Here are more photos of Sophie Turner (Sansa Stark on Game of Thrones) at the SAG Awards on Saturday. Her gown was Carolina Herrera and I didn’t like it, although none of the GOT ladies really looked spectacular at the SAGs. The GOT ladies were teasing the new season –which doesn’t come out until April – and I can’t help it, I’m getting excited. Just two more months! Sophie says Season 6 will be The Year of Sansa Getting Hers.
“I mean this season is a really, really big one for Sansa,” the actress said during EW’s SAG Awards party on Friday in Los Angeles. “It’s probably her best season yet. It’s her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it’s really good.”
Last season saw Sansa returning to her home of Winterfell to marry the psychotic Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon) and crossed paths with Theon (Alfie Allen) in the process. While Sansa’s fate was unclear during the finale, Turner further teased that fans are “finally getting that storyline that you’ve been craving for the past five seasons….It was amazing because the past five seasons, it feels like it’s been building up and up to that. You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect that she deserves.”
And, of course, what Game of Thrones season would be complete without some major shockers in store?
“I mean this season there’s like so many shocks, it’s massive,” Turner continued. “It’s the biggest season yet. And just like in terms of character development, so many people’s storylines, I’m so excited for. I’m so excited to see Alfie’s one this season. It’s going to be good.”
Bless. I really hope this isn’t just another GOT-lie. I really hope that after everything Sansa has put up with, from Joffrey to Ramsey to Littlefinger, that she finally kicks ass and takes names. I’m not entirely confident that she will hook up with Brienne, but I think a reunion with Littlefinger is probably in the works, right? I need to stop thinking about this or I’ll obsess about it all week.
Oh, and Emilia Clarke told E! that “Legitimately, this season almost killed us. Like, it is epic. Like, it’s huge. It’s insane. It’s silly.” Is that because Dany hooks up with more Dothraki riders and finds a new husband? PLEASE?

I’m not holding my breath for Sansa to “come into her own”. I mean her final scene in the last season was basically Theon rescuing her. He even had to convince her to escape (jump) before her sociopath husband returns. That character has zero agency, I cant see how they would give her some short of a personality transplant.
It’s a process!
She was raised to be a perfect lady, the oldest daughter of an important house. She is in no way a modern woman so we can’t judge her with our modern eyes. She was to marry well and raise well behaved kids and be proper and womanly. It would be silly for her to all of a sudden be a badass when she wouldn’t even know what that meant. It’s taken all her struggles to get where she is, which is a way more genuine story. She has survived thus far by lying and playing the part. She was the one who was surprised when Margaery knew about ‘women’s bodies being complicated’ – she was still very much a child up until recently.
I have enjoyed watching her be slightly stronger with every passing season. GO SANSA!
I agree. Everyone always compares her to badass Arya – Sansa wouldn’t have survived on Arya’s path. But they forget – Arya wouldn’t have survived on Sansa’s path, either.
I like her too — Arya’s a good character but not every woman can — or should — be a sword-wielding badass. Sansa has always been taught that “courtesy is a lady’s armor” and she’s been able to keep control of herself, and stay alive, in situations which would have destroyed Arya, just as Arya has been able to handle events which Sansa couldn’t have politely steeled her way through. And I didn’t really see it as Theon rescuing her, more like them rescuing each other. She was already determined to get out, and Theon was only really able to remember who he was, and act like it, because she was there. As for convincing her to escape, I’d have to watch the scene again but I really didn’t see it like that. She wanted to escape, she had already tried once and the servant ended up getting horribly killed. She was trying again. In the end, their only choice was to jump off a gigantic wall — who wouldn’t hesitate when they see that? It’s hard to imagine either Theon or Sansa being able to make that jump alone, but they could help each other do it.
Well she’s been saying those exact same words since season 3 lol. Let’s hope this time really is it…

Ghost! And I’m praying that the Ghost spoiler is true!!
I really want this to be true. I love Sansa (and Sophie!) and Lord knows, she deserves a chance to shine. But then, we were promised after Season 4 that Sansa was going to emerge as a new player in the game, a sharp new manipulator – and instead, the showrunners had her take the place of a minor character to get married and raped. A plot, I should note, that helped create massive plot holes, required Brienne, Sansa and Petyr to essentially be lobotomized for them to be part of such a massively stupid storyline, and ended being basically nothing but fodder for Theon’s character development, not Sansa’s. So while I’m crossing my fingers for some GOT girl power, I’m not sure I’m too optimistic about this. We’ll have to wait and see.
I just wrote pretty much the same thing, but I lagged a bit on the submission.
Life is a journey. A storyline shouldn’t just go smoothly from A to B. She was going really well and was learning to play the game and life threw her a curve ball. She’ll get there in the end.
I’m so excited for the next season, but the last time Sansa “came into her own”, she went from being safe in the Vale to being raped and tortured for the rest of the season. I’m guessing this means she gets more lines before getting killed for Theon’s character development.
Most of Sansa’s family is dead. She’s been betrayed raped and abused. It’s about time she come into her own.
Seems like all of the women on GOT get raped and abused. Not an easy show to watch. I do miss Ned, who didn’t care if he was dead…..my Jon Snow, but he will be back…
Sansa has been lost and powerless since Lady, her dire wolf, was killed.
Arya’s dire wolf is a murderous beast who is terrorizing the Riverlands. Much like Arya herself
I hope Arya reunites with her dire wolf – it would be quite the storyline with the 2 of them terrorising Westeros.
I don’t know if Sansa will grow a backbone this season thou i could see her become more badass if she reunites with Jon and/or Arya – the 3 of them out to avenge their family.
I finally starting reading the first book (not far yet), and it was interesting that non-superstitious Ned realized that the direwolves have that connection with his children, and he’s deeply disturbed by the fact that he’d had to kill Lady. He realizes that this may have consequences for Sansa.
The wolves do a lot more in the books. Nymeria gets chapters to herself.

I will not be satisfied until she punches him in his stupid smirking face, followed by kneeing him in the groin. She can them tell him that her mother always knew he was a little weasel, and felt nothing but pity, followed by contempt, for him. LF is responsible for the fall of the Starks, and I hope Sansa is the cause of his death. He’s a fascinating character, so I hope it’s not until the final episode.
I hope they hook up. They have great chemistry and I love their scenes.
Sansa, IMO, has had the most realistic story arc. Her journey hasn’t been 0 to Bad Ass over night and that mirrors how most people would be. But it’s about time she starts taking control and having a few wins.
