Many thanks to CB, who covered one of my favorite gossip beats yesterday, the royals. I was away all of Thursday morning because my mom was having surgery, so I missed part (but not all!) of the discussion going around William and Kate’s visit to the Rethink Mental Illness in London. Various pro-royal sites have been doing the heavy lifting on William’s latest cause, which is suicide prevention. He’s keen about it. Until he drops it a few months from now.
Anyway, these are some additional photos from Will and Kate’s two events on Thursday. At Rethink Mental Illness, Kate did not take off her Erdem coat, which is something I never liked about Kate – I get that she has an impressive coat collection, but to sit inside for an hour and not take off your coat? It makes it look like you have one foot out the door and you’re not really that keen about what’s happening. At the second event of the day, Kate did take off her coat to reveal this inexpensive (relatively speaking) Jonathan Saunders dress, which retails for $115. Kate does love a bird print, and I actually sort of like this.
Meanwhile, there’s a lot of other stuff going down in Cambridgeville. Most of British media outlets have had enough of the Cambridges’ crap and the coverage is starting to get openly hostile. Failing that, some outlets are covering-the-coverage, like “Have the British papers fallen out of love with the Cambridges?” types of pieces. One of my favorite royal-watchers, Tom Sykes of the Daily Beast, did an excellent piece called “Inside Will & Kate’s Privacy Obsession” – go here to read. He slams Will & Kate as “arrogant” and “extravagant” and says this could be a preview of things to come if Will and Kate’s marriage ever does start to crack or if they continue to be so utterly tone-deaf.
And finally, a few days ago, the Daily Mail decided to run what was easily the most laughable and nonsensical story. All week, The Mail has been running “exclusives” about what the Queen really thinks about this and that (like, there are claims that the Queen hated the idea of gay marriage), and then the Mail’s Richard Kay dropped this: “The Queen’s secret ‘deal’ to let William be a part-time royal and why the short-fused Prince reminds her of Philip – and her father.” I would suggest you read the full piece here, because it’s one of the most obvious pieces of royal-PR fluff I’ve ever seen. Sources tell Kay that the Queen admires the Middleton family and she loves that William is so influenced by Carole Middleton. The Queen sees William as her true heir, and she believes he will rule Great Britain in much the same way she has. And William only works as a royal “part time” as part of a “quiet understanding” with Her Majesty.
If all of that is true – and let’s be clear, it is not true – then why is the Queen so hellbent on forcing Will and Kate to work more, hm? Why couldn’t Kate even get through a pre-Christmas lunch without being FORCED into taking on another commitment? Why is the Queen letting William know that she expects him to take on more work, starting this year?

I vote that Harry jumps Wills to be king.
No votes allowed!! Right? At least, I think there are no votes in a Monarchy. However, I also vote Harry for king. Why can’t primogeniture be a little tweaked to include other kids in the primary line? As long as ‘everything’ passes to one of all the ‘right’ blood, what’s the difference anymore?
William would have to remove himself from the line of succession for that to happen. This would first require him to recognise that he won’t be able to be King AND a total slacker, and for the Middletons to let go of their Queen Kate dream.
Can’t we force the issue by starting a petition on the PM’s govt petitions website?
100,000 signatures would force a parliamentary debate. Like they did for Donald Trump.
It wouldn’t necessarily bring about the required change, but my goodness it would put the frighteners on him!!! 🙂
Don’t tempt me, LAK!
@LAK and @Sixer – would love to see Wills’s tantrum over such a petition.
I’d be all for it as a Canadian. We don’t have a petition for it yet either.
Tempt her, LAK!
I wonder how an elective constitional monarchy could work. There have been elective monarchies before.
I think the best system would be to choose me as Glorious Overlord.
Would this be Harry if a debate/vote actually happened? LOL
http://media0.giphy.com/media/4pMX5rJ4PYAEM/200w.gif
Sixer, which historic tiara will you choose to wear once we select you as Glorious Overlord? Or will you garden in a regular hat instead?
I shall get a new one made up in the shape of devil’s horns. And I shall repatriate the Koh-i-Noor. I shall also hire out the Gold State Coach for children’s birthday parties, make the ex-royals #renovatebuckhouseforthegloriousoverlord as their workfare requirement if they don’t land a zero hours contract minimum wage job within 3 months of my accession, and donate the Cambridge helicopter to a REAL air ambulance pilot.
This is the beginnings of a manifesto, right?
I think we should. Petition needs to be worded in a constitutional legelase as well as concern trolling William (and his kids) per his own PR.
And yes, Sixer for Glorious Overlord.
The Baroness to remind you of your mighty Gloriousness.
And Liberty to record it all for the inevitable youtube reality channel.
And can we give William and Kate the most menial job we can come up with – no payment until job done, so they really understand how hard life can be.
@Lak. BP has issues with the roof and asbestos, they can work on that like it was Victorian England. Should teach them to value what they have.
Or make Waity clean out the loo’s in her wedding dress and Willy has to polish the copter but forbidden to get in it let alone fly it.
He would also have to jump George and Charlotte. William can remove himself, but I do not think he can remove his children.
I think the dress is cute.
I hesitate to say this, because it grates on my nerves when people criticize someone for looking older when guess what, they ARE older and unless you have discovered the Fountain of Youth yourself, shut it, but I was a little shocked by her neck. I’m aware of necks these days because my friends and I are all wtf with our necks, but isn’t she only about 32? That shouldn’t be happening with your neck until you’re in your 50s.
LMAO I can practically see you and your friends sit around and poke at your necks in a magnifying mirror. I’m horrified about what’s happening with my skin now I’m past 30. Since when do I need face oils??? It’s a whole new thing. But I digress. Is her neck really that bad? Maybe it’s because she’s so thin? And she’s 34 I think? Still, two years older than I am and my neck looks like it did 10 years ago.
And the dress is SO cute. Her styling is not.
I don’t think it helps that Kate seems to be underweight most of the time. My mom has an awful time keeping weight on (for some people it’s just as hard as losing weight) and her neck looks about 30 years older than the rest of her! She hates it.
Don’t worry I noticed it too and I’m not much older than her either. I usually refrain from saying things too but this bears mentioning because it’s so noticeable. Aging is weird. I feel like all of a sudden out nowhere a little clue that I’m no longer 22 appears in the mirror like an unwanted guest.
In my experience, the longer necks tend to go first. And Kate’s is long. One of the benefits of the eyes going too is that I get better at not noticing it.
This makes me feel better about my rather stumpy neck! 🙂
About the neck thing, I was poking at mine as well and my esthetician mentioned that face cream is supposed to be used on your face, neck and decolletage so my neck is looking better.
I’ve been using my moisturizer + sunscreen on my neck since I started wearing moisturizer and sunscreen in, like, high school. My mom always said what’s the point of protecting your face and keeping it looking young if your neck and chest look like leather, and I remember watching her get ready (for getting up or for bed) as a kid, and she would always take her night cream down to her chest. I like to think it’s helped now that I’m 32, and it’s probably saved me a chest sunburn or two, since that’s where I tend to burn.
Chicken, my grandmother and mom and aunts said the same and mimicking them I started sneaking their creams at age 7 ….yes, 7. And I am so glad I did. My friends call me a vampire because my skin is still (knock on wood) looking ok. My mom and aunts still look utterly amazing.
Ladies — cream on every inch!! 🙂 Amusing side note: working once with a group of US models in Brazil on a swim campaign shoot we got a call in our Boston office: they models wanted the colonel’s fried chicken flown down to them daily as they swore the fat was good for their skin. I was told they would have nothing but water for 13 hours, then sit down and gobble the fried coated skin and throw out the rest !!!! They were thin, 18 – 20, and dead serious about it!
Liberty: you can never start too early.
I’ve been putting body/face moisturisers since I could walk. My skin is baby smooth.
Re: the models…..whilst I wouldn’t support the overall lack of calorie intake, I do applaud oil/water regime as far as keeping skin supple and looking great.
I wish Kate would do something about her skin. It manages to look dry, with cracked lips which could be sorted out with copious water and oil intake. Her hair is kept artificially glossy by her frequent hair-dresser trips, but I bet if one examined it properly, it would be as lacklustre as her skin.
Exfoliating face, neck and chest is key as well as moisturising. I use a face loofah when exfoliating and u should see smoother skin in a week or so.
Also Rosehip Oil is AMAZING.
Kate needs to drink more water and get more fish oils inside. Plus she needs to lay off tanning and stop smoking.
now you’re making me self-conscious, GNAT! I thought having a line or two across a small section of the front of your neck was normal once you hit the 30s, not all round like some redwood tree rings but one or two small ones…
I have had two lines across my neck since I was at least five years old and shocker I still have them. I don’t think they’re age related…
Must resist looking at neck … must resist looking at … must put down mirror … must … gah!
sorry GNAT, what about her neck exactly? I feel dumb now because I don’t see anything wrong with it – it just looks like a normal neck to me…
I think what looks like lines is actually just her hair?!
Yes actually, kai is correct.
Yep thats her hair. Ugh.
The first thing that always strikes me about Kate is that she apparently applies her make up with a trowel. Now, I live in a more hippie-style part of the country, so maybe it’s because of what I’m used to seeing (or not seeing). But I get uncomfortable around people in full pancake. I stare rudely. And I’m looking at the skin tone mismatch right up against her hairline. And while I’m at it, submitting a comment that will be buried deep in this list, I hate the way she purses her lip to show her “trademark dimple.” Cheap trick. I’d also complain about her colorist, but that’s just mean. Coming from a hippie.
Women who are in the public eye and are expecting to be photographed pile it on thick primarily to show up on the camera, most of the time you don’t see how thickly applied it is as its usually applied by a professional make up artist and they know how to blend. Kate applies her make up herself, always has and thats why you can see it. She hasn’t quite mastered the art of blending and her foundation doesn’t really match her skin tone. For me she needs to get a foundation that is closer to his natural skin tone and lay off the eye liner, in fact don’t use any and stick to just mascara.
Her makeup is like the rest of her style (hair, clothes and shoes) in that its the style of a middle aged woman. But both Kate and Pippa dress like Carole, they even wear their makeup the same. Carole loves the eyeliner as well.
Two sad faces!!! OMG! I loved that Tom Skyes article, I think it was true and huge!
Well back to basics, it seems like Kate misses St. Patrick’s day celebration next Thursday, she is gonna open a charity shop in connection with a Norfolk Hospice. They couldn’t find a place closer to home, but at this point we all should be happy she is out and about.
Also this dress goes back to like 2012, can you imagine a wardrobe she has, such a pity she always goes for similar pieces.
No St. Patrick’s Day with Domnhall (if I spelled it right)?? I would go give him his shamrocks and then go open the shop. She’s got the bloody helicopter after all.
I think it is a shame. Apparently they have a heli when it suits them.
Given the number of duties 94 (!!!) yr old Philip carries out, he averages more than onea day. She could and should do both.
I just saw that the charity shop thing is the 18th. I guess William’s doing the shamrocks this year?
@ bluhare
Can’t expect Kate to work on the 17th and then on the 18th too. That’s two hard days of work in a row. That would be overcrowding her work schedule.
They look like two BORED faces to me…
I like the little bird dress 🙂
It is lovely, isn’t it? I bought a very similar dress from Modcloth a couple years ago, only it is French blue and the bird silhouettes are a little differently shaped. I get compliments on it all the time & I keep hoping that Modcloth will bring it back so I can get another colour.
Well, the wiglet is back and Kate did a costume change along the way, because she had something with long black sleeves under that green body-bag of a coat and this dress was not it.
I don’t know what happened to her mane, but it is not what it used to be. Either she needs to change her hairdresser or it is natural and part of having 2 pregnancies. She has a crown visible, is it extensions again(?), not helping, her hair lost it volume and strength. Probably post pregnancy or her hairdresser doesn’t have a clue what to do with it.
I have heard from my hairdresser that long term use of extensions, winglets etc., actually damages hair and makes it far worse than it was prior to the wiglets, which is a real shame for her because I always thought she had great hair before she started wearing those ridiculous extensions/wiglets/sausage curls.
That’s a good catch, I didn’t notice the black sleeve sticking out until you mentioned it. Maybe it’s a black cardigan?
I thought maybe a turtleneck? I’m thinking she did change her outfit before the documentary viewing at KP.
Best wishes to KaiserMum. I hope she recovers well.
Agreed. 🙂
me too!
Yes, I meant to say that, too. You are so thoughtful, Sixer. And you can remember things for longer than 10 seconds, which is nice.
Get well soon, KaiserMum! 💐
Me three.
Here is to a quick recovery.
Thanks you guys, my mom is doing okay, she’s on a sh-t ton of morphine!
I had a morphine button after my hysterectomy. I miss my morphine button.
Yes, Kaiser, all the best to your mom for a quick recovery! And yes, morphine!
When I awoke after my emergency appendectomy I felt so blissful & happy, life was grand. An hour later I was in pain & throwing up. A lovely nurse came by & asked, “Would you like another shot of morphine, dear?” Ah….so.
Hope your mom recovers soon, Kaiser!
All the best for a speedy recovery for your Mom Kaiser. I’m glad they are looking after her (especially with pain management. Stingy medication without good reason is just mean)
I was going to mention something today (saw it on Twitter yesterday). Glad she’s doing OK.
Jumping on the train of well wishers. I hope she has a speedy recovery.
Me, too! Best wishes to your mom, Kaiser!
Me three.. Hope she gets well soon Kaiser
Me, as well. I hope she is better soon.
Yes, this!!!
Yes! here’s to hoping for a speedy recovery for your mum.
Agreed! best wishes for a comfortable, quick recovery!!
A bit out of the current topic…but the whole bunch of stories about how lazy Will is, followed by the photos of their kids was a predictable thing. However, these photographs do not only show their children…it is not even a damage control…it is William showing his middle finger to the public. He was accused of being lazy and not working enough hours as a pilot, so went of a luxury holiday and let himself being photographed by only one authorized photographer with his kids. It looked like “hey you moaners, here I am, and I will just go on as I wish”. Since we know it and for long time already Will does the things in his own way and view, I guess no PR gurus could stop him from his idea of publishing the photos from just another out of hundreds luxury holiday. And now PR people are desperate to do something, since the photos did not work. I think we will see/read even more of such stories as the one mentioned above about how Liz admires wold champions in the speed social climbing Middletons, how being damn lazy is just the right and best quality a future king can posses, and how the constant control of media by Will is the most versatile PR strategy ever.
Throwing civilians under the bus was a HUGE disaster because the civilians slapped them back and pointed out what a pack of lies they were telling.
So it’s back to the drawing board of throwing other royals, particularly the big guns of Queen and Charles, under the bus because other royals won’t slap back or even engage.
However, they’ve lied to often or they haven’t followed through on so many intentions, so no one believes them anymore.
Also, why would a woman who is infamously frugal for a royal suddenly spend exhorbitant amounts of state cash on the personal space of a member of her family when she knows they aren’t going to work at all? Her beloved Andrew doesn’t get the same level of consideration ie if it was a case of indulging a relative, she would use personal money, not state funds that have to be public record.
Finally, I find it interesting that in their efforts to explain away his laziness, they are now bitching about his mother as opposed to the previous poor persecuted sainted mother narrative they were using as the basis of their media strategy.
The levels of incompetence are spectacular, are they not?
Jason needs to go. He has no control or power of influence over his dimwit clients and his PR strategy is incredibly stupid.
#FailJason FTW.
The change-up in attitude about Diana is the most interesting part to me. Prior to this she was all things golden and their biggest excuse for secrecy and attacking the press. Now she’s being dragged through the mud by William and accused of being a absent mother because she did her royal job. Another way to upset the civilians – accuse working parents of being bad parents. That goes over really well, Jason.
#whateverfulltimeroyalmeans
p.s. Sending healing thoughts to your mom, Kaiser.
If this is true, then it just goes to show that his ‘need’ for privacy for himself and his family wasn’t about privacy, the paps, and the media. It was about hiding what kind of person he truly is and thereby that he’s living his life in a very selfish, entitled, spoiled manner.
He’s about as much affected or disabled by the untrue mythos of the reason for Diana’s death as Harry is, and the latter isn’t disabled by it at all.
I was shocked too how William allowed Diana to be thrown under the bus! I never thought that would happen.
Precisely. If she was was such a terrible mother, why did he give Kate her ring and why do they often reenact scenes from Diana’s life?
They have absolutely zero shame. If I had to work damage control for them I’d quit because it would be hard not to strangle them both.
Whats this about them throwing Diana under the bus?
Betti: if you read recent articles from the telegraph, the express and even the DM that try to excuse William’s empty work schedule, the explanation seems to be that he had absent working parents and therefore he needs to stay at home to create a happy home environment.
The express article went into detail about how they were raised on the nursery floor, frequently eating meals by themselves.
Now as we all remember, during the war of the Waleses, Diana frequently arranged photo ops with the boys that implied that she was a better parent than Charles. Whether she actually articulated this thought is lost in the annals of time, but somewhere, Charles as a cold father who probably had no time for his sons became fact despite evidence to the contrary.
In light of that narrative, if William had said that Charles was an absent parent blah blah blah, it would have gone unnoticed since it would fit with a seemingly established narrative.
However, all articles are making the point that BOTH parents are to blame. And I noticed that specifically because Diana has always been painted, at least in public, as present in her sons’ life even though those same sons went to boarding school at 7/8yrs old and were barely present at home to witness or be mothered as closely as her narrative implied.
And it surprised me because William has always made a point of painting his mother as loving, if victim of rabid press. He has never sanctioned or allowed a narrative about her that painted her as a less mother figure. If anything he has been pushing her to the forefront of the royal story, re-enacting scenes from her life etc.
Camilla Tominey, who wrote the express article, was adamant on twitter that she got her sources from very close to William’s circle if not the actual circle.
The DM is going with the Queen angle, but it’s surprising to see the telegraph and express going for the parents (plural) angle.
Thanks LAK, i didn’t read the Telegraph and Express articles. And yes its very telling that he is allowing her mother’s image to be tainted – shows that he is under pressure and is running out of excuses. It’s only a matter of time before its Kate’s turn and he throws her under the bus with some sort of story about how she is finding motherhood and royal life difficult and thats why he has to be at ‘home’.
I’m a sucker for birds prints. That’s all I have to say.
She had another really cute on a couple of years ago. I love them, too.
I have a Boden bird print (ok pigeons!) shirt on right now. I love them too.
A positive: she did not wear a baby blue long coat! Or the wedges of doom or jeggings! This abnormally nice spring weather is bringing out the optimist in this old crow.
PS I agree, the bird dress is cute.
Hope your mom is doing OK.
Yes I came to say the same! Sending positive vibes – hope your mom is ok!
Best wishes for speedy recovery to your Mom, Kaiser.
My biggest upset with these news stories is how, now that we focus on Work-Shy Wills and the woman who does nothing but shop, there seems to be so little attention paid to the Queen, and to her children who actually are doing great work, who have devoted their entire lives to serving their country.
I’m not saying the criticism of Kate and William isn’t warranted. (It does strike me as unbalanced however. I mean, the obsessive attention to her wardrobe and what things cost? What if William spends 10x the amount of money, but on a pen collection no one knows about? Just because it’s harder to criticize, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening.) But I wish, for every story saying what a bunch of lazy, spoiled ingrates these two are, there would be some coverage of the committed work that other members of the family are doing. Even if it was just a line at the end of each article.
“As usual, william and kate spent money and did nothing. Back home, however, the queen held 6 meetings in 4 hours, while anne visited 3 food banks, and charles plants 12 more organic gardens.”
I think it would present a fairer view of the royal family as a whole, and highlight more effectively how inappropriate will and kate are.
That would make them (WK) look even more pathetic and entitled. I like it. Maybe that’s the next step for the press. Really rub it in and make them look like the biggest royal fools ever. The British public (excluding our wonderful Brits here) need a huge wake-up call it seems. And this includes HM and Charles.
Re: your last point. The DM has done EXACTLY this, at the end of the article on the XL visit today they have a small piece on the DoE’s visit today and a comparison of his total 2015 numbers against W&K and Harry.
Plus in the top photo they look bored – he has his awkward face on and she has her bored but trying to be interested face on.
I think Grump’s point is well taken. Not all of Celebitchy’s readers are on the same side of the Pond, and perhaps don’t follow the Daily Mail.
I like the bird print, but if it’s polyester no. As usual, Kate hasn’t really styled it in a very interesting way.
I’m really sick of these two.
I like the print, too, but am so tired of her matronly Town & Country look (does Carole choose her clothes?). I could understand continuing with this trend if that had truly been the lifestyle she grew up in, but now it just looks like she’s still an aspirational ingenue. All the money she’s wasted on coats could have been spent on a chic, good quality wardrobe of mix and match pieces like Queen Letizia’s. And, I’m pretty tired of both them as well. Their “work” load and PR antics are so predictable that when I see articles like this, I automatically think, “Here we go again. Pete and Repeat showing up but doing nothing”.
I totally agree. I’m tired of Lady Parvenu, the Buckets and Baby Bill. Nothing is on point with them. Lady P shops and shops and yet I see nothing worthy of notice in her fashion game.
Just wait until you see her ensemble for today.
at that price, I’d be wondering if it was polyester too. I don’t mess with polyester for my money.
The dress is cute, wish there was a full body photo. The 2nd photo, hope that’s just the angle of the photo because that neck looks like it’s much older than 34…
Speedy recovery to Kaiser’s mom!
Love William and Kate’s Serious And Concerned faces! They need to have these faces out and about more doing some actual charity work. They are really letting a lot of people down.
And the late Princess Diana should forever be praised for her work ethic.
Love to your mom, Kaiser. A quick recovery for her. ❤
Yes that photo is EVERYTHING! So serious, so concerned, and above all, so KEEN!
lol!! I will never look at the word keen in the same way thanks to these two posers.
Hit the nail on the head. They even have their hands folded the same. Puhleeesssseeee…..
Sad irony is that their lack of work gets more coverage than the duties actually arrived out by other members of the family. I mean, Sophie Wessex does more AND has just as nice if not better fashions.
On one hand, I think that if W&K pushed out this PR story that the Queen is OK with what they’re doing, then William is either desperate or he knows the Queen and the grey men won’t push back. He’s not scared of them apparently and he probably believes he’s more important to the future of the BRF than anybody else, including the Queen, Charles, and their legacies. Even Kate was caught on video calling George, ‘King George,’ which goes to show how she’s thinking the future is now, not later. She asked someone if they wanted to meet King George. O_o
On the other hand, I think the BRF love that W&K are such screw ups and making the rest of the family look really good. And with the Queen nearing the end of her life, imo they (sans Charles and Harry) are probably hanging onto their status and benefits by the tips of their fingers, because they know that Charles isn’t going to take care of them and protect them like the Queen has. They probably think that W&K’s terrible image might push the public into calling for them to be more in the forefront, counteracting against Charles’ plan to streamline the core active BRF.
With the Queen nearing her 90th b-day celebrations, W&K make the public more appreciative of her. With decades of some of the public calling for William to be the next monarch, this bad publicity makes Charles all the more desired. If you consider QE2 and Charles might have some slight strain of Machiavellianism, then they would consider W&K as godsends for their own reputation and popularity.
So why would the BRF step in and try to fix W&K? That would take away the incentive for the public to be supportive of the rest of them.
Anyhoo, good job W&K. Screw up Charles’ plan to screw over the rest of the BRF.
TQ’s birthday celebrations will be interesting as you can bet your bottom dollar Waity will turn up in an uber expensive, attention seeking outfit – just like she did on the day of the DJ floatilla. The red outfit was so obvs as a headline grabber, plus it clashed horribly with the red upholstery of the boat.
Best wishes to KaiserMom.
@ Betti
I agree that W&K are going to act as if it’s all about them as the future of the monarchy, rather than for them to play down their own selves and not vie for attention over the Queen and show her some respect.
My best wishes for KaiserMom too.
Best wishes to Kaiser Mom.
Like the bird print, actually.
The Sykes article was fascinating. May e they should take him on the payroll.
I found the Sykes article to be sympathetic to W&K too. He’s doing the kind of job that Jason does.
I think Sykes is avoiding the real issue. It’s not about privacy. It’s about W&K’s plan to work as little as possible and expecting the press to ignore their plan.
I don’t think the public cares about W&K pretending to play around with the snow or clutching each other like they were play-fighting. For me, at least, that’s not adorable. I don’t think the public wants to see more photos like that. They’re just not that likeable.
I don’t think anybody would begrudge the hard-working members of the BRF going on vacation in private. The real issue is that W&K treat the public like idiots.
Hope your mom is feeling better soon, Kaiser!
Now on to the gossip: I like the dress, but I also think she chose it because the birds are supposed to be uplifting/calming in nature. See…she cares.
William should be ashamed of the lengths he’s going to remain a lazy, #whateverroyalworkis royal. Throwing his mother, his father, and his grandmother under the bus is a new low for him. Usually it’s just his brother who gets this treatment. Happy to see it isn’t working with the folks in the UK, but my god…the people commenting on DB make me fear for my own government.
Silly me I went into an old DM article by mistake on W and K on the ski slopes in 2011 I think Kate has the same white snow jacket on with the fur trim, which is good. Although as I scrolled down to comments I realised it was five years old, but what surprised me were the negative comments similar to today, individuals were complaining in their eyes that the couple had taken an excessive four holidays.
Yes, the excessive frolicking seems a pattern.
As for her ‘old’ white snow jacket…I imagine she has new one now. And let’s look at the expensive outfit Wills is wearing. Looks brand new to me, and my first thought was- advertising.
I feel a little sorry for them. That family is so dysfunctional, right to the top, and so cold and calculating, and that they’ve produced a very dysfunctional William is really no surprise, and that he’s married someone equally dysfunctional even less of a surprise.
I know they both come across really badly in ‘duty’ terms but I do think there’s a bigger, cynical picture at play here that we’re really not privvy to.
Not trying to defend anyone, but I think the reason she leaves her jacket on during some events only to remove it later, is to separate the events in photos. But hey, I could be wrong.
Not sure how other royals in Europe handle these things, but it doesn’t seem to me as if the Scandinavian royals do this ‘coat dress’ thing on a regular basis. Maybe someone can give some insights on that. (Besides, this Erdem coat is not a coat dress…..I thought it was rude that she didn’t take it off while inside for that first event.) Surely though, they don’t do this crotch grab with the clutch pose, that is so awful and off-putting. I wish Kate would cease and desist with that mannerism. She is so stiff and awkward sometimes.
Yeah, if you change clothes at same event, then it goes down as 2 may-be 3 charities!!!
LAK – you were brilliant today. Sometimes I groan at the things I see in print, and I can count on insight on CB.
Kaiser, I’m chiming in with well-wishes to your mum; don’t forget to give yourself some hugs too.
William does not seem like a very nice man, in the way that he is punishing his father, and taking advantage, in Every Way Possible, of his mother’s good name. He is also taking advantage of the powerful people he is manipulating, such as his grandmother, as well as the aristocracy who want to remain powerful, and what government wants to deal with a blubbering boy for a figurehead? (Sorry, Will, but it just looks bad!) I wish Shakespeare were here to sort the tale; wouldn’t that would be a play to attend! Of course, Liberty could have a go –
I agree with all the comments on the laziness scenario
wouldnt it be interesting if we could vote on this very arrogant pair . We would vote them out as they are so arrogant and do not care about the British Public
They are so up themselves on every level.. and ought to be brought off the pedestal on which they sit by powers in their organisation who control all the workings of events at the Palace…..
Princess Anne makes her role look easy by her professionalism and does countless work in a day whereas this pair do one engagement and its all about lazy waity and bills wardrobes
I was 15 when Charles and Diana became engaged and it was ALL over the American news. As a girl who loved fairytales, I ate it up. I’m now 50. And I see that picture of Kate’s dress and my first thought was, “Didn’t Diana’s blouse while wearing the blue suit at her engagement announcement have flying birds on it?” Just goes to show, people remember what you wear.

Wow! Great catch! You’re right! Another Diana-copycat move by Kate.
