I crack up over how they high five and the media is immediately like “ohhhhh, they’re together again?!” Exes can’t be friendly?! Oy. Some chemistry they have! >sarcasm< She seems like an opportunist. I only know of her because she dated Derek Jeter (blech) and was recently reminded of her forgettable role in Parenthood. He's very rarely pap'd unless he's with a random woman who wants to be seen (Ponytail, Lily, Lindsey McKeon…) for her own gain. He's also promoting his movie so I'm sure he doesn't mind the extra publicity about him being a romantic guy then being pap'd with an ex, but c'mon. This is year-old news. I have a hunch they're just friends who reconnect at random and she solely relies on him for the on-again-off-again headlines to feel legit.

UGH SERIOUSLY EVANS. I love Minka though, I think she’s really pretty, albeit a bit of a snooze, but they make a pretty couple. But if it didn’t work the first three times….I mean….I’m not an expert or anything buuuuut? He seems like such a momma’s boy though. Like, if she tells him she doesn’t approve he’ll break up with her before she even finishes the sentence.
What is there to love about Minka? This girl is so irrelevant; people know her as Jeter’ ex, Chris Evans’ on/off girl, and pretty much a notorious jump off. It’s a shame he resorts to her when she’s always used him for a few tabloid articles and media exposure. Before Captain America she dropped him for Jeter when he headed to the playoffs and won the 2009 world series then his big movie came around and they got back together. I smell bullshit. Also, Friday Night Lights is marking 10 years (so I read) maybe she’s going to a big media glitzy reunion party and wants people to pay attention to her.

I’m not convinced they’ve ever broken up since the only time we see them together is when Chris isn’t filming. We only see them when both are free, so who is to say that they are always broken up during filming schedules?
My take on this whole Evans/ Kelly thing is, she broke it off with him to go back to Jeter. I think he was blindsided by her leaving (something I read somewhere). They got back together again and then she left him and started dating John Mayer. With all of his neurosis, I can see him continually going back to her, if for nothing else than for validation that he’s good enough.
That’s an interesting POV. I agree with you. Also, I don’t think she takes him seriously unless he’s got a big movie he’s working on/promoting (hence the opportunist in her being with men during upticks in their careers). I find it curious that she hangs with him whenever she’s not working and/or is not visible to the public, especially when she’s only getting pap’d for doing nothing. That said, my hunch is that I don’t think he takes her all that seriously either. He seems like a nice guy who wants everyone to like him, especially his exes so he wants to be friendly because that’s just in his nature. I think getting validation from her could be true, even if it’s just as friends so he can prove to her – and everyone because he’s so neurotic – how great he’s doing and get validation for his efforts. At any rate, I think we’re all trying to be detectives over a pretty boring photo opp when in reality they’re probably just friends who like to hook up from time to time, lol!!
your theory sounds really sad and if someone more famous/richer than him shows interest in Minka then it will be even more sad cause she won’t think twice before kicking him to curb again. He needs to go for therapy cause nothing good will ever come out this unhealthy cycle.
