I hadn’t given the idea of flies much thought. I was just imagining a sense of wonder and play, just because it was more fun and cuter that way. And it was pretty cute. Cats LOVE bubbles, for play, you know? Maybe Lizards do too. But probably it resembles a bubble in water which I guess translates into bugs or fish in a little lizard’s mind. 🙂
That baby Chameleon is soooo adorable!!! I love lizards – we feed the wild lizards in our back yard and several will now eat out of our hands. We’ve given them names. 🙂

i’m remembering Chaz Bono right about now. The world sure wasnt gushing over his transition. So as long as men can still objectify you, i guess its all good. interesting.
Also, I don’t think Chaz had a great enough PR staff around him. That is all this is right now.

( I don’t think the reaction to Chaz has anything to do with him not being glamorous, thin high profile or anything like that. It’s more to do with him being the first Celebrity/child of a celebrity to come out as transgender.
Look how Ellen was treated when she came out the media and public chewed her up and spit her out. She was fired from her show and the amount of hate she received was crazy. Then when the next celebrity came out as being gay both the media and public was more accepting of it and was praised them for coming out. )

People seem to forget what it was like when Chaz first came out. He was on every daytime talk show, morning news show, on the cover of magazines, on Facebook, writing open letters, lots of photos of him out and about and so on.
Not to mention Chaz had his own reality show back in 2011 called “Becoming Chaz” and was on Dancing with the Stars. He was everywhere until the media got bored and moved on to something else, the same thing will happen with Catilyn in time as well.
In previous posts I very much agreed with you.
However since then I have read that this is a sports award and only given to current/ former athletes. There is more about being brave & changing perception – the link or quote I cant find right now.
But in that concept Caithlyn Jenner very much deserves this reward.
Ps. Doesn’t mean I don’t really dislike the Kardashians. Nor do I think the car accident in which she was involved should be overlooked.
I seem to recall that CB was kinda a jerk. I thought the TV show went south really quickly because he was so unpleasant. I never watched, but I seem to remember people being upset about the way he treated his gf. Not saying that negates the prejudice he faced or that he deserved the abuse or anything like that but maybe the world wasn’t gushing because CB isn’t likable.
There was a lot of coverage on Chaz, talk shows & magazines….but there are a few key differences. Chaz was much younger, whereas Caitlyn’s age and the fact that many people say “why even bother” shows just how important it is to one’s mental health to be true to oneself, at any age.
Chaz was ‘known’ to the public but it was more due to his parents, whereas Caitlyn had long-standing fame from the Olympics….and the idea of someone who achieved in the ‘manliest’ of Olympic conquests saying that they have always identified as female and are happiest to give up their former male identity….that again is a strong message.
In addition, I think one reason for the extra coverage could also be a reflection of social changes, in general more openness and willingness to understand & accept others. So while initial ‘coverage’ was gossip-rags and old-school mean-spirited…now that Caitlyn has gone public, the general public is also open to more thoughtful, informative coverage.
In comparison, the progress made regarding gay marriage, versus Ellen being fired when she came out. On a broader scale there is more acceptance, the media knows that and coverage reflects it.
Yuck! When will this family ever GO AWAY?!! You know what? I was a Stay At Home Mum for such a long time, I read a lot of gossip & books whenever I could. I started working a month ago and nobody at my work knows what Kardashian is. I know Bruce is a Jenner but he rode that K-Train for such a long time that he’s basically a Kardashian. And same with Kylie and Kendall, they aren’t Jenners, they reek just like Kim. And I don’t think that Kendall is classy at all, let’s all reflect on what she wore to Easter Church Service. They’re such a desperate family and I’m feeding into them by commenting. I’m pathetic.

At this point, both Caitlyn and Laverne can take a seat. Caitlyn because she’s over-exposed (already) and Laverne because she wouldn’t stand up for Amandla on the Cohen show but claims to be such an activist. I also really dislike people who wax poetic about loving themselves “as God made them” but then turn around and wear everything fake (hair, eyelashes, nails, etc.). I guess I’m just having a cranky day today. Aarrghhh!
I said this in another post: Laverne, IMO, is all about playing it safe. She comes across to me as someone who very much treads lightly in these big PR situations. Yes. From this point onwards Caitlyn’s actions are going to do more harm than good to her image and to the idea that many ignorant people already have on the transgender issue.
Unless she starts working on a LGBT group or something that can help bring awareness, it’s not going to look good.
I completely agree with you Aren – I was thinking the same thing. At this point she needs to be bringing her attention to important issues or she is going to appear like all of the other “Kardashian klan”. Nothing but fame whores.
