made you feel hurt….” The blame is on whoever ate her spit.

      “I’m sorry if you’re a fat, ugly, American and bought/ate a doughtnut I spit on”. Pretty much that.

  4. lisa2 says:

    “I fee like”… (ugh)

    I believe that every celebrity should be required to take a public speaking course. and I feel like that after reading her apology.

    • Sarah says:

      It’s never going to happen. Kids who look like they can make big bucks may get taken out of school around grade 8 (witness the Jenner girls getting “home schooled”) and put to work full time. They never learn to read or write or speak beyond that middle school level. Very sad IMO. So much money floating around and none spent on education. It makes you appreciate Brooke Shields and Natalie Portman ditching it for four years to get a degree.

  5. Shambles says:

    When is President Obama addressing the families of the Donuts who were affected?! Will their be grief counseling for the other pastries in the shop who were forced to witness this horrifying incident?! I WANT ANSWERS. THIS IS A NATIONAL F*KING CRISIS PEOPLE. If we can’t depend on our gooey baked goods, what do we have?!?!?

  6. 30winks says:

    Trashy.
    Is calling her fans, “Babes” a thing?

  7. RocketMerry says:

    Ah, the “I’m only 22” excuse.
    How many 22 y.o. need to first be caught spitting on someone else’s food to realize that it is wrong to, you know, SPIT ON SOMEONE ELSE’S FOOD?!
    Pray do answer, Miss Grande.

    • Debbie says:

      I hope only her

    • Shambles says:

      Thank you! I’m in my early 20’s, so this sparkly, mumbling mouse represents my generation (blech). I make plenty of mistakes– I say the wrong things at the wrong times, sometimes I don’t make the best in-the-moment decisions when I’m at work, sometimes I park in a slightly crooked way and don’t care enough to fix it… But never, ever I have I even thought to go around spitting on people’s food like a misbehaved toddler. That’s disgusting, inexcusable behavior. That’s one of those things that pretty much goes unsaid, not something you should have to be told not to do after the fact. Don’t blame it on our age, miss thing. I want no part of that.

      • Brasileira says:

        ^^^^ THIS! All the way!

      • Sarah says:

        @ Shambles :
        It must be difficult for you to spend most of your time acting like a grown up and then have someone your age blame their stupid childish a**hole behaviour on their “youth” (or as I call it. The Scooter Braun defence). I feel your pain, Shambles.

    • Jen43 says:

      Right? I have never seen anyone of any age spit on food. If she pooped on the street could she blame it on her age? What she did cannot be justified. There are no excuses for this behavior.

      • Mojoman says:

        Well the next thing we know, she will be peeing in a bucket just like Le-Bieb. Birds of the same feather I guess…

    • swack says:

      She obviously wasn’t taught as a child not to spit. I am constantly telling my grandsons not to spit (I think, at my house, it’s a boy thing) and they don’t spit on food, because that would be either the food they got to eat or they wouldn’t be getting the meal because they just wasted good food.

    • Nic919 says:

      Licking donuts and spitting on them is the behaviour of a toddler. Zero excuse for anyone over the age of 5 to do this. The America stuff is nonsense and irrelevant. The bigger issue is her literally childish behaviour.

      I think the donut shop should start a civil action against her. She has got the money and deserves to pay for this.

    • Ruyana says:

      I now feel the same way about AG that I feel about Bieber. If you want to be a totally gross, inappropriate pig , ruin other people’s work and generally act like a horse’s ass, that’s your business. To hate your guts and wait with glee for the end of your career, that’s my business.

      • Brasileira says:

        @Mare….

        My dogs behave better! And one of them can also enunciate better. The other just doesn’t care 😉

      • mary simon says:

        Ruyana – well said! I think Arianna just jumped on the Iggy Azalea career path – provoke everyone to want to see you fail – now there’s some good energy to have coming at you.

    • Aren says:

      I thought the same, “only 22”, what?! Two of my old classmates are about to start their master’s degree in a different country at “only 22”, one in France the other in Japan.
      I think that in her mind she’s a very bright 12 year old, but in the real world, she’s slow.

  8. Loopy says:

    Does the shop have a legal case to sue her? Some type of civil suit since the police have let her go?

    • holly hobby says:

      I think they do. They are currently getting hassled by the government so they should sue her for that. Plus ruining their reputation which isn’t true since they are doing bofo business

    • Lucy2 says:

      Dif anything comes of the inquiry from the health department, then I would hope that they would go after her for any damages. Since they are doing well because of it though, it would be impossible to prove that she hurt their business financially, until someone else about a donut that night sues.
      I hate that the actions of one spoiled monster are having an effect on a business and an employee.

    • Trashaddict says:

      If they go out of business because of this twit, I hope everyone boycotts her work.

  9. Debbie says:

    She should get in more trouble then the doughnut shop but I have to admit I was pretty sicken and horrified they left them on top of the counter. If I was a customer and saw that I would run out but I have food prep issues.

    This girl is just, she is just I don’t even know.

    • aang says:

      I live in NY and the supermarket (Wegman’s) leaves cookies, rolls, donuts, etc out in baskets for customers to help themselves. Bakeries usually keep them behind the counter or under glass. And can’t she be charged with vandalism or something? I mean she destroyed another person’s property.

      • Debbie says:

        I went to school at Syracuse and miss wegmans. Best grocery store ever. Man I seriously miss it.

        Anyway back on topic she should be yes not sure if she will be, what she did was inexcusable and so gross, and really a huge health hazard. Not saying she does but she could have a serious disease that she spread with her behavior. This isn’t some cute little joke.

        I just have to admit I was creeped out by the doughnuts sitting out. I am extremely picky about this stuff though

      • platypus says:

        Same thing where I live. All kinds of baked goods (except the super-processed crap) are non-wrapped and for the customer to help themselves to. Now I’m kinda freaked out, it never even crossed my mind that anyone would to spit on them, or worse.

      • Rafa says:

        I don’t think it would occur to me that someone would deliberately contaminate them, but didn’t it occur to you that lots of people could have sneezed or coughed on them? Or handled them (to check freshness or whatever)?

      • platypus says:

        Yes, Rafa, that’s true. Guess I’m not that much of a germaphobe, I just pick out the ones in the back of the tray. The thought of eating some evil strangers bodily fluids is a little more disturbing than someone just touching them with their dirty hands (even though that would be nasty too).

    • pleaseicu says:

      The employee screwed up leaving them out even for a brief moment but apparently they’re not regularly kept out like that. The employee left them on top of the counter only long enough to help a customer that’d come in. Not correct protocol but also who would’ve thought that this little 22 year old snot and her boyfriend would lick and spit on the food and contaminate the entire thing.

      • Debbie says:

        Oh well that makes me feel entirely better about the doughnut shop. And yeah one would assume you could make this error and not have someone spit on them.

  10. The Eternal Side-Eye says:

    That’s right Grande, keep looking down at your script.

    It’s funny how angry this got me when I saw it. I’m used to immature and rude behavior from celebrities that involves themselves and their bodies. This donut molester was on a small mission to make everyone within a 1 mile radius of her miserable.

    I don’t care if she hates this country, she seems to illogically hate everything actually even if it’s making her money: fans, concerts, interviews. It makes her seem like the 12 yr old she looks like. I do think she’s felt the hit to her wallet and reputation already after getting some admiration and respect for her previous feminists comments from the GP.

    No ‘American’ concerts for you for a while huh Grande?

  11. lamamu says:

    She still hasn’t said, “I’m sorry. I was an ass.” Why is that so difficult for celebrities?

    • Hautie says:

      “She still hasn’t said, “I’m sorry. I was an ass.” Why is that so difficult for celebrities?.. ”
      ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
      If she was to actually admit fault, in her behavior… it means she can be sued.
      That is why you never hear anyone actually say… “I am sorry… I should not have done that… please forgive me”… no matter what hideous behavior, came from them.
      Once you admit fault… you are toast.
      So it is always spin spin spin or should I say.. a word salad….
      “It is unfortunate that it was perceived that way… I never did that… and I just want to say that the Lord is with those people… and I only wish for the very best of outcome, from that sad situation… I am praying for those people ..”
      They never apologize. Or make any legit comments that make any sense… just some tossed out word salad.
      • lamamu says:
        You have a good point, but I think she’ll get sued anyway once police go through the video and locate the people who ate the tainted donuts. Those people will likely sue the donut shop AND AG.
        Word salad, I like it! 🙂
      • Mare says:
        She doesn’t need to admit fault, it’s all on tape.
      • Rafa says:
        Eh, the video I saw is a bit ambiguous whether she licked them or just mimed the action (though apparently there might be more footage from a different cam).
        But really, as gross as it is, unless someone has medical issues caused by this, I hope it doesn’t make it to court. I can’t understand the culture of suing for every wrong ever done to you. And how would anyone prove they bought the exact donuts that were tainted? (A video wouldn’t definitely show which donuts received spittle. Or how much.) Or that they ate them? Or that they suffered consequences from eating them? Just seems ridiculous.
      • Kiddo says:
        Intentionally putting body fluids onto or into food is a big deal. People have gone to prison for it.
  12. Kiddo says:
    I do not understand how she is not facing any charges or fines.
    • blue marie says:
      Right?!? I don’t get that either.. I am not a fan of this girl.
      • Kiddo says:
        I think it shouldn’t matter whether we like her or not. I get that the shop shouldn’t have had the doughnuts out, uncovered, and perhaps there is some argument that the placement, aside from vulnerability to dust, particles and insects, might be an attractive nuisance for children, but how does an adult get away with slobbering all over food, and with malicious intent? A child might not be able to resist. But an adult spouting off about hating the public and then intentionally tampering with food gets a free pass? She didn’t do it as a joke and then buy up all the product. She left them there, and with comments of disdain.
        Compare and contrast:
        http://www.examiner.com/article/mcdonald-s-worker-sent-to-prison-for-spitting-on-police-officer-s-food
        http://localnews7.com/us/chef-sentenced-to-three-years-in-jail-for-spitting-in-customers-food-h163392.html
      • blue marie says:
        You’re right Kiddo & GNAT but I thought I read that some police agency was looking into it? I might be thinking of something else though.
      • Izzy says:
        I’m wondering if the fact that she wasn’t an employee of the shop has something to do with it, but there must be other provisions in the law about food tampering that would cover this? IDK
        I tell you what, if I had a donut from this place that might have her spit on it, I’d hire the biggest S.O.B. lawyer I could find and compel her to get a full infectious disease panel and disclose the results to make sure I don’t end up with something. Ugh.
    • GoodNamesAllTaken says:
      Totally agree. isn’t it illegal to tamper with food?
      • Kiddo says:
        Not while rich and famous, apparently, GNAT.
        I forgot to add that she mentioned she had dental surgery. How many microbes do you think she dispensed on that product?
      • FingerBinger says:
        @GNAT Food tampering laws vary from state to state. Depending on the state it can be a misdemeanor or a felony.
      • Kiddo says:
        In the state of California, spitting on another person, someone’s food, or similar acts such as the ones committed by Arguello could lead to battery charges. Under California Penal Code Section 242, battery is defined as any willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon another person. Any use of force that results in actual physical contact with another person can lead to a battery charge….Under California Penal Code Section 242, battery is a misdemeanor punishable by up to six months in county jail and a $2,000 fine.
        If the victim was a peace officer and you knew or reasonably should have known that the victim was a peace officer (e.g. a police officer, firefighter, EMT, etc.), your county jail sentence can double to one year under California Penal Code Section 243(b)….If you spit in another person’s food and that person contracts an illness (like Hepatitis C) as a result of your actions, you could face charges of food tampering under California Health and Safety Code Section 347. Under Health and Safety Code Section 347, it is illegal to willfully mingle any poison or harmful substance with any food, drink, medicine or pharmaceutical product where you knew or should have known that doing so would result in injury to the other person.
        Food tampering under Health and Safety Code Section 347 is a felony punishable by two, four, or five years in state prison. If great bodily injury was inflicted on the victim, you face an additional sentence of up to three years in state prison.
    • doofus says:
      I don’t either.
      at the VERY least, she can’t be charged with vandalism of some sort? and YES to what GNAT said…I thought it was illegal, too.
      • jwoolman says:
        Spitting on someone is considered assault. You can transmit serious diseases that way, especially if the other person’s immune system is fragile. I won’t even buy anything from the grocery deli because they have such a tenuous hold on the concepts of microbiology. I figure pre-packaged items from a large enough manufacturer at least have some oversight of hygiene issues and get inspected by the government occasionally. Contamination still occurs.
    • Rachel says:
      Someone who purchased and ingested one of the donuts could probably have her charged with some form of assault and/or sue for assault and possibly other things. But they’d have to be able to prove that they ingested one of the donuts she spewed on.
      • jwoolman says:
        Bet they could get money from her in an out of court settlement. She really should offer financial reparations to the shop and customers.
    • I Choose Me says:
      I’m trying to figure that out myself Kiddo.
  13. NewWester says:
    I am shocked that Justin Beiber and Ariana Grande Latte( Thank you MK- D listed) have not hooked up? They certainly deserve each other
    • jwoolman says:
      Yes, they’re both known spitters! Bieber did that to one of his neighbors.
      • briargal says:
        And they are both think they are so special and above acting like normal human beings. I watched parts of her “apology” and the only thing that I garnered from it is that she is afraid her career might take a hit. Just like Beibs ‘apology’. I don’t think the ‘apology’ is sincere and now knowing who her manager is, it all makes sense. Baby biebs and snotty nose Ariana are both delinquint (sp) little brats who should have been disciplined a smidgeon bit more than they were as toddlers. Someone should have taught them manners and about the word “humility” and gratitude to people who made their names known.
  14. QQ says:
    Lord! I like how couched In This SIGH Heavy “Apology” she kinda Threw in there some low bitchy whine about seeing yourself in video you didnt know it was being taken as though we the plebe intruded upon her inner sanctum
  15. pretty says:
    i hope news articles report it correctly. she did not lick it. she SPAT on donuts. according to the owner with his various camera angles. just like her repulsive social media mogul brother, she’s such a nasty person. she has this condescending, entitled tone throughout the entire “apology” video and she didn’t even addressed spitting on donuts. just america comments. awful human being.
  16. Marrrrria says:
    “Seeing a video of yourself behaving poorly, that you had no idea is taken, is such a rude awakening” … sad that she needs a video to show her what’s considered to be gross and unacceptable behaviour. I’m done with this woman-child.
    • doofus says:
      yup, she’s only sorry that she got caught.
      • Rhea says:
        Or….perhaps she was doing it on purpose? At least now people are talking about her again. I completely forgot about her until this donut “scandal”.
  17. Dita says:
    Can this budget Mariah just fade away?
    • NewWester says:
      I would love to hear Mariah Carey throw some shade at this child. It would be classic
      • funcakes says:
        I have a feeling it’s coming. I think Mariah had thrown shade in the past towards her.
  18. Kaye says:
    I was taken aback at the phrase in the article’s second sentence: she has friends . . .?
    Her video “apology” is more like a deliberate parody of a vacuous teen.
  19. Tiffany27 says:
    This is legit the funniest thing in the world to me. Who the f*ck randomly licks donuts???, who the f*ck randomly blames overweight people for her acting like an a**hole??? Her entire demise will be because of a donut.
    • MG says:
      Here’s hoping!
    • Jen43 says:
      She is baffled that people are so outraged and repulsed by this. Not only did she spit on food, but she proclaimed her hatred for America and its overweight citizens. When you add in the fact that she has a history of rude, diva type behavior, her manager and all involved with her career must be in lock down, crises mode. It’s all rather funny. I hope her audience throws doughnuts at her.
      • Nicolette says:
        That’s a great idea expect for the fact of all those poor helpless tasty doughnuts having to be sacrificed to be thrown in……….or rather AT the trash.
  20. Elyse says:
    Omg, no one cares that you said you hate America, Ariana. Apologize for being a disgusting and immature human being for spitting on something that wasn’t yours. The fact that someone in their twenties is “still learning” something so simple is mind blowing. I hope her career just crashes because of this.
    • briargal says:
      I care that she hates America!!!! If she hates it so much, she should go somewhere else to live and act like an entitled little brat there! Yes, she has the right to say she hates this country but try saying things like that in some other country and see what happens. Yes, the spitting is more important but it’s the totality of all her actions that make me mad.
      • jwoolman says:
        Most other countries wouldn’t care what she said, either. The U.S. isn’t that special.
      • jwoolman says:
        Actually, Americans are touchier than most about such statements. She is much more likely to be harmed by some nutcase here for saying it because the nutcases feel they are heroes and doing what everybody else wants them to do. It’s so common for anybody saying anything negative to be told to pack up and leave (usually after giving lip service to the idea of free speech and then of course trying to intimidate people out of freely speaking). This girl is just acting as a mindless twit in this case, but even she knows how dangerous her publicized goofy statement could be for her personally in this culture. We have laws protecting political speech, but they aren’t worth much if your neighbors hurt you and push you out because you exercise the legal right. Free speech everywhere is severely limited by the people around you, regardless of laws.
  21. D says:
    I think Ariana Grande and Justin Bieber could go up on stage and kill kittens and their tween fans would still worship the ground they walk on. Ridiculous
  22. grabbyhands says:
    Like, if you’ve reached the age of 22 and like, still need to learn that licking/ spitting on displayed donuts because you are “mad about obesity in America” is just horrifically, stupidly wrong, then you have A LOT of issues you need to talk to someone about.
    I could care less about her saying she hated America-in this country you have the right to say it. It annoys me that THAT is what people are freaking out about. I’m more angry that this obnoxious, self righteous brat gets to do something like this and now the OWNER is the one in possible trouble. I’m glad that at least their revenue is up.
    • Mystified says:
      It’s so passe to hate America. Spitting on donuts is repulsive! Age is no excuse unless you’re under 2.
      Just compare Ariana at 22 to brave articulate women like Anne Frank and Malala Yousafzai as teenagers.
    • Blackcat says:
      I keep coming back to: Who even thinks of licking and spitting on food in a food establishment or anywhere for that matter. I thought of some crazy stuff to do but it has NEVER crossed my mind to lick or spit on anybody else’s food. That’s so disgusting and her actions so deliberate.
      I hope the owner presses charges and she’s hung out on an American clothesline to dry. I wish Ariana Grande Latte would fall into a donut hole and disappear.
  23. shannon says:
    I’ve seen eight year olds with better manners. What a loser.
  24. funcakes says:
    The shop owner was admonished for leaving open food on the counter. They had a certain amount of time before the inspector returns to seem if improvements have been made.
    The inspector is right. The goods should have been away from the customers in case someone sneeze,cough or in this case handle the editable with a barrier such as gloves.
    In the food service business this just common sense.
    But Grande is an ads hat and she was wrong.
    Another dumb ads who thinks shes the first person on earth to pull a dumb stunt like that.
    But who’s to say no one has done the same to her in the past. From what I’ve read she’s been abusive to staff in the past. IE making security carry her when she to lazy to walk.
    Stupid little girl.
    • Kiddo says:
      But it wasn’t a stunt. There was clearly malice involved, and no one at the shop was the wiser of her acts.
      • Shambles says:
        Completely agree, Kiddo. She’s tried to justify the situation with, “I did it because obesity makes me mad.” That makes her sound like she was spitting on the donuts to punish people for eating them. That takes it to a whole different level of nastiness, in more ways than one.
    • Amy Tennant says:
      I totally agree the donut shop can be rightfully cited for leaving the doughnuts out where anyone can touch them and lick them. But ooh, I so want Ariana to face consequences about contaminating them. Who has the utter lack of common decency to do something like that? She must be a sociopath.
      As for what she said about America, I don’t give two cronuts. Whatever. It’s a free country. And thank goodness it is. If she’d been in North Korea and said similar things about their country, we would have one fewer annoying popstar to deal with.
      • Kiddo says:
        I don’t care if she hates Americans or the obese, and she can say whatever she wants. But in combination, stating her hatred for the people who she assumes will be the recipients of those doughnuts, does take on a more sinister element, with malice and intent. If she was a Muslim nobody, no doubt, there would be outrage and an arrest.
      • Amy Tennant says:
        ITA Kiddo!
  25. Talie says:
    Her manager Scooter tried to deny everything — including the licking. Like, there’s video. No wonder she and Beiber are so messed up — no one holds them accountable.
  26. kri says:
    What a grotesque moron.
  27. Bella says:
    “I feel like now’s my chance, before the whole thing blows over, to say my side”
    I’m not one to get annoyed by this kind of crap, but this is bugging me now. Her side? She doesn’t have a side. She acted like an animal and she is still trying to justify that and ignore it. This is more than immature, this is “you weren’t raised right” territory. It’s so obvious that she thinks by not addressing the fact that there is video footage of her spitting on the doughnut that she can just make it go away. I don’t believe she had any surgery and I think she just stuffed something in her cheeks à la Marlon Brando in The Godfather because I’ve known plenty of people who’ve had their wisdom teeth removed and they weren’t able to talk as clear and perfectly as she did in that video.
    I now believe absolutely every rumor that has ever been said about her, no matter how ridiculous, because you really have to be absolute trash to think it is funny or cool or cute to try to show off in front of your boyfriend by spitting on other people’s food at 22 years old. I fully believe that she makes people carry her around because she clearly thinks she is adorable and deserves special treatment, and I also believe that she did say she hopes all her fans “fucking die.” This CHILD has a bizarre sense of humor and I hope her 15 minutes are up quickly.
    • Shambles says:
      So, so true Bella. The fact that she thinks she has a “side” is absolutely infantile in this situation. As QQ said above, she even tried to whine about the fact that the video of her SPITTING ON FOOD (caps because I’m yelling in my mind, hoping that she hears it because she still doesn’t get the point) was taken without her knowledge. As if she’s somehow been wronged because her privacy was invaded. And she has to tell you “her side,” because she was bullied by the donuts, or something. Sorry Ariana, but there is no grey area here. Like you said, Bella, she acted like an animal. She was wrong, plain and simple.
      • doofus says:
        those damn donuts bully me EVERY time I go to Dunkin…bully me right into buying one of them.
        and you thought cheez-its were bad?…oy, donuts are THE DEVIL.
    • platypus says:
      I agree, she clearly has cotton/gauze in her mouth and if the surgery was that recent and still bleeding her jaw would be swollen. The only “swelling” is in the front of her cheeks where you can see the cotton balls when she speaks.
  28. Ronda says:
    Leaving donuts on the counter like that still is not an invitation to possibly spread germs.
    It is sad that most of the focus seems to be on what she said about the USA not her spitting on those donuts. She cant possibly explain why she did that with good reason.
  29. Margareth says:
    I guess I understand why the Environmental Health officials are investigating the shop more than this brat. They ignored their own rules and standards of hygiene and health to please a celebrity – they presented a tray of fresh doughnuts without the glass protection they use for the usual customers.
    It happens too often in all kinds of places – airports, restaurants, etc. The normal rules are ignored because Brat McBratty, a self-absorbed, dumb oxygen thief somehow involved in show business has honored the place with his/ her presence.
    • Livealot says:
      Yea I am more upset that the donut place leaves donuts exposed like that. I get skeevy at buffets too. No Bueno.
  30. Skins says:
    Its like, that was like, a career killer, babes
    • Bella says:
      I hope you’re right! She’s a shitty person. Let’s hope this really does end her career.
      • Rafa says:
        Really? I don’t like her, her music, or modern pop music in general but I can’t even fathom the overreactions to this. What difference does it make if she’s an asshole? I’ll continue to not buy her music either way, but if I did enjoy it, it wouldn’t make any difference to me, just like knowledge that Mick Jagger is an asshole doesn’t matter to me when I listen to the Stones. She’s not a professional nice person, she’s a professional singer.
        She is pretty young. When I was her age, I was more mature & articulate, but I can think of asshole things I did that I wouldn’t dream of doing now. E.g. I worked at a summer resort as a housekeeper & for the sake of speed I would clean the entire bathroom, toilet & all, with one rag. Not because I maliciously hoped I would spread disease, but because I just didn’t think about the potential consequences. Licking donuts *is* kinda funny/naughty. Unless you think about someone else eating it. Which she might not have.
      • Kiddo says:
        Naughty is a word reserved for toddlers and porn stars. Please. There is nothing remotely cute about maliciously tainting food with body fluid, and causing harm to that business owner and his patrons. And of course she knew someone would inevitably be eating them, or else she would have mentioned this adorable stunt to the worker, and bought the licked doughnuts. This wasn’t an act of negligence, it was intentional, and everyone beyond the age of 3 knows you don’t put your hands or mouth on strangers’ food, unless you are perhaps developmentally delayed.
        I don’t hate this woman, I think she has talent, but bending over backwards to say that her actions are different somehow than other people who were charged with crimes for doing the same or similar things, really points to entitlement and freedom from law, with a certain class of individuals.
        ETA: I’m not saying she should go to prison. But minimizing this sets a bad precedent. 22 years old should be way beyond infantile, but especially when it is combined with mean-spiritness against people she doesn’t even know.
  31. Jessiebes says:
    I have no idea who she is. Don’t care either.
  32. Izzy says:
    Oh shut up, you Grande Diva. STFU and excuse me while I enjoy my Tim Horton’s donut.
  33. Phat girl says:
    Is it just me or does this girl’s persona and attitude reek of Paris Hilton. Every time I see her pictures or the cat ears or her entitled expression I can’t help but see ole Paris.
    • FingerBinger says:
      I don’t think Paris would be as low as to spit on food. She’s disgusting but not that disgusting.
  34. Crumpet says:
    I believe that she is sincerely sorry – that she got caught. In her mind, she is thinking ‘I just said out loud what everyone is thinking’ and ‘it’s the donut shop’s fault for leaving donuts out, see how much trouble THEY are in? But if I don’t redeem my image I might lose my career.’
  35. Lynnie says:
    The sheriff’s office can’t find ANYTHING to charge Ariana with? Not one? Hollywood police are a joke. Sadly I don’t think her career will tank because of this. Many celebrities have done worse (Chris Brown anyone?) and they retained a good chunk of their fans. She’ll lie low for awhile, release something catchy, and then be fine.
  36. InVain says:
    Go. away. FOREVER – You useless little twat rocket. Take your toni pony, go-go boots, and cat liner with you.
  37. TotallyBiased says:
    Wait, I’m confused. If she hates donuts so much, WHY WAS SHE IN A DONUT SHOP???
    • swack says:
      My first thought yesterday. She could have waited outside while her boyfriend went in and purchased what he wanted. BTW, did he purchase any or did they go in there for no good reason?
  38. Nicolette says:
    Like, like, like is it clear she did not write yesterday’s fauxpology. She’s not just an innocent little 22 year old who made a silly mistake, she’s a mean spirited person who believes she’s above everyone. All those beneath her should eat food with her spit on it. Absolutely repulsive. She puts a new spin on Marie Antoinette, instead of having the mindset of “let them eat cake” Ariana’s motto is “let them eat doughnuts with my spit all over it and hope they don’t catch anything from me”.
  39. anne_000 says:
    I read that the health inspector downgraded their rating from ‘A’ to ‘B.’ For those not in the know, businesses here that sell food must have a big placard of their rating placed in their front window for all the world to see. Wolfee Donuts has a week to fix their issues to get their ‘A’ rating back.
    To people who say it’s no big deal and that it’s just a youthful prank, I don’t know what communicable disease pranksters have. I don’t know what AG or John/Jane Doe has. So I don’t want anybody licking food before they’re sold to other people, as these donuts were.
    And now because of AG’s fame, I’m certain there’s going to be copycats. So thanks AG and her apologists.
    As for why the counter-lady put those donut trays in front of AG when she shouldn’t have, it was probably because of nervousness due to AG’s fame and also because AG was demanding that only freshly-made donuts from the baker (who was in the back) be shown to her. She did not want donuts from the case. She knew the baker was there and thus would be making donuts on the spot.
    Also, the counter-lady said AG was rude. No doubt. As the counter-lady kept going to the back to bring out more trays of donuts for AG, that’s when AG and her friend would not only lick them but also spit on them, according to the owner who watched the video after the visit.
    Anyhoo, I hope her career tanks. I hope to see her working as a minimum-wage cashier at a discount store in the near future.
    • Kiddo says:
      Cashier at a doughnut shop? Shivers.
    • anne_000 says:
      There’s news that she’s had oral surgery this week, the same week she did this to the donuts.
      Since oral surgeries are usually pre-scheduled, she knew she had a medical condition in her mouth when she put her saliva over all those donuts that she wasn’t going to buy herself but would be bought by others. So what she did was even more selfish and cruel than what we’ve known initially.
      I want her to show us her medical records so we, especially those donut buyers, can know what people might have gotten from her saliva. I think she owes her victims at least that much, more so than some half-assed words her publicist and manager told her to say.
  40. Nolitaa says:
    “I’m 22 years old. I’m human. I still got a lot to learn.”
    *sigh*
    I’m 23, busting my ass as a legal assistant, and she’s spitting on donuts and issuing non-apologies. Maybe my mentality is different, but once I hit my twenties I knew it was time to put in work and grow up. I’m not a popstar with privilege surrounded by a bubble of people influencing her naivete , but I think it’s common sense that you just don’t do those things. Even if she didn’t spit on the donuts, to insult the worker of the shop by saying “WTF is that?” to her face and follow up saying “I hate America” I don’t even understand the mindset there.
  41. Miss M says:
    “I feel like… Here is my chance to apologize … Before the whole thing blows up”
    It already did, disgusting twat. I hope they can see who actually bought the spitted doughnuts through the videos and she gets royally sued! I hope the shop owner sues her!!!!
    • anne_000 says:
      The owner said that he couldn’t tell from the video who bought the donuts because they were mixed in with the others already in the cases.
      • Miss M says:
        Thanks for the info! This is awful. I cannot believe someone would spit on someone else’s food, putting someone’s health in danger…
  42. shi_gatsu says:
    Mmmmm. I shall go get a Wolfee donut now.
  43. jwoolman says:
    She was obviously goofing around to impress her friend, the words really don’t matter. What does matter is that she caused a lot of trouble for a shop and messed with other people’s food, and also treated a shop employee badly. She was being stupid and self-centered. She’s old enough to know better.
    But the shop also needs to never leave food out in the open unattended for sanitary reasons. You never know when an Ariane or other insect might come around and contaminate it.
  44. cheryl says:
    ” All the advances we’ve made in the last couple of months, all the wonderful progressive things that have been going on — I’ve never been prouder of this country, actually…”
    What on earth is she talking about here? Would love an actual specific on to what she believes her fans think is “wonderful” “progressive” and an “advance”.
    • jwoolman says:
      She’s just indulging in patriotic babbling. She’s obviously more worried that people would care about her little jokey rant than the serious issue of what she did to other people’s food.
    • Rafa says:
      Clearly she means marriage equality. No idea what else.
  45. Marianne says:
    Im more offended that she licked the donuts than her saying she hates America. That’s her right to say it if she wishes, but licking donuts she hasn’t paid for is really really really rude.
  46. kimbers says:
    Better watch out grandebrat there’s a 13 year youtube singer hitting the scene and people will probably like her better than grandebrat…
    Grandebrat is on her way out. Her music sucks and her attitude towards life is not fun to watch.
  47. Bunny Love says:
    I can envision a scenario where she and her friends go into the shop and bully the worker with “I am a famous diva and I only want a fresh tray”. Flustered worker runs in the back and in doing so leaves the tray out for these animals to lick and spit on. I would not want to eat these and food standards need to be strictly enforced but I would hope that the major fall out lies with this spoiled little mean girl and not the worker and shop. Time to put a lid on this brat.
    • anne_000 says:
      I think that’s what happened. The employee was doing all she could to please the ‘superstar’ bully and the latter took advantage of that.
  48. B says:
    “prouder?”
  49. jferber says:
    I’m with Marianne Says. She can say whatever she wants about America. That’s in the Bill of Rights. But what she cannot and must not do is spit on other people’s food. I’ve never heard of anything more unAmerican than that. She should be sued by all customers who MIGHT have bought her contaminated donuts that day just for the extreme psychological torture of not knowing whether or not you purchased one of Ariana’s donuts. If I were on that jury, I’d give them a lot for mental suffering alone, regardless of the true spittle situation.
  50. holly hobby says:
    Ugh why doesn’t she get it? People are more offended by her tampering with the food. That comment is nothing because everyone is entitled to their opinion but spreading your germs on food is a big big deal! She should apologize for that. I hope the donut shop sues her if they are getting hassled by the government!
  51. iheartgossip says:
    When people use the term: To be honest.
    They are lying.
    • Embee says:
      Yep! It’s such an obvious “tell”.
      My boyfriend does it…so don’t let him in on this. 🙂
    • jwoolman says:
      Be careful about that assumption. It very much depends on the person and the context. I use phrases like “to be honest” and “honestly” when I am absolutely not lying and about things it would make no sense to lie about. It’s more of a filler phrase. To be honest, I’ve never noticed anyone else using the phrase as a prelude to lying… 🙂
      Maybe it’s different when someone is answering a direct question about personal wrongdoing, though. I know that use of the subjunctive can be a red flag when a person is asked if they did something wrong, in responses such as “I would never do that” rather than the direct “I didn’t do that”. But that doesn’t mean that every use of the subjunctive, even in exactly the same phrase, is a red flag in other contexts. For example,”I would never try to dress my cat in a tutu because he would kill me on the spot or in my sleep.”
  52. Me too says:
    She is getting startlingly thin. You can’t tell because she has a naturally full face. Maybe this donut debacle is related to her issues with food. I know she complained about pus in cow’s milk.
  53. Rockin Robin says:
    I am beyond sick of her, Miley, Justin and all these weird celebutards. Just go away.
    • Aren says:
      At least Miley has never been rude to others. Even when “fans” have insulted her, she was always very calm and polite.
      She’s messed up, but respectful.
  54. Embee says:
    When did she join kabbalah? I missed that.
    Stupid brat. (not because of her religious/political choices…for her donut licking)
  55. Isn’t she just full of Charisma Uniqueness Nerve and Talent…but not in a positive RuPaul way. Momma Ru would slap the weave off her head.
  56. Brasileira says:
    At 5 years old, when my mom would drop me and my sisters to our little friends houses to celebrate their birthday, I still remember, to this day (I’m 34), she would always say: “Behave, do not pick on the cake, wait for the adults to serve you food and have fun”. I was 5. There was never a complaint about mine or my sister’s behaviors at any of these parties where we were left with the warning to behave and be nice…. I learned then it was not nice and not in good manners to pick on other people’s food or cakes, let alone spit in them. Are we seriously supposed to buy “I’m 22 and still learning”? You idiot, I learned that at 5. And so did many of us. It’s called manners and good education. Your age does not excuse your behavior…. your character, though, is a whole other story.
    And yes, please, ENUNCIATE! Or is that something you’re still learning because…. you’re 22? To speak?!
  57. jenn12 says:
    She deliberately spit on food she knew would be sold to others, and didn’t even mention it. And no charges against this little rich b—? Gee, wonder why.
  58. manda says:
    Can someone please find a way to knock this one down a peg? I cannot stand her attitude!
  59. Debbie says:
    Her punishment should be to eat a dozen donuts.
  60. ellalter says:
    Its time for all facets of the entertainment industry to start weeding out the weak-minded but talented brats and start bringing up the equally talented, intelligent, kind people who cannot catch a break in an industry that just seems bent on promoting that special blend of ignorance and arrogance as long as they are good looking. Enough already, let the Biebers and Grandes retire on their millions, and let’s be done with that. Time for a change.
  61. HHY says:
    Idiot.
  62. J.Mo says:
    Can you imagine what she said off-camera when told she had to do this?
  63. Josefa says:
    I got tired reading that apology.
  64. Henryjenning says:
    She behaves like her character Cat Valentine, who did a lot of silly things in “Victorious”. That girl must have problems or a toxic boyfriend.
  65. proac says:
    Ariana & her brother Frankie are nasty pieces of work. I’d love to see Patti LuPone — my new favorite force against rudeness & self-centered stupidity — put them in their places & also tackle the Donald Trump problem while she’s at it.
  66. LizzyFizzy says:
    Scooter Braun creates these entitled monsters who behave like toddlers, I suspect, because they’re easier to manipulate and control. Predicting that Bieber and Grande will go bankrupt while Braun strolls quietly back to his mansion to work on the next Frankenstar in 3….2…..1
    Evidence A, this Bieber interview in GQ:
    http://www.gq.com/story/justin-bieber-gq-june-2012-interview
    • Vampi says:
      Oh wow! That was some read! Thanks for that. What a swaggy little *bleep*!
      He really does NOTHING. Just like all the *new generation* of pop stars.
      I miss Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson..etc.. You know…actual talented people.
      Kid does have some talent, he just really, really needs to hold back his asshole side…lol!
      • LizzyFizzy says:
        Yes, Vampi! People who could actually sing and didn’t need pyrotechnics and backup dancers to distract from the autotune.
        It’s sad, really, despite their terrible personalities. The Biebs and Miss Grande Latte are so separated from reality that they’ll come crashing down eventually–and the fall will be hard. Mentally, Bieber seems more like an immature tween with access to shiny toys than a normal person of the same age in that GQ piece. Stunted, somehow? She probably is as well. What twenty-something thinks licking and spitting is funny? A swaggy bro?
        As far as Grande’s speaking skills in her apology, I was a writing tutor in college and noticed that people often speak at a slightly more advanced level than they read or write (because you spend more of your time talking, you generally get more practice and fluency in speaking) so I’d be very surprised if either of them could read or write very well. Combine that lack of skills with complicated legal contracts and you have a recipe for exploitation and graft on the part of the person making all the real decisions.
  67. Vampi says:
    She and her just as entilted brother need SOMEONE with some sense to tell them to STOP! This is like her THIRD apology…and NOT ONCE did she say anything about how she VIOLATED the public by going into a doughnut shop, spitting on them, sucking face with her gross boyfriend and then left them to be sold!! Hahahaha! So funny Ariana! NOT!
    So, SO SICK of these celebs getting away with whatever they want…break the law… Who cares right? They got the money and PR to get out of trouble.
    Well.. I won’t forget what that little troll did. She never said sorry for that…so she is SHIZZ in my book. Gross woman. Apologize for what people are REALLY mad about you clueless vapid troll! We don’t want your spit! Ok? Simples!! Gahhhhhhhhh!
  68. laura.e says:
    ugh. what a coke head.
  69. starr says:
    2 classic tell-tale signs that someone is lying: using “actually” and “to be honest” — and she managed to use them both in one sentence.
    She is beyond full of sh*t.
  70. Nik says:
    Did she compensate the business for all the donuts they had to throw away? The place was downgraded due to this. Did she apologize to the workers for her behavior? Your apology was weak and I hope you get photographed from your bad side from now on cause obviously their both bad
    • Vampi says:
      Ugh. Yes. Girl is SO obsessed with her left side. Vapid to the extreme! Bloggers should always just show pics of her “bad” side……Also, she has to be carried around like a freaking BABY! That is so…so..beyond, I can’t even.
      She needs a BIG wake up call. So far she wished her fans would die, rolls her eyes and complains after fan meets and greets, puts on a lackluster show, hates America, spits on donuts and claims it’s because she’s disgusted by obesity in America….. L..M…A..O!
      She got caught being HERSELF. She didn’t know she was on camera. That is who she REALLY IS when no one is watching. A grown woman. Looking down on the poors and their fatness. She didn’t even buy anything…just left her gross spit for others to eat so she could mock them behind their back.
      Yeah…she can go to hell. sorry/not sorry
  71. YeahYeahYeah says:
    “To be honest” is typically a phrase used to help cover a lie. Just a little fraud 101 for you all.
  72. E.M. MAXX says:
    Exit stage left …..ya rude tw$t
    And lay off licking doughnuts freak
