I’m not sure about this, you guys. I think Poor Jason the American PR Bloke might have made a mistake with this one. You know how the Duchess of Cambridge feels “energized” about mental health issues, specifically children’s mental health issues? You know how her autumnal flurry of events seemed to center around children’s issues? Well, Kate is going to do more work on that issue. For one day. In February. She’s going to guest-edit The Huffington Post UK and “commission” articles and content around children’s mental health. And like most bloggers, she’s going to do it from the safety of her home at Kensington Palace. Blogging from the Palace… God, I would love to do that. And it would be great if she could commission more articles about hair, makeup and fashion, but that’s not going to happen.
Move over Anna Wintour, there’s a new, super-chic, editor in town! Kate Middleton is to embark on a new challenge in a bid to raise awareness of children’s mental health — she’s set to guest edit The Huffington Post UK for a day in February.
The Duchess of Cambridge, 34, will take the helm at the British arm of the online news aggregator and blog, commissioning content from a range of experts, parents and teachers in order to shine the spotlight on children’s mental health issues.
“The Duchess of Cambridge has made the mental health of young children a key focus of her work in recent year,” a Kensington Palace spokesperson told Us Weekly on Friday, January 15. “The Duchess will be commissioning contributions from a number of leading figures in the mental health sector as well as from young people, parents, and teachers. We look forward to welcoming The Huffington Post team to Kensington Palace next month.”
The Daily Mail claims Kate is “said to be delighted” about the opportunity to invite the gossip/blog press into her London home just to highlight some of her causes. Poor Jason (I mean, “a spokesperson”) also told The Mail: “The Duchess will use the opportunity to highlight the inspiring work being done by parents, teachers, researchers and mental health professionals around the country. The Duchess of Cambridge has made the mental health of young children a key focus of her work in recent years.” Except not really? Before 2015, she did a handful – literally, you could count on one hand – of events dealing with children’s mental health issues. This is a recent “cause” for Kate, and the pessimist in me says that it’s not so much that Kate has some long-standing interest in children’s mental health as it’s a PR strategy to give Kate a “big issue” to work on that A) is non-controversial and B) provides for good photo-ops. I’m also fascinated by the idea that HuffPo bloggers & editors are going to be “working from KP.”
Meanwhile, did you read this Daily Mail story yesterday about Prince William being “back on the job”? He returned to work at the East Anglian Air Ambulance this week after a “three week holiday.” He scrounged a free meal off a primary school.

Note to self: avoid HuffPost until this is all over. I hope Katie Bucket’s editorship is curated not by #poorjason with an eye to Bucket saintliness, but by someone who actually knows about teen mental ill health.
Are you going to cover HM charging charities £1,500 for a table at the street party on a PUBLIC ROAD (The Mall) for the 90th birthday celebrations? Or that Peter Phillips is taking a fee to organise said street party, with the fee, of course, being undisclosed? My head exploded with that news this morning.
@Sixer – that’s why I don’t understand when people say Peter and Zara are the only normal ones and do not benefit from public money and such. They might not be titled but they’re still the Monarch’s grandchildren and their connections are the best ones in the whole country. Of course they owe their careers and opportunities to being half Mountbatten-Windsor.
I almost fainted this morning, seriously. Peter Phillips’ company is being PAID to organise a public street party. And the main invitees, who are the charities of which HM is patron, are being charged £1,500 a table. And it’s on a public street. I mean: what the freakin’ what?
i’m always surprised that anyone is surprised. the Philips kids may keep it low key, but they use their royal connections to the max. the media decided not to turn them into click bait so much of it passes without much comment.
Most of the time, it’s never hidden, but because it’s not highlighted as something to be outraged about, most people gloss over it.
I agree.
But I think – although both are bad – there is a difference between using royal connections to grease your path to commercial employment and a member of the royal family being given a contract to make a profit from public celebrations of a royal event.
One is the crappy way the world works, with or without royalty. The other is tantamount to outright corruption.
Sixer, I see his company being involved as a bad idea all around. Okay to have the idea, NOT okay to have his company run it. There had better be several outside entities making sure this doesn’t go the Noos/Spain route.
I don’t like that at all. This behavior isn’t uncommon either.
I’m kind of hoping people will start asking more questions now. Poor old Beatrice may take a lot of holidays, but at least she’s not on the take. That we know of, anyway.
Sixer I read about this celebration thing last night and have to say I was blown away. Is the liberal establishment not making a hue and cry over this? Or has it been completely squashed? Maybe it is too small fry for them to care about I guess. I can’t imagine how people can think this is okay to do.
There’s been plenty of online and newspaper coverage, Maia. But I watched BBC news this morning and they had a long (sucky-up) interview with Peter Phillips where money wasn’t mentioned once.
I attempted to comment on the HuffPost US site, concerning Kate as editor, yesterday. They didn’t post my comment, but the article is not in the Sunday edition. I swept through all the comments here, to pull together the most erudite dismay possible. I even quoted the Mirror, that Nota, posted below. It’s possible to google the article, via HuffPost UK – but respectfully absent from the US paper.
I dislike the idea of royalty as much as I dislike corporations. I no longer go to the University, but have obtained a copy of “Evolutionary Psychology” by David Buss. I am currently reading the chapter on Status, Prestige and Social Dominance. There are so many things to object to.
Eh Jason will pre-pick the articles she can pick from, and he will help her write the “letter from the guest editor”. It’ll take 20 min of time for Kate. Not really impressed. But hey, for people who want to control the press, they’re now moving into actually editing it for them.
Considering the publicly available letters that her team send to her charities, She won’t come off well. This is an office that
1. sent out a press announcement with the wrong date on it.
2. sent out letters that they cut and paste from one letter to another in consecutive years and didn’t bother to proof read that they made sense either grammatically or in context of subject matter or even reflected any changes between years.
3. sent out letters with glaring spelling mistakes.
4. sent overly grown up vocabulary letters to an eight year old child
5. openly blamed their own office equipment when they screwed up delivery of a press release to the media.
i seriously question her office’s basic professionalism, nevermind expertise, when they can’t make her look good.
^ Ha! Very true LAK.
But take a quick second and think how much worse it would be if Kate was actually doing this with no help.
I have a feeling they’ll prepare it well in advance. Jason or whomever will ask HuffPo for already edited articles and she’ll “curate” a section on mental health, but basically just a formality because everything’s already done.
or she’ll go shopping and show up at the end of the day for 45 mins to meet the HuffPo team and tell them to keep the ideas coming!!
Karen
We would get variations of the Wimbledon Thank You letter if she was doing this alone.
And she’s not.
It will take more than 20 minutes for Kate. You have forgotten the hair styling, makeup and coatdress shopping this will require so she can waltz in and have a publicity shot taken as she is hard “at work” on the designated day. One must not rush the beauty regimen. Perhaps Pippa can make a smoothie for Kate to display on the prop desk to help promote her nutrition guru business.
Yup, it’s going to cost the taxpayers thousands of pounds to pay for the new coat dress, the dress underneath, the belt, the shoes, jewelry, and hair-styling just for her to take a photo of her pretending to do editing work.
It costs the taxpayers a lot of money just to get her to do any work.
Does this remind any other Americans of the Kardashian concept of “work”? Hair, makeup and clothes are the work. That takes time. Pap strolls – more time. We fools who actually have a job should wise up. We are not really working.
True. First they’re doing their own ‘royal’ photo shots and now they’re doing their own ‘journalistic’ editing.
They should just create their own newspaper or magazine, copyright everything, and then sue any other media that publishes any part of it. That way William can get his dream of being 100% in control of anything about his family that gets out into the media.
Anne_000: not a far fetched suggestion. Many royal reporters/photographers are saying a deal was struck with Huffpo in exchange for Kate to do this.
Look out for extra sugary PR articles on Huffpo in the future and only official portraits taken by Kate and the middletons.
Please tell me you are joking!!
The woman who can’t write a letter/note to an eight year old child or proof read her thank you notes to her charity, who clearly copies and pastes her speeches and thank you notes from one to the other or from her charities’ websites, who can’t spell or use spell check is going to guest edit a magazine.
Please, PLEASE tell me this is a joke.
Clearly someone else (more like a team!) will be doing the actual work. It’s actually insulting that they expect people to believe that she’s going to be doing actual work and that she’s a credible authority on mental health. GMAFB.
I feel so bad for her charities. Kate does so little for their benefit and yet the media gives the impression that they get so much our of her so-called involvement. Now this high profile gig where she will pretend to care while having her minions doing all the heavy lifting while she does nothing.clothe. Ugh. So fake and lazy.
The mental health issue is more important than ever and her only paying lip service for her own PR benefit is disgusting. I wish some of them would dump her patronage publicly and explain why so she is exposed.
Kate will sit a a table. Read and edit. Then her edits and input will be filtered through others before being released.
I’m looking forward to the HuffPo comments on these blog releases.
The comments won’t really be relevant if they’re in response to work that’s not really hers.
Anybody got a link to the letter to the right year old? I missed that one.
On Hello Magazine’s website (Dec. 21, 2015), there’s an article with a photo of W&K’s ‘thank you’ card to the students of Forest School. It was to thank them for the handmade Happy Holidays cards they sent W&K.
W&K’s thank-you card was type-written with no signatures.
The school has a twitpic of it on Jan. 7th at
@ForestSchoolE17.
I think that W&K could have handwritten it, because 1) it was very short, 2) as the kids put in such efforts to hand-make the cards for their family, they could have at least gone through the small trouble of writing out the thank-you card with one of their own hands.
Yes, that’s about her intellectual level: HuffPost and children. Nice soft balls to toss around, not too controversial, great photo ops, and you’re an awful person if you criticize people for being advocates for children. Taking a cue from her Scandinavian peers? Crown Princess Mary of Denmark does this with The Mary Foundation, only her breadth of issues covers domestic violence and loneliness in addition to bullying, and Princess Madeleine works with Queen Silvia on giving children an actual childhood. Does she even want to do this or it’s just some KP staffer’s brilliant idea to guarantee to insulate her from (harsh) criticism?
Or Princess Anne, who has been President of Save The Children since she was 20, and works tirelessly on behalf of them.
I completely forgot about Princess Anne, probably because she works so damn hard, I just take it for granted!
^well the Swedish foundation is more controversial (for royals) than giving kids childhoods (that’s sofias charity). The world childhood foundation takes up the issues of sexual abuse and sex trafficking, as well as children and young mothers at risk.
Ooo yes, thank you for that! I thought it had something to do with sexual abuse and sex trafficking but I thought that might’ve been a one-off.
Queen Silvia of Sweden founded two, maybe more, children’s charities. One is called the World Childhood Foundation, and she co-founded with her husband, the Global Child Forum. Madeleine works for the World Childhood Foundation. Sofia represented King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia at a Global Child Forum conference in South Africa a few months ago. Also Sofia co-founded her own charity called Project Playground.
I think Princess Madeleine is way more articulate and can actually compose an intelligent sentence expressing a thought…. Katie Bucket still yet to be seen.
Well, this seems off-brand? The royal reporters are going to be happy as clams about this, I assume. First she turns herself into the official photographer and then she invites HuffPo staff into KP? I’m sure Jason knows what he’s doing. There’s modern, there’s moving forward, and then there’s bumbling around the new media like you’re 75 years old. These two are my age. There’s no excuse.
This is so pathetic and naff.
I love the word naff 😊
Me, too, and +1 to Mrs Hughes!
I love it too.
Jeez, she is as photogenic as Wallis Simpson.
and wallis didn’t have all of the resources at her disposal that kate does — i.e. fake hair, veneers, spray tan, cosmetic procedures, etc., etc.
Wallis had her moments and a fabulous tailor.
Not to mention the insane jewelry.
I do lust after that Cartier flamingo.
I saw that flamingo in real life, and it is stunning!
I’m not keen on the flamingo but I lust after her chalcedony necklace by Suzanne Belperron (who was avantgarde in her day). Her ginormous emerald engagement isn’t bad either. Generally, I don’t like heart-shaped jewellery but the yellow diamond Windsor Heart is an exquisite stone. She had such a treasure trove of gorgous jewels but I think my favorite is her ruby and diamond necklace from Van Cleef and Arpels and the amazing pearl necklace that was a gift from Queen Mary.

I’d happily take those pearls!
Did you see the flamingo at the Chicago exhibit you were speaking of some time ago, Vava? – I envied your trip, for sure. I assure you that rather than the pearls, you would be happier with the ruby/diamond collection of the duchess’s, that Art Historian posted!
Actually Wallis was reasonably photogenic for her day, she wasn’t conventually pretty but she had charisma that shone throu in her photos. Kate doesn’t photo well as she’s as interesting as dirty dishwater and they’ve stopped Photoshopping her to within an inch of her life.
“dirty dishwater” hahaha!! love it.
Well, this is better than the “secret charity visits.” There will be an actual product and she doesn’t have to do very much beyond saying yes or no to other people’s work. It’s like shopping! (I know being an actual editor is real work, but who thinks Kate is going to do that?)
Seeing how resistant Kate is to giving speeches, print may be the way to go and something like this is more high impact than releasing individual statements. Not bad, #poorJason!
What vacation will this cover? Mustique, right?
Sh’s resistant to giving speeches because she still working on her new “posh” accent.
She’s resistant to giving speeches because she’s still working on her new “posh” accent.
This woman has no education when it comes to being an editor, and none in the field of children’s mental health, even with her very few charity visits. This project is unsubstantial, misleading, and very hungry.
The real question – does each article she edits count as a separate event on the official tally?
Good lord, how controlling r these 2 going to get. It should be entertaining at least given how ‘amazing and insightful’ the speech she wrote was but considering she’s only ‘commissioning’ she’s not really going to write anything except get Jason to write an intro note for her. The Fail should place a pap on Kings Road the day this is supposed to happen to catch her shopping.
She’s like Lydia in Pride and Prejudice – determined to make an idiot of herself. The Fail is going to have a whale of a time with the passive aggressive snarky articles. Lol
And HuffPo has just gone down in my estimation for giving this halfwit a platform.
Everything you said, Betti. The thing that kills me is that this will be counted as an engagement or three while she’s either shopping or is having her hair lengthened at Amner. Who will vouch that she will even be present for this?
+1 and a +100 for the Lydia Bennet comparison.
Betti, I agree with you on HuffPo lowering it’s standards – I am really disappointed in them! I have wondered if they offered this “opportunity” to Jason, as an apology for making fun of Kate with all sorts of silly hair, a week or so ago.
Princess Anne must be laughing maniacally at this pathetic attempt to turn Duchess Potatohead into someone with a relevant message and desire to effect change. Maybe Kate should just act as Anne’s intern for a few months – then she’d learn what real work is all about.
^^^ but this. ++++1. If only it could happen. Heck I would kill to be Anne’s intern/shadow; I’d learn so much. We already know she didn’t want to intern or shadow Sophie so too bad Anne will definitely never happen.
That’s really perfect–she should have interned with Princess Ann or Sophie–they are very experienced and well thought of. Real training for the role.
I don’t think Anne would tolerate Kate’s constant eye-rolls at non-celeb charity events and her bored attitude. Also, Anne might make her read something about the charity to inform herself.
I thought Kate was going to be making all sorts of speeches? What happened with that?
I’ve pretty much given up all hope that Kate will be a professional, articulate woman. I know a lot of people don’t like Amal Clooney, but could you imagine if Kate had Amal’s poise and ability to formulate an intelligent sentence? Then Kate would be someone worth noticing. Right now though, she just doesn’t seem to be functioning at a level I would have imagined for her this many years after entering the royal family. Major disappointment.
They r only make by this effort as they have been shamed into it by the media. She has proven one thing, and that’s no interest in charities or causes unless a celeb is there. I can’t imagine a vain empty headed woman like her ever become articulate in anything other than clothes and beauty.
Her shopping habit shows us she’s not busy and has no issues spending time away from her children. Her track record of making efforts when celebs are present isn’t good either. Or in foreign and impartial journalist/press coverage that she looks bored and in a daydreaming state for everything except celeb encounters where she springs to life.
And much of this would be swept aside if it wasn’t her her Horrible PR painting her as something she’s not. If half the things they told were true we would see an entirely different DOC than we have in Kate.
I am not sure why anyone is surprised that Kate is like this. She literally put her life on hold for a decade just to get engaged and did absolutely nothing of worth during that time. No job, no charitable endeavours, nothing. Now that she has kids people are giving her more credit assuming that she is hard core super mom because she takes a few photos, but she really only does the minimum necessary.
No, she won’t. Some poor assistant will do all the actual work and get zero credit.
I wonder if she gets paid for that.
What’s the difference between Waity and Pips and the rest of the Midds? They all exploit their position for personal gain. I thought she and her PR team couldn’t sink lower. This is socialite level of engagement, which means put your name on the product and reap the glory. Jason is making her into an empty figurehead at the expense of serious issues. It’s all too easy.
And where is the critical press on this?
Jason is a big problem. He’s not the issue though. He’s just the latest that gets his role dictated to him by William and has to work with what he has. And he’s been grasping at straws for anything to use.
@ hmmm
Very well described.
I think that’s W&K’s M.O. They have others do most of the work and then coattail on it and get credit for it. Same when they coattail on Harry’s and the Queen’s work. Same with their wildlife trust. Harry does a lot of actual physical and communications work for it and then William comes in, either tagging along after all the other work was done, or making a speech once in a while, or handing out trophies, as if he’s really that involved in it. Sure.
Kate can’t write & I doubt she’d know how to edit HuffPo. I’m sure the actual professionals will do the work, there will be a short ‘letter from the editor’ written by one of her staff, & that will be that. Or she may have Pippa write that, since Pippa is an editor of Party Pieces (her writing is pretty sad, too.)
#PippaTipsOnChildhoodMentalIllness
Be born into a family with attentive parents and go to school with attentive teachers, because according to Kate, that’s all you need to avoid childhood mental illness.
Hilarious, and spot on!
I hope she doesn’t write again that if you’re from a good family with attentive parents and teachers, that you’re not likely to have or grow up with a childhood mental illness. I think this part of her speech was irresponsible to state as a fact. Mental illness has many factors and is not dependent just on your parents, teachers, and background.
She even had the gall to say that because her audience had the same type of familial and teacher support growing up, they’ve escaped mental illness too. Really? It came off to me as if she was making this a case of ‘Us’ (normal ones) versus ‘Them’ (the mentally ill ones). What really put the cherry on the sundae was that she was jerking her head trying to get her hair out of her eyes all throughout her speech. She did not look like a ‘normal’ person at all.
Anyhoo… I guess that means her office staff will have more work to do in February, discounting the lie…er fact… that she’s said to regularly read a lot of scientific research.
I translated it as “clearly only peasants get mental illness” – with the background implication that poor people can’t parent properly. I hate that kind of speech – it’s Dickensian views dressed up as philanthropy.
@ Sixer
I think you’re right. That’s how it came off too. Elitist.
Do the British love their elitists – these towering figures of fancy? In my country, they would be bopped on the head for their antics, because fact is, they are just like us, but obviously have the power to contort the media, with its aiding and abetting. The truth is, that all this foolishness is just about them and their wish to remain powerful elitists, even with the necessity of lies. So many lies… Were it not for their position, they wouldn’t be showing up for any mentally ill child. We know that all they care about is staying cozy in their Sanhedrin mansion, and the trickle down economics to the Middleton kitchen!
I meant more politically speaking, wolfie. I hear exactly the same attitudes expressed by what I call faux-philanthropists in most other countries, including and sometimes especially, the US. The idea that the problems associated with poverty are caused by some defect in poor people, not by poverty itself. It seems to be a problem with self-serving, narcissistic rich people everywhere – “Look at angelic me! I’m helping the defectives!” – with nary a thought for the structural inequality in most systems that is actually the root cause of the problems people are facing.
It’s the same narrative as the white saviour narrative in race issues: poor people need the patronage of rich people to show them how live right; black people need the patronage of white people to show them how to live right.
Not just patronising: downright offensive.
And I say Dickensian deliberately. Dickens identified this attitude 150 years ago. And we don’t seem to have moved on very much since.
I’m so confused by her looks. Objectively, I think she looks pretty in those shots, but her face lacks some kind of warmth at times. She looks her most warm when she’s with George.

Interesting point here
They’re seething that it’s not with them.
They’re seething that this is what their field is reduced to.
WK put such a massive ban on themselves and have often gone after the freedoms of the press and public rights to suit themselves. Yet they will bend those rules when it suits them when they say so. They want lap dogs in the press.
This is just another time of many where the press is calling them out on their hipocrisy.
And something we know. WK bribe the press when threats do not work to suit themselves. A peek at their children, exclusive rights to photograph them when they choose. Ability to get press releases when promised. As opposed to being promised press releases and left looking like a fool with your editors as KP releases it on twitter.
So, the question stands. What has HuffPoUK given them for this? Expect to see MANY pro WK stories soon. And MANY bans on comments if even allowing comments on those stories.
Sordid and glorious unpacking of this circus, FLORC.
@ FLORC
Maybe W&K will use HuffPoUK as their own news outlet with their PR team writing self-promoting advertisements disguised as royal ‘news.’ And they’ll post photos taken by themselves and copyrighted so that only their articles will be the ones with the exclusive pics.
Since it may be too much for W&K to start their own newspaper or magazine and their social media accounts may be a bit limiting when it comes to posting a regular-sized article, and with William liking to control their press coverage so tightly, doing their own articles and showing their own photos through something like HuffPoUK might be the next step in their strategy.
Or was there a deal to get HuffPoUK to hire Pippa to be one of there contributors in exchange for Kate to do this one-day editing?

you’re suggesting that isn’t done already. Silly boy
So she’s done with palliative care then?
You mean is she done being reclusive? I’d say so. Although, she was shopping or out and about during that time. She just wasn’t working with her charities (exception to celebs and sailing).
No, I think she meant is she done with the hospice charities, which was her last big project if I recall.
@ lainey
LOL! Yeah, she fixed it. Done. Onto the next thing she can fix. 😛
This strikes me and so random and bizarre. I feel badly for Kate actually. I don’t think she knows who she is.
I don’t think she knows how to do anything.
Cupcake and Perplexed: nailed it.
And maybe she really would have been good at figuring things out had she ever had a chance (or needed to), but she went straight from listening to her idiot mother to being ordered around by courtiers/PR people/etc. We’ve never seen what she could do – she doesn’t even know what she’s capable of!
To a degree I agree. I can’t find myself able to excuse complacency. There’s no effort. She’s does so little they’ve redefined the bare minimum. And excuses to her apathy have become as a low as belittling working moms to raise her up.
She waiting for a man who treated her like a mattress hence the security nickname. That she put off growing for. Waiting by a phone. Did as told. But now she has the ring and 2 children. She has the ability to work and grow. So, why is she still not even becoming half the person her PR says she is?
She has thick skin and the press in her pocket. It’s time to do something.
I doubt this will happen though. Her behavior towards work and her podium is that of a sloth.
I detest HuffPost online; they take forever to download and they’re especially difficult to email links. This, IMO (Kate’s involvement) is meaningless anyway.
LOL we´re talking about a woman who made more than one error in a short “thank you for the free stuff”-note? I wonder if she learned the difference between the words “quiet” and “quite” (or was it “quit”?) in the meantime? The funniest thing is “quiet” and “quit” suit her character perfect 😉
Guest editor my a**.
I actually laughed out loud when I read she was going to edit articles. Seriously? She can barely string together a speech with 6 lines and can’t write a letter to a child, but we’re to believe she’s not only reading scientific journals about children mental health issues, but has the knowledge to edit similarly written articles. Right…
Yes, it is laughable, for sure. They are trying to turn Kate into something she clearly is NOT.
It’s an invisible role that can be handed off to someone else. In that way, it’s ideal for her. Huffington Post seems like an odd choice to me, though.
Where’s Maggie?
It would have been nice if Kate had guest-edited The Big Issue, instead of the Huffington Post. The Big Issue is an actual paper that gets sold on UK streets by the homeless, thus giving them an income.
That’s a great idea!
If W&K would put in exclusive photos of their kids in that magazine, then the sellers would get more sales. It would be good if they do a regular article for it with pics.
But I’m thinking they might think they and their kids are too good for such a publication.
What a weird curve ball for her- this is so left of field. I thought that usually guest editors would have some kind of theme or line that they were known for; this would lend their selections and edits a common theme or thread. What do we know about her that will make this guest-edit recognisably ‘her’? I reckon someone else will do it all and she will pose for the photo holding the i pad. Weird.
that quote from us weekly–Move over Anna Wintour, there’s a new, super-chic, editor in town!–made me gag
I’m sure it made Anna gag, too.
Since when has she ever had an interest in journalism?!
Her interest in Art History was for her application to the royal family – there has been no use of it at all, except perhaps to decorate her homes.
It was also the degree Normal Bill originally signed up for before changing to Geography.
Ugh. This annoys me. She is no way qualified to be the guest editor of anything. Just another fun little thing for her to do, and something that she got because of who she is. I wonder if this will count as “work” for her. And I gotta say, she is looking rough. She looks so much older than her actual age.
Did a bit of research on this. “Guest Editors” do not have to know what they’re doing. Other very dim celebs have done this. It’s only a name the publication can attach for publicity. Kate will attend, her name will be on articles as a credit. And she will brain storm ideas with journalist and professionals in their fields on the topic and journalism. Everyone else will do the rest.
At best she only has to say some things and the journalist will spin that into it being her edits and input.
Edits, and input that will be *very hard* to believe at this point.
Interesting… I consider both Huff Po and Kate to be equally empty. Huff Po seems to only have puff pieces and Kate seems like a Barbie Princess to me. Really, there’s nothing there.
In my employment as a public servant ive been told not to use the term ‘brainstorming’ as it might offend people with epilepsy (no, im not kidding) however in this context I think its insulting to those of us who actually have a brain. On th subject of th queens 90th birthday celebrations – the queen’s staff are masters of organising events -they should be doing it – to allow peter phillips company to do it for an undisclosed fee is th most appalling case of nepotism ive ever witnessed. Appalling.
Sorry to threadjack, but please, please cover the DM’s latest story where they call her “Crusading Kate” (😂😂) and say she has “ordered her aides to fill up her diary for 2016!” As usual, she is ‘keen’ to get going.

So… Will it be her staffs falut when she goes great lengths of time without doing anything?
This is classic! They are both praising her and setting her up to fail. No way she starts working steadily. No way she changes into someone who wants her schedule filled up. During the Queens Jub she was said to say how exhausting it was. and that was extremely low workload.
However, should she begin to take a more active role and actually bring something to the table instead of it only being self promotion she will have well earned a pat on the back.
Until then this is all talk and all jobs that serve a single purpose. PR Goodwill.
I burst out laughing and thought this was satire when I first saw the news! Then I realized that her PR camp must be absolutely desperate to rehab her public image. She is so unqualified to edit anything that she’s making herself into a public laughingstock. She couldn’t be trusted to READ aloud a newspaper article without embarrassing herself, so why on earth would anyone let her be guest editor?! After my initial shock, I realized that no one is actually going to let her do any actual work. She is going to wear one of her thousands of pounds hideous outfits, paid for with OPM and sit at a desk for an hour while qualified people put articles in front of her for her to approve. It’s a huge farce and an obvious PR ploy that has already backfired. A smarter thing to do would be to have her attend a course in the subject of mental health, as a student, rather than prancing in as some sort of expert. This is not going to go well for her.
